I was shocked at the prices and food....I would have rather eaten seafood at a fast food restaurant!!!! I will tell everyone I know not to spend the ridiculous $25.00 per person (not including a beverage) and not to consider eating at Bennett's Calabash Seafood Restaurant, ever! Extremely disappointed!

This resteraunt needs to get it together, maybe fire the manager, and change managing attitudes. They have an obvious choice of either improving the food, and attitudes, or they can lower the price to be just another Buffet style resteraunt that serves uneatable crap and knows it. Based on all the poor reviews I've read, I wish I would have read them before I ate there. Maybe it's the owners fault, or the managers, I don't care, I will never eat there again.

I felt that $26.99 fwas an unfair price for stuffed flounder that had been baked until it was as dry and tough as leather, crab cakes that can better be described as "tasteless paste cakes", bland cold shrimp that only has flavor if you put cocktal sauce on them, bla bla bla...you get the idea. The overall buffett selection and quality was good but I think Benjamins has to either learn how to prepare seafood so that it tastes somewhat like seafood or get out of the seafood business. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere second to none.

Please, do yourself a favor and stay away from this ripoff establishment. Total bill for 2 adults and 1 child came out to 85 bucks. The waitress quickly took our menus before we knew what the fare was, and then stuck me with the astronomical bill, even though the kid only had chicken fingers and fries. For 28 bucks a piece, you can find a lot better places than this.

We always eat at Bennett's when we come to N. Myrtle Beach. Without a doubt the BEST crab legs you will find anywhere. They always have an ample supply and never seem to run out. You never stand in line waiting for them to refill items. The price's are great especially for all-you-can-eat crab legs. Anywhere else you would pay that price alone for the crab legs without all the other choices you have. We love it here...it is a 'family tradition' to go to Bennett's.

Tried this place next to last night of our vacation.Wish we hadn't.Crab legs were good but the rest of the buffet was lousy.rubbery fried ,bad flavor. My 11 year old daughter doesn't get to see her college aged brother very often so she wanted to crack his crab legs for him. When she was doing this the waitress approached me and said that she was going to have to charge me for a full price bar for her because the manager saw her doing this and thought she was eating the crab legs.I told her to get the manager for me if he has a problem with my girl cracking his crab legs for him.I never saw the manager and I didn't get billed a extra buffet price..Hey Bennetts not everyone is a crook and just maybe you might offend someone trying to enjoy they're hard worked for vacation .Get a grip, will never return to Bennetts Calabash.

We have been to Bennett's many times in the past 5 years, and have usually been very happy with the food and service. This last trip, we went twice, and once the food was excellent, but 3 days later the food was below average. Go figure? I think it has to do with how busy they are. If they are half full, the kitchen keeps the food fresh and hot. If they are too crowded, they run out of everything, and if they are almost empty, the food gets old on the bar. We usually go for lunch or an early supper (5:30 or so) and have been pleased most times. The calabash shrimp, fried oysters, and fried scallops are my favorites. If you get fresh, hot ones at this place, they are GREAT.

Our waitress was wonderfully attentive and helpful with our young daughter who fell asleep during the meal. The buffet ordered lots of variety, for instance four different preparation of shrimp. Some were great and some were good. The prime rib was overcooked. Excellent variety with varying quality. Would go back for early bird specials.

This place is a joke. I read all of the reviews and just couldn't believe it was this bad. Well after a 120 dollar bill for four people for lousy snow crabs and end of the nite fried leftovers I guess I got my answer. Go buy your own fresh seafood and pay someone to cook it. It still has to be cheaper..

I live in Myrtle Beach and have tried all the buffets around in the area, and I give Bennetts the best rating. It is a bit costly but worth the price when it comes to the crab legs. The crab legs are fresh and have a sweet( light sugar taste) taste with a hint of salt. Like I said. You will shell out some money but at cheaper restuants the crab legs are dry and bland. Craby Mikes is my #2 spot for crab legs.

We tried Bennett's because our favorite buffet was closed. BIG (and expensive) MISTAKE! Even though there was no crowd, the crab legs continuously looked like picked-over leftovers. I've owned shoes more tender than the prime rib. Three of us, buffet each, water each, before 4pm, minus $4 each (coupon), still charged $60.12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I realize this was an "off-season" visit but we sure paid for first class!

It was horrible. I was embarrassed to take my new wife and our friends to this place. The food, if you dare call it that, was all deep fried and cold or was a sign with an empty container. This was a great learning experience for me though. I learned to stay clear of any place that says all you can eat... It's like Vegas the house always wins! Andrew C. Bennett Sr.

We have frequented this Bennett's since 1999 and about once per month for 2007. The food at Bennett's has been consistently good over that time. Not excellent but above average. Bennett's fried and broiled dishes on the buffet are better than what I experienced at non-buffet seafood restaurants in the area. The price is high due to the all you can eat crab-legs, which I don't eat. If you don't eat crab-legs this won't rate well on the value for the money. During the off season (Jan-Feb), Bennett's will alternatively close the restaurant row or this location. The food at the other location is consistent with this location.

Having lived in Baltimore, MD for most of our lives, my boyfriend and I were horrified by the food on the buffet and then when we received the bill at 2 p.m. lunchtime for over $50....well let's just say we will never go back to Bennett's Calabash. Always make sure you ask the price and then look at the buffet before you commit. I was disgusted by the quality of food and the selection of food. I don't know who these people think they are charging $25 a person but they need a reality check....I would have preferred Wendy's to Bennetts. I hope you read this manager or owner of the worst calabash seafood restaurant....I wouldn't eat here if it were free.

Very nice seafood & crab legs buffet which offers more than seafod for the more finicky in your party. The crab legs are very, very good - much better than most. Not any kind of wait when we were there - a little early at 4:30. Anyway, the service was spectacular. Our best eating experience thus far.

Most of the food was cold, the crabcakes and crab imperial were nothing but breading, the soft ice cream machine was out of order, most of the rest of the desert was inedible. except for the lemon meringue pie. The King crab legs were very good but if i had to do it again I would try another place or just stick with one of the major chains. Would not have been as bad if it was only around $14.99, but at $21.99 it was highway 17 robbery.

I don't know if they have changed chefs / cooks or what the problem was. It was below the average of my past visits there. I used to look forward to going every summer but will think twice about it next vacation. (The crab legs are the best thing on the buffet).

I have not been to Bennett's since October, 2001, and I still talk about it constantly, and if and when I get another chance to visit Myrtle Beach, it will be the first dinner I have. The folks who have written bad reviews intrigue me, because I have never heard these detrimental comments about Bennett's, and I have been to Myrtle Beach close to 20 times! I think that some of these folks are never satisfied, so they would rate any restaurant badly.

By far one of the worst meals I've ever had, and definitely the worst seafood. We went on a Friday evening--everything looked and tasted as if it had been prepared the day before. The tuna was very over done, and like the "prime rib," steak, and other fish, it was floating in a pool of brown liquid. The salad dressings were watered down, the boiled shrimp had an unidentifiable flavoring, and the pulled pork barbeque had been doused with "liquid smoke" from a bottle. Neither of us finished our first plate of food before leaving. I grew up going to Calabash for seafood--this place had little in common with Calabash fare. Folks not from eastern Carolina may think Bennett's is good, but if you go, please don't assume this place is typical of good Carolina seafood!

We love to go to Myrtle Beach and eat a Bennett's they have been in the seafood business a looooog time. It's a fact that serving food on a buffet is a hard way to insure quality food. Totally different than serving on platters from the kitchen where most meals are made as you order..However we have found the best time to eat at a buffet is about 30 minutes after the buffet is set up. we never go to a buffet after the rush hour..so there are some tips to eating buffet style and insuring yourself a good meal. I would definitely reccommend Bennetts. North Carolina

My wife and I have been coming to Myrtle Beach for over 50 years and have been a patron of Bennett's every chance we had. The first week in January 2007, we visited again and were very disapointed.

We both ordered the buffet. The fried oysters were very small and over cooked, the fried shrimp had been rinsed in iodine and still had the iodine taste, bourbon salmon was overcooked and the bourbon taste was too strong, the keylime pie was not fresh and was too limey.

Sorry for the bad review, but there are too many other good restaurants for me to waste money for sub-standard food

We enjoyed our Bennett's experience; after reading reviews of several restaurants through this website, we chose this from all the others. Mid-October, 3PM, Friday afternoon, w/ $4 coupon, 4 adults, one toddler. It was not crowded. Seated and served fine. Food was good - crab legs, prime rib, and few other selections were very good. Some pieces from salad bar not so great, but you get those in each bushel once-in-a-while. The price is fine for what you're getting; it's not Golden Corral so expect to pay more. We'd go back there.

Consider it is a buffet place in a tourist trap, it is consider as good. Make sure someone in your party enjoys crab legs and Steamed Oysters in shells (hard to open but fun).

Price is decent. Make sure you clip one of those coupons that will save you 10% or more (depends on what time you dinn in).

The only draw back is the long wait for the crab legs. Once they are out of the kitchen, they are gone in 1 minute.

The rest of the food is OK. If you stuff yourself with fried food, then it is not worth the $22. My husband ate like 4 dozens of steam oysters and may be 5 pound of crab legs (you only eat the legs, so it is like less than 1 pound of crab meat). You do the math if he ate his money worth.

The crab legs are much better than other buffet place around the area. Definitely an ideal place to go for seafood.

We are very picky about our seafood and consider it is only $22 a person, this place is a steal.

We visit this restaurant every year when we go on vacation. We love it. We will be returning in August this year and it will be one of our first stops. It may be our last stop too! Twice in a week would be great. I know that my husband and I eat $40 in crab legs alone. Our children have so many items to choose from at the bar too! They are just happy its not another chicken nugget type dinner. Adding the tip in does not bother us. They deserve every cent! Only two more weeks until our vacation.CANT WAIT!!!

We ate there this past week 7-13-06. The only thing that was enjoyed by our party of 9 was the crab legs. The ones of us that didnt eat them were just out of luck. The salad bar was horrible !!! Rotten tomatoes were sliced and put on the bar now come on anyone can do better than this, and for that kind of price. And also the rest room was so bad I couldnt even let my 3 year old grandson use the potty. Water all over the place. And to beat it all one of the girls working there came out looked at the mess and walked out.

Great Food and Great Service. We eat here a couple of times each year on family vacation. It's a shame that people complain about the tip added to the bill. I was a waitress many years ago and I would have appreciated my employeer adding my tip to the bill to make sure that I would get paid. There are many people out there that would not pay much of a tip or none at all even though they got good service because they are cheap. I don't mind paying them the 15% tip. I would pay it even if it wasn't added to my bill. This is a Great Restaurant and it's nice to know that they take care of their employees and make sure that they get the tip that they work for.

My family had the buffet on our first trip to Myrtle Beach last year. It was wonderful. My children loved the pirate. The food here was great. In the previous reviews some people complained about the price of 20.95 per person. I know myself (I am a small person) that I will definitely eat more than that in crab legs alone. The atmosphere was great and we have pictures to prove it!!

Bennett's is horrible and over priced even for a buffet and the coupon for $5 off isn't enough to compel you to try it. You get charged for crab legs even if you don't want them. The only good news at Bennett's is there is plenty of selection and the wait staff is friendly. This is the worst seafood buffet we've ever tried. We agree with the other reviewer that everything was overcooked, dried out, mushy, bland, no flavor. We also live near the Chesapeake Bay and looked forward to trying Calabash seafood. If you want Calabash seafood, drive up US 17 a little way into Calabash, NC and try one of the restaurants on River Rd off Rt 179.

Bennett's is ok if you don't mind spending too much money. The food is like any other buffet restaurant on the beach. Plenty of selection to choose from just over priced.

Enjoyed eating there very much. The food was great, place was clean and was a great value for seafood. We ate before 4 p.m. to save $4 a person.

Bennett's was very good. I thought the price was very reasonable and the service above average. The crab legs were yummy and the price was below average especially with a coupon. The tips are part of the program and I was on vacation so spending was what I came down here for. I'm coming back in August for more. Advice to all who go to buffet. Go early and you will have no waiting problems. C. East Hartford, CT

Without a doubt, this is the greatest seafood restaurant of all-time. What a super set-up with SO much selection. The fried shrimp is the best on the beach, edging out Dockside's in Calabash, NC. The crab legs are great, and the roast beef on the buffet is also excellent. If you are a hardcore seafood fan, this is it. You will not leave out of here without finding something. It is truly one of the highlights of my visit to Myrtle Beach every year. I can't think about our vacation to Myrtle Beach without thinking of Bennett's.

The food at Bennett's was okay, but even with coupons the meal is way more expensive than it is worth. A 15% tip is added to your bill before it is given to you, and if you have a coupon, they add the tip in before the coupon is figured in so they pinch as much money out of you as they can.

There were four in our party, and our waiter received a $16 tip. It was about $30 for each couple to eat. All we ordered were regular drinks and the buffet. Our coupons were buy one meal get one free. Needless to say we were very disapointed to find out after the fact about the tip.

This place must make thousands of dollars in tips alone...You do the math...Is it really worth it? I guess they have to find someway to pay the pirate. lol Oh, and they tried to hit us up for pictures and some type of drawing as we were leaving saying how we could win $100. Go figure.

Absolutely the worst "seafood" we have ever eaten. Everything we tried from the buffet was overcooked, dried out, or mushy. After living on the Chesapeake Bay for years and eating fresh seafood at almost any restaurant, we know what well cooked seafood is. I would not recommend this place to a dog. Our bill was 53.00 for two people and we left very dissatisfied.

We ate here on 6/17 and the food was great! But at 20.95 a person w/ $2 each for drinks, it was a little pricey. However, you do get all the king snow crab legs you want. There was another issue with them overcharging our credit card, but we are working on that issue. Just watch your bill and keep a receipt!

We just ate here a few days ago! There was 6 of us and we felt the food was just out of this world! The selection on the buffet was way above what you normally see in places and what made it really special was that Everything on there was delicious! I have never seen prime rib, rib eye steak and t-bone on a buffet with all these wonderful fish selections. The service was very good as we had a humorous waiter, we were seated as soon as we entered the dining room! For sure I will be going back here to eat in a few weeks when we return to Myrtle Beach!! My favorite was the Prime Rib, Stuffed Shrimp, and oh those delicious Scallops!!!

Our visit here was very dissatisfactory. Our table and chairs were not clean and we found dirty dishes at the buffet. When I was served my food,(not from the buffet) the baked potato was not acceptable and when I requested fries instead, the waitress said she could not do that, but suggested that someone else in our group could get fries from the buffet for me. POOR SERVICE!!!!!! I know she realized that I was unhappy and so I guess that's why she tried to overcompensate by making sure that we had plenty of tea.

We eat at Bennett's often for the all-you-can-eat seafood buffet, especially the crab legs, which are usually pretty good for the price. We like the larger tables that can accommodate our families and friends who like all-you-can-eat buffets when visiting us here at the beach.
