I ordered a grilled cheese and tomato. Cant mess that up. It was like cardboard. Will not ever eat here again. Has a nice atmosphere and beer but that's it. The service was poor and not very friendly. Pricey to for the type of food they serve. Did not like it at all.

There must be a reason that the HJs place in NMB is rated so highly and this one is being trashed. We ate here several years ago, and it was extremely disappointing. The burgers were tiny and tasteless while the fries only OK. Never been back, never plan on going back. There's too many restaurants in this area to eat at a bad one more than once.

We love this place. Had great service from our waitress K. Although our greeting by another server with big black hair wasn't so great, she had a major attitude towards us. Our server did turn our experience around quickly. The food was ok, onion rings and fries were frozen but tasted great anyway. I would suggest the double burger if you want a big juicy burger. Bbq was excellent and we love the wings! I read reviews of one free refill?? Didn't see that written on the menu or saw it on our bill??? I'm not sure why people are speaking of this....I drank lots of cups of the good sweet southern tea!! We will be back.

I am a resident of Myrtle Beach and my wife went there to try it out tonight on 7/21/12. This has to be the worst place for quality of food I have been to in a very long time. The quantity of food is sparce. My wife had a "salad" which consisted of a small bowl with ice berg lettuce and a few white onions-and this is July when we are in the peak growing season. She aslo had a cheeeseburger which was small and nondescript. I had the "hamburg steak" which was just 2 regular burgers together. The food left a terrible after taste with the both of us. Won't go back there ever again and would try to disuade anyone contemplating going there. Our waitress "J" was very nice and professional and we had no problem with the service. The place just plain sucks. If I were to rate it on a scale of 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, I would rate it as a -2. I didn't try the chicken wings, but this place has the name of "Hamburger Joe's" so one would assume that the hamburger is their best product. Don't waste your money.

I can't rate the food, because we were never served. The place closes at 11, we got there right at 10....one hour left...they were very rude. One girl brought us drinks quickly and told us our waitress would be with is soon....well....20 minutes go by, the other three waitresses in there all looked at us and never stopped by our table...they all continued cleaning. Guess they were eager to leave. As we finally realized no one was ever coming, one of the girls mouthed "thank you", laughed and rolled her eyes! Amazed by the lack of service!

Ok, by now you've read the other reviews. Obviously, folks' taste (and expectations) for burgers vary widely. If you like Wendy's, Burger King, or McDonald's, you'll really like HJ -- same quality of burgers. On the other hand, if you like thick juicy burgers that can be served medium rare (versus well done), then you will NOT like HJ. The burgers are thin and ONLY cooked well done.

Where to begin. The cold burger buns, flavorless meat, the mediocre wings, the tiny portions, or the waitstaff that disappears. Taking forever to be seated though it was mostly empty, and the sad bathrooms. My 7 yr old refused to go in their bathrooms. Totally forgettable..

Food was good, not great. Servers seemed burdened by us being there. Bathroom was pretty dirty, and it was around noon in september, so it was not busy! wasnt expensive either, but you get what you pay for. This place will stay open thanks to the average myrtle beach walmart type tourist who smoke unbrand cigarettes inside of a resturaunt with no taste buds who will spend a dollar to save a dime. Do yourself a favor...spend a few more dollars and go to river city cafe. Read their reviews, their food /service is by far the best in myrtle beach..

I was not impressed with Hamburger Joe's. The atmospher was okay but being served my hamburger on a tiny paper plate and the fries in a tiny paper basket thing was not my idea of eating at a restaurant but at a fast food joint. I thought being a sit down restaurant and being served we would at least have been served on plates or wvwn the regular baskets. My husband and I decided to try it for our anniversary and I was highly disappointed. I should have gone to Sonic for a better burger and fries. The fries also had way too much salt on them. Then when I checked my account about the charge, it was charged $3.00 more than what is on my reciept. I tried to call the number on the reciept and it was disconnected. So I found the number on this site and there was no answer nor answering machine. Don't think I will be going back!!

We were out looking for somewhere different to eat and we came across this place. We decided to give it a try and were very happy with our choice. We got a hamburger steak plate and a cheeseburger. The cheeseburger did have thin meat on it.. But that is what I like and the taste was the best.. The hamburger steak with cheese was my husbands favorite.. The fries and onion rings were great...No one told us that you could only have 1 refill and they keep our drinks filled up and were were not charged any more for all the refills.. The price was great for this area.. We will be back....

For some reason when you get into the parking lot of Hamburger Joe's for the first time you actually have high hopes. When you step inside this nightmarish hell of a burger joint you soon find that all hope will be smashed in an instant. The burger doesn't actually taste like anything. I could not believe they put my lettuce and tomato under the burger patty. My girlfriend really liked the hot dog though. She'll eat anything though...and who in their right mind would even drink Ice House?

Went to Hamburger Joe's tonight...one of our favorite places that we have been to many times. Just love the waitress Amy and owner Harold and Joe. Have always had a great experience eating here. Until tonight. Took out of town company there and was treated very rude. Hotdogs were cold and the second ones were cold. Was told we would not be charged for them. They charged us for them...we did not pay for them. Left a penny tip and that made the waitress VERY mad. Poor service, bad food. Just was not typical Hamburger Joes. We were having a lot of fun with our company till we went there, we just came home after that. We are all part of the over the hill crowd...how did such a mess happen over 4 bad hotdogs? I did do one thing wrong, I raised my hand and told the waitress a couple of tables away that the hotdogs were cold. She did not like that at all!!! :) Sorry! But, they sure did not need to get their panties in the twist they were in! Tonight I am just sick to my stomach and feel like I am going to throw up...I wonder if my food was bad, or maybe it is nerves. Will probably be my last time there to eat, to many places in MB appreciate my business. I will go back to complain to owner.

We went to this place on Saturday around 7:00pm and the place was nearly empty. I ordered a grilled chicken salad and had to throw out 80% of the lettuce. The chicken had no flavor. The chairs were uncomfortable (I guess to keep customers from staying very long). This is not a restaurant we will dine in again.

My family and I needed a quick place for dinner before going to Legends. We were seated right away but it took a few minutes for a waitress to come over, which was okay. The menu is small but the adults ordered burgers and the kids ordered hot dogs. Our burgers were delicious. They were juicy and CHEAP! My son spilled some of his drink but the waitress came over to help & even gave him a $1 to decorate and hang on the wall in there to cheer him up. We'd return for lunch or a quick dinner. It's nothing fancy, but the burgers were tasty!

We went to this restaurant at 9:30 on a monday night. We sat down and no one ever came to our table to ask us if we wanted anything to drink or if we wanted to order. I finally asked someone if we had a waitress assigned to our table and was told they were closing at ten. No one ever came to the table and finally we walked out. When we walked out no one even said good night so I guess the three of us were invisible..

Ok, I know EVERYONE isn't gonna like Hamburger Joe's, but I hate that your experience might've been ruined because of something stupid like, people not showing up for work or teaching new cooks. If you've only been to HJ's once...try it again before your so harsh to write a mean or bad review. Joe is a good man and has worked damn hard just like everyone else in this country, and the managers and staff working under him are the best at what they do. If your looking for a good time with awesome food, HJ's is the place to be. (hey guys...the beer's cheep too!)

One would think that a place call "Hamburger Joes" would specialize in hamburgers.... WRONG!!! We had cheeseburgers and fries and our kids had the chicken tenders and onion rings. ALL of it frozen. The hamburger patties were paper thin and very tasteless! Even the toppings weren't fresh! The lettuce was soured that came pre chopped from a bag!! After taking ONE bite my husband had diarrhea for 3 days after eating there!!! We ran out of drinks and had to ask for our "one free refill" !! I don't know where these people ate that said it was the best burger on the beach but it wasn't the place we ate!! All in all we left really dissappointed and still hungry AND 50.00 buck poorer!!!!!! NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!

This place is good for what it is. They are a hamburger joint and they don't try to be anything else. I had the cheeseburger, my girlfrend had the bbq pork sandwich. Both delicious. The only downside to the service was that I ordered a Heineken and got the light version. I didn't complain and when asked for a refill my order was corrected. Not sure if the waitress realized her first mistake, or made a second by not bringing me what she brought the first time but it really didn't matter to me. All in all, next time I'm in town, I will return and put up a dollar bill on the wall. Enjoy yourselves!!

The only good thing about hamburger joes is the dollar beer. I don't understand why a BLT or Bologna sandwich cost more than a hamburger. The servers act as if they are doing you a favor and don't really care if you come back or not. I have been there a couple of times and have seen servers eating behind the bar while at work. The reason that I will not return is because of the chicken wings that I ordered came out and was not cooked all the way through. I did get more but did not recieve an apology at all. I recomend Fat Jacks for wings and Five Guys for burgers.

Having been a great fan of Hamburger Joe's in North Myrtle Beach, I was so very disappointed to find that the Surfside location was nothing in comparison. Our food was tasteless. The burger's had no flavor, the onion rings were really bad ( hardly any onion taste, just greasy batter ), the hot dogs were bad quality and our server was less than friendly and had very little knowledge of the menu. Furthermore, my mother was visiting from Pennsylvania and couldn't wait to eat there because this has been one of her favorite stops for the past 25 years. She was very, very disappointed as well. We will not be back.

Joe's should serve the appearance of a burger as the ad I seen on t.v. My burger was served grilled properly on top but the bottom had a boiled look to it. The burger patty had no life to it - no sizzle no heat - I did send it back to the cook and received what I should have received in the first place. Excellent in taste and sizzle . Burger, fries and a coke $7.00, a little too much I think. A little more quality control and consistency should improve. If the cook cooked a burger for himself would he have cooked like my first burger or like the second one ?.

My husband and I just moved to Garden City from Maryland this past summer. We stopped into Joe's for a quick bite, and ended up coming in at least three times a week after that! The food is great for the price. The beer is cheap, and most of the servers are very friendly. You won't get a better burger for the great price anywhere else.

Stopped in for a quick lunch one day. Even though we live near Joes, this was a first..(and last). Burgers were just average, fries were just OK. Tea was good but the small 12oz sodd (filled to the top with ice) is limited to 1 refill. There is about 3 oz soda & 9 oz. of ice. Guess it' back to River City & 5 guys for burgers.

I thought the hamburger/cheeseburgers were one of the best I have eaten. They were cooked to perfection and not greasy like most. The onion rings were awesome. It was just a fun place to eat and this is the second time that I have eaten there. BLB

I have seen commercials for this place on TV and was anticipating a great hamburger. Yuck was so disappointed as I could have had the same almost at McFDonalds

We come to the beach at least once a year and we just tried HB Joe's for the first time this trip. If you are looking for a HUGE hamburger and so many FF or onion rings that you can't eat them all, then no...this place is probably not where you want to go. I thought the serving sizes were perfect. It fills you up but doesn't stuff you to the point that you need to let your pants out to breathe. The burger was tasty and the homemade ranch dressing is out of this world (great on fries). Very good sweet tea. I would absolutely go back.

Went for dinner on a Saturday Evening. Five Guys does burgers better. The hamburger at Hamburger Joes tastes like the ketchup is mixed in with the meat. The beer battered onion rings are nothing more than frozen food. Sorry, Hamburger Joes, not very appetizing.

We tried Hamburger Joes for the first time in summer of 2006 and were in fact a bit disappointed. The entire experience was just "okay". Nothing outstanding, just average.

The burgers were good...not great. The fries were okay. Service was good. Tea was good. But nothing that made us say "we have to come here again".

For burgers, we've found that Five Guys are just about the best we have ever tried in Myrtle Beach. I'm not saying that you shouldn't go to Hamburger Joes...but for the money/value/taste, Five Guys beats it hands down.

If your main objective is to drink beer this might be an okay restaurant, but if you want good food go elsewhere. We had burgers, fries, and onion rings. The hamburgers were little flat frozen patties, not even as good as the kind we get at the local little league baseball park at home. They were served on a little tiny paper plate. The servings of fries and onion rings were okay but not that big. It was lunch and we were seated immediately because the place was almost empty but the servers still ignored us most of the time. If you want a good hamburger in a fun atmostphere I would recommend Cheeseburger in Paradise - much, much, better restaurant.

You gotta try the fried bologna sandwich. They will put anything on it you want. Thick fried bologna with all the toppings. Brings me back to MB each year. You can have the sun and sand... I'm here for the fried bologna at Joe's!

Hamburger Joe's was the nicest surprise of my trip down last week. The food (cheeseburger) was excellent, the sweet tea outstanding and the onion rings were out of this world. I look forward to coming back on my next trip and sampling the beer selection. Top notch my friends.
