It was some of the best fried seafood I've had in this area (way overpriced) because it wasn't greasy like most other places. I did bite into a large piece of oyster shell and some of the fried shrimp still had shell pieces on them. My big gripe is the staff. OK, the place is crowded but the staff gave us and especially my kids a hard time for being in the way while we were waiting for our table, which was a good 45 minutes. After we were seated, it was another 45 min before our food came. Overall, decent food but have a thick skin dealing with the stressed out staff.

The last of its kind! Don't miss it. I'm here 40 yrs and I've seen so many of the truly 'local' places vanish to "progress" that it sickens me. This is real, true-blue southern seafood eating with the old-timey trimmings. Yeah,it's run by a damn Yankee but he didn't change any of the old ways. No Chinese farm raised, genetically altered shrimp,no Chilean sea bass that Chileans toss away as junk fish. This is REAL seafood. The drinks are fabulous, prepared by my doll Justine the bartender who should be paid twice what she is. You may have to wait....but what the hell...you're on vacation, righht? Why are you wearing a watch? What are you doing with a cell phone? Are you nuts? Watch the boats, gaze at the stars, listen to the music, close your eyes, this is paradise! It don't get no better than this...try it..you'll like it.

After four months of living in Little River, the locals we have met, all have mentioned Crab Catchers. As my wife and I are Catastrophic Insurance Adjusters, we have had the pleasure of dining in restaurants all over the great USA. Our March 23rd trip to Crab Catchers at 7:00pm was well worth our time. We met wonderful locals inside that recommended a few dishes. Seating was average, though quicker than expected. My wife had the grilled shrimp, stuffed devil crab, baked potato, hush puppies and cole slaw. I had the trigger fish, stuffed devil crab, deep fried corn on the cob, french fries and cole slaw, and nice locals next to us gave us a wonderful piece of Birthday cake. Compliments you could hear from us throughout the meal. She stated it was the best grilled shrimp she has ever had. For me, EVERYTHING was excellent. Quality was Excellent.Servers were Excellent. I advised them they needed to be making a million dollars a year! They were hard working and pleasant, smiling throughout the pace they carried. A American salute to the owners Son, who when seeing my Army shirt, asked if I had served, and when I responded with a Yes, he thanked me for my service. That is respect you rarely find anymore. Hats off to this entire establishment. If your looking for Good Food, Friendly Service and a good time, look no further than Crab Catchers!

My wife and I are from Myrtle Beach and friends of ours took us here one night. We both ordered the oyster sandwitch and I have to say it was so full of oysters I had a hard time fiting it in my mouth and finishing it all. I have to say it was one of the best if not the best oyster sandwitch I have had,and the price was reasonable also.We will be going back soon.

Being from Maryland my husband and I like to have blue crabs when we are on vacation. What we found at Crab Catchers was much more than just crabs. The autmosphere was outstanding. Much better than the inside of alot of resturants noted for crabs at Ocean City. This being our first trip to Myrtle Beach we feel so lucky to have come upon this spot. We had an average wait with someone letting us know our table would be ready soon. The outdoor dining is right on a river. The crabs were very fresh and a good size. The service was outstanding. We will be going back to Myrtle beach this year and the Crab Catchers will be one of the highlights of our trip.

My boss recommended Crab Catchers when he heard we were vacationing in Myrtle Beach. We are so glad that he did! The waitress (Teresa) was so sweet, friendly and on the ball! My husband had the grouper sandwich with a special cheesy sauce. I had the fish of the day sandwich. We had to try the fried corn, coleslaw and hushpuppies. We each sampled everything and liked it all!! Everything was fresh, delicious and served hot. It's not a place you would find by just driving by, but is just off the main streets so it is well worth searching out. This will definately be a regular dining stop every time we are in Myrtle Beach!!

We are so disappointed with this place. Either they have a new owner or management or cook because the difference in the food and service since we ate there 3 months ago is unbelievable: One hour before the food came; the place was nasty; both of our orders were wrong; the food was terrible; and the waitress must be a flim-flam artist. We will NEVER go there again!!

Very disappointed. Wait staff had a snobby attitude toward our party, possibly because we were all young and not White. We booked tables a week and half in advance for a group 15 for a going away dinner for a friend. Upon arrival waiter pulled our host aside and asked us how we expected to pay for dinner, despite that we were all impeccably dressed, as most of us are young professionals. Our tables were also not ready as were going to split apart the group despite our previous reservation and ended up being seated in a backroom of sorts. Upon arrival no one came to help or direct me to my party and I was forced to wonder around the restaurant despite literally bumping into several wait staff who paid me no attention. Food quality was below average and expected much more for an upscale restaurant. Furniture, dishes, and glasses were not of the quality I would expect from this sort of restaurant. Expected much more and just throughly disappointed and wished we went to George's instead for friend's going away party.

We bought a lot at Brunswick Plantation 3 years ago and our selling agent recommended Crab Catchers - we went - we go back every time we're there. We have a home at Brunswick now although we still commute. We love the atmosphere at Crab Catchers - particulary on the deck - it's such a delightful change from Northern Virginia\DC atmosphere. We can take our yuppie friends and/or red-neck friends to Crab Catchers and everyone will be happy. We recently took our 4 kids there (30 yr olds) and they loved it too. If you are expecting a fine-dining experience - go somewhere else, If you want fun, relaxation, good food and meeting wonderful people - go to Crab Catchers. (and girls - they have expanded the ladies" room to a 2-seater!!)

Have been there a few times, eaten there once. Food was average. When visit the waterfront at Little River we drop by to see if things are different or have improved. Have never been able to get a table on the deck where there is a nice view...while all tables inside are empty...every time. Have waited for a deck table for over an hour, more than once. I think that was probably a good thing. While the cook's show is entertaining, it's also very revealing. If you're watching your cholesterol...this is not the place for you. Lots of grease!

July, 2007 Returned to Crab Catcher and we were greeted by the owner Tim, great guy. He remembered us from the year before and was really happy to have us back. Our friend at the bar, Justine is a great person and always makes our visit very enjoyable. Met really nice locals and felt almost like we became locals after a couple of visits. Wahoo is the best fish I have had in Myrtle. Can't wait to return and be greeted like we never left. Will be one of my favorites when we retire there. Carol and Marty of Cincy.

Crab Catchers has become a tradition for our family. We ate there on Wednesday, July 11 and it was delicious as always. Portions are huge and even our picky eaters were pleased. We always throw caution to the winds and order our choices fried (and why not? the scallops taste all the sweeter when encased in breading). The wahu is excellent, crab cakes awesome, grouper sandwich fabulous. The fried corn is one of our favorites! It is true that you should arrive early if you want to be seated promptly, and that while the service is very good, it takes a long time for your food to arrive. We always felt that this was due to the large size of our party (usually 15-20 people) and figured it was a good opportunity to relax, enjoy the view and sip on a drink! The noise level has never been a problem for us since we always sit outdoors. Crab Catchers is proof that if you want to find a good place to eat, ask someone local. Nothing fancy, just honestly good food.

After reading other reviews, my family decided to try Crab Catchers. We were highly disappointed. The atmosphere was excellent, however the food was not worth the money that we spend. All the food was fried. The serving portions were small. We ordered crab cake sandwiches. The crab cake was so small that most of the sandwich was bread. There were four of us and the bill came to $70.00. We can go to an all you can eat place for that price.

Dropped in after reading reviews and looking for good seafood in the Little River area. Sorry we did. Took too long to get seated. Very loud from all the children. Appears to be a locals and family hangout (extremely casual). The restaurant wasn't very clean. Waitress had too many tables to wait. The food was really ok but way overpriced. The fried shrimp was fine but didn't taste fresh. The grouper special was drowning/overwhelmed by the cheese sauce and the actual grouper was tough. We definitely won't be back.

We just returned from vacationing in Myrtle Beach and had dinner at Crab Catchers. We were seated almost immediately and had a very friendly, attentive waitress. We enjoyed a variety of food since we all like different things. Everything we had was all very good; grilled shrimp, breaded/fried shrimp, wahu fish, which I never heard of but was delicious, steak and cheeseburgers. It's an out of the way restaurant, over by the casinos, but well worth the drive to find the place. We'll go back next summer, for sure!

I almost want to rate Crab Catchers really bad so it won't become one of those really crowded places at which everyone wants to eat. My first time there was at the beginning of January '07. When my wife asked me what I wanted to do on a recent visit to MB (June '07), the only thing I could come up with was to go back to Crab Catchers. Its a GREAT restaurant off the beaten path, TERRIFIC atmosphere, TOP DRAWER entertainment, WONDERFUL people working there, and GOOD food to boot. What more could you want?

I was turned on to this place via my brother, it was far better than he described it. The black sea bass is the ultimate in seafood and here it is prepared perfectly. I fell in love with the fried corn and the scallops are huge. I have been back several times for lunch just as well as dinner. The music is live and very laid back. The people are fantastic and they make sure you are taken care of. I buy a T-shirt every visit. A must for all to dine here at least once. Thank You Tim for this seafood experience.

I was in Myrtle Beach on Saturday (8/5) and the desk person at the Sleep Inn recommended we try Crab Catchers for dinner. I've been to Myrtle Beach many times, but this was the first I heard of it. We walked back to the bar to ask about a seat on the deck. Our name was put on a list with 4 ahead of us, but 2 seats immediately opened at the bar, so we sat down to a couple of G&T's and decided to eat right there. The people were very friendly. We placed our order and got our food within minutes! I had the grilled shrimp (best I've had - EVER) with the fried corn (delicious!), hush puppies (fresh) and a crab cake (awesome) on the side. My friend ordered the fried grouper. He is a BIG eater and couldn't finish it all -- said it was the best he ever had. Pure white and cooked perfectly. The singer was doing Buffett and the Eagles. The cruise ship took off while we were there. Out of all the times I've eaten in the area, this was the best. We can't wait to go back next summer! Another patron suggested we come back in the winter, if for no other reason that to have the Crab Catcher's Sea Bass. We just might have to do that! (I've forgotten the bartenders name, but he was GREAT - was extremely busy but still managed to stay on top of everything AND run out front to get people on the wait list to their tables!)

Tip him well -- he deserves it !

FANTASTIC!! This place was the best. The food takes a while to come out of the kitchen but the server explained; everything is made fresh when ordered except for the coleslaw. Had fried scallops that were wonderful. The fried corn as well as the hush-puppies were very fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is really laid back and the people very friendly. When one travels... always ask the locals where they like to go for a good meal . Thanks to the bartender at The Pearl golf club for directing us here . The sea bass was great and the relaxed atmosphere is what we enjoy. Hope that bartender appreciated the round of beers we sent her because true to her word she was there for dinner. We will return for another great meal and hopefully sit out on the dock with the pelicans.

Been there on busy nights and slow nights. Love it always. So what if 400 people coming to dine slows them up a little.

I've had the grouper sandwich, the oyster sandwich, the soft shell crab and many others. My girlfriend always loves the deck and the food. Always tasty, hot and fresh.

AND it's the only place I've been in years that always has REGULAR Michelob (ICE COLD) not just LIGHT or ULTRA....Yay for regular Michelob.

We go there every time we are in town (6-8 times a year).

Locals here who love Crab Catchers!

With all the area growth, there are only a few really unique, original, and enjoyable places where we run into other locals, while having good food.

Crab Catchers is one of those places.

Local here!!!! This place is not a local's place for eating. Drinking, maybe!!! Food is average, but so many better places and prices are high.Food is greasy. Nice people run it but wait and limited menu is too much. View is awesome but other views exist. Tourists have at it. It keeps our local places secret.

This was our 2nd year of vacationing in Myrtle Beach and this is our favorite restaurant. The fresh seafood can't be beat and the fried corn is great. The owner, Tim, puts on quite a show while preparing the various food items. The entire cooking area is only 6' wide and he and his staff really work hard. They served 400 the one night that we were there so you will have to wait awhile ...no big deal, just belly up to the bar and have a cold one...the wait is worth it !!!!

The deck provides a fantastic view! Food quality and prices are not very good. Fried corn is very greasy, as are other foods, at times. Have had numerous visits to determine this evaluation.

Worth the wait....relax and enjoy the view of the intracoastal and traditional fishing village atmosphere. Food is all prepared behind the bar and is outstanding, although sometimes taking a while to be served. Don't fret the time....enjoy the atmosphere with your favorite beverage.

Crab Catchers is outstanding for food and atmosphere. If you are in a hurry, the time taken for service will not be to your liking. However, if you want to take a step back in time and enjoy an atmosphere along an intracoastal fishing village then this is the place. Sunsets across the salt marsh and returning boats make for a relaxing time spent during the early evening.

After reading the reviews of Crab Catchers, I thought it would be nice to try something different on this trip to Myrtle Beach. I'm sorry I did. I must say we were disappointed. Fried Corn? It's more like they grilled a frozen 1/2 ear of corn from Krogers. The serving sizes were very small. The service was OK but they messed up our order and did not bring out my son's crab legs until the rest of us were finished eating. As for value, I must say the serving sizes were very small for the prices we paid. Our server was nice, the funny thing was every dish we asked her about was "OH Excellent". Certainly a good sales person. We'll be spending our dining dollars elsewhere.

Crab Catcher's is noisy and the service can be slow, but it's well worth the wait! Locals love it and visitors learn to love it! They have the BEST french fries in the entire WORLD. Everything on the menu is excellent and you haven't lived until you've sunk your teeth in the fried corn. If they only offered fried dill pickle chips, it would be the finest restaurant on the planet.

You will not be dissapointed when you take the time to enjoy the food at Crab Catchers! The staff and food are great and the view and atmosphere are not lacking. If you're out on the deck or inside the crew at Crab Catchers knows how to take care of you. True the wait sometimes is long, but it is worth the time for fresh seafood and the deep fried corn on the cob! I would tell anyone that asked me where to go for sea food, to hit up the Waterfront in Little River and go to Crab Catchers and have a great time.!

It's warmer weather and the deck is open again! What a great meal and time we had there again tonight! The shrimp was excellent and the fried corn on the cobb was finger-licking good again too! We absolutely love this place. It's worth whatever time you have to wait! If you want to go where the locals go, do NOT miss going to Crab Catchers on the waterfront!

Great local place that's ALWAYS packed because of the friendly staff, great food, and decent prices. Although not considered "fine dining" or even "classy", Crab Catchers serves the best food, puts on no pretense at being anything but what they are: a great local place with the best seafood.

Food is excellent here. the atmosphere is wonderful in the summer time. You can sit outside on the deck and enjoy a cool drink and eat your wonderful seafood prepared just for you. You have to eat here to know how good it is. The management are friendly and great. You will love it. Just don't go when they are crowded and expect the food really fast. Each order is prepared separately. Go there try it and you will like it.
