I must say the food was awful. The lettuce on the salad bar was full with water. The broiled shrimp was over cooked, stuffed crab was hard, the clam strip was noting but batter and dry, the red rice was soggy. The desert bar....Oh my Lord. The flyer is a deceiption. The food looked good on the picture, but inside not the same. Please donot waste your gas nor your money at SEA TRAWLER 1109 South Kings Hwy Myrtle Beach.

We decided to try the place - it was a Seafood Buffet at I think $13.95 per person. Anyway, the food tasted like reheated leftovers. Ask about the Crab Legs - posted at the bar - an extra $8.95. Rolls were hard - I watched them being dumped out of a bag into the holder. The lettuce had brown lettuce in it. Seriously, this was bad - just drive on by and don't waste your money!

This resturant should be shut down! The "Buffet" is very limited and the food is questionable. They are rude and the "coupon for buy 1-get 1 free" is a rip-off just to get you in there. We "ate" there one time. NEVER went back. The food was horrible. I felt so used and abused when I came out! Save your money and go to a better place!

My family and I dined at this place on our first trip to MB. It was late and we were looking for a quick meal at a good value. We couldn't have been farther from that. We should have known something was up when we first pulled in and there was only one other couple in the whole building. Needless to say the buffet only held a few items and everything we tried was HORRIBLE! It all tasted and looked like it had been sitting out for days. My husband actually became physically sick after trying some of the shrimp. $56 dollars and a sick stomach later, I wish id never driven by that restaurant. Do not, I repeat do not eat here! keep your money and go someplace else.

Small but great!!! Service was wonderful and the food was so good!! They don't have crablegs on buffet but you can get them for additional cost. I don't eat them anyway so it worked out for me because most places you pay for them even if you don't want them. Will be back!!!!!!

DO NOT EAT AT THIS PLACE!! If you want seafood, this is NOT the buffet for you....dry, tasteless, overbreaded and of very mysterious origin. If it was priced at 5.99, you might be able to fill up on the clam chowder......and not feel totally ripped off! Pathetic atmosphere.....depressing all the way around.

My family of six visited this restaurant on 8/13/09. The reason we visited was a coupon we had for buy 1 get 1 on adult dinners. When we got there the waitress told us we couldn't use the coupon because they had a $12.75 special on the buffet and they would not accept the coupon.

Anyway when we got the bill, we were charged $16.95 for the adult buffet's, then 15% gratuity added and the extensive Myrtle Beach tax. The person at the register then changed the bill to the discounted rate by kept the 15% gratuity AND the close to 10% tax based on the pre-discount rate. I can understand the tip, but the tax... NO WAY. The manager who was very rude said that is how it is done in SC... I say again NO WAY. I bought plenty of things on sale during our vacation and we didn't pay tax on the original amount. It does say on the menu they will do this little shifty feat to you at the register. Be cautious!!!

Also, the food isn't very good... it sits under the heat lamp and gets dry and hard ... my kids hated their onion rings especially because of that.

Stay away from this tourist trap!

The Office for Tourism in Myrtle Beach should have this place closed up for misrepresentation and lack of hospitality. The food is nowhere near the pictures in their advertisements and is terrible. Some items on the 8 foot buffet are often left out too long and not edible.Disgusting.The management needs a class in customer relations and business management. Don't waste your time or money!

This restaurant sucks!!! All the bad things listed in the previous reviews are 100% on the mark. This place is neither cute, clean, friendly or worth the money. The manager sits and smokes like a freight train over the food, The waitress makes her tips off of you and you serving yourself. Expect with a coupon for a family of six to pay $144.00. The reason everyone is sick the next day is because they got taken. Sickening that this restaurant has not been condemned. It is pathetic. Dont go!!!! Again, Dont go!!! You will be sorry if you do. If I could find out the owner's name, he would get a personal letter from me. Hope he reads this. Give it up, Mr. owner you are a crook.

The worst thing was the value of the food for the amount of money. For it to be a seafood restaurant and to charge around $17, they served mostly fried foods with typical seafoods like shrimp and fish. Disappointment..

My entire family wanted to go to a good seafood restaurant while here in myrtle beach. We happened to have a coupon for trawlers. The photos and variety looked great on the advertisement. We soon found out that is was the most horrible food ever! it was way, way overpriced even with the coupon. There was no variety and it looked like the food had been sitting out all day. Everyone was sick the whole next day. We will never go there again or reccomend it to anyone. It was absolutely terrible!.

This restaurant was awful, the buffet looks nothing like the advertisement! Sea food was under cooked!! I dont usually like to complain and my husband will eat just about anything, but this place was truly bad. People were walking out disgusted and some came in and took one look at the buffet and walked out(something we should have done before ordering). When we informed the manager that the food was undercooked he said nothing. We told him that the food had clearly been sitting out and the pudding from the desserts tasted spoiled, again, he said nothing!! He rolled his eyes and walked away! I was stunned! As we were leaving, a couple was walking out with us complaining of the same things. I dont expect this place to be open much longer! If the food doesn't make you sick, the managements attitude will!!

Apparently it is still okay to smoke in restaurants in South Carolina. I could barely eat due to the manager smoking in the dining room back by the entry to the kitchen and next to the food. The food was terrible and $46 later, I was wondering why we chose this place. Disgusting.

I have to say that this is the worst restaurant my family ate at while in Myrtle Beach. The buffet selection was limited to 2 bars, a salad bar and the main bar. With the limlited selection the quality was even worse, The mac and cheese was cold as was the bbq ribs. The fish was ok but as mix of food offered was an odd variety, Another reviewer mentioned the banana pudding and I will say without a doubt it was the worst I've ever eaten,

As for the atmosphere and noise level of the restaurant was concerned it wasn't a problem as the place was nearly empty. Again the value was poor for the amount of dishes offered. Even with the coupon and discount this was a poor choice for dinner, My advice is to stay far away from the place,

This place is terrible. Definitely a tourist trap. The place was not busy at all (which should have been a enough for us to know this place was bad because everywhere in Myrtle Beach has a line.) When we got in, the bar was tiny, most of what looked like the "regulars" in there looked like trash, and the service was terrible. They had maybe three to five different foods that were actually seafood on the bar. We also had a coupon, but when the bill arrived, they stuck us with 18% gratuity and taxes on the full amount instead of the discounted amount. They never handed the menus to us, so we never got to see that the coupon didn't work on that. It was and overall terrible and expensive meal, so save yourself a lot of money and go to mcdonalds or something. I hate that place.

When my wife and I took our first trip together to Myrtle Beach as a married couple in 1988, we had to compromise on restaurants, etc. Her family stayed on the south end, mine on the northern end. Her family really liked the Sea Trawler. My family prefered to drive to Calabash, NC and eat at Beck's. You get the idea.

For our first trip as a married couple, we decided to try to do everything. When we ate at the Sea Trawler, I really enjoyed my meal, and for the next several years, we made it a regular stop. The steaks were really good, as were the crab legs. My wife always enjoyed the buffet with the fresh corn on the cob, and we both enjoyed the homemade desserts. We stopped there once for dinner every year for the next 5 years and enjoyed each visit.

Fast-forward 12 years to 2000, and now we have two children and are staying at the Sea Mist... walking distance to the Sea Trawler. We ate dinner there on our first night, and had a bad experience. Our kids were a pain, we were eating late, and the food was lousy. We attributed the fact that we didn't like the food to our bad day.

The following year, we stayed at the Sea Mist once again and walked to the Sea Trawler. This time, the kids were good and we were there at peak time and were in a good mood, ready for a delicious Sea Trawler buffet! However, the food was awful and was MUCH more expensive than I had remembered.

Our final trip to the Sea Trawler was in 2003. The food was bad. The place was dirty. The staff was NOT friendly, and it was WAY overpriced. I don't know if ownership changed over the years, but from 1988 to 1994, it was one of our favorite places. From 2000 to 2003, we didn't have decent meal there, and we won't be going back. The place should be torn down.

I paid about 35 dollars for me and my girlfriend which is about 15 less than what I would've paid at another place. It would have been the best 15 bucks I ever spent, but it was too late. The only shrimp they had was cocktail style shrimp but it was under a heat lamp. Do not waste your time or money on this place. There is a Captain D's right across the street, not only will you save money, but the seafood is actually better. That's exactly what we told a family right as we walked out the door as they were coming in. I may have wasted 35 bucks but at least I saved a family of 6 about 100 bucks.

I love going to this restaurant!! It is small, and the selection isnt like the big buffets, but its a good deal for the price. We visit MB every summer, and never miss this place! My 2 yr old son enjoys it just as much because the waitresses are so nice to him and they cater to us very much. It is a nice place to take your family. I also enjoy the big restaurants, but always have to stop here once per trip. Try it, you'll like it!!

Me, my husband, and my two sons 3 and 9 went there for dinner in June. The only problem I really had with the place is the bar didn't have a large selection for the price, but then on the other hand the food that was there was very good and it was fresh nothing tasted like it had set there for hours so that was good. My 3 year old is very picky but they bring you out a basket full of hush puppies and they were delicious I think he ate a basket of them by himself. We will definately eat here again.

We have been going to MB for our Summer vacation for 9 years, and have eaten at numerous seafood buffets between Calabash and Pawley's Island. This restaurant was "new" a couple of years ago, and was close to our motel. Instead of driving further to one of our favorite buffets, we decided to try this one. Big mistake! The 2 little "bars" were small, and the selection was pathetic! In fact, there were mostly weird things that had nothing, at all, to do with seafood. While the things which we did sample in the way of seafood were terrible, and the service pretty much non-existent, the bill was just as high as if we had gone to a real seafood buffet! The parking lot was full again when we were there in August of this year (2006), but we have to believe that they were all first-time customers. (We wouldn't go back if we had a coupon to allow the whole family to eat for free!) There are lots of seafood buffets in MB. Some are good, some OK, and a few not so good. This one has to be the worst! Save your time and money for others (Seafarer, Crabby Mikes, Original Benjamin's, etc), and you'll be glad you did! I can only imagine the two "positive" reviews on this site are from people who have no experience with better seafood buffets, or, perhaps, folks who have never had good seafood......???

This place is a joke! Two very small buffet tables. One was a salad bar with lettuce, cheese, fake bacon bits, and other salads like cole slaw, potato salad. No other veggies for your salad. The other table had a small selection of seafood and only three vegetables, green beans, boiled potatos and corn (I think). We had a coupon for buy 1 get 1 half price. I wished we had scoped out the tables before we ordered. We had 3 adults and 2 children. Our bill was around $80 after the coupon, not including the tip. After I saw the food, my appetite was ruined that I could barely eat. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra few $'s on a different seafood buffet. Trust me, any place would be better.

Very disappointing! This is nothing more than a tourist trap. Boy were we disappointed! They have two very small buffet bars. NO selection. Just basics. We were kicking ourselves for not at least walking across the street to Shoney's which at least had prime rib on their bar. The desserts were terrible. I did not realize that you could open a can of vanilla pudding and place two vanilla wafers on top and call it banana pudding. Pay a couple of extra dollars and go anywhere else.

This is one of the best seafood buffets in Myrtle Beach for the price. We didn't want to pay the HUGE price of some of the larger restaurants, so we went here and the price is very reasonable - the food is fresh and WONDERFUL - the service is great and the atmosphere is great! I will absolutely be back here again and again!
