My wife and I went there while enjoying the Marsh Walk. We only had appetizers and drinks however, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this place! It was slightly loud however, we wer sitting right next to the stage where a lady was playing the guitar and singing, no problem, thats to be expected. As for length of time to be seated, we were seated imediately at a time when they were very busy. Service was acceptable as well considering how busy they were and the type of restaraunt this is. People complaining in these reviews fail to realize this isnt fine dining but rather a bar with a nice view. Prices are not out of line at all as you get what you pay for. Look around people, it's not a 5 star restaraunt so don't judge it as if it were! One of my favorite places to visit and relax! ref: 27241

My wife and I love Creek Rats. We visit MB twice a year and always eat there. Our two kids like the relaxed atmosphere and amazing views. Shrimp Ruben light on the sauce is worth a try. We've been to most Murrells Inlet restaurants and this is still our favorite. It's casual-not fancy. Great for lunch or early dinner. ref: 27123

We ate lunch at Creek Ratz our first day here. The crab cake and shrimp were excellent. The waitress was attentive and friendly. Overall, a welcoming experience to Myrtle Beach! ref: 25940

My wife and I got a "date day" out (courtesy of the grandparents) and decided to stop down to Murrells Inlet and the Marsh Walk down there. Creek Ratz is one of the restaurants along the walk and after walking down the pier, we stoped in and had lunch. I had the Creek Rat Reuben (Shrimp instead of Corned Beef) and my wife had the Grilled Fish Sandwich. We both LOVED our food and we told everyone in our party that we need to hit Creek Ratz up when we come back next year. Good food, good pricing, and great atmosphere! ref: 25893

My family and I vacation every year in Murrells Inlet and one of our favorite restaurants to dine at is the Creek Ratz. The service is good, food is delicious especially if you enjoy clams , hush puppies and fried pickles. They make the best fried pickles! The bands are great and the views are just breath taking. Would recommend this place if you're seeking a casual but entertaining dining experience. ref: 25718

We like the place but we have had 2 bad experiences.
The most recent, we wailted 90 min to be seated which was fine.
We ordered and our food came on time. We eat and the waitress brought the check. She said that we could stay as long as we wanted. I paid the bill of $65.00 and enjoyed the music. The hostess came and said that there was a 90 min wait time and we needed to leave. Why would anyone wait 90 min, spend $65.00, and after 30 to 45 min be told to leave. Not me anymore .

We ate at Creek Ratz while visiting Myrtle Beach week of April 23, 2012. This review is based on an "off season" visit of this location. Creek Ratz is a great location with great views to the inlet from just about any seat.
Service was friendly and prompt. One minor disappointment for me, being a draft beer fan, only bottle beer was offered. However, the beer selection was outstanding and more importantly, it was very cold! Our food order in total was very good and served promptly. We had raw oysters on the half shell, as an appetizer, which were excellent. I would go as far to say the best oysters during our entire stay with the freshest taste and best flavor. I ordered crab cakes, which had very good flavor, nice texture and cooked perfectly (grilled not fried). My wife ordered sloppy joes (as a break from our week of fish). The sloppy joes had great flavor, sufficient quantity, and a fresh bun.
We would return and recommend without reservation.

We had an excellent experience tonight at Creek Ratz! We came in with 14 people and the hostess told us it would be 25-30 min due to the poor weather and the outside seating not available. While we were waiting the manager came by and asked if he could get us anything while we were waiting, we go out to eat alot and I have never seen a manager do this! It was great!! We were sat in the correct time frame the hostess gave us and our server was great!! She kept all of our drinks filled throughout our dinner and was very attentive. The food was delicious and also came out very fast. It was our first time here and I was very impressed from the time we entered to the time we left! Thank you Creek Ratz!!!! ref: 24910

We vacation in Myrtle Beach every year and like to have lunch at Creek Ratz and to sit outside by the water. Delightful service, good food, best Bloody Marys ever. Great atmosphere, makes us feel like we're in the islands. This is a yearly destination for us. ref: 24193

Loved the food! Nice bar so yes there is bar noise but kid friendly yes! I really am excited to come back on tuesday night from 4-7pm for happy hour food specials and drink specials $2 tuesday! whohoo excellent fried oysters and fried crab stuffed mushrroms! We have been coming here for years. We have always had good service and great food. I come here about seven times a year while on vacation. This is more of a bar atmosphere people stay to listen to the live music. We will continue to come back. ref: 23643

We visited on 6/30/11 for son's birthday w/party of 6 adults. We waited 40 minutes, although there were tables available 15 minutes prior to us being seated with no one being seated at those tables. Waitresses all seemed to be rushing. Our waitress had a very large table next to us so we placed drink, appetizer and meal order at same time to avoid a lengthy wait for meal as restaurant was extremely busy. Food was no different than a fast food restaurant yet prices were higher than"fast food" prices. We are locals and will not return until reviews show improvement.Too many other good restaurants in Murrells Inlet and surrounding areas. Only positive was we ate outside and the breeze was great and you had a wonderful view of marsh and the marsh walk. ref: 23129

Unnecessary lengthy wait times. I've waited patiently at busy restaurants but after a 45 minute wait outside before being seated and see multiple empty tables while more customers waited outside while hostess got her act together is sort of irritating. Tables would be vacated for 20 minutes before new customers were seated. No wonder the waiting! I saw all this because it took another 45 minutes for our order of sandwiches to arrive. Food was pretty good and reasonably priced but not worth over two hours. Prev. Night we had eaten at a busier neighboring restaurant and had much more reasonable wait times.. ref: 22771

Food was alsome ,stopped in for lunch on a sunday not that busy , but it was like the waitress didnt know what table , that they had to work ,there was three different girls ask the table next to us , if they could get them something to drink , and they waited 10 min to get there drinks . My wife and I arrived for super about 5:30. We did get in the patio right away. Last night, there was a waiting line outside.
The table was dirty and sticky and had to get the hostess over to clean it off. The menus were dirty and sticky. We ordered clam chowder soup and salad. They only brought one soup, and we had to ask for that. They soup was not thick, but very watery. The salad was OK.
We would not go back. All the other restaurants of Murrels Inlet were far superior to this dive.. ref: 22139

How many ways can I say fabulous? I promised myself a good seafood dinner while visiting here from the cold north. I picked this place because it had the most cars outside - usually a good sign. I was not disappointed. The grilled flounder was out of this world, and the home made potato salad was excellent. The only thing that would have improved the experience would have been real plates and not plastic baskets lined with paper. I will definately go back!

Had a great time at Creek Ratz! My husband and I have been visiting Murrells Inlet for several year now, and this stop is a must! We love the girls, who remember us from LAST YEAR- even what we drink! The local oysters are fantastic, as well as the fish tacos. I recommend getting them blackened. Some drunk guy at the bar was yelling and screaming profanities with his (what looked like college buddies). Not only was I sitting there with my children but there were many other families there with their children as well. My server apologized for the guy and said she would alert her manager. As she did, the manager stumbled out and after talking to the guy for a few minutes proceeded to take a shot with him, standing at the bar. The sad thing, it was only 5 pm. My server tried to move us out of earshot of the guy but the drunken manager was no help at all. Will not go back. ref: 21427

Creek Ratz is fantastic. A plate of fried shrimp and a view of goats frolicking with peacocks, what more could you ask for?
Even the pizza is decent (a rare find in the area), but the seafood is fresh and fabulous. The outside seating is wonderful, and if you're lucky your table will be visited by a friendly black cat. ref: 20656

We stopped at 7:00pm and put our names in, we were seated at 8:45. With a party of 12 we are always aware it will take some time. They sat us out by the pier in the gravel. Nice view! and far enough away from the bad music. The waitress was very slow, she took our drink orders and 20 minutes later brought out drinks, then took our food order. Over an hour later, after complaining, our food arrived. The food was just OK. The waitress took forever to get refills on drinks, and to get our checks. With all the restaurants to pick from, I don't think will be back. ref: 20218

We visit Myrtle Beach every year. We make Creek Ratz a must visit at least once every trip. I think the people who gave the restaraunt a bad review miss the point. Its not a restaraunt, its a bar. Its a fun bar with lots of cordial people. And usually lots of good loud music. The food is bar food served on paper plates and in paper trays. Burgers are good, pizza is good, but we love the hush puppies. My favorite is the clam boat. The clams are hot and crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. My wife likes the fried oysters. The prices are very reasonable. And you can come in shorts and T-shirts. The BEER IS COLD: what more could you ask for? If you want really great food, great service, and great attmosphere try the Aspen Grill in myrtle beach.A 5 star steak house with a great wine menu. And reasonably priced for the quality. ref: 19803

We are locals and have often taken visitors to this restaurant. What happened?Earlier this week the service was beyond poor and the food not as good as in the past. The waitress was horrible...ordered wrong entree for my husband, gave me two and a half hushpuppies ( I kid you not ). Worse of all was when my husband's correct entree came, there was no b utter or dipping sauce in his basket. He asked for butter and the the waitress replied " There is some, right there!" pointing to my little packet of butter!!! I guess she thought that we were old and blind and couldn't see the butter in MY basket! Unbelievablely rude little girl!! What a mistake in taking my husband there for Father's Day...he deserves much better. NEVER AGAIN!!!

We are locals and have taken visitors to this restaurant in the past. What happened? Now, i would not take a chance and take guests there. The service was very poor. We had a waitress who ordered the wrong item for my husband, and I was served two and a half hushpuppies .

Then ,when my husbands corret meal came out, he was not given any butter for his hushpuppies. He asked the waitress for butter and she pointed to MY little packet and said " there is some right there". ( as if to say we were old and blind? ) Never again!! My friends and I were on the Marsh Walk and decided to eat at Creek Ratz, BIG MISTAKE. The service was poor and the food was even worse. There were 7 of us and NO ONE was happy about anything. I am a local and was embarassed by this restrauant. What was passed as a shrimp po boy didn't even resemble a sandwich, just a pile of overdone shrimp on 2 pieces of dry bread, 2 small pieces of tomato, a sliver of lettuce. the only good thing was the view. We vacation in MB every year but somehow just discovered this place, and we love it. We will definitely be back often. The food is incredibly cheap for the quality. The staff was super friendly and even gave us tips on places to go during our stay. Love the outdoor seating overlooking the marsh walk - I am amazed at the bad reviews of this place. Several people complained they could not be seated outdoors during the peak of the busy tourist season - of course this place is very popular and if you want to eat outside you have to be prepared to either get there really early or wait a while for a table. And as for the food, this is not a fancy 5-star restaurant, but it is a nice, incredibly affordable place to eat. You can't expect gourmet cuisine, but if you ask me the food is fabulous. Try the pizza - we stopped by on a whim on our way to the airport on our last day and split a pizza and it was unbelievable! By far the best pizza I'd had in a long time, not something I'd think to order but I'm glad I did! ref: 17368

To start off we were a party of 6 (4adults 2 preteens) that stopped in for lunch. Inside table as outside did not have table available.Very disappointed with both the food and service here. After 10 minute wait for order to be taken it was another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Seafood rueben was awful lacking any substance as was the Grouper sub, fish taco was mediocre at best. Came for something different in seafood, what a big mistake. The only thing of value was the burgers the kids ordered, they were almost as good as Five Guys. Have been coming to Huntington Beach SP for 15+ years so very familiar with places to eat here. Will not return as there are too many places along the road here that are much better. ref: 16445

It took FOREVER to be seated, and I broke down and ordered a too-expensive daquari while I waited. A very annoying large family group TOOK OVER the waiting area and decided to eat there. They were very loud. This shouldn't be allowed, because there were many people waiting for their tables who couldn't sit in the waiting. Locals, perhaps? Anyways, the jalapenos appetizer was jarred jalapenos deep fried. I don't know why, but I expected fresh ones, not jarred. They were average. The blackened chicken tenders were also just average. I wanted more blackening seasoning, b/c they were a bit bland. They could use some sort of relish, chutney, or inventive sauce on the side. I felt like everything was a little bland on the menu. I wanted more inventive, creative food. They need an overhaul!
The atmosphere lulled me into a good mood, and many people let this fool them into thinking the food is great, but not me. ref: 16142

Was unfortunately the worst part of our vacation. We waited for 2 hours and never did get seated for dinner. The "manager" was rude and obviously did not have control over the seating and table turn process. We were deeply disappointed and would not return nor advise anyone to waste their time. My husband and I lived in Myrtle Beach for six years and this was hands down one of our favorite spots. Not only was the atmosphere great, the live bands and the DJs that entertained were always great and made the experience even better. The hushpuppies were out of this world! We vacation every year in Myrtle Beach and Creek Ratz is one of our stops. Since we were a party of 7, I called ahead and they did save a table for us at 5:30. If you order the right things the food is very good. My wife and I shared the blackened flounder and it was excellent. So was the fish sandwhich, Burger and chicken fingers my kids ate. Service was prompt. The only complaint was the music on the porch was too loud (were seated next to the speaker). Otherwise a great choice once again. ref: 15794

Visited last weekend in May 09. Blonde girl waited on us and we never heard the specials. Dark hair lady working also was very helpful to her customers and worked circles around our waitress. By the time we recieved our meal oysters were dried up and cold. Peel and eat shrimp overcooked probably sat under a heat unit too long waiting on our waitress to bring food out. We are locals and have been coming here for years. We seem to have favorites at the restaurants we frequent, and we come here for their chicken strip baskets. We love either grilled, fried or buffalo styled. The basket comes with 4 large chicken strips (I can eat only 2), cole slaw, hush puppies and fries. We enjoy sitting outside under the umbrella'd tables and looking out at the inlet waterfront. It is a beautiful view and very relaxing. Come early, those tables are the first to fill up! The only grievance we have is that there really doesn't seem to be a smoke-free section anywhere. For this reason we don't come as often as we would like. Alot of restaurants are going smoke-free, wish this establishment would as well. ref: 14540

Had the Rueben, it was listed as the speciality. If so, I'd hate to have their non -speciality. Rec'd a thin slice of meat, on a soggy sandwich, didn't notice sauerkraut at all. Too expensive for what you get. Definitely, wouldn't recommend this place ref: 13896

I love this place...food is very good (bacon cheeseburgeris fantastic, along with their wraps) love the atmosphere watching the birds, squirrels and the resident cat (who loves handouts). only one negative and they had the music a little too loud...with all the beautiful nature around you the music could of been turn totally off or way down. You can eat inside or they have a covered patio that can be enclosed or opened up on real nice days or you can eat outside. Pelicans, Egrets, Herons, Loons and Seagulls all flying about 20-30 yard away. WONDERFUL way to spend a relaxing afternoon. ref: 13869

This is where you go for a view, for ambience, and a very reasonable check. The food is basic, fresh, and quite delicious. Try the raw oysters, and especially the clam chowder. Live music adds to the scene, and I must come here at least once on every trip to the Grand Strand. Service could be better, but you would be nit-picking. We have been aware of this place for a few years but never stopped until this past vacation. Seated promptly, service very good and attentive. The atmosphere and setting are supurb. We like the relaxed setting as we don't need high backed leather chairs or fine china to enjoy good food. I think the prices were a touch high but outrageous ...and the band Shamalama are nothing short of amazing. These guys (Phil & Mickey) really made the evening perfect. Great music of all types...not that thump thump rap garbage (which isn't music anyway Warm nite, good food, great music and attentive service all in one place...TRY IT...you'll like it!!! ref: 12990

My family and I go to SC every year for vacation. When we get in, this is where we go for lunch. The food is good (try the Creek Ratz Ruben and the fried pickels, YUMY!), and the atmosphere is good too. It has a nice view of the water. We are going down to SC on Saturday. This is a wonderful place to take visitors to the area. The seafood is great and so is the service. My favorite times to go is in the winter when it is less crowded. They have a great fireplace which makes it cozy. Bang for the buck! You'll meet the owner and locals who are very friendly and will strike up a conversation. Eat seafood here. However, there is a Ruben sandwich that is very popular. The back deck area has a peacefuness to it. ref: 12085

My wife and I ate at Creek Ratz last night. We were told that the wait was going to be 45 minutes (which is expected for a busy Murrels Inlet restaurant); however, we were seated after only 15 minutes. I ordered the flounder po boy and was very surprised at how good the flounder was. It was obviously a fresh piece of fish. My wife ordered the chicken fingers and they were enormous. They were also fresh and not frozen chicken fingers. With both of us drinking water, after tax and tip we got out of there for $21.50. So the restaurant is very affordable. The only negatives I could say about the restaurant is that the entire restaurant is smoking. If you hate cigarette smoke, this probably isn't the place for you. There is lots of noise with a band; however, I don't mind it because it gives a nice, relaxed, beachy feel. I will return to Creek Ratz. ref: 11996

We have visited Creek Ratz many times over the last five years. It is one of out "must do's" when we visit Myrtle Beach/Murrells inlet.
We have never been disappointed. We don't expect five star dining or service but we do expect a good value. It is a fun dining experience. ref: 11060

We go there all the time and it's a 50 mile one-way ride for us. They have the BEST homemade Manhattan clam chowder I've ever had! Never had a meal we didn't like.

I'm a local and I've tried this place 3 times. Each time the food wasn't that good and the fries are soggy. The atmosphere is great though with a wonderful view of the inlet. Skip dinner and just have a drink here. Avoid the fries-they still can't get them crispy. ref: 9640

Food was great, no more pricey than all the other places at the beach. Service was good and attentive, friendly personnel. It's a very active place so it was noisy, but fun. We have been to this restaurant several times in the last few years and the food and service has always been good. It's a fun place to take the family and there is even a long boardwalk along the shore where you can see crabs, oysters, and many different types of birds. My party of three ate there last Saturday evening. We were seated very fast. The food was good, but very overpriced for the portions. My daughter and I shared the Dolphin & Shrimp combo-the Mahi-Mahi was very small but VERY good. There were only 5 shrimp, a small cup of cole slaw, but a basket full of french fries...all for a whopping $15.95. They should make the seafood portions bigger and the greasy fries much smalller. Well, I can't tell you how many times we've returned to Creek Ratz. This year, we went in almost a Hurricane and then went back the next night for Latitude. A party of 12 seated in 20 min and there was a crowd both nights. Everyone intends to go back next year. We did miss our fried Gary Brown. We always go on Sunday evening when we're in Paradise. We were really excited about eating at Creek Ratz because it just appeared to be one of those neat places that only locals know about. I was a little disappointed. First of all, they do not offer any beers on draft at all...only bottles. When I found this out I ordered a margarita instead. It was served in a styrofoam cup, which I thought was unusual. I'm not a restaurant snob or anything, and the place definitely has character, but I did not enjoy having a margarita out of a styrofoam cup.
They had live music and it was good. The kids enjoyed the kids menu and we all enjoyed the marsh walk at Murrells Inlet. I had the ribs and they were good - not great, just good. My wife had the fried shrimp and it was good as well.
Overall, on a trip to Myrtle Beach when we only had 5 dinners to eat out, this was our least best experience. The atmosphere and entertainment were great, but the food and the service was just okay. If I had another trip to plan to Myrtle Beach with only 5 dinners, I would not choose Creek Ratz for one of them. ref: 7431

Waitresses were standing around talking paying no attention to customers. We finally got up, an no one asked us why. When we got there it was slow and they were getting ready for an outdoor concert. The price for food was to high for what you got. The worst thing that happened was we bought our daughter the fried flounder from the kid's menu. She was only 18 mths. at the time and luckily I took a look at her fish because it was chocked full of bones!!! You could see them all sticking out, there was no way to take them out, that is how many there were. A bad choking hazard for a child and even for an adult. I told the waitress about it and that it needed to come off the menu. We did get a credit for this entree, but we will not go back. Was not worth the price for this untasty food. This is not what I would consider a family restaurant. My husband adds, "the food was no good". ref: 4454

Creek Ratz offers something for everyone, pizzas, burgers, salads and the grouper bites are awesome. Our server was very friendly and was there for all of our needs. Great location along Murrells Inlet Creek. You can watch boats go by and then take a walk on the docks after eating.
