We wrote a review on Dec. 5, 2011 and we guess we will just have to copy that review all over again. Awesome food, service, cleanliness and all the things you would look for when dining out. Mac, the owner, is so cordial and has gotten to know his repeat customers on a first name basis. Don't miss this place.

We live in Calabash. When we go out for a meal nearby our home, it is always The Grapevine. Mac, the owner, greets you at the door and immediately makes you feel as though you're special. The wait staff are courteous and know their job. No matter what you order off of either the wine list or the menu you can depend on it being served hot and in the appropriate manner. And then comes the best part of all. From the first bite to the last is exquisite. I know this for a fact. The Food Editor from the NY Times stopped there for lunch while passing through Calabash and when he got back to NYC he wrote the Grapevine up in one of his articles and now Mac is getting long distance phone calls from NY making reservations for when they arrive in Calabash. This is the best restaurant in the area.

We have a place at Ocean Isle Beach that we travel to from Pinehurst, NC. At least once a month, we eat at the Grapevine Restaurant in Calabash, NC. The food is absolutely the best. Drinks and the atmosphere plus customer service is awesome. We love all the folks that work in this restaurant as they make sure you are taken care of and receive what you came there for. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere and great customer service. We love you guys.

Live in NMB. Used to go to the Grapevine a LOT. Haven't been in a year or so just because we haven't taken the time to go there. Went in November of 2010 and WOW how things have changed. Used to I would have to get a to go box because the portions were so big. My spouse would be STUFFED when we left. We went in November and I ate EVERYTHING on my plate including the fries. My spouse was still hungry when we left. The service was not great either. That was sadly our last visit to the Grapevine. : ( I will miss it. The food was always good but for the price, it just isn't a great deal anymore.

What can I say but Yummy!! My sister and I have been visiting the Grapevine for years. We live in Charlotte, NC and will jump in the car just to have dinner there. Mac, the owner treats us like royalty when we go, as he does with all his clientele. He greets all customers as they walk in and you can tell the employees are like his family.Every item we've ordered is delicious. There are nightly specials to choose from. There is a great wine selection, great ambiance, and all for a reasonable price. The Grapevine is our favorite place to eat at the beach and never miss a chance to visit. I highly recommend it. Enjoy!!

Went on recommendation 11/05/09 . The service was very good and the food was excellent. Caesar salad was light with a slight lemon flavor, stuffed mushrooms very good and soup in a bread bowl very good and plentiful-could be a meal. Everything we had was very good. We will be back--

My husband and I visit SC several times a year but always travel to Calabash to eat at the Grapevine. Good food, good drink and good service. I look for restaurants that don't have the typical fried foods. The Grapevine has great, gourmet, fresh meals. We've never been disappointed.

It is ridiculous that at lunchtime there is no greeter & 1 server for the ENTIRE restaurant. Visitors are 2nd class; the male regulars from Calabash are taken 1st & served 1st because "they are regulars." Owners should improve management skills -- how to effectively run a restaurant -- & put it into action. Food was OK, nothing special about it.

There is NOTHING bad to say about the Grapevine Restaurant! PERIOD! I have eatten at all the Seafood Restaurants in Calabash and have liked them all. I tried the Grapevine for the 1st time in my life a few years ago and haven't turned back. The Service is GREAT! No matter the wait, the Food is worth it. I have ALWAYS been treated as if I owned the place. I drive from Rockingham, NC on Friday Nights to sit down with their Jumbalya Special and RELAX. Trust me! You won't be disapointed. I KNOW I'll see you there.

This isn't the traditional Calabash style seafood, but it is so delicious, it will make you forget about the fried fish down the road. There isn't anything that compares. It is a MUST for all in the area.

My husband and I eat at The Grapevine each time we visit Sunset Beach. This has been for about 12 years now. We have never been disappointed. We have celebrated anniversaries, birthdays and even Valentine's Day at the restaurant. It is an outstanding place to relax and chat with friends, listen to good music or watch a great game on the TV and of course, dine. The Murrays

My husband and I have a second home in Sunset Beach, and this is absolutely our favorite restaurant of all of them! Sonny (daytime) and Mac (evenings) are such a delight -- they make you feel like family when you come in. Joyce behind the bar is one of the best and most efficient bar staff we have ever seen -- a real pro! The food is absolutely fabulous. We have never had a bad meal. Someone in your party should always try to order the special, no matter what it is. We've never been disappointed. Great wine list, too. This is where the "locals" go, but you'll soon become a "local"! Sandy & Ken Dublin, OH

Lunch time was a disappointment. One waiter for the whole place. Regular patrons are served 1st no matter who arrived there 1st. They need more help. More waiters & busboys might do the trick. Service was way too slow.

First time in Ocean Isle Beach and we were told by Canadian friends that THIS was the place to go for seafood. Were we happy that we listened and made the drive to Calabash from our resort in Ocean Isle. Looks average from the outside; however, fabulous food, service, atmosphere and they were GREAT with our two kids (7 and 9). We are going back to Ocean Isle this summer and we will most definitely be eating at The Grapevine again. We've also recommended it to friends who are going to Ocean Isle at March Break.

We love the food! My fiance thinks they have the best steak he has ever tasted. It's such a nice change from all the seafood places. My family has a second home in Sunset and so we frequent Calabash often. We are thinking of having our wedding rehearsal dinner here because it is that good!

Finally got here and sorry it took so long. Looks like it could be just any other place from the outside but the food is plentiful, tasty and service was excellent. Afterwards, at the bar we were treated to a delightful barmaid who chatted with us and gave us A-1 service with a smile, unusual for ladies to be treated that way. Can't wait to get back there this winter.

We love this place and usually order off the lunch specials menu. Our party of four all had different items off the lunch specials menu and every one of us were satisfied! The waitress could've been a little nicer for sure. She wasn't rude, she just wasn't very nice. That's the only thing that wasn't really enjoyable at our Grapevine lunch.

I live in Raleigh, NC and I'll drive to the Grapevine just to eat!! They have the nicest people working there. The food is the best I've seen in NC. I have travled to Italy, and the Italian dishes are my favorite. They treat you like family. If you drink cocktails, you can't beat the drinks anywhere. Check out their wine list. If they don't have it, they'll get it for you! I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. Suze Q

The service here was outstanding. I ordered the clam chowder in the bread bowl. The chowder was seasoned with fresh vegetables and was one of the best that I have ever tasted. The topper on this is that it was served inside a sourdough bread bowl. Yes a bowl made with bread! Very unique!
