I do not eat Mexican food but decided to go there with my husband since he enjoys Mexican food. Now... Abuelo's is one of my "musts" while in MB. I always get the Tilapia. Wow...it's excellent. My husbands food is alright but we are working on finding him something he enjoys at much as I enjoy mine! By the way, try the margaritas!

We always love eating mexican food but this place was a dissapointment. The tortilla chips were greasy and the salsa was blah. The vegetable fajitas lacked any seasoning at all. The grilled chicken salad was ok. The service was lackluster and it took forever to receive our food or drink refills. We definitely will not be going back.

This is my little across the border heaven. This place is great. It is very beautiful in side, artistic and expressive. The service is fast, attentive, and amazing. I have never been dissapointed. My food has always been fresh and delicious. I love that they do not only have TEX MEX fare (i.e, chimicangas, burritos, nachos etc). Abuelos serves authentic dishes. Shrimp, tilapia, salmon, scallops etc. I reccomend going on FRIDAY. They have daily soup specials, and on Friday the special of the day is SHRIMP CHOWDER. I went with my fiance', who is not a soup person, and he loved it. The chowder is a perfect consistency and filled with fresh shrimp! It is sprinkled with a little cayenne pepper for spice and for presentation, so if you don't like this spice, tell them to hold the cayenne. My mother just called me from Columbia, asking me to go get the Shrimp Chowder and freeze it until the next time I travel up to see her!! The soup is that great!! Experience it for yourself. My only negative comment is that the drinks aren't worth the price...besides that, enjoy!

The food was the standard fare you would expect. However, the quality of food was not ! I was very dissapointed in the food. Left most of it on the plate - and declined the take home bag. Also we waited and waited for our order to be taken, then the food, then the bill. This wouldn't have been so unusual if the place wasn't also half empty !

The food was good. I had enchiladas and my husband had a chimi. Service was even better. Since I am very sensitive to hot things, the waiter went above and beyond to cater to my sensitive palatte. He brought me unseasoned salsa and sour cream instead of the usual enchilada sauce. The chips were the best we've ever had too! We will be back!

Very nice dining experience!! I recently took my visiting brother and neice to dinner here and all were very pleased with the food and service. The waitress was extremely attentive and pleasant. Very reasonable prices - My neice and I were not able to finish the ample amount of food served; however, we did hear about their Flan and ordered one to share anyway. It must have been made by the angels it was so absolutely delicious!!! Thank you Abuelo for an exceptional lunch!!

We have been going to Myrtle Beach each year for many years, but this was the first time we had tried Abuelo's. The food was fabulous, the service wonderful. We ate there twice and both times the experience was the same. I had the tilapia; my husband had the fajitas and said the steak melted in his mouth. Even our food-finicky son said the quesadillas were the best he had ever had. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!

We go here at least twice a month and LOVE it! The food is always great, the waitstaff professional and also fun, and the restaurant is beautiful. It's a great place for a cocktail after work, a romantic evening, or even taking a group. I give Abuelos gift certificates as gifts to some clients, and have always gotten a big thank you after they go. WONDERFUL!

We went to Abuelo’s this past weekend for our first time. We were with a larger party and we were expecting a long wait for a large table, but they were very welcoming and fit us in quickly. The atmosphere is wonderful and the restaurant was kept extremely clean even during the busy dinner time.

As soon as we had been seated our server was right over. The entire staff really took great care of us and they genuinely wanted to make sure we had a great meal. The food came out very quickly, especially for the size of our party. All of our food was hot, fresh, and even better then we had all expected. I tried the Enchiladas Cozumel and I will definitely order it again when I come back! There are also a lot of items for people who want something different then Mexican food, my husband tried the tilapia and it was so fresh! Save room for dessert because you have to try the flan!! This is now a new favorite of ours and we plan on returning real soon!

If you are in the Myrtle Beach area you need to try Abuelo’s, you will not be disappointed!

Abuelo's is by far the best Mexican restaurant to visit in Myrtle Beach. The service there is absolutely excellent. All of the waitstaff and bartenders are so friendly and very attentive. I've eaten there several times, and I have enjoyed myself during each experience. The food is always well prepared, and the price is great. The decor is brilliant! It's one of the most beautiful places to eat in Myrtle Beach. I am a manager for a few different oceanfront properties here in Myrtle Beach. We cater to lots of families, and definitely a lot of golfers too. I always recommend Abuelo's to both groups, and I will continue to do so in the future. This place is great. Definitely a must see if you're a local or a visitor to our town. Keep up the great work!

First of all, I don't think you could ever compare Abuelos to Taco Bell! People like that must not get out much! By just stepping in the door you are so amazed of how the restaurant stands out in just beautiful artwork. Just Beautiful! Getting to the food, The Los Mejores de la Casa, Best I ever had! If you go there, try it! You will not be disappointed! Service is outstanding! Looking for the best margarita in town, just swing by and get one. Also I just found out that on Wednesdays, they offer there house margarita for only $2.50 all day long. You will never find a house margarita this great! I know I can just ramble on and on about how perfect this place is for any type of dinner celebrating. So stop by and enjoy yourself!!

Just returned from another amazing vacation to Myrtle Beach and wanted to share just one component of what made this trip so amazing: the dining experience my family and I enjoyed at Abuelo's! I saw on Good Morning America that this was one of the top restaurants in the nation and just had to check it out (always the skeptic). I was not disappointed. We arrived just past 6 on a busy Friday evening and were told our party of six would have to wait 15 minutes. The place was packed, but we waited only 10 minutes until our table was ready. We were seated in a beautiful courtyard under this incredible life-like sky (our server told us the artist painted the sky and the murals in under two days!). Service was attentive and welcoming (I believe her name was Erin). I ordered the Talapia Veracruz (wonderful!) and my wife ordered the Chicken Fajitas. Nothing too spicy--just enough zest--but a word of caution: food arrives HOT and the plates are HOT! My brother and his wife shared the Grande (huge; looks like it's served on a turkey platter) and had a nice selection of seven different items. They said it was excellent, but refused to share. Our two friends ordered three enchilladas (I forget which ones, there were so many) and the pork chops (Erin said they were new to the menu and we're hoping they keep 'em: plump and juicy, not dry). An incredible dining experience! Great selection of drinks (margaritas, soft drinks, beers, etc.) and the desserts sounded wonderful (too stuffed to do more than share the caramel cheesecake, which was decadent). When we return in the fall, I promise to do appetizers and desserts on the outdoor patio (too hot in the summer) and try another margarita. Do yourself a favor when in Myrtle Beach: have lunch or dinner at Abuelo's. Yuo won't be disappointed and I'm sure you, like I, will promise to return. Can you believe this is a chain?! Absolutely fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere (Mexican music in the background) but with decent, reasonable prices. Reminds me of my trips to Mexico (only cleaner, and without the language barrier)! Kudos, Abuelo's!!!

We recently dined at Abuelo's last week, the food was absolutely horrible! I ordered the fajita chimichanga and was appaulled! My significant other ordered something that resembled crap on a plate. Our meals were luke warm if that and rather bland. We barely touched our food. Put it this way Taco Bell has this place beat. Seeing how we both work at golf courses a lot of golfers ask about fine restaurants on the Grand Strand, sorry Abuelo's, you are not one we recommend to them.

Now all Myrtle Beach needs is a good Tex-Mex place!

We just returned from a golfing vacation to Myrtle Beach and dined at Abuelos. It was wonderful. My wife had eaten at an Abeulos in Scottsdale, AZ a couple of years ago. We had actually driven to Garden City to a seafood restaurant that turned out to be closed for the season. Abuelos became an alternate choice, but it will definitely be a must stop on future trips to the beach. When we walked in the decor was fantastic, but I thought this is going to be expensive. But the prices are very reasonable for what you get to eat. My wife loved the vegetable fajitas and I a had a fajita chimichanga. It was delicious. If you like Mexican, you must try this place.

My husband and I love this restaurant. It is the perfect place to take your 'out-of-town' guests or just enjoy as a couple. The variety of food is wonderful. If you are going, you must try the bacon wrapped filet with shrimp. The cheese dip for the chips is also very good--- just try to save room for your entree!

The atmosphere is one of elegance and sophistication yet it doesn't feel stuffy and uptight like some upscale resturants.

We went out to Abuelo's last night after reading reviews here and let me say we were extremely impressed.

The restaurant is beautiful from the ceiling, wall paintings and statues. My husband and son said that even the bathroom was great, he said all that was missing was the man in the bathroom handing out towels.

The waitstaff was very good. They were very attentive that you didn't have to seek them out they were there with refills and asking if you needed anything.

The food was wonderful. My husband is Mexican and he got the Fajitas trio and said it was terrific, even said it compared to some of the food his mother makes, possibly even better. My kids loved it too. I had some of the papas con chili, wow those were great. Didn't care for the frijoles charro, but everything else was really good.

We defiinitely will be making this one of our regular restaurants.

I had the Mahi-Mahi, it had a nice taste of chilli-warm-ness [ not chili pepper ] but chillies -- something that is at times difficult to truely find. She had the grilled salmon and loved it. Fish was FRESH FRESH, Good veggies-excellent taco chips that are very light tasting. Go there now & enjoy. PS Nice ceiling--you'll see what I mean and clean restrooms.

We have retired in Myrtle Beach for 6 years, and had to go to Mexico to get a real Mexican meal. Abuelo's provides us the real taste and atmosphere of Mexico. The steak in the steak and enchaladas dinner is the best steak I have ever tasted. I'm 62 years old, and have been on many business trips to many of the finest restaurants. Our friends from Arizona go to Abuelo's restaurant in Phoenix and told us they are regulars there. Once they found out that Abuelo's was in Myrtle Beach, we all had to go when they visited last. We had a wonderful time. I hope they are around for a long time for us to enjoy.
