$71 and left hungry. I hope Hurricane's in Little River, SC stretches their $ well bc this couple won't be back. Great food. Average staff. Pathetic quantity. Hell, I am embarrassed and ashamed FOR them. Visit Pinehurst, NC if you want quality and to leave full. Hurricane in Little River=feel scammed.

We have enjoyed Capt Juels for many years. The fried flounder is excellent.Best Hush Puppies in the south. Our grand children are always well treated. They have a small play area. The view of the waterway ,with fishing boats coming in unloading and cleaning the catch of the day is fun to watch and enjoy.. The cakes for dessert are exceptional , especially the Pina- Colada and coconut .They are made in house by the family.

40 years ago this was THE restuarant to enjoy a wonderful dinner by the waterway. The Menu items are overpriced...and full of grease. If you want true seafood at a fair price, try Ella's in Calabash. Their Lunch prices can't be beat.

If you go on the Sea Thunder or Screamer, don't get hooked by the sales pitch to go to Juels...I had the $25 "special" a crabcake on top of blackened mahi. The fish was overdone and the "crabcake" was a crab-flavored stuffing ball...Not ONE LUMP of crabmeat in the whole thing. My daughter had mac and cheese...it was kraft and it was so congealed and greasy, she wouldn't eat it. When they asked if I wanted to wrap it up, I told her to look at it...my kid couldn't even eat it. She said it was cuz they melted cheese over the top....ummm no. The atmosphere is cool, the drinks were good but I wouldn't cross the street to go back, much less make a special trip.

Would never waste my money again. Four of us went there last week, we ordered the She Crab soup to begin with...the absolute worst I have ever had...so sweet we could hardly eat it, and believe me we have had She Crab soup at many, many restaurants. Only 2 people ordered a drink, my husband and I split a meal..and the other couple split a meal and our bill was still $90.00 plus. I have had seafood platters at many other restaurants that was running over at a much less price. I actually thought our waitress had already split the plates for us until she handed each of us a second plate....shock at the amout of seafood that was on our plate...at the cost of $23.00. Please keep in mind the plate only consisted of shrimp, oysters and scallops...and not many of each. Do yourself a favor...check out some of the other restaurants in the area before you waste your money here.

I went there on a Wednesday night with a group of 11 of us. We were able to make a reservation and get seated promptly. The atmosphere is great, right along the water and big open windows to see all the design and nature. Our waiter was busy but did stop by quickly to apologize and say he would be right back to get our drink order. The only negative was that it seemed to take a while for our food to arrive, BUT they did a great job of keeping our drinks filled and checking on us to see if we needed anything. Most of us were happy with our food, although the two that got steaks and the cheeseburger weren't too thrilled. We weren't sure we were going to go here based on the variety of the reviews, but so far it has been our favorite meal of the vacation. If you're looking for the 'along the water' atmosphere and good seafood, give this place a try!

We can there for lunch today and it wasn't that busy but they only had 2 servers who I though seemed busy but never gave our table the right amount of service, our drinks were always empty and everything we asked for never got taken to us. The food was greasy, and burnt! I wanted a grouper sandwich that wasn't all BREAD! We will never go back, but will tend to visit the neighbors of this restaurant

I have been there three times. The first time was pretty good. The second time was not good because the food was gritty and like it had been under a heat lamp for a good while. The service was slow which made me wonder why it took so long to come out only to be old and cold. I chocked it up to a bad day out of season. The third was the charmer. It felt like deja vu. We ordered and it seemed like a long time getting there. When they food came it looked old and cold so I felt the fries. They were tepid. The plate was cold which was sucking up any bit of heat the food had. The fried fish was mushy. The fried oysters were hard as in old and cold. Bad meal all the way around. The best was yet to come. They stuck a 20 % tip on the bill. Captain Jules doesn't have to worry a getting anymore of my business because I won't set foot in there nor will i recommend it.

My husband and I have eaten there several times and just can't wait to get back there. The shrimp, grouper, mahi mahi and crab cakes were outstanding. Now pair that with Deana's very fresh, homemade cole slaw and hushpuppies and you have a feast like no other.

But WAIT! now the home made desserts will blow your mind. I love the coconut cake and my husband's favorite is the red velevet cake. If you have no room for them after your wonderful meal, take some home with you. You won't regret it.

My Fiancee and I ate here last week, we were promptly seated. Our waiter was very nice and provided us with good service (especially since my fiancee drinks diet coke like its going out of style) and was quick to refill our glasses, etc. My fiancee loved the hushpuppies and fried calamari appetizer he ordered. As an entree my fiancee got the crab cakes which he loved (especially with their pesto sauce). I ordered a salad with blackened mahi. I have to say though I would have expected my salad to be the size of a dinner salad, instead it looked like an appetizer salad with a piece of fish thrown on top so I really was not satisfied but it tasted good. I would go back but I would order something else next time

This is the place to go to catch up on all the local news and watch the river roll by. Although noted for its' seafood, Deana the co-owner/bartender makes the best drinks on the waterway. If not in the mood for a full meal the bar service is tremendous if you can find a seat between the "locals". If you are in the mood to socialize come to the lounge area of the Hurricane and join in the conversation.

My husband and I being 2nd time visitors to the Myrtle Beach area, the first being about this time last year, were driving around looking for a place to have lunch. We ended up at Captain Juel's. My husband had the fried grouper, (he said it was lightly breaded and perfectly cooked) and I had the shrimp and grits, (which I loved). Very creamy grits and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The food was awesome. The atmosphere was rustic with a definite marina-fishing style. We enjoyed looking out over the water! The server was great also. We loved it!!!!!!!!!!We can't wait to go back next year!!!!!!

This was one of the worst food experience we have ever had. We had a party of 5, only a few other guests in the restaurant, we were seated immediately. The sever was average, we order flounder and it was awful, so bad we could eat very little of it. One of our party told the server that his flounder was bad, so she brought him a serving of fried shrimp that was like a box of frozen shrimp from the grocery. I also, told her that I could not eat mine either. The baked potatoes, evidently, had been warmed over from earlier. We should have ask for management, but didn't. We were also, charged 18% gratuity for a party of five. Will never go back, and advise others to stay away. Oh, by the way the tea was good, so we ended up paying $135.99 for tea. By the way we had eaten here several times in the past (50's thru 80's) and it was always good, this was the reason we went back 10/01/2007. But no more.

At here at the end of June. The wait was about 20 minutes which I didn't think was bad, given the wait at many other restaurants. The service while at first was slow, was then very attentive and very good. Food was average, but they had terrific hush puppies at least by this Northerner's standards. Nice view and given that there were several groups with kids, it was very calm and quiet. Next time, I'll go for drinks and a few appetizers and just relax on the deck and this will be a terrific evening.

This was our first visit as we wanted to try new things on our trip. We were seated immediately at a nice table with a view of the water. They have a honey poppyseed salad dressing that is so yummy; I chose to eat my hushpuppies with that instead of the honeybutter. The hushpuppies were very good as well.

I ordered the filet and it was good, but a little too done (more medium well as opposed to medium). Everyone else had seafood and seemed to like it. Nice, quiet change to standing in lines at other restaurants in Myrtle Beach and the drive was not bad at all.

We ate at Captain Juel's last summer after a a dolphin watch ride on the Sea Screamer. It was a quaint local restaurant with a piano player and they kept the temperature just right for those of us who were just coming in from the wet ride. I had Mahi topped with a crab cake in a delicious sauce. We were skeptical at first but were very impressed with the food and the service.

We had coupons and thought this would be a good choice since it sits by the ICW. . . wow what a mistake. Service was average at best - place was quite empty and the food was horrible. This place could not even make good french fries. Prices in SC's restaurants is so MUCH higher than in NJ and in NJ we can BYOB. . . here we are where most folks have much less and yet the restaurants overcharge for less than average food. . .I do not get it!!!

Before we (3 couples) visited North Myrtle Beach I printed up the reviews of the many of the restaurants in the area. Captain Juel's Hurricane Restaurant was the one we picked to have dinner the first night and we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We sat outside and it was great. Watch all the boats including the casino boats go by. I am sure we will go back to Captain Juel's Hurricane Restaurant.

This has got to be the best restaurant in the Grand Strand. I have been coming to this restaurant for the past 29 years. It is a tradition my father started. The food is consistently wonderful. The servers are super friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. The food is a little bit pricey, but well worth it. My kids were thrilled to see the boats so close. All of the shrimp dishes are awesome--particularly the shrimp and grits and the coconut shrimp!!

Service and food are the best on the beach. I ate there twice on a weekend golf outing. The shrimp and grits are to die for.... trust me.The friendliness of the staff and the local patron known as "Big Al" will keep me coming back for years to come!!!!!

The food was great. I especially liked the fried dill chips and sauce. The seafood was also excellent. I would love to go back there.

This was our first visit to Captain Juel's. We were seated right away. Our server was very attentive and helpful, and we never had to ask for drink refills. Though some of the seafood entrees were a little pricy, the Mahi Rockefeller was excellent and you have to try the hot spinach-crab dip and fried green tomatoes. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. It was dark and raining the night we went, so we didn't get to enjoy the deck, but the lights over the water were pretty, and we would eat here again.

We used to go there when they had the parasailing off the pier. Also love the local atmosphere. I like to go where locals go sometimes.

We went for the View as seen on the ad picture. There is now a large deck that blocks the view. You can only see the sides. Food was average at best. I could taste the freezer bun in my crab cakes. Salad was no more than lettice and the baked potato was tiny. If you want value go somewhere else. If you want to look at the boats plan on a drink on the deck.

We love eating here because we run into other locals, the food and service are good, and the view is exceptional. Although not the most comfortable seats in the world, the outdoor deck is a fantastic place to eat and watch the activity at the Little River waterfront in the warm months.

Best view of the intracoastal waterway on the strand! Great selection of food from hamburgers to one of a kind seafood dishes. Watch all the boats including the casino boats go by or come in and get a drink before going out on a boat. Dinner specials every night and also has bar area with entertainment.
