I am a local and have been a customer of the Dead Dog Saloon for the past four years. I have always brought friends or out of town guests to the restaurant. On my last visit I noticed the menu had changed and food portions and quality has gone down. I had the chicken salad sandwich - nothing to write home about - very bland and the cole slaw was warm & $5.50 for a glass of house wine! That's crazy. There are other places close by with not necessarily the same atmosphere with better value. I don't mind paying if you get what you pay for. ref: 6641 |

Have been vacationing in Myrtle for the past 4 years and have made the Dead Dog Saloon a regular stop. People were real friendly and the best burgers around. The atmosphere on the water is a nice touch.
Got to get the shirt, it is a real conversation piece when I'm out and about back here in the north. Will be back. ref: 6288 |

Recently moved to the area and came in with my family. There is no place better to enjoy a good meal, meet great people, and absorb and incredible atomosphere. The Dead Dog has it all, great locals destination & a tourist magnet. Try the tenderloin bites...also the burgers are the best i've ever tried!. ref: 5719 |

We ate there on New Year's Eve and plan to never go back. I cannot understand the good reviews here because that was certainly not our experience!!
We arrived very early and were seated immediately. The hushpuppies, which we had to ask for, were cold. My sister's grouper was NOT cooked, my pasta in the shrimp scampi was cold, and the bread served with the pasta was BLAH. The drinks, served in small plastic cups, were awful and expensive. The waitress was not attentive, we waited for ever to order drinks. Our total bill was $76 for the two of us. I felt completely ripped off. We had PLASTIC baskets and a big roll of paper towels. You certainly don't get what you pay for there.
The "entertainment" was the Mullets, which I saw described as "South Carolina's Second Best Band." If that's all you have to offer, please come up to North Carolina.
The seafood is far better in Calabash and Morehead City and Beaufort, NC.
We were incredibly disappointed with the Dead Dog. Maybe it should rest in peace. ref: 4587 |

I head to the Murrells Inlet area every few months and I make it a point to stop at Dead Dog with my friends. Have been there about half dozen times and haven't been disappointed yet, including a stop in for drinks/appetizers and then again for lunch on my most recent trip. On each visit we have either sat in the bar area out back or on the deck. The food has been good on each occasion, and the wait staff is super. No complaints from me. It is what it is... a nice place to kick back, have a couple of cocktails and bite to eat, and enjoy the atmosphere & environment. ref: 3752 |

We visited the Dead Dog July 4th 2006 while waiting to be seated at Drunken Jacks, which was going to be about an hour and 1/2 wait.We actually went up to the bar to get some beers while waiting and were listening to the music. We checked out a menu and decided the food and prices looked attractive so we put our names in and decided to dine here. The prime rib was excellent and the rib eye steak was as good as I have ever eaten. I recommend this restaurant highly and frankly think it is a better value for your money than Drunken Jack's. The walk along the marsh with a cold one is beautiful and relaxing while waiting to be seated. ref: 2879 |

My family and I visited your resturant on June 28th, 2006 in great hopes of a good meal. and service. We a were greeted and seated promptly and had a very sweet and personalbe waitress. All six of us, five adults and one child gave the waitress our dinner selections. She brought our drinks and appetizers to us as we waited for our meals. We then waited over hour for our food and had to asked our waitress several times about our food. She went back to the kitchen and asked each time and was told that it would be out shortly. Each wait became longer and we were about to leave, and she continually apologized fot the delay. We finally got our food a hour and 45 min later. We proceeded to eat and our food and it was luke warm and my husbands food was hot on he outside but the inside but it was cold in the middle. We sent it back and it came back cold again and it still wasn't very good. Mine was luke warm and only ate a few bite of mine. We spent $140.00 on food that was of poor quality and that the resturant doesn't take the pride that is needed fro thier customers. We had a great waitress, but I hope the managment improves along with thier food. My rating is below average to poor. Needless to say we won't return. We were on vacation and loved where we stayed in Garden City, but unfortunatetly, we had bad food and service at the Dead Dog. Very unsatisfied customers. ref: 2777 |

My husband and I went to Dead Dog for dinner. I had the crab cake dinner and my husband had the prime rib dinner. This was the worst meal I have ever had. The crab cakes were burnt, with way too much filler and way too little crab, the mashed potatoes were horrible and the green beans came out of a can or were frozen. My husband said that his prime rib was the worst he has ever had. I would never go back for dinner again but I would go back for lunch and stick with the hamburgers. The view was wonderful and the staff was very efficient and friendly. ref: 2538 |

We had a late lunch at the Dead Dog Saloon and we enjoyed the dining very much. No waiting to seat, and we found it was very organized too. Excellent waitress, very nice table inside, because it was windy that day. We had crab cake sandwiches with fries and it was cooked to perfection. We will go back again. We really had a nice view of the inlet too. Lois @ Smith Mt Lake,VA ref: 2286 |

Stopped by here for lunch on a rainy Friday afternoon. Still able to sit outside on the deck, as it is covered. Had the sauteed grouper sandwich that was delicious - great seasonings. Also, the oyster po' boy was very good. I have been to the Dead Dog for drinks on a previous trip and sat at the outside bar and enjoyed myself then... the bands seem to have a reputation for being good, and the band I saw that particular Friday night did not disappoint. Will definitely visit again. ref: 1460 |

We were very excited about the reviews on this website only to find out that the outdoor seating that everyone raves about, is beautiful, but the band plays all night. The music selection was good, but very, very loud. The waitress was excellent and was very attentive and polite, even when a dish came out wrong. What really appalled us was when the manager came over and told us that the meal was cooked right and if you went inside to the kitchen, in the correct light, you would see. It took a little coaxing, but she finally agreed to remake the meal correctly. The food was alright, but we left with a bad taste in our mouth. ref: 932 |
