Wow! That was different... Haven't been to Myrtle Beach in 4 years. So much has changed. The last summer (2006) the family met for a reunion we went to Murrells Inlet and had dinner with about 15-18 people including 6 kids under 8... We went to Drunken Jack's as recommended from parents around the kiddie pool. The food was great then and so was the outside view and fun. I being the single uncle got to take the kids and look at the marsh, but even better were the temp tattoos. Got them all inked up and took them back to see their parents, but now was the greatest uncle. Fast forward, last summer... Wait time is still there, prices were higher, but the big topper on the night was gone. As dumb as it sounds those kids remembered the tattoos and wanted to go back 4 years later, only to see a flea market atmosphere. Simple entertainment brought us back, but repeat experience left us wanting more. Word to the wise, the kids need something fun besides coloring and hats if you have a 2 hour wait. I'm just saying that little difference had a huge impact.

This and Carolina Roadhouse are my favorite places to eat at Myrtle. Great, great atmosphere. All the seafood is awesome. Been here alot and never a bad experience. Usually is a long wait but they have a lounge/bar area to wiat in thats cool and you get drinks, popcorn, etc. Steak neptune is exceptional and a good salad bar.

I am a local and everytime I go to drunken jacks i feel like I am on a vacation! I go for every special occassion and lately have been going more often. I know the main complaint is the wait to get in and I have been lucky everytime. It is one of the few places that I can honestly say, I have never had a bad meal!! If you are a scallop fan, on the starters you can get bacon wrapped scallops that are the the best you will ever have, I now get that as an entre although it is not on that menue they do it for me anyway. The servers are all great! Best food on the beach, try it.

We're down for the warmer weather and this restaurant was recommended to us from relatives who had been here a few years ago. I must say southern hospitality is alive and well at this restaurant. We were seated right away. The hostess was a real southern lady, sassy and sweet. The hush puppies are addictive. the salad bar fresh and varied. the appetizers, scallops wrapped in bacon, were delish and large and tender. My husband and I both had the combo platter. He had flounder, scallops, and shrimp. I had deviuled crab, shrimp and scallops. It was plentiful and delicious. Desser was also excellant. I would definitely recommend this rrestaurant as a must dine.

While on a business trip, I decided it was time to try out Drunken Jack's. Being by myself, there wasn't any wait and I was seated immediately. The hush puppies were plentiful and tasty. The Flounder was over-cooked, shrimp was ok and scallops were good; all broiled up and served for $28.95. The green beans were horrid and if anyone says that they liked them, then you know that their review is a fake and that they were paid for their review. Seriously, my kids can make better green beans from a can! Stop laughing, it's the truth! Two beers = $6.00. Salad bar is only average and similar ones can be found anywhere. Service was average. Total bill with a 15% tip = $36.25. I ate at Angelo's last night. Not located on the inlet, nor seafood, but definitely a better meal for the biz traveler. Better salad, better service, better food (aged rib eye, baked potato, EXCELLENT fresh green beans) and all for less money! If you have ever eaten seafood down by the sea then you have eaten here before. My advice is if your by yourself and really don't care then give it a go, otherwise pass, take your family elsewhere and save yourself some doe!

My wife and I went to DJs at recommendation from our hotel desk clerk. We were surprised to see that it was pretty busy on a Tuesday night in the middle of October. We were sat in about 25 minutes after waiting in the outdoor part of the lounge. The view was great but the only downside was enduring the bad singer/ guitarist who had computerized backing music. As far as the food goes, the hush puppies w/ honey butter were heavenly and the she crab soup was awesome! The scallops, deviled crab and oysters I had for dinner were good, although I wasn't blown away by it. Our server was friendly, but she seemed overworked. I'd probably go again....

Another great trip to Drunken Jacks! I could eat my weight in their hushpuppies! This is must visit for us every time we're in Myrtle Beach! The wait is usually at least an hour but you can pass the time by sitting out on the deck and having a nice cold beverage and watching the goats on goat island!

Had always heard about DJ's. We stopped while on vacation and were told 1 1/2 to 1hr 45 min wait. We agreed to wait this amount of time. After 1 hr 45 min. we asked how much longer. Were told the party at the table they were preparing for 7 of us was paying. After another 25 minutes, we asked again. Hostess acted as though we were bothering her by asking again. Finally, after 2 hrs 20 mins. we were seated. Prices on menu didn't match the prices out front near the front door. We asked why. Told the menu prices included tax.!?!?!? Food was only average and definitely not worth 2hr+ wait. Some salad plates were dirty, not to mention a salad at this place is $9.00. Yes it's all you can eat but I'm full after one trip - who can eat $9.00 worth of salad? Very disappointed.

We are locals and decided to take family members who were visiting to Drunken Jacks for dinner. After our 2 hour wait, we were seated. Our server was very pleasant and nice. I was expecting a great seafood restaurant and I can't even explain how bad our experience was. The seafood was tough, tasteless, and just plain awful! I was embarassed to have taken family members there, waited an hour to eat the worst food we have ever eaten, and actually paid the overpriced prices for it. Will not go back.

Eleven of us, including 3 children ages 9 mos, 4 and 7 years, ate at Drunken Jacks. The experience was fabulous from the moment we walked in. Live music in the lounge was enjoyable. Seatinig 11 is no easy task but was handled well. When we got seated the children were presented with pirates hats and "gold" coins as well as coloring books and crayons. There was a children's menu along with the regular menu. I had salmon which was delicious accompanied by a salad, clam chowder, and green beans. Portions were very generous. In fact we took home doggie bags. We were hesitant to go there because of the name and the fact that we had children with us, but it turned out to be very pleasant and totally appropriate.

First of all, ignore all the bad reviews. You just can't please some people. Most of these morons are looking for a high quality meal for low quality prices. Just ignore them. You have to understand the concept of Drunken Jack's. It's meant for quality food and a fabulous view while dining. It seats about 120 people regardless of what you might be thinking while standing outside looking at it. Expect a long wait... period. We waited nearly two hours, most of which was spent in the bar area outside sipping cocktails and beer and munching on popcorn in 95 degree heat. I didn't notice the heat to be honest. After I finished my top shelf margarita, I was in heaven. We were eventually seated in less time than expected. Our server was very friendly and seemed experienced enough. I ordered the Grouper Royale which consisted of grouper, blackened, topped with crab meat and bernaise sauce. Very rich. Very good. Worth every penny of the $32.95. With alcohol and tip, our bill for four people was just over $150. It's not free, folks. If you don't want to spend money on vacation, avoid Murrel's Inlet. It's a fabulous experience!!!

I wanted to try Drunken Jack's soo bad, but not bad enough to wait 3 hours! When my party of 9 put our name on the list they told us it would be 1 hour & 30 minutes. After waiting for 2 hours we asked how much longer...the host said 45 more minutes. Needless to say that asking 5 kids to wait for 3 hours for food and it was past 9:00 at night was asking too much!!!!!! Never again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Been coming to Mrytle Beach almost every summer since i was a kid. The thing i've always loved about myrtle vacations was all the great places to eat. Of all the great places Drunken Jack's is definitly in my top 3. Great atmosphere, and view of the water. Usually have live bands and great food. My family and I usually stay up in myrtle or north myrtle but still make the trek down to murells inlet to drunken jacks at least once per trip. Love the husspuppies!

We were passing through during a trip to Charleston and decided that D.J.s looked like a nice break. Wow. The meal started with dirty salad plates. The appetizer was rotten oysters that smelled and tasted as though they were decomposing! Next came barely edible sysco seafood, and when I returned my meal the manager thought a fair reduction in price was to strike the inedible oysters from the bill. With the average meal costing from 18-28 dollars, we expected something tasty. Go lick a compost pile and then eat at Long John Silver’s, save your hundred dollars and call it even. The name is all wrong; it should be called "Drunken Thieves".

Needless to say we were happy, full and had to get a to-go box!! This is definately back on my list of places to eat while at the beach!

The food is good, but not worth the wait. Last 2 times we have tried to dine there , we arrived by 5 PM and was told there was an hour wait. I don't understand that since there were parking spaces open in front of the restaurant. The people working at the hostess station have a bad attitude and couldn't care if you get in or not. We end up going down the street to Lee's Inlet Kitchen.

This was our first and last visit to drunken jack's, My wife had the seafood platter and I had the oyster platter. Besides being way overpriced, the food was tasteless and substandard. Green beans out of a can?? come on!. I can't imagine anyone thinking this this is good food unless they've never eaten at a decent restaurant. At the prices they charge, we expected some freshly prepared good tasting food. What we got was a big disspointment. Don't waste your money on this overpriced slop.

We used this website as our guide to dining today, I asked around at breakfast and the visitors center and the consensus was Murrells Inlet, your site did the rest. We waited 30 min, close to what we were told, 3 of us were seated, I ordered broiled scallops and rice pilaf, my girlfriend had the flounder and a potato, my son a burger. My food was completely tasteless, the rice I am sure was boxed rice a roni, the fllounder was also below average, my sons burger was good. Total bill $68. Drove 30 miles disapointed, do not waste your money or time. The fish camps back around Charlotte are much better at a 1/3 the price. Does anybody care anymore?

Went this past weekend, and waited an hour and half for dinner. You cannot order just a side salad but have to order the salad bar which is $8.95, kind of expensive if all you want is a salad as a side item. My wife ordered an appetizer, a shrimp cocktail and then ended up ordering a baked potato instead of the non-existent side salad. For a restaurant of this size and the amount of time it has been open there has to be a better way than that, when it comes to salads. This has been a very popular restaurant, but if they do not take into consideration, the economy for people, they are going to have problems. The wait and then the salad fiasco, have easy remedies, if the staff would only listen.

Was our first time visiting. We arrived at 5p on a Monday evening and only waited 30 minutes. Food was awesome and everything we had fantastic. We are from Maryland so seafood is a diet staple. The fish and scallops were so fresh and some of the best I have had. The waiter was also awesome, very knowledgable about the menu and their food. His recommendations were right on! Service was great and everyone was friendly and helpful. Hushpuppies were killer! Cost was honestly in line with all resaurants in Myrtle Beach and when you are on vacation. We didn't find it too expensive, especially for the quality of the food! Highly recommend folks pay a visit.

Arrived at 5:30 PM, no reservations, and were told that there was a two our wait. The atmosphere in the bar was the best part of the visit. We were seated in exactly 2 hours as promised. The salad bar was unimpressive. The hush puppies were the greatest. The entrees were over priced. One steak was over cooked by several grades. The sea food was fair. The waiter was attentive.

We always make a trip to DJs when we go to the beach. The food is excellent and they don't overcook my broiled scallops and flounder. It's hard to make healthly seafood (no oil or butter) taste great but they always do! The wait is terrible - if they tell you 2 hours, then you'd better count on it. The hushpuppies and honey butter are sooo good and we have never had bad service. I don't think the salad bar is as good as it used to be, but it is still better than the usual saucer of bland lettuce and tomato you get at most restaurants. One gripe - they used to have a fantastic potato wrapped shrimp appetizer and have substituted a subpar crushed wonton shrimp.

We have been coming to MB for over 20 yrs. and Drunken Jacks was always our favorite. This year we went @ 5:30pm and were told there was a 2 hr wait. We decided to stay, and listen to the live music as our teenage Grandaughters could walk around and look at the boats and etc. We had drinks and popcorn down in the bottom level. At about 1 1/2 hrs. our 17 year old grandaughter, went to the desk to inquire where we were on the list. She was told that it would be about 10 more minutes, and then was questioned about her beeper as the number didn't match up with our name. She said they corrected this and we continued to wait. My husband went back at 2 hrs. and said, "what is the hold up, people are being seated that arrived after we did, and they are not a party of 2 or a large one. We were again told it would be 5-10 minutes. Finally the manager appeared and I informed her of the problem and a table magically came available while I was talking to her. We waited 2 hrs. and 45 minutes. Then we found that the food has definitely taken a downward turn. We will mark Drunken Jacks off our list now after 20 yrs. There is no reason that they cannot be better organized and have better service than this. There are plenty of good restaurants in Myrtle Beach and Murrells Inlet that we will be frequenting and I advise you to do likewise.

This was our second trip to DJ's.Last time I had soft-shell crabs - a rare treat for me - but these were blah. This time I had sauteed shrimp (scampi), and although the shrimp were high-quality, I've had better. Salad bar is ho-hum. Hushpuppies are good. The wait was long, as expected, but pleasant because we had a seat. Server Grant was excellent. For the prices they charge and the time we waited, I expect [a] superior food and [b] toilet paper in the stalls. We'll try someplace else next time.

Have been going there twice a year while on vacation for the past 15 or so years. The food this year was fair at best. A real disappointment. An almost 2 hour wait on a Tuesday, have never waited that long before. Food was dry and somehow, cold. At least the hush puppies were as great as usual, but I don't want to spend $$$ for two for hush puppies. Will be going elsewhere on our next vacation in Sept. Sorry to see such a great place go downhill so fast.

Our family has been enoying "DJ"'s for about 25 years. My husband and I try our best to celebrate our anniversary each year at Drunken Jacks. This is a 4 hour drive for us, so you can tell we love it there It is by far the best seafood and prime rib we have ever had. The hush puppies are unique and are far better than anywhere else we have ever been. For those haters who complain about the wait....so what!!! "IT IS THE BEST FOOD YOU WILL EVER EAT" We have and will gladly wait 3 hours anytime, we just expect to wait and leave early. It is very well worth it. The entertainment is great , the bar serves excellent drinks, and everyone is aways friendly. The only disappointment was one year we drove down in January and they were closed for the week. We were heartbroken.

While visiting the area we decided to go to Drunken Jacks for seafood. It was our first visit and we thought with the full parking lot it must be really good. I guess the cars were employees or the people were elsewhere because it wasn't that busy but there was still quite a long wait (little over an hour). Food was ok but not great especially for the price.

We dined at Drunken Jacks this evening and it was amazing. The hush puppies as mentioned were great with the honey butter and the Grouper Royale was to die for! We will be back! We have been here for almost a week and dined out every night. The food was without a doubt the best at Drunken Jacks, the service was excellent and they carry a local beer that is similiar to Blue Moon that you have to taste.

Drunken Jacks needs to spend a little less money on advertising and a little more money on quality food. This place is a tourist trap. With emphasis on the word, TRAP. You spend over $20.00 for an entree that you can get for $9.00 anywhere else. And the food isn't good enough to charge that much. They need new management and new cooks who care about quality food preparation. What ever you do, stay away from Drunken Jacks.

A great view of the inlet on the marshwalk. A little bit of a wait to get in but waiting on the back deck having a few drinks was awesome. The staff was always there for a refill or to get another drink. The food upstairs was to die for. The seared tuna was awesome and the she crab soup was the best i had ever tasted. All meals to our table were timely and very good. We highly recommend this place

I have been to thousands of restaurants worldwide. I reside in murrells inlet and try to patronize local establishments. Last saturday night we had friends visit from wahington, dc. We had fabulous service. However, the food was probably one of the worst meals I ever had. The grouper and crab was so overcooked, I hardly touched it. The sauce that accompanied it was packaged. The green beans were limp and tasteless. The she-crab soup also tasted like it was reconstituted, it had lumps of flour ?? uncooked still in it. Even the salad bar was marginal. And the price tag of $31.95 for the entree was ridiculous. My friends food was no better..

The absolute worse seafood I have ever eaten. There isn't a entree less than $20.00 on the menu. For that price I would expect something decent. My wife's shrimp was rubbery and devoid of any kind of taste. My crabcakes had zero flavor and I had to drown it in tarter sauce to get some kind of taste out of them. I was recently reading an article in Golf Digest about restaurants to go to after your round. To my surprise they suggested Drunken Jacks! I just feel sorry for all those out-of-town golfers who went there only to be disappointed. Hopefully they won't hold Drunken Jacks against Myrtle Beach.

If you want high prices, average food, a rude staff, and a long wait this is the place for you. The server that we had was rude. She was grabbing plates off the table even before we were finished. Trying to get us out so another $100+ could be made I guess. The meals are probably $7 or $8 more than similar offerings in the area. If you want to know how high the prices are they actually have a kids menu item for $15. It is Prime Rib, but I've ate a $13.99 all you can eat Prime Rib at Steak and Ale off the adult menu. Come on, how can a child's portion of Prime Rib be worth $15.00. That should tell you how expensive the adult menu is going to be. I wouldn't recommend waiting 20 minutes to eat here, much less the 2 hour waits that are common here. The food is not terrible, but not really worth the extra that you have to pay here. The hushpuppies are good. Expect your bill to be high dollar. Much better choices for less in the area.

We are locals and have been going here for 25+ years. Very good food and excellent atmosphere. We never go in the summer when the ‘summer folk’ are here therefore we don’t have a wait. Although waiting in the lounge can be very pleasant when they have entertainment. You can also wander on the Marshwalk while you are waiting.

Well worth the drive and time, If you have to wait then wait this is the BEST SEAFOOD down here in myrtle beach its on the "Marsh Walk" in Murrells inlet you can sit by the window and watch the water. My friends from VA took me here when they came down and told me they loved it they go here every time they come down. ever sence then i take my husband and he thinks it is the best too. the food is perfect you might have to wait so get there a little early but it is well worth the wait we waited a hour one time just to get in , just come a little early and you will be fine. The food is to die for its lovely and they give you the best hushpuppys with the honey butter they also have a salad bar the prices are av. for a seafood resturant we pay around 40 for the both of us when we go it is well worth it i recomend it to everyone i know

Very simple!!!! Overcooked, overpriced and portions were undersized. My wife and I had the Angler combination platter which was $22.99 each. The Shrimp and oysters were like rubber and the flounder was dry. These people just don't have a clue what real seafood is all about, the whole meal was a joke. My advice is to drive to Charleston and go to Hymans seafood on meeting street. The best seafood around, bar none. I know, I have eaten there most of my life.

I don't know if it is under new management or what but it is terrible now, I use to look forward to going their with my kids every year, but not any more, our waitress was terrible we had to find her everytime we needed something she acted like she hated to be there, and they are not very friendly I felt like I was bothering the staff to ask for anything..I will not recommend this restaurant.

My boyfriend who is a big eater had the seafood platter . He only ate about 1/3 of the food. He to said it had no flavor. Besides the poor food the prices were outragous for what we got. Would not have minded the prices if the food had a been a lot better.

8/5/08 - Our experience was not very good. When we arrived on a Monday night we were told a 2hr wait. We went outside on the patio and it was crowded with people and loud music. We went to the inside bar to get a drink while we waited and the bartender never bother to acknowledge us. My husband stood at the bar for 20 minutes. There was never a "Hey I'll be right with you" etc - They were not busy at all in the downstairs bar area. We left and went next door to Divines - we were seated immediately, food was excellent a much nicer experience then Drunken Jacks. We liked Divines so much that we went back the next night & had another very nice dinner & experience.

This is one of my favorites on the marshwalk. The atmosphere is nice, it isn't too noisy and the views are great. The only time i've had to wait was in July. This place has become well known and tourists will drive from north Myrtle Beach for dinner, so, in July, go early or after 8:30pm. The quality of the food is way up there but it won't break the bank. The bar is especially nice and the service is great.

What a RACKET!!....They tell you the wait time is 2.5 hours and then stick to it NO MATTER HOW MANY people leave in front of you so you will keep drinking alcohol.....I went back and checked our wait time after 1.75 hours and they told me another 50 minutes even though at least 15-20 names had been crossed off in front of and after our name that the hostess told me had decided to leave and not wait it out....we ate munchies on the deck while waiting that were good but the "live entertainment - Steve" was drunk and couldn't sing a lick....not something I would recommend

Drunken Jacks is among the finest restaurants we've visited in Murrells Inlet, Myrtle Beach, and Litchfield Beach combined! It's probably my favorite. We were seated on a busy night in less than 20 minutes. The sweet tea is amazing! The food was definitely worth the money (we were served the steak, shrimp, and scallop trio). Our waiter was super friendly, and the staff all greeted us with a friendly smile. This restaurant is definitely worth visiting!

My wife, daughter and parents went there for dinner and this was by far the most disappointing experience I have had in the Myrtle Beach area since I was a child. The service was fine. Although it took 7 minutes to get a straw. If you have a 2 year old that will only drink with a straw, I would suggest taking your own. The food was terrible. You can easily tell it was cooked frozen. The flounder was mushy and cold. The shrimp tastes like it was farm raised. The deviled crab did not even come in a shell... it was in tin foil. All the food we got was very bland. They are very proud of the food they serve, as noted by the price. Don't go with your hopes high. This was a disaster of a seafood experience

Perhaps it was because it was a busy evening we were shuttled like cattle to our upstairs tiny booth. My husband enjoyed the small salad bar and though we both tried to enjoy our dinners, we felt that we were prompted by the wait staff to speed up consumption of our dinners and get out of the way for those waiting. Personally, I am a slow eater, but not that slow, and we did order the top priced items on the menu. not that it should have matter a whit.. Obviously I missed the atmosphere others have praised, where was it? 'Cause we surely missed it.. A tourist trap sums up our feelings about our dinner and Drunken Jacks history did nothing to improve the dinner or the view of other diners in strict little army like booths.. A great story, an engaging story but abused for Tourist purposes. Never again. Pretentious without the class necessary to back it up.

Druknen Jacks is one of the best restuarants in Murrells Inlet. The girl and her boyfriend who was at the restaurant on January 4th of 2008 needs to get out of Myrtle Beach Area or SC and come North to Baltimore MD, Philadelphia, Hershey-Harrisburg area in Pa OR even NYC and see prices on the menu's and seafood isn't as fresh as your getting there! I ate at Drunken Jacks on my December visit to check on my buddies condo. The scallops were awsome and the shrimp I had were excellent too! The hushpuppies are a favorite too! Everytime I go there the food is always good and hot too! I us to live in the Myrtle Beach for a year and a half and people there don't have a relaization of prices on food! Planning to take my wife there when we go there in March! Kepp up the great job guys at Drunken Jacks. Don't change a thing!!!

My boyfriend and I ate here a month or so ago in the off season and there was no wait. I do like the bar downstairs and it is a little bit of a local's hangout (the bar). The food is just so-so. I had salmon and it was just okay. The boyfriend had the crab dip app and it was terrible-hardly any crab. Even though I'm a local Murrells Inlet girl, I won't be back. The prices are way too high for the quality of food. The view is great and the server was very good. It used to be so much better and so much less expensive. Hopefully the owners read this and I think they may be getting greedy. Of course, they don't need to local crowd to survive and they can charge the tourists the high prices. Won't be back again.

I visit this restaurant at least once per month, mainly because of their history and the view of Goat Island and the marsh. On our last visit, we felt ripped off by the price of our drinks. I think they were like $8 each. I would be willing to pay that much if this restaurant had a fancier interior - however, it's pretty beaten up looking inside. However, their food is good, especially their sampler appetizer which is really fantastic. Seafood entrees are great. Beef and everything else is a little questionable. I will return but I'm not thrilled with the value.

There were only 2 good things about this resturant. The drinks which we had a few of while waiting 2 hours for a seat and the hushpuppies. The salad bar was pitiful and the food was overpriced and not much better than a frozen tv dinner.

We went in on Sunday 9 30 07 for Lunch...It was my wife my 2 yr old and myself...My wife and I always have some type of seafood sandwich,,,This place is not very kid friendly ...Kids like Mac and cheese,Grilled cheese, Hamburgers and Hot dogs....They had fried seafood, burgers chicken fingers @$6 a pop....That was nuts....maybe for older kids .... we asked if they could make us a grilled cheese and was told they wouldn't ...That told me right away they don't go out their way....I could understand if it was 4th of July but there were only 4 other tables with people in the place...The service was average AT BEST....our server basicly ignored our child...their staff's total lack of customer awareness was displayed later while we were leaving...they have forgotten that it is the little things that keep people coming back...Unfortunately for this restaurant my wife and I both work in the hospitality industry( Hotel Concierge)..We have removed Drunken Jack flyers from our desk and displays at all ^ of the properties we manage

Went to Drunken Jack's on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 just before 5:00 PM. Went a year ago to this fine estbalishment, however things were a bit different this year. Nothing really to blame on Drunken Jack's per se, but we will share our experience. The last time we were there, we were seated relatively quickly. This time, we were told the wait would be 45 minutes. We had lots of activity this day and were very hungry, but we decided to wait it out down at the bar. The mistake we made was ordering beers, and then eating a lot of the popcorn they had downstairs. We also, becuase it was taking so long, ordered the Conch Fritters as an appetizer. Once it was time for us to have our seats, we were pretty full. So we kept it simple and each ordered a salad bar and ate the hushpuppies. We gave the waitress a well above average tip since we felt bad for not ordering full meals. Conch fritters were not very good. Hushpuppies were excellent as always. Salad bar was fresh and plentiful. If we go back next year, we will try much earlier in the day. Norm and Eve Connors Sinking Spring, PA

After reading the reviews we decided to try Drunken Jacks and we are glad we did. We arrived at 4pm and were told that they did not open for dinner until 4:30pm, however the downstairs bar and patio was open. We went to the patio and had a drink and take in the great view. At 4:30 we and the other 20 or so people waiting were called to be seated upstairs. We ordered chicken, steak and fresh salmon. The only slight down side was the line to get to the salad bar due to everyone being seated and served at the same time. Our food came just as we finished our salads. Everything was great. Prepared well, hot and generous portions. Our server was great. Our drinks were never empty and our plates were cleared soon after we finished eating. Just one word of warning: Beware of the hushpuppies - they are addicting! We got an order to go! This is a great place to eat, with great food and service.

My husband and I look forward to eating here every year. The hush puppies are to die for! I have never ate a bad meal here. The price is a little higher than other places, but you get what you pay for! The staff are always pleasant. We try to go no later than 600 or else you have to wait to get in. Anyone who can give this place a bad review has no taste!! Thanks for the great food and memories!

I took my wife and son to Druken Jacks for dinner on 8-7-07. Had to wait for 2 hrs for a table, so we went next door and had a drink. Finally was seated up stairs and it was really noisy and loud. We ordered and the food was slow coming and then half way through my baked potato I find this large black object that looked like a worm! We called the waitress over and she said, "oh we get bad potatoes all of the time, its no big deal". So I asked for the manager and he came over and said he was sorry and asked if it had ruined my meal, which I replied "yes" and he left and never returned! The charge for the three of us $67.89, they did not even comp my meal! I will never eat at this place again, what a bad experience we had. Do yourself a favor and go to the Outback or some other national chain that you can count on. Avoid this place like the plague.

We arrived at Drunken Jacks on a Monday nite and I did not realize that the wait was an hour and a half for a table. But the inlet offered a beautiful setting even at nite for walking along the deck in front of the neighboring restaurants and the fishing pier while we waited. Once we got a table we instantly were showered with the best tasting hush puppies in the world. and the order of our dinner did not take too long to come out. The food was awesome, will definetely revisit drunken jacks again.

We live locally and some out of towners invited us here for dinner. It has been at least 7 years since we dined at Drunken Jacks and it is no wonder. It was awful. When I called to ask if they take reservations I was very rudely told no and there was no call ahead list either,we would just have to wait. The wait was 1 hr & 45 minutes. We went to the bar area and the server was very rude and never even said anything close to may I take a drink order-just "Do you want something?"We ordered appetizers here and they came out 1 1/2 hours later and all wrong.Wrong soup.Wrong shrimp, etc. When we were seated in the dining room, the server was friendlier but in no way nice. Our hushpuppies were ice cold. This server messed up 3 out of 6 orders. On one order, there were oysters instead of scallops on the plate and she picked them off my DH's plate with her fingers.Totally disqusting. We were all appalled and she was amazed we were appalled. The she crab soup was a broth and had about 1/8 of a teaspoon of crab in it.This place is priced up there with the really good restaurants and you should get what you pay for. This place preys on people on vacation and takes advantage of customers.Never again.

I had heard about this place from my sister-in-law who is VERY picky about food. She loves it!! We went with friends and they ordered the Lobster. I have not had good luck with lobster in the past, finding it tough. Well, after trying a bite of hers I know what I am ordering this year when we go!! Awesome - tender - melt in your mouth lobster!! This will be a place we go everytime we are in Myrtle Beach!! OH yeah, what I ordered was great too but I can't remember what I got. Her lobster blew me away!!

Absolutely stupendous restaurant!!! The hushpuppies are soooo good that we usually eat several baskets and fill up before the meal arrives. I have gone to Drunken Jack's every year since the 70's and I must say it has wonderful atmosphere - nothing has changed since I was little. That is part of the charm, it is like a 70's sea-side lounge on the marshes.....magnificent!

We were told the wait would be an hour. It was almost two hours. The host staff was very rude and seemed disorganized. They acted like they did not care if we "lived or died." Food was cold when served. As a local, I would not consdier going there or taking out of town guests there again. All in all, a big disappiontment.

Our first trip to MB, SC and we did all the 'tourist things' and Drunken Jack's just seemed the place to have lunch and what a treat - eating outside while the boats prepared for an afternoon of fishing! The staff was very friendly, the food great, the amount for lunch just right, the price for the food and view JUST RIGHT!!! We'll be back.....thanks for your hospitality!!!

My family and I vacation in Myrtle Beach at least twice a year for years now. We used to make it a point to go here even though the wait was nearly 2 hours every time. That's how good the food used to be. The hushpuppies and honey butter alone were almost worth the wait. My favorite dish was the cold boiled shrimp platter. (A larger portion of a shrimp cocktail) They used to serve it with jumbo shrimp. But I think it has suffered a bit within the past few years. And they have raised their prices quite a bit. The dish is now served with barely medium sized shrimp and still had the veins and stuff in them. The other members of my party agreed-not as good as it used to be.

My wife and I ate there this past Thursday, as this was a place she and her family frequented many years ago.

Hushpuppies were out of this world and by far the highlight of the place. Our meals were tasty as well. My wife had a T Bone, and I had Broiled Flounder. Salad bar is a nice touch as well.

Looking forward to making a return trip to Drunken Jack's in the future.

Visited the restaurant on our Anniversary (9-26-2006). Everything was excellect as always. We started visiting the restaurant some 22 years ago while on a vacation to the beach. Everytime we are there whether staying overnite or just passing through, we always go to Drunken Jacks. One thing for sure, after all these years it is still there unlike a lot of the motels/hotels in the Mrytle Beach area. Kudos on the Sweet Potato Fries, if you haven't had them then you just have to try them. You will crave them long after you've left the area!

We have been going to Jacks for the past 15 years. We never miss eating there every time we go to Myrtle. The best, largest piece of delicious Flounder is always perfect on my favorite Anglers Platter. The Martinis are one of the best, and I've tried them all over the Strand. My wife is not a seafood lover so she always orders the Filet Mignon, and it is always perfectly cooked. Great family atmosphere and view. If you strain a bit , you can see the U.F.O. house across the inlet. Just a wonderful nite out, always.

My family and I have been going to Myrtle Beach for abotu 13 years now and everytime we go, we have to go to Drunken Jacks!! We love this place, my daughter and I are in love with the salad bar, everything is so fresh and delicious! We make a meal out of that and an appetizer!! My husband enjoys the steak and my son, no matter how old he gets will always have his chicken fingers! The atmosphere, well that can be said in one word, incredible! The amazing view of the marsh is priceless and make sure to look out onto "goat" island carefully, there are real goats out there! The staff and service has always been good to us and we don't mind the wait when you can enjoy it in the lower deck lounge! A must go to when your in the area!!!! :)

We absolutely love this restaurant. It is one of 2 in the Myrtle Beach area that we cannot pass up every time we visit the area. The food is very good, the atmosphere and view are great. The hushpuppies are "to die for". We tell all our friends and relatives who are headed to Myrtle Beach that they just have to try Drunkin' Jacks and they all come home with rave reviews of this place. As for the wait, if you arrive around 5 pm, your wait will be shorter, sometimes considerably.

This was the first time @ Drunken Jack's Restaurant & Lounge. They were very busy, had to stand in line outside. The line moved quickly and we found our way to the lounge. The bartenders were very friendly and informative, and our time waiting for our table was very enjoyable. When finally seated, the waitstaff was very friendly and the food was very enjoyable. For great food and very friendly service, I highly recommend Drunken Jacks.

Don't let the name fool you.....it's not a bar...

Four of us (two 60 yr old, well traveled couples) ate here last week and had 4 excellent meals. Their outside covered deck "lounge" (not really a lounge and kid friendly) and live guitarist made our 50 minute wait (quoted us 1 Hr) pass quickly. At 7PM, a 1 Hr wait is not bad in a good restaurant at Murrells Inlet. Prices are reasonable for the area, the atmosphere is excellent as one overlooks the sound, and our waitress was super.

Net: This is an excellent restaurant and we will definitely return next trip.

July '06 This was our first time at Drunken Jack's since moving to the area from NY 2 weeks ago. I had read some reviews prior to our visit. We were more than satified with our entire experience there. I had the crabcake sandwich w/ sweet potato fries. Honestly,THE best crabcake next to my Aunt Peggy from Maryland! Can't wait to go back for more. My husband ordered a tuna steak with fresh steamed veggies & also had the sweet potato fries. He was also VERYimpressed with his meal. The wait staff was friendly and effecient .And we were seated immediatly. The view from the outside patio where we sat was relaxing and casual. What a find!! I also applied for a job while I was there, need I say more?

What a perfect dining experience!!! It was my 1st time to the restaurant and my boyfriend's 5th or 6th. I should have listened to him on our previous visits to Myrtle Beach and visited sooner! The food was delicious! I had the Grouper Royale and he the Alaskan King Crab Legs. The Hushpuppies w/Honey Butter (served before every meal) were crunchy on the outside and sweet & soft on the inside, fried to perfection! Our server was quick, courteous and very knowledgeable. We had a window table and even had an extended visit from "Cecil" the resident Murrells Inlet Snowy Egret who sat outside on the railing. A wonderful dining experience. It doesn't get any better that this!

At the suggestion of the waitress I had the fresh trigger fish (first time trying this particular fish) and it was great. Oysters were not good during this visit. They were replaced with no questions with another item. This is our 4th year in a row patroning this restaurant and is still at the top of our list.
