First of all we had a great meal and great service. However, things went down hill after that, while trying to pay our bill i had a coupon and was told it was not accept at this restaurant it was only for the restaurant in Myrtle beach not the on in surfside. (took four people different people to tell me that they cant accept the coupon. Now dont you think that the coupon should state that it can only be used at that particular location? And if its the same restaurant with the same owners the coupon should apply to all locations?) While I was paying my bill a man that identified himself as Romone, and that he did not need our business. I told him I would be posting something on the internet about this and he said "would you like me to sign my name on the recipt so you know my name" Isaid "no just tell me your name" he said "Ramone". After I left I called to speak with management they basically explained that he had given the wrong name.Needless to say there was plenty of language that should not be used with people you are trying to sell your business to. So yes the food was great but RAMONE did NOT do a very good job representing your business! This was located in Surfside next to Walmart.

Me as a hispanic don't recommend anybody eating at this restaurant. We came to myrtle beach on a vacation from nc. The person attending us gave us our cheak of the total as soon as food came because he said he was going to leave home. Okay we was expecting another waitress to serve us but that didn't happen, we waited for 30 minutes and nobody ever came to ask us if we needed more drinks or nothing. We never got refills and after we told the person in the front desk what happened he seem not to care and maybe if he would have said i'll discount an amount of your total because of the issue he didn't nor did he say sorry ! never coming back to this discussing place .

I have high expectations of what a restaurant should be like. I absolutely love going there. The staff is always prompt and attentive. The Manger is personable and makes sure your pleased with your selections. He cares about the level of excellence they provide. As I have already said, I have high expectations and El Cerro Grande has succeeded all that and more. I just hate I could not give 10 stars.

I live in Myrtle Beach area, and have had the opportunity to visit 3 of the El Cerro Restaurants,. The city of Myrtle Beach, Surfside beach which is my personal favorite, and Conway.- as a matter of fact, some ladies I went to High School with are meeting tonight at the Conway El Cerro for dinner. I ;m not sure why I felt compelled to read these reviews but am now glad that I did, because SOMEONE needs to set the record straight. I have noticed some differences between the 3 restaurants .(I always order the exact same thing.) Steak and cheese quesidia. with a cheese dip. which I generously pour on the chips and the quesidia. Its so good I dont share it with ANYONE willingly. Surfside branch provides the best tasting food, large portions, the fastest service and appears to run extremely well because it is always busy, and yet I never have to wait more then just a couple of minutes for anything. I do take out when I am short on time, but prefer to sit down in the restaurant. Myrtle Beach El Cerro- uses a different kind of beef for its STEAK portion of this same dish, and smaller portions. Its rarely busy and the service is no where near the caliber of the Surfside branch. Conway has similar food to the Surfside branch, but the service is not as fast and is more comparable to Myrtle Beach. in that respect. so before anyone trashes the Good name of this Fine Restaurant chain they should try Surfside Branch and THEN write a review.!! Regardless which branch you visit, the prices are excellent, the food is great, and as for service- everyone has a bad day now and then, dont be so harsh. If you INSIST on perfect service then go to Surfside.

I have been going to el cerro since i was 9 or 10 and i am 19 now. El cerro has always been known for great service fair prices and very good food. The all hispanic/mexican staff also added to the atmosphere they also provided service that was on point. I went to el cerro recently 10/11/10 and was stunned to see that entire wait staff had been replaced by white women. I am in no way racist but this instantly made me wonder. My girlfriend and i were seated but waited 5 mins for someone to take our drink ( it was not busy at all either). Our waitress finally arrived with an attitude unfortunately. Her attitude and service was at the most a 1 out of 10. I have never ever seen someone chase a waitress down multiple times at el cerro but witnessed this the entire time i was there. I never got my side of rice with my meal and when i asked the waitress she replied with an attitude "Did you tell the food runner?) My answer was no i am telling you you are my server, she tried to play it off like it was the food runners fault but it was hers because she never once came by to see how our food was. My point is, THEY NEED THE MEXICAN WAITSTAFF BACK if not 90% of their sales will be takeout. I will not be back unless there is a miraculous miracle change in service or if u bring the old staff back.

We have lived here almost 6 years and love this place. For those who say it is not authentic, think again. I moved from the Washington D.C. area where there was an abundant array of the finest restaurants of every nationality cuisine you can imagine. My father lived in Mexico for many years in his military service and gave this place a "thumbs-up" and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food. I enjoy conversing with the Hispanic/Mexican staff who are nothing but courteous. You can not go wrong eating here and MOST should find the food delicious. I am very "finicky" about my Mexican food and I return to this place again and again.

Often I find myself just CRAVING El Cerro!! Someone below said that it tasted unauthentic and like Taco Bell; I don't know where they went, but it wasn't El Cerro Grande. They have the best Mexican cuisine in Myrtle Beach (and surrounding areas too!). I always get the taquitos, and my husband gets something different every time. We're never dissapointed, and we're always extremely full! Love this place!

My husband grew up and put himself through college working in a Mexican Restaurant in Arizona. El Cerro is the tops! We love it and visit it often. My kids, all boys over 14 cannot get enough of it! Clean, awesome service and food. The homemade tortillas & salsa are to die for! Best Mexican Restaurant for the money in Myrtle Beach!

Its better than Taco Bell. If you want a sit down fast food mexican type meal, and want to be able to afford thaking a big group, this is probably the place to go. If your looking for authentic mexican food, check other places. Anyone who gives a restaurant all five stars has to be suspect! LOL

Just stopped in tonight for a few tacos and was floored by the smokey grilled beef flavor. It all starts with a taco and what a surprise. My wife just had a grilled tortilla appetizer with spinach, onion, cheeses, and something else that was wonderful, she made several mmm... noises. Fernando, our server was on it, keeping glasses and nacho baskets full with transparency. Prices are very reasonable and it appeared to be a local favorite . My wife and I felt very comfortable in the relaxed atmosphere, we will back.

I am a huge fan of Mexican food. With that said, I was very disappointed with this restaurant. I would almost believe that the beef used in the tacos, enchiladas, and other dishes was boiled. Absolutely tasteless. The sauce and chips provided were of good quality. The guacamole was good, but it was obvious that it was canned and not fresh. All in all, not worth the time or money. Taco Bell serves better mexican fare.

We just moved to the area, hoped to find a good Mexican restaurant.

Tried El Cerro Grande and was truly disappointed. The food was terrible, no flavor and very bland.

Not what you look for in Mexican food.

Not authentic, even the chips and salsa were terrible.

I definitely will not go back and wouldn't recommend at all.
