Druknen Jacks is one of the best restuarants in Murrells Inlet. The girl and her boyfriend who was at the restaurant on January 4th of 2008 needs to get out of Myrtle Beach Area or SC and come North to Baltimore MD, Philadelphia, Hershey-Harrisburg area in Pa OR even NYC and see prices on the menu's and seafood isn't as fresh as your getting there! I ate at Drunken Jacks on my December visit to check on my buddies condo. The scallops were awsome and the shrimp I had were excellent too! The hushpuppies are a favorite too! Everytime I go there the food is always good and hot too! I us to live in the Myrtle Beach for a year and a half and people there don't have a relaization of prices on food! Planning to take my wife there when we go there in March! Kepp up the great job guys at Drunken Jacks. Don't change a thing!!!

If you care about food at all, here's all you need to know about this place: Bernaise sauce is made from powdered mix. Everything else is similar quality. They'e not even trying. I wouldn't walk across the street to eat here for free.

My boyfriend and I ate here a month or so ago in the off season and there was no wait. I do like the bar downstairs and it is a little bit of a local's hangout (the bar). The food is just so-so. I had salmon and it was just okay. The boyfriend had the crab dip app and it was terrible-hardly any crab. Even though I'm a local Murrells Inlet girl, I won't be back. The prices are way too high for the quality of food. The view is great and the server was very good. It used to be so much better and so much less expensive. Hopefully the owners read this and I think they may be getting greedy. Of course, they don't need to local crowd to survive and they can charge the tourists the high prices. Won't be back again.

I visit this restaurant at least once per month, mainly because of their history and the view of Goat Island and the marsh. On our last visit, we felt ripped off by the price of our drinks. I think they were like $8 each. I would be willing to pay that much if this restaurant had a fancier interior - however, it's pretty beaten up looking inside. However, their food is good, especially their sampler appetizer which is really fantastic. Seafood entrees are great. Beef and everything else is a little questionable. I will return but I'm not thrilled with the value.

There were only 2 good things about this resturant. The drinks which we had a few of while waiting 2 hours for a seat and the hushpuppies. The salad bar was pitiful and the food was overpriced and not much better than a frozen tv dinner.

We went in on Sunday 9 30 07 for Lunch...It was my wife my 2 yr old and myself...My wife and I always have some type of seafood sandwich,,,This place is not very kid friendly ...Kids like Mac and cheese,Grilled cheese, Hamburgers and Hot dogs....They had fried seafood, burgers chicken fingers @$6 a pop....That was nuts....maybe for older kids .... we asked if they could make us a grilled cheese and was told they wouldn't ...That told me right away they don't go out their way....I could understand if it was 4th of July but there were only 4 other tables with people in the place...The service was average AT BEST....our server basicly ignored our child...their staff's total lack of customer awareness was displayed later while we were leaving...they have forgotten that it is the little things that keep people coming back...Unfortunately for this restaurant my wife and I both work in the hospitality industry( Hotel Concierge)..We have removed Drunken Jack flyers from our desk and displays at all ^ of the properties we manage

Went to Drunken Jack's on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 just before 5:00 PM. Went a year ago to this fine estbalishment, however things were a bit different this year. Nothing really to blame on Drunken Jack's per se, but we will share our experience. The last time we were there, we were seated relatively quickly. This time, we were told the wait would be 45 minutes. We had lots of activity this day and were very hungry, but we decided to wait it out down at the bar. The mistake we made was ordering beers, and then eating a lot of the popcorn they had downstairs. We also, becuase it was taking so long, ordered the Conch Fritters as an appetizer. Once it was time for us to have our seats, we were pretty full. So we kept it simple and each ordered a salad bar and ate the hushpuppies. We gave the waitress a well above average tip since we felt bad for not ordering full meals. Conch fritters were not very good. Hushpuppies were excellent as always. Salad bar was fresh and plentiful. If we go back next year, we will try much earlier in the day. Norm and Eve Connors Sinking Spring, PA

After reading the reviews we decided to try Drunken Jacks and we are glad we did. We arrived at 4pm and were told that they did not open for dinner until 4:30pm, however the downstairs bar and patio was open. We went to the patio and had a drink and take in the great view. At 4:30 we and the other 20 or so people waiting were called to be seated upstairs. We ordered chicken, steak and fresh salmon. The only slight down side was the line to get to the salad bar due to everyone being seated and served at the same time. Our food came just as we finished our salads. Everything was great. Prepared well, hot and generous portions. Our server was great. Our drinks were never empty and our plates were cleared soon after we finished eating. Just one word of warning: Beware of the hushpuppies - they are addicting! We got an order to go! This is a great place to eat, with great food and service.

My husband and I look forward to eating here every year. The hush puppies are to die for! I have never ate a bad meal here. The price is a little higher than other places, but you get what you pay for! The staff are always pleasant. We try to go no later than 600 or else you have to wait to get in. Anyone who can give this place a bad review has no taste!! Thanks for the great food and memories!

I took my wife and son to Druken Jacks for dinner on 8-7-07. Had to wait for 2 hrs for a table, so we went next door and had a drink. Finally was seated up stairs and it was really noisy and loud. We ordered and the food was slow coming and then half way through my baked potato I find this large black object that looked like a worm! We called the waitress over and she said, "oh we get bad potatoes all of the time, its no big deal". So I asked for the manager and he came over and said he was sorry and asked if it had ruined my meal, which I replied "yes" and he left and never returned! The charge for the three of us $67.89, they did not even comp my meal! I will never eat at this place again, what a bad experience we had. Do yourself a favor and go to the Outback or some other national chain that you can count on. Avoid this place like the plague.

We arrived at Drunken Jacks on a Monday nite and I did not realize that the wait was an hour and a half for a table. But the inlet offered a beautiful setting even at nite for walking along the deck in front of the neighboring restaurants and the fishing pier while we waited. Once we got a table we instantly were showered with the best tasting hush puppies in the world. and the order of our dinner did not take too long to come out. The food was awesome, will definetely revisit drunken jacks again.

We live locally and some out of towners invited us here for dinner. It has been at least 7 years since we dined at Drunken Jacks and it is no wonder. It was awful. When I called to ask if they take reservations I was very rudely told no and there was no call ahead list either,we would just have to wait. The wait was 1 hr & 45 minutes. We went to the bar area and the server was very rude and never even said anything close to may I take a drink order-just "Do you want something?"We ordered appetizers here and they came out 1 1/2 hours later and all wrong.Wrong soup.Wrong shrimp, etc. When we were seated in the dining room, the server was friendlier but in no way nice. Our hushpuppies were ice cold. This server messed up 3 out of 6 orders. On one order, there were oysters instead of scallops on the plate and she picked them off my DH's plate with her fingers.Totally disqusting. We were all appalled and she was amazed we were appalled. The she crab soup was a broth and had about 1/8 of a teaspoon of crab in it.This place is priced up there with the really good restaurants and you should get what you pay for. This place preys on people on vacation and takes advantage of customers.Never again.

I had heard about this place from my sister-in-law who is VERY picky about food. She loves it!! We went with friends and they ordered the Lobster. I have not had good luck with lobster in the past, finding it tough. Well, after trying a bite of hers I know what I am ordering this year when we go!! Awesome - tender - melt in your mouth lobster!! This will be a place we go everytime we are in Myrtle Beach!! OH yeah, what I ordered was great too but I can't remember what I got. Her lobster blew me away!!

Absolutely stupendous restaurant!!! The hushpuppies are soooo good that we usually eat several baskets and fill up before the meal arrives. I have gone to Drunken Jack's every year since the 70's and I must say it has wonderful atmosphere - nothing has changed since I was little. That is part of the charm, it is like a 70's sea-side lounge on the marshes.....magnificent!

We were told the wait would be an hour. It was almost two hours. The host staff was very rude and seemed disorganized. They acted like they did not care if we "lived or died." Food was cold when served. As a local, I would not consdier going there or taking out of town guests there again. All in all, a big disappiontment.

Our first trip to MB, SC and we did all the 'tourist things' and Drunken Jack's just seemed the place to have lunch and what a treat - eating outside while the boats prepared for an afternoon of fishing! The staff was very friendly, the food great, the amount for lunch just right, the price for the food and view JUST RIGHT!!! We'll be back.....thanks for your hospitality!!!

My family and I vacation in Myrtle Beach at least twice a year for years now. We used to make it a point to go here even though the wait was nearly 2 hours every time. That's how good the food used to be. The hushpuppies and honey butter alone were almost worth the wait. My favorite dish was the cold boiled shrimp platter. (A larger portion of a shrimp cocktail) They used to serve it with jumbo shrimp. But I think it has suffered a bit within the past few years. And they have raised their prices quite a bit. The dish is now served with barely medium sized shrimp and still had the veins and stuff in them. The other members of my party agreed-not as good as it used to be.

My wife and I ate there this past Thursday, as this was a place she and her family frequented many years ago.

Hushpuppies were out of this world and by far the highlight of the place. Our meals were tasty as well. My wife had a T Bone, and I had Broiled Flounder. Salad bar is a nice touch as well.

Looking forward to making a return trip to Drunken Jack's in the future.

Visited the restaurant on our Anniversary (9-26-2006). Everything was excellect as always. We started visiting the restaurant some 22 years ago while on a vacation to the beach. Everytime we are there whether staying overnite or just passing through, we always go to Drunken Jacks. One thing for sure, after all these years it is still there unlike a lot of the motels/hotels in the Mrytle Beach area. Kudos on the Sweet Potato Fries, if you haven't had them then you just have to try them. You will crave them long after you've left the area!

We have been going to Jacks for the past 15 years. We never miss eating there every time we go to Myrtle. The best, largest piece of delicious Flounder is always perfect on my favorite Anglers Platter. The Martinis are one of the best, and I've tried them all over the Strand. My wife is not a seafood lover so she always orders the Filet Mignon, and it is always perfectly cooked. Great family atmosphere and view. If you strain a bit , you can see the U.F.O. house across the inlet. Just a wonderful nite out, always.

My family and I have been going to Myrtle Beach for abotu 13 years now and everytime we go, we have to go to Drunken Jacks!! We love this place, my daughter and I are in love with the salad bar, everything is so fresh and delicious! We make a meal out of that and an appetizer!! My husband enjoys the steak and my son, no matter how old he gets will always have his chicken fingers! The atmosphere, well that can be said in one word, incredible! The amazing view of the marsh is priceless and make sure to look out onto "goat" island carefully, there are real goats out there! The staff and service has always been good to us and we don't mind the wait when you can enjoy it in the lower deck lounge! A must go to when your in the area!!!! :)

We absolutely love this restaurant. It is one of 2 in the Myrtle Beach area that we cannot pass up every time we visit the area. The food is very good, the atmosphere and view are great. The hushpuppies are "to die for". We tell all our friends and relatives who are headed to Myrtle Beach that they just have to try Drunkin' Jacks and they all come home with rave reviews of this place. As for the wait, if you arrive around 5 pm, your wait will be shorter, sometimes considerably.

This was the first time @ Drunken Jack's Restaurant & Lounge. They were very busy, had to stand in line outside. The line moved quickly and we found our way to the lounge. The bartenders were very friendly and informative, and our time waiting for our table was very enjoyable. When finally seated, the waitstaff was very friendly and the food was very enjoyable. For great food and very friendly service, I highly recommend Drunken Jacks.

Don't let the name fool you.....it's not a bar...

Four of us (two 60 yr old, well traveled couples) ate here last week and had 4 excellent meals. Their outside covered deck "lounge" (not really a lounge and kid friendly) and live guitarist made our 50 minute wait (quoted us 1 Hr) pass quickly. At 7PM, a 1 Hr wait is not bad in a good restaurant at Murrells Inlet. Prices are reasonable for the area, the atmosphere is excellent as one overlooks the sound, and our waitress was super.

Net: This is an excellent restaurant and we will definitely return next trip.

July '06 This was our first time at Drunken Jack's since moving to the area from NY 2 weeks ago. I had read some reviews prior to our visit. We were more than satified with our entire experience there. I had the crabcake sandwich w/ sweet potato fries. Honestly,THE best crabcake next to my Aunt Peggy from Maryland! Can't wait to go back for more. My husband ordered a tuna steak with fresh steamed veggies & also had the sweet potato fries. He was also VERYimpressed with his meal. The wait staff was friendly and effecient .And we were seated immediatly. The view from the outside patio where we sat was relaxing and casual. What a find!! I also applied for a job while I was there, need I say more?

What a perfect dining experience!!! It was my 1st time to the restaurant and my boyfriend's 5th or 6th. I should have listened to him on our previous visits to Myrtle Beach and visited sooner! The food was delicious! I had the Grouper Royale and he the Alaskan King Crab Legs. The Hushpuppies w/Honey Butter (served before every meal) were crunchy on the outside and sweet & soft on the inside, fried to perfection! Our server was quick, courteous and very knowledgeable. We had a window table and even had an extended visit from "Cecil" the resident Murrells Inlet Snowy Egret who sat outside on the railing. A wonderful dining experience. It doesn't get any better that this!

If seafood to you means breaded and fried, and if you want a restaurant with a gimmick, then you will love it. Seriously, it is probably one of the best of this genre on the Strand. Salad bar is adequate for a side, but not for a meal. I had a pasta/seafood dish. The seafood was great; pasta and sauce were below average.

Memories: excellent hushpuppies, nice view of the inlet. I've never seen so many people taking pictures of a restaurant's sign.

We have been visiting Pawley's Island for the past five summers, but this was our first trip to Drunken Jack's. (We read your site and decided to try it.) We were thrilled to find a new "favorite" and we will continue to go back each time we visit the area. The seafood was fresh and fantastic; choices were numerous; service was great, and although they told us to expect a one to one and a half hour wait, we were seated in 55 minutes. Even our teenagers loved the place! If you are vacationing anywhere near Murrell's Inlet, you must try Drunken Jack's! (Oh, and it was unanimous that the hushpuppies are the very best we have ever tasted!)

This is an excellent well run restaurant with great food. The first restaurant we go to when we are in Myrtle Beach is Drunken Jack's. You may wait to get in on a busy night but it is worth the wait and usually not too long.

Bravo! Perhaps the best in Murrells Inlet. I have been visiting the restaurant for about 18 years. I wouldn't change a thing. The food is excellent, the service is friendly and you have a great view of the inlet. I recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the Myrtle Beach area, I think I have sent, maybe, 200 or more and they all were more than satisfied. I just have a hard time believing that Jack washed down all that rum. If you do visit, ask about the legend of Drunken Jack. (NOTE) If still available, you should try the hushpuppies w/ honey/butter sauce, the best I have ever had.
