We eat at Sea Captains House every year during our trip to Myrtle Beach. The food is good, but portions compared to other restaurants are extremely small. The price of the food is high. Service was also not good during my last visit. Probably will not return unless things change.

We first visited this restaurant on our honeymoon 13 years ago and were hooked immediately. You cannot beat the atmosphere and oceanfront location. The food is great and the prices are not any higher than other restaurants in the area. It is usually very busy in the evening so arrive early. The seating area in the back is great. We never tire of watching the waves roll in as we wait to be seated. Also, breakfast is delicious and not crowded at all.

After hearing about this restaurant we decided we would try it this year. We arrived early and were seated in a fair amount of time for a party of 12. Our service was just not that good, I guess our waiter had a bad day. Several people in our party wanted lobster which they were out of????. The PRICE for their lobster was very high so maybe it was good they were out. Overall it wasn't terrible but overpriced for the portions and very bland flavor for a pricey meal. The childrens menu was good along with the prices. Again not bad but thought it would be better.

Can't say enough about the Sea Captains House!! Love it, Love it, Love it!!

Since 8 yrs ago, my 1st visit, we always go here. We come to Myrtle Beach, with my family and everyone we take raves. The food is excellent no matter what is ordered and the service is second to none. I'm just really sad because they do not take reservations and this Sept I'm getting married and there will be 17 of us. I think too large of a group to wait :) Don't get me wrong! We wait for 6 of us all the time. 17 is alittle different! If you want a meal to remember forever, you must go atleast once when your in town. I bet you can't go just once though!

This used to be my favorite Myrtle Beach restaurant. The atmosphere was so local and nostalgic of the past at the beach. Since they opened up that bar in the back yard and put seating in the enclosed porch on the lower level in the back, the atmosphere, service, and food has suffered. Yes, the bar gives the patrons something to do while waiting to be seated, but it is not worth the loss of atmosphere. We went there a couple of times a year for 20+ years and will NOT go back. We were obviously not locals and as such, were treated like a 5th wheel.

My husband and I discovered this restaurant on our honeymoon years ago. We come back every year (usually several times during our week's vacation). It is by far our favorite restaurant at Myrtle Beach. The service is excellent; many of the waitresses have worked there for many years. The oceanfront location makes for incredible views while you are waiting and eating!

I love the SCH! It is my favorite restaurant in MB and has been for years! Every meal I have ever gotten from SCH has been excellent! The atmosphere and view from the SCH are both above average! I always get more then what I feel I pay for and it is wonderful...especially the crab cake appetizer! The time to be seated is the only downside, however, when you are in MB in the summer...what do you expect? I think it is well worth the wait!!! I think that this is the best of the beach!

We have visited Myrtle Beach on several occassions and ate at a different places each time. This was undoubtly the best. It was directly next to our resort. The atmosphere was excellent to say the least. We did not spend anymore on dinner at the Sea Captains House than any of the other places we dined at during our vacation at Myrtle Beach. I highly recommend trying this at least one time. You should not be disapointed. Our only complaint was from my husband who stated that the chairs were a little hard. I did not notice because the food and service was so great!

I visited the Sea Captains house for lunch 2X during my 4 day stay in Myrtle Beach. I thought the ambiance was quite lovely with the different dining rooms and patio. Service was prompt, friendly and top-notch, had a few really enjoyable conversations with my servers. The food was predictable, but tasted great, was cooked well, and there was plenty of it. Whoever thinks this restaurant is expensive has obviously never been to Key West because I found it to be ridiculously low priced. Fairly decent wine list. If you are looking for fine dining this is not the place. if you are looking for an Arthur Treachers this is also not the place. This is a nice, moderately priced enjoyable restaurant to have a decent meal in comfortable surroundings. Kudos to the staff.

We are planning our wedding near by and will be making the 45 min. drive to have our reception dinner here! The atmosphere is beautiful, the food is great as well as the service. I must say I was dissapointed. This place had been recommended to me many times but the food quality was just not there. I had the crab soup....needed to be doctored considerably. For an entree, I had the flounder stuff with crab. It simply did not stand out...very bland. My server was wonderful, attentive and very professional but the food lacked compared to the cost of the meal. I most likely will not go back again.

LOVE this place. I have been for lunch & dinner and have been pleased everytime. The she-crab soup is very good. The crabcakes are not as good as Phillips HOWEVER the lemon-dill sauce they serve with theirs is a nice for a change. VERY tasty! The kids menu is very good & reasonable. I LOVE the fact I can get them fresh fruit with their entree........

We are locals and love this place. We go for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every meal is great!!!! The view is awesome. Our favorite dining time is for lunch, as we love the daily lunch specials. Being local, we do know the best days and times to go to not have to fight the crowds. I would suggest that anyone that likes Red Lobster better or makes the comparison, keep going to Red Lobster to allow more space for those that really enjoy Sea Captains House.. Service is great. Value for $ is great!!!

We finally tried this restaurant 2 years ago and it was love at first bite.

This past year we visited 2 times during the week we were there. The mahi-mahi is good (I have it each time).

Waitress has always been attentive.

I tried a ginger lime sauce this past year with the mahi at the recommendation of the waitress. I asked for it on the side in case I did not like it as I do not have a palate for much ginger. The sauce was wonderful (I'm glad I took her advice).

We will continue to go back each year.

My husband is a chef - we took our family here no less than 3 times while in Myrtle Beach for a week's vaction. We came for dinner twice, and breakfast once. Delicious everything!!!! I adored the blackened scallops over cheddar grits and the she-crab soup. Our servers were all prompt and delightful and kind to our three yr old daughter. Yes, the outdoor bartender was slow, but the wait for a table felt surprisingly short considering the crowd. Plus, how can you complain about the wait when you are gazing out at the beautiful blue ocean? A creative chef, a beautiful setting, a top-notch restaurant - highly recommended!!

I think this place was highly overrated. The waiting area and bar are not sufficient. It took 30 minutes to get a drink because they only have one bartender. For the price you pay for the food you would expect cloth on the tables, not plastic.

How can you compare this place to red lobster! I love this place. The food is very good and compared to other seafood restaurants the price is reasonable. The view of the ocean is so beautiful as you eat. The only thing I would change is the wait time, but that just tells you how good it is. They open at 5pm and we try to be there at that time.Even the wait is enjoyable. This is the one special restaurant we visit each year when we come to the beach.

We liked this place well enough for dinner to go back a second time in the same week. But there are disadvantages. The bar service on the patio, which is all that is available while you wait for a table, is extremely limited: crummy selection of wines, limited beer selection, etc. Sounds petty, but our wait was an hour the first time, so decent bar choices are important. The food was great, especially the scallops. While I've read the comments that said there are better places in terms of value (we considered this to be only moderately expensive, not really expensive,) those other places don't have a site right on the beach with a grassy area for waiting and/or kicking off your shoes. The ambience while you wait is actually better than the ambience while you are eating!
