We were just in Myrtle beach area for 2 weeks and just can't pass bye the Inlet without stopping for the she crab soup. My daughter gets multiple bowls of clam chowder and we argue what is the best soup. I really enjoy the lightly fried shrimp and she crab soup I order every time. (If its not broke don't try to fix it.). My wife enjoys the grilled shrimp and salads. The servers are the greatest, the food is freshest and I like the atmosphere as it is exactly what I look for in a local sea food restaurant.

We have been vacationing here many years and always make sure to eat here at least once. After some poor experiences the past couple of years, we gave them another chance on 6/6/14, and are glad we did! Food is back up to it's old standards, fresh, well prepared, and delicious. On recommendation I got the special of crab stuffed grouper, and so glad I did. We always share appetizers of peel and eat shrimp(so sweet) and grouper bites (tender, melt in your mouth) and hush puppies (the best!). My son got the angel hair pasta and must have been served 2 lbs! While what seems pricey for a little shack restaurant, you are paying for that fresh local seafood. And highly recommend the She Crab Soup!

Went to Inlet Jan 2013...the waitress was friendly...the salad had old lettuce in it...they replaced it....the boiled seafood was missing a fish.....it was good otherwise...but less than average value for money after those two mishaps...

After reading the raves about the She-Crab Soup I have to add that my favorite is the Grouper. I love it in the grouper basket, and once I found it I never get anything else! Tender and flavorful, just wonderful!

Took a group of ten at 5:00. Had no problem getting seated. Wish we would have. The price is high, the portions small, one piece of fish, four oysters, six small shrimp, three scallops and three crab bites on the seafood platter, all for $25.00. The only good thing on the plate was the baked potato. Service was lousy. The waitress was rude and I guess because our tip was automatically added she didn't bother to come back. They don't give hushpuppies, you have to buy them. The tartar sauce tasted like plain mayonaise and the cocktail tasted like ketchup. We come down here at least six times per year and this was our first and last time at the Inlet Crab House. We all wish we wouldn't have gotten seated so quickly then we may have went somewhere with edible food.

My party of 6 ( 6 y/o, 5 y/o, 18 months, and Senior Mother) walked in right at prime time for dinner and we were seated immediately-of all places out on the patio. That was wonderful! Great music-great wait staff-and clean. The She crab soup was outstanding and the rest of the food was spot on. My only complaint was the portion size for the money-just a little overpriced in my opinion. Overall a great place and I would come back again-for the soup and the family friendly atmosphere-it was worth the slight overprice for portion size. The bad reviews you see either just had a singular bad experience I'm guessing or just food snobs.

This restaurant is noted for their she-crab soup. When the soup was served evryone that got the soup in our pasrty complained about it. It was the worst tasting she-crab soup ever tasted. Tasted like cheesy potato soup. When the waitress was informed of this the reply was " no one has ever complained about the soup..I'll let the chef know". That was it, no concern that maybe something was wrong..basically the attitide was "tough..we don't care". No offer was made to make it right or to find out what was wrong. The soft shell crabs dinner was excellent. The fried oysters tasted very good but were greasy. With all of the sea food restaurants available in the area you can do much better than this. They aren't as good as they think they are.

We picked this restaurant because of the good ratings it had received on the web. What a disaster! We were seated right away and told by departing guests that the food was great and what they enjoyed. The service was surly and virtually non-existent. My firend went to get a glass for his beer which was delivered in the bottle and found that there was no one at the bar to serve him. He drank his beer from the bottle. We ordered two shrimp dishes and one scallop dish which were ok but nothing to rave about. My wife ordered the full scallop dinner and it was just bad. The scallops were overcooked, tasteless and rubbery. We waited for our server to drop by to ask how we were doing but that never happened and we sat for about 20 minutes after eating for her to come back with our bill. The night before we had gone to TGI Fridays and had an excellent dinner for the money we paid. We should have gone back there.

Nobody should call their restaurant a crab house if they don't have steamed crabs (maryland style) the only way crabs should be served, they should be ashamed of themselves for false representation. Sorry about your luck.

We visited today for the first time. We have been looking for a great place to get a bowl of She-crab soup all week. Today we happened upon The Crab house and it was AMAZING! My husband had the mushroom burger and said how he doesn't usually like burgers from seafood places because they can't cook them right. His burger today was excellent! Marinated right and awesome seasoning on the mushrooms. The coleslaw was also sooo good. I'm not a coleslaw fan, but this was so different and great. The kids had grilled cheese, and we were impressed that it was a good size, not the little pieces of bread you normally get from a kids grilled cheese. Thank you! -Kaycie & Josh S. Seymour, TN

We have been coming here for years, since I was a kid with my family. You cannot do any better. The seafood is excellent. Anyone who says otherwise must be working for another competing restaurant. I love the cozy atmosphere, and the waitstaff is very accomodating. Also, we usually have a larger party, and I appreciate the fact that you can get reservations here. Get the seafood platter, you won't find a tastier fried scallop or oyster around.

We really want to love this restaurant, but all the previous reviews regarding the subpar service and non-existant or rude management are right on. The first two beers we ordered were out (no big deal), then my wife wanted clams and those were out (ok), then I ordered the blue brab claw apetizers and those were out. At this point, I asked our waitress if there was a sign we could view that would point out all of the menu items they were out of so we could place our order without being rebuffed. She seemed taken aback, but in my experience, servers have usually notified me upon seating when a menu item is not available let alone the first 4 things we ask for. Well the she-crab soup is the world-famous menu item and we all got that and it was great but guess what....they were out of soup spoons! My wife got the oyster platter and the melted butter they brought us tasted like wesson oil so we asked for more. The new "butter" tasted the same and when we explained to the waitress that their version of melted butter completely ruined the oysters she replied that they were using a "European blend". I then pointed out that any type of butter that came from an actual cow (European, Chinese or whatever) would have congealed after coming down to room-temp as ours did and it was still completely opaque due to it being 90% oil. I don't blame her as I'm sure the ownership gave her that line of bull to give customers, but the ownership here was nowhere to be found. There are 18 tables and 7 servers were working, but they all seemed completely overwhelmed due to the total absence of leadership here. It's sad because they will always fill up due to the volume of tourists (yes us too but this was the last time), but if you care about where you put down your hard-earned $$$, only spend it here if you get the she-crab soup to-go. That soup still rocks, but everything else is pathetic.

Found this place about 15 years ago on college spring break and its been my favorite since. Now I bring my family every time we are in town. They have the best she-crab soup I've ever tasted and the conch fritters are great too. I love the friendly and casual atmosphere. This is a hidden treasure, most people drive right past.

No thank you I think I'll pass on this one. I stopped in to ask if they had steamed crabs. I was told that they're tired of us people (Yankees) asking about steamed crabs. I told them that maybe the name Crab Shack and the picture of a big blue crab, might make people think that they did. Then the waitress told me in a bold voice. That when you're south of the Mason Dixon line you eat what we eat. Hello!!! I did mention to her that I was from VA and it is below the Mason Dixon Line. After that I knew what I was dealing with and left. Fine food or not I think I'll spend my money else where.

Not quite up to a seafood buffet the location for dinner for my party of six and two infants fell on my shoulders. My first trip to Myrtle Beach and what better place to find fresh seafood. I have been in similar situations before and if things don't work out a guy could hear about it for the next 20 or so years. I came across this place called the Inlet Crab House which while only having a few short reviews on the webpage I stumbled upon did receive some pretty impressive ratings. It turned out to be a bit of a drive from the Dunes Resort which did not bother me so much as my son in law had rented the car and was doing all the driving. GPS led us to our destination which turned out to be a bit smaller than most in my group expected. Most of my best dining experiences usually come from a place about this size and I kind of liked the funky look and color scheme. A short wait for a table is what I anticipate in any good establishment which gave me time to view the specials listed on the chalk board. Crab stuffed grouper. Gotta try that! Started with some blue crab claws as the appetizer. Lightly coated, golden fried, tasted like they were probably fresh that day. She Crab Soup. WHOA! A Party in my mouth. Secret Family recipe according to our server who was very attentive. One of the best grouper dishes I have ever had and a side of fresh green beans. Service was at a leisurely pace which gave us some time to enjoy each others company. Appeared to be many local patrons which to me is a good sign when it comes to food. After bumping elbows with the tourists at the beach I needed a break. A member of our party seemed to enjoy the house martini. I will be back to this place again soon.

I was so very disappointed after our meal, I won't go back. We have a condo in Surfside and visit as often as we can...love the area. I had heard that the Inlet Crab House was the place to go for crab cakes. My crab cake consisted of more breadcrumbs than crab. My hubby got a chicken dish and it was quite good. Our waitress was very pleasant, but we had to ask for a second beer..things like that...after she served our meal, that was that until she gave us our check.

Was very disappointed, I gave up Flo's to try this restaurant. Heard raves about this restaurant and tried it. The crab cakes were more bread crumbs than crab. Every bite tasted like bread crumbs. My hubby had a blacked chicken alfredo, which was good, but not good enough to go back. Two nights later I had a crab cake dinner at Ruby Tuesday's and the crab cake was excellent.

My husband and I have been curious about this unique little restaurant for a long time. We finally tried it out last year on vacation, and enjoyed the food and service so much, that we returned three more times during out trip. On one occasion, we brought the entire family, consisting of 7 adults and 7 children. We were given top notch service, along with great food. The children were treated as special guests by our very friendly waitress. Can't wait until we eat there again this year. This place is the best kept secret on Murrells Inlet.

We were a party of six (4 adults and 2 children). After reading the reviews we were expecting a serendipity experience... Boy were we disappointed. I thought it was pricey for what we got. Baked potatoes were old and had to send them back for fries. Ordered two seafood platters and most of it was cold or barely warm. Also no hushpuppies come with the dinners!! The She crab soup had shell in it and was nothing special. Crab cakes were mostly filler--not what you would expect at a crab house. If you can't find a better seafood place (which almost any restaurant would be better)' just eat steak or some other chain would be more enjoyable. Will certainly not be back!!!!!!

I'm a local and just discovered this place a few weeks ago. The fish chowder is unbelievable. I've ordered it each time I go. The seafood pasta dishes are also consistently awesome. The live music is great and not too loud if you are seated indoors. Now if I could just convince them to devein the cold boiled shrimp, it would be perfect...

This place is great to take visitors for lunch. The food is exceptional and fresh. Prices are reasonable. This is a small place but not really intimate. Atmosphere is like the name. A crab house. Nothing fancy but the food is great and they serve it fast, hot and fresh.

A very small restaurant and not really what we imagined. We read the reviews and our hopes were up, but very disappointing. The crab cakes were horrible for the price. Very over-priced!!! Not really what we were expecting and would never go back. There are much better restaurants up and down Buisness 17.

Stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon and were extremely happy we did. We had shecrab soup that was delicious. I had shrimp and grits which is a homemade specialty and it was great. Being from PA I don't often sample grits so this was a leap. This was the best meal of the week by far.

Nice place, and staff. Decorated very charming. But we were disappointed in the food. The crab cakes tasted like crab meat out of a can with egg to hold it together, breaded and pan fried. Not what we were expecting. I would say this is more for locals than for tourtists. I wouldn't recommended it..

I ate here last night. It was okay. The basket I had should have been around $8.00 instead of $12.00 because it was mostly french fries. But it was a nice place to duck into from the rain and wind.

She crab soup tasted ok but was frothy and nothing but liquid. No sign of any crab or anything. We ordered the Shrimp and Grits (we were told they were on special for $9.95 when we called in) but when our check came it we were charged $14. We brought this to our waitress' attention but she argued with us and told us we were mistaken. As we departed, we approached the gentleman who was seating the guests and asked about the Shrimp and Grits special and he confirmed that they were on special for $9.95. Oh well, we got taken. We didn't want to argue with the waitress any longer due to the heavy smokers who were depleting the oxygen...so we left for good.

I have been eating at the crabhouse for several years now & I have to say things have changed. The atmosphere is delightful with the music and all the interesting things on the walls, but the quality of the food has gone down as well as the management. My visit there was ok until a customer got really upset & the manager proceeded to yell and scream at her. I also heard the management make rude remarks about there employees & this was very disturbing to me. I will never spend another dime in a place where people are so rude and not appreciative of there workers. I would not advise going to the inlet crab house!.

After reading the internet reviews, we decided to give the Inlet Crab House a try, and we didn't regret it! The prices were reasonable, the portions were good, and everything tasted great. The she-crab soup was delicious. We had fried crab claws, soft shell crab, and crab cakes (hey, it's a crab house!) and all were good. Even the fish in the kids meal was tasty. We would definitely recommend this spot to fellow travelers.

We read the reviews and were especially looking for good seafood, but not a "tourist trap." They did not disappoint. We almost drove past it, so keep your eyes open! The crab soup was just as advertised below... delicious. We would stop here again, should we ever be in Myrtle Beach in the future.

If you are in murrells inlet or myrtle beach you must try it the food is great, we had the carribean grouper wow it was excellent and the selections of martinis were very good, the service was also great, they made us feel like we were on a fun little island, you should try this great little restaurant. We are semi locals, have a place in Surfside and eat here often. One of my favorites at the beach. I love the grouper bites, best fried fish anywhere, I promise, and I'm a big seafood lover and have been on the coast since birth. I also love the shrimp salad sandwich, the creek shrimp are tiny and so good. My husband often gets oysters and they are great too. I am a crab lover, and the crab cake sandwich isn't my favorite, not because of flavor, but because it is fresh, sometimes there is some shell left in it. The atmosphere is great though, actually is the inlet dive, not a new place playing dress up. Locals favorite.

This local eatery is a find. Have been going here for more than 5 years. Good, fresh seafood at reasonable prices. Reminds us of the dockside "fish shacks" along the Long Island and New England shores. Their bacon wrapped scallops are simply delicious.

This is it! The best fresh local seafood in Murrells Inlet. This is where the locals eat. Food is not sitting under a heat lamp... nothing is cooked until you order it. If you are looking for instant service go somewhere else. Inlet Crab House is for someone who wants a meal prepared the way their Mother might have cooked it! Enjoy!!!

this is the gem of the inlet. a great atmosphere. the menu choices let you order items by the 1/4 or 1/2 lb. you do not pay for the fluff on some platters at other places. i was there twice last week. i am somewhat of a local, and this place is my pick. the wait staff is friendly, food is hot and always of top quality. they do offer call ahead seating, but the bar or outside is comfortable for a short wait. the food is definitely worth the wait. i take groups all the time, and have had no one to complain.

I've been to the Inlet Crab House restaurant several times and took three friends here for dinner this past weekend. I am sorry to say that I really shouldn't have bragged on this place to these folks. Most of the food was up to par, except the oysters on the half-shell, which were the most pitiful nothing little things I've ever seen. By the time I scraped the "oysterette" from the shell, there was nothing but a little string to try to get to my mouth! Worse than that, though, was the service; the waitress was so slow on everything, and I had to get up and take napkins and silverware from a nearby table for my party. We had to ask several times for our drinks, our appetizers, and just about anything else we wanted, and after telling her that we wanted our appetizers before our salads, she brought our salads out first anyway, but she only brought two and forgot about the others. To top that off, when I took the "oysters" to the manager and told her that I was dissatis-fied and did not wish to eat and pay for them, she was totally rude to me and told me there was nothing wrong with them. Then the waitress brought my bill and the appetizer was charged to me even though the manager told me she'd take it off my bill. When I sought her out to remind her that I'd been told I'd not be charged, the second manager (the first one had already left for the night) treated me and my guests more rudely than any of us had ever been treated in a restaurant and actually asked us to finish our drinks and leave "her restaurant." We were having normal dinner conversation in normal tones and trying to have an enjoyable experience. She also was so rude as to tell me (and us) not to ever come back into her restaurant! I cannot believe that any restaurant owner would have such a rude person managing his or her business, and I will write to him. It's a shame that such a nice place as Murrell's Inlet and what I believed was a delightful little restaurant would be fouled by such ugly and inexcusably rude behavior. Rest assured that none of us will ever return there, and we wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

This was a lucky find! We were recomended by locals. The restaurant was painted in bright Island colors. The seafood was fresh and not overcooked as we found in several other area restaurants. Some of my family wanted something other than seafood and found the steak and ribs excellent!! Do yourself a favor and try this little gem.
