The Isles Restaurant
Rated: 2.5 out of 5 with 4 Reviews

We are an oceanfront restaurant on the West End of Ocean Isle Beach, minutes north of Calabash. Our goal is to take a modern twist on coastal carolina favorites utilizing the best products in the region. We feature fresh hand cut steaks and fish with plenty of southern hospitality. Enjoy our oceanfront tiki bar or at a table overlooking the beach, weather permitting.

I live in Calabash and I bring out of town family and friends here because it is on the ocean , and the tiki bar is great. The food and service were good. I was recently here in june and july 2011. You want to look out over the ocean , then this is the place to go.

Went there last year with friends from out of state and it was nothing special across the board. Nice ocean view but otherwise there are lots of better places to choose from in the area.

We always go to OIB on vacation and had never been to the Isles. The views were amazing but the service wasn't all that great and to me the food was over priced. I ordered the crab cakes and basically that's all I got. I had rice but barely any to write about. My sisters chicken was generic. Must admit though that the mac and cheese appetizer was pretty good.

My husband and I went to the Isles for our monthly date night. We live only 10 min from the Isles so we thought how nice it would be to go somewhere nice that was also close by. Anyone who knows this area knows that July at OIB is crazy busy every night. Well not at the Isles. When we approached the hostess her first comment was...DO YOU HAVE reservations? We looked around at the empty restaurant and said no, did we need them. She said no, but it will be about 10-15 min before we can get you a table. We said that's not a problem. We went outside to the most amazing tiki bar that sits right on the ocean and ordered a couple of drinks (kettle and tonic / crown and ginger =$16) We were not in any hurry since this was our night out and we were enjoying the breeze and each others company. When I finally looked at my watch an hour had passed. I went in to tell the hostess we had decided to just have apps at the bar, she looked at me and said OH, sorry...... Our apps were ok, not spectacular, which is what you would expect from such a gorgeous restaurant. It is sad to see such a beautiful location go to waste. This was the third chance I have given to this restaurant because the location is so amazing but I don't know if I can give them any more of my money knowing what poor service I am going to receive.
