I am laughing at the review written 4-27-07. You guys need to scroll down and read it. Chill the freak out people...not everything is a racial issue unless YOU are making it one. And get an attorney....are you kidding? Maybe that is your "Dicks" sense of humor. Anyway everyone it is a fun place to eat. Make sure you have a sense of humor....unlike the above group mentioned. They will insult you, throw menus at you, and whatever else is fun. They give you huge paper hats to wear with an insult about you on them. The food is good. it was bike week,chose your place for the laughs although some didnt understand.
being a bartender,i was totally happily flabergasted. this place is not only fun but ill bet you have a stack of applications a mile high.
my husband(a chef) and myself have been in the biz for over 20 yrs.and the one word we have is refreshing.
most people are so uptight and rushed that they fail to see any humor much less the intended.
thank you for giving us a well needed giggle.
we only had drinks but they were served with smiles.

This place is not for me. I enjoy good food and good service. You won't find either at Dicks.
I really didn't know what to expect when I was taken there by some friends. I had never heard of the place. I tried to play along after I saw what their gimmick was, but I couldn't hardy buy into the punk waiter being such a smartass to us.
I got a little tired of the waiter thowing things at us, so when I threw the menus back at the waiter, that pretty much ended the show for our whole party. He stopped making condom hats and everything.
I would have liked to have enjoyed the visit. I spent over $100 there for five of us to eat.

We visited north myrtle beach as a family of 6 the last week of august 2007. There were 3 adults, 2 16 year old boys and my 6 yr old daughter. My son saw the internet ad for dick's last resort and since we were 5 minutes away we had to go. We were well aware of the "rudeness factor" and that was a large part of the enjoyment. The fact that the food was great was bonus! see all at dick's again soon.. ref: 8191

My son chose the restaurant because he gets a kick out of the rude treatment. But, we found that the waiter(s) were only half-hearted in their attempts to belittle us and only 1/2 the party got those condom-shaped hats to wear. The ribs we ordered were full of fat and gristle and the portions were small. The prices on the menu have gone up while the portions have gone down. In all, we decided that this would be the last time we chose Dick's. There are so many restaurants in Myrtle Beach that there is no reason to put up with mediocrity. ref: 7827

To whoever wrote the review on 4-27-07: You're a douche! Its their job to be mean to you, that's the whole point of the restaurant and hence the name Dick's! Thats why the employees were making comments and threw the menus at you, etc, because its what they're paid to do. You were told where exactly to sit because often more than one group sits at a table. No wonder they were making comments anyway, its obvious you're no fun and have the sense of humor of a cactus. Anyway, I loved Dicks! The food was really good, the drinks were fabulous, and the waitress and the hats were hilarious. Me and all my friends had a blast and will be going back. Would recommend it to all my friends and anyone else with the slightest sense of humor! ref: 7792

Waiter was funny, and a smart ass but in a good way.
When and if you try Dicks, you hafta have some "crab ballz"

We met a group of friends there. What a blast.....the food was great, I had the ribs.... staff was hysterical.....fabulous ambiance. not a place to go if you can't handle a "lot" of ribbing from the wait staff. The hats were a hoot. I can't wait to go back! ref: 7714

Oh the review by Ms "Oak Park Michigan" was eye opening. Not to the events at Dick's but to how ignorant some people can be prior to going to Dick's. Did you not know what this place is all about? We love the food- we don't like the schtick
I informed our waitress we didn't want any hats /wise cracks- just a nice meal- we have been here many times and the waiters have always understood and received nice tips.
She did'nt comply- our meal was rushed- we wer'nt offered
appetiziers-when my kids mentioned it- they came 3 min. B4 our meal came- no tip for princess.

We had been to Dick's last year and enjoyed ourselves. Yeah, the waiters are rude but that is what this restaurant is all about. My big disappointment was that we left the restaurant without the big white hats. When I ask our waiter when he was going to get our hats, he said he didn't have time. But he had gotten the other 2 or 3 tables around us that he was waiting on, their hats soon after they were served their food. It wasn't rush hour. It was the end of the lunch serving hour, about 3:30. I was not happy and our tipped showed it. For the abuse we put up with, we should have came out with our hats. I guess good food isn't the draw here. The food was excellent, but locker room humor befitting young teens is the bill. I'm not old, but I gotta wonder what is so funny about seeing a bunch of grownups with condoms on their heads and bartenders making flatulence sounds. Civility is in the dumptster out back at this joint. I'll not go back. I guess each to their own, but this is just a poor example of what low levels of gimmicks some people willl reach for in order to make a buck. I got a great case of crabs at Dick's and loved it. The perky little waitress thought she had a great butt (which she did) and I let her know about it. I payed for that comment the rest of the evening and couldn't have been happier.
Great band and oh, don't ask your server where the rest rooms are.
Like they say if you don't have a good sense of humor, stay away. ref: 7377

The place is very different frim any aveage restaraunt. The workers through things at you and they leave the food there for you to get and don't hand it to you like polite people. The meals came with very little of what you wanted like 6 shrim for 20 bucks.I would go back for the laughs and the band but not for the food. ref: 7180

I looove this place - I make sure to come through every year and I always buy a shirt - as a matter of fact I am wearing one right now. The best was when i went on my birthday with my father and the "waiter" well, he made it one hell of a 22nd bday!! I've gone to Myrtle for over 10 years and not once had I ever eatten at DICKS until this past year and I must say it was an experience. I can't wait to go back!!! The name goes right along with the servers. They're all DICK HEADS! If you're looking for a place with great food and just want to sit back and have a good time DICKS is the place to go. BE AWARE.... I had my first visit to Dick's last week, I had a blast! I was a little hung over and not much fun, so my friends said...Anyway, the waitress was alot of fun and in no time I was laughing my ass off. The place was like a comedy house, I really enjoyed the wings and ribs they were awesome. Only thing was the beer prices were high, other than that I highly recommend visiting. I love Dicks!! Every year I go to Myrtle Beach, eating there is a MUST!! I tell everyone about it. And suggest it to everyone if they are looking for a good laugh and a good time. I went to Myrtle beach on vacation just a couple of weeks ago. My family heard about dicks how great it is and we had to go to find out for ourselfs...and let me say Dicks was one of the best things we did on vacation. Yah i no u mite say omg u must not of done anything else..yes we did alot of stuff but i like the kind of entertnment. They were really rude but it was great. but we didn't have to wait long..the threw the place mats at u...they made you pass out everyone drinks and they even made you figure out whos food was whos!! it was great.. I got chicken fingers and it was dilcicious and the price is afordable. The hats are the best part..at first I didnt want them but ya I changed my mind. Mine said Future hooters reject!!! lol I luv it..Sum girls didnt like theirs and started crying...if u cant take a joke you shouldnt come to Dicks..cause they tease you real bad...my favorite hat was one brothers hat said my butt hurts and his brothers hat says my finger stinks!! lol I luved it...sumone said I go both ways...haha...i no sum of u dont think its funny but come on take a joke once in a while...I want to go back there when I go to Myrtle Beach and I recommended you and I will recomended other people I no to come to dicks...its great entertnament and great food. ref: 6758

When we went to Dicks, we did not wait very long. We had to sit with another group of people, which was ok but it was uncomfortable at times. The food was served very quickly and it was a good meal, but seemed somewhat expensive for the amount of food that you got. Hello Folks! Hence the name DICKS. The idea is to be rude to you! I dont know about you but I would LOVE to work in a place that let me treat people the way everyone wishes they could every once and a while. Like anything else, if you don't like it don't go and you definitely need a sense of humor. I am from NC and used to go to the one in Myrtle Beach all the time and loved it. Every year we go to the beach, Dicks is a must. My children love the hats. For those who have never been don't expect good service. It says so by the door. There are no menu's its on the wall. DICKS IS A MUST IF YOU HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR ref: 6606

If you choose to go to a restaurant to dine you expect to get the highest quality of food around. If you decide to go to this place you need to be on drugs. Heavy Drugs. You should go here if you want to be P_ ss_ d OFF. I heard of the service here and thought the place had to have the best food in the area to compensate for the intentional mistreatment of the paying guest. Bet I didn't and won't pay for that kind of quality. So if you want to be treated worse than the grumpiest person to go through the local soup line for people who can't afford to buy a meal, then, this is the place for you. This place is amazing... My food was amazing, and the waiters are pure "dicks". Its tha best resturaunt in the WORLD. My favorite is my bib, which says "I got crabs at dicks". Everyone in the entire world should got there... 5 stars... You should travel from all over the country, better yet the world. I can't believe that people are talking crap... If you wanna talk crap about dicks, you must settle it with me first... Dont hate, if you cant handle the dick, stay out of the resturaunt... Hands down the best experience of my life... We got there a hour before they closed. The service wasn't what I had hoped!~ We expected really rude service (as we have seen reviews of how they are rude and make fun of you) and the guy was actually very cool. He threw a fist full of straws on the table when he brought our drinks. He made our hats. My dh's was "My package is so SMALL UPS can't find it." Mine said UPS! My daugther's hat side "I have skid marks in my underpants". Food was OK. Dh orders steak and crab cakes and was GREAT price. I order shrimp. I had hoped it would have been better but it was no more then bar food. The restaruant was on a lake at Barefoot Landing and there are TURTLES out the butt! The one waiter dropped some ribs on a lady and they her a free t-shirt. And the waiter threw the ribs in the lake for the turles and allagator. My daugther was more interested in the turtles then her own food! She kept throwing fries at the turtles. Overall it was a good place. Was kind of concerned about taking our daugther after what I had read but it was great! ref: 6518

My husband, parents and 2 teenage daughters went to dicks this spring while in Myrtle Beach for a cheer competition. We never laughed so hard. We were seated with strangers and we all laughed together. We had straws thrown at us which struck us as odd but was hilarious. Our Waiter was great. He was rude but on the money. Wow, where do I start... Had to got o Dick's everyone talked about it. So, we went we were seated in about 20 minutes. Of course we already knew what to expect but expected better service then what we got. The host sat us and neglected to provide us with menus. The server took for ever to take our drink orders and when he finally did took for ever to bring them out. The food was seriously overpriced. I had a better meal for 10 bucks at a local chinese buffet that offered 120 items. He was not very attentive and apparently let our food sit by the warmer for a while because my crab cakes were warm but soggy. I was very dissapointed with the service, food and over all atmosphere of the restaurant. Won't go again and won't defenitely recommend it to anyone. ref: 6093

My sister and I visited Dicks with our young teen daughters. The food was great and the atmosphere was phenomenal. We didn't stop laughing the whole time. We all talk about it at get togethers. i visited your restaurant and i won't go back to another one. the waiter (or should i say he meets your name (dick head). was terrible. the first thing he did was throw straws at everyone, well i was the lucky one that got hit about 3 times in the face, but i remember how the restuarant was and kept going. well someone at the table threw some napkins and the waiter turned in to a butt head. i bet it took 45 minutes to get waited on. if it had not been for the waiters behind me and watching them i would have left. those 2 guys (waiters) were awesome. i had never eaten there before so i was warned that i might get a waiter that just wasn't with the atmosphere, and boy did we ever. i did not eat that night, and again would never eat there again. i told the two waiters behind me when we did leave that they needed to give our waiter some tips. ref: 5879

My fiance', father-in-law to be and myself stopped into your restaurant, for the first time, on April 23, 2007 around 16:30 hours. We were greeted by a young man who checked my fiance's I.D. and asked for his hand. This person was about to put an ink stamp on his hand and my fiance' asked why. This person said that it was to show that he was old enough to consume alcohol. My fiance' asked if he had to do this and the reply was, "Fine, if you want to be an old man about it." My fiance' stated, "No, I don't want that." This person got three menu's and walked past several empty tables to a table for twelve that was up against a railing. This person "told" us, and indicated with body language, that one of us was to sit on one side up against the rail and the other two of us were to sit directly across. My father-in-law to be headed down the first side and we slowly followed the young man down the other side. My fiance' stopped about half way down and I was still close to the end. The young man stated to my fiance', "go all the way down." The young man then preceeded to throw the menu's onto the table in a pile and said, "here." The young man left the area and as I approached my fiance' I noticed that there was a large puddle of liquid on the table where my father-in-law to be was told to sit. I warned him of this and he sat one chair away. My fiance' then stated, "hell no, we aren't staying here." Frustrated, he left the restaurant as I waited for my father-in-law to back out from the table and I followed him towards the doorway. As we approached the host area the first young man was talking with another young man and a young woman. The two men had smirks on their faces and my father-in-law said, generally to all three of them that, "we've changed our minds. We won't be staying." The first young man said something about coming back and then the second young man said, " yeah but don't bring the big old man," and they laughed to themselves. My father-in law- to be said, "well thank you but I don't think so." The offer to return was repeated by the first young man and again the second young man made a comment about not to bring the "big" guy. They were smirking still and this time the statement came out with an attitude. My father-in-law to be said, with conviction, "that's my son you're talking about!" and I chimed in, also with conviction, "that's my husband you're talking about!. We have several questions regarding this interaction at your restaurant. 1. Why only card one of three people in the group? 2. Why were we "told" exactly where to sit? 3. Why were we taken to a dirty table when there were many available? (we only noticed four other people inside during our brief stay) 4. Why were the menu's thrown onto the table? 5. What were the two men smirking over? 6. Is it your policy to have employees be rude to potential customers and then insult them on the way out? 7. Is it possible that this was racially motivated as we were a mixed party? Should we speak with any of our friends or family regarding this experience our remarks will not be favorable. Not to be malicious but to spare them the rudeness and mistreatment that we experienced. We also plan to consult an attorney as to the content of the interaction we were exposed to. I have to say I was a little scared when I heard what I was in for at Dick's. But what really threw me off was how amazing everything was. You would think it would be just a burger joint, but the food was pretty "upscale". The atmosphere was awesome, the waiters were hysterical, it was so much to take in. The hats they give out are hysterical. I might just be 14, but having my hat say "I play with naked barbies" was one heck of a laugh. They do keep it clean for younger children, which is very nice to see. But to be honest the wait for the restaurant was ridiculously long, but after my experience it was totally worth it. It is a very fun place, but don't go in prime times (like spring break). I called ahead and asked when is a less busy time, and they said come before 6pm, at 5:30pm we were told the wait was 45 min. and we waited 1hr 30min for a party of eight. TIP don't come hungry the food is not good, portions are small and expensive. Eat somewhere like T-Bones (also at Barefoot Landing) where the food is excellant, then just have an appetizer and a beer and enjoy the FUN, and you might get out with a bill under $25 each. ref: 5411

My family and I went to Dicks last resort in myrtle beach July 2006. It was our first time, and we had a WONDERFUL time. My 16 year old daughter and 17 year old niece didnt know about the rude part, and at first they kept looking at me and my husband like our waiter had lost his mind ! But they caught on quickly. It wasnt real crowded the day we went so we got very quick service. Our waiter was great. My family has been there each time we visited Myrtle Beach. I have to say this is truly the best place to visit. The food is good and the price right. But you go for the atmosphere and good time. I have a 10 year old daugther and every time we go the waiters/waitress keep it clean for the kids. If you don't want to have a good time don't go. But if you are looking for a time you'll laugh about for the rest of your lives definiately go. Dicks is what Myrtle Beach is all about. We even brought our friends who are very conservative and a little stuffy and they even had a great time. My wife and I are snow birds and have enjoyed great "Happy Hour" drinks and food at "Dirty Dick's" for the past 4 or 5 years. We regret to report that the former good-time's at Dick's are no more. We could not believe the change this year. A once great place to spend an afternoon or evening is now a sad shadow of itself. We did not bother to order any food after paying almost $7 for 2 flat beers at 4:30. When I asked the bartender what happened, his only comment was "We don't do that anymore!!"... a direct quote. Went on our last vacation and although we knew the type of resturant Dick's is, I thought they were totally over the top. We took our son and his friend (both early teens) and the comments written on all our hats were really vulgar considering their ages. In addition, if I want to eat frozen crab cakes, I can buy them at the grocery store. Our bill for 4 came to $140.00 (before tip) which was insane for the poor quality of the food. I have always heard how great Dicks was. Well, I finally went and it wasnt. No hats, no fun, nothing! We were seated after about an hour and a half, which is fine when you are going to have a blast, and we were seated outside. We were the only ones out there and our waitress didnt come to ask us what we wanted to drink for 40 minutes. She wasnt rude like we had hoped, just kinda out there. She really did forget about us because we were the only ones outside. She finally got us drinks, took our order, and then forgot to put the order in. We waited forever! This year we went to see the Womans Tattoo contest.
We were disapointed that the contest turned out to be a strip down naked contest and the winner had the least and lamest Tattoo of all the contestants and she was ugly as sin. But she stripped completely naked. A house full of drunks were the judges.There were a few women with beautiful Tattoos. We felt bad for them because they didn't have a chance against the naked gal. My husband was in basic training in San Antoino and we went to Dicks. My dad, being a preacher, and my husband and his dad playing a fast one on us. It was so funny. At first i was pi**ed because they were being rude but the joke was on me. Any whoo I loved the food I ordered, it was excellent. And the people were just so funny. ref: 2063

We recently visited Dick's for the first time! We loved it! It was very comical and entertaining. The chicken tenders and fries were terrific and so was our waiter. What a trip!! Hope everyone has as much fun as we did there! ref: 1996

What a fun place! I go there several times during bikeweek and I love it. I would not miss it for anything. The rather large lady that works at the t-shirt sale counter is a trip, and a real sweet heart! She gave me hard time before I bought a T-shirt. So when I bought one, she asked if I needed a bag with that, and I said yea, are you coming with me! She then threatened to kick my ass!
The food is average for a choke and puke type place, but the atmosphere is awesome. Everyone, including the staff, gets to act like the asshole that they have always wanted to be, but can't do it anywhere else. What a nice break from reality! I shall return! ref: 1971

I went in to this place totally understanding the concept and welcomed it to have a good time. Wow. This place is just really bad. They'd be better off charging you $5 to stand there for 60 seconds and insult you then send you on your way. The food is just horrible. I wouldn't even suggest this to my worst enemy. ref: 1957

When visiting during bike week or in the summer with the kids I've been to Dick's several times and always enjoyed the atmosphere. The kids love it. However if it weren't for the fun atmosphere I wouldn't eat there. The food is below average for the price. In fact the only reason I went last summer was because the kids insisted. I did not order anything to eat and the kids did not finish their meals because of the poor quality. You are paying for the entertainment. ref: 1898

this place was great. i had a blast when me and my family went there. it so frickin halarious. the hats are so funny. You have to have a great sense of humor to eat there. otherwise its just a waste of time. i recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good time. its also a great place to go with your friends. ref: 1894

I went to dicks for 4th of july weekend and it was the highlight of the trip... Sat outside and had a rousing time as the waiter highlighted my boyfriends down falls and my "kinky" nature on our hats. I can't wait for enough time to go to Dicks again....And I will.
My advice is before you send someone there... make sure they have a good sense of humor. If you have never been there... ASK ABOUT IT. Us army folk have a great sense of humor so it pays off. ref: 1883
