Service was good as was the food. However the owner John can be quite rude and if there is a problem he walks away without a word. Had one issue with the soup which I said was all beans and he never said sorry, I will remove it off. The bill or can I replace it. Bad business practice. Will not return.

We went there for the first time today. This is an excellent restaurant. We had sandwiches and they were outstanding in both quality and quantity. The service staff was also outstanding. We will definitely make this a regular stop.

Our community recently had an Italian Night at our clubhouse catered by Maggi D's. Our delicious dinner arrived hot and ready to serve. Of the 63 people in attendance, everyone had nothing but praise - the pasta bolognese, italian sausage with onions & peppers, eggplant parmesan (absolutely to die for), tossed salad and of course Maggi D's homemade canoli for desert. What more could you ask for!!!! It was a real pleasure dealing with John and his wonderful staff. If you haven't been there, you are missing out on a wonderful eating experience. When you have that manay people attending and no complaints - then you know it was a success!

After eating at Maggie D's a number of times and having great service and food, I decided to use Maggie D's to cater our Valentine's Day Dinner at Tidewater Plantation . I will say if I had any second thought, John reasured me, he would not let me down. He beat all my expectations. He thought of everything in including 2 salad dressings, cheese, extra sauce and bread. John even told me how to heat the bread in the oven before serving to get that crispie crust. He told me he would give me exta bread because he knew people love his bread and would ask for more. Boy was he right. The pasta course, Rigatoni Bolognese was full of meat in the sauce. The Chicken Marsala was excellent and not dried out and fork tender. People said it was the best meal we had ever for any of our events. Once again John you outdid yourself. Try them you will not be disappointed.

I went to Maggie D's after reading that they were voted #1 for Best of the Grand Strand. After eating there a week ago on a Friday night I have no idea how this place was voted #1. The food was absolutely HORRIBLE and the place was empty except for a table or two. The Owner was there and was so rude to people who were complaining about their dinner that we were afraid to open our mouths. The food itself, I guess, do to lack of business is not fresh at all. Sauce is watery, bland and the meat is tough! My wife didn't even finish her wine because it appeared stale! I very rarely write reviews but after experiencing how bad this place is especially when they were voted #1 I felt I had to post. After reading the reviews in this website especially the one about catering a party I can't help but think was the "ballot" box stuffed to make this place #1 and who is writing reviews praising this place (especially the ones which appear to be an advertisment)! HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!

2012 not a good year for Maggie D's. Went with a group of friends for dinner. Waited forever for our food. Part of our group had to leave early for medical reasons and asked for their check. It was brought and no one returned for quite some time. When the person asked to pay their check the owner was rude, obnoxious and practically threw the check at them! They charge for share plates. Sorry Maggie Ds but won't be visiting your establishment again. Will take our business where it is appreciated.

My husband and I went to lunch at maggi d's and we just loved it. The food was very very good, there was many different kinds of food to choose from. The atmosphere was very enjoyable, because of the people who work there. If you go once you will be going back again and again. Maybe we will see you there alice and ray from new jersey..

Are you seriously thinking about having a dinner party? Are you worried that it will be too much work? Don't fret! Go to Maggi D's and talk to John. He'll give you a menu. Then, when you have a final count decide what specific foods will fit your needs. John will take care of you. Trust us. He is a pro at this! We just had a dinner party for 38, catered by Maggi D's. The food was delicious, every mouth-watering bite! We also recommend getting loaves of Italian bread. John will provide you with oil to brush on the bread. Once heated a few minutes, you won't be able to cut it fast enough. All our friends loved the food and ate to their heart's content. So, don't worry about slaving over a hot stove - call John at Maggi D's and let him cater your party. You can relax and enjoy your company. If you haven't tried Maggi D's, go for lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed. John always aims to please.

After hearing great things about this restaurant I had to try it for myself.WOW..I was not disappointed. My great experience began when I called for a reservation and talked to John(owner) who was friendly and made me feel like they were looking forward to seeing me and sharing their passion for food with me.When we arrived John met us at the door and made us feel welcome and excited about our upcoming meal. Our server Joseph was professional but also friendly. The bread is fantastic and the dipping oil was as it should be,light fruity w/fresh herbs.Salads were crip, fresh and the house vinaigrette wonderful.I had the salmon w/sundried tomatoes, creamy rice and crispy spinach....WOW...not only a beautiful presentation but absolutely delicious!!My friend had the special of the nite,a chicken cutlet with a feta ragout over fettucine w/ a balsamic sauce,I know I'm leaving out some of the other ingredients out but my friend only let me have one bite lol.but I'm telling you the layers of flavors in that dish were unbelievable. We finished our meal enjoying house made cannoli's sent over by John.I can't wait to return and since I am now a MB resident I plan on eating my way through the menu.I urge you to try this restaurant you and your taste buds will be very happy.

Several years ago, I was one of Maggi D's first customers at their first restaurant on 544..and I promise you I will be their last (which I hope is at least 40 years from now.) The NEW restaurant behind Coastal Mall is beautiful and inviting. The Bar is loaded and waiting to "Chill" your taste buds. John, Michelle and their staff are wonderful! Friendly and Attentive. People...believe me.... if you want a great Italian meal , this is the place to go! The Subs at Lunch are to dye for..(# 10 is my personal favorite) .I actually crave them! John makes his own sauce, OOH..LA LA...The homemade Lasagna is THE BEST I EVER ATE! I am a Native of Baltimore Md. and thought I could only find an awesome Crab-Cake on the Chesapeake...WRONG!!! Maggi D's Crab-Cakes are handmade lump Backfin and are incredible!! I am a local and I take ALL my visiting relatives and friends to Maggi D's. You can't beat the price or the quality. Every year since their opening I Celebrate my Birthday with a large number of family and friends, NO crowd is too large!!! Do yourself a favor and try Maggi D's...You will be "Hooked" like me

This has to be one of the worst places I've experienced. Food was below average, but the worst part is that the owner was the most obnoxious person I've ever met. I guess its ok to talk disrespectful to your customers from where ever he comes from. Of course that would explain why there was only one person in the whole place. This is definitely a place that I will never visit again.

Everything is awesome! omg! I get the pasta fagoolie or fazool or however you spell it! with the sandwhich that has fresh bazil salami and italian garlic dressing! omg! this is the best resteraunt! you get seated right away and the service is on the ball! it's like they're mind readers they come back and they are so polite about the topic, the atmosphere across from coastal grand mall is so much larger and better than the one next to fox's pizza. The atmosphere that is. They moved across from coastal grand. Noise level is awesome! but the owner is from new jersey, so he talks loud to costomers on the other side of the resteraunt.go for lunch not for dinner! prices are cheaper and if you go for dinner, the food portions are not that larger and cost of to ten dollars moe than lunch!.

Went to Maggi D's for lunch the other day -- our first visit. It was outstanding! The food was the best Italian we've had in our 10 years living at the Beach. Don't even get me started on how good the bread was. The service was great and the owner friendly and accomodating. Ok, he's Italian and he's from NJ so don't expect a quiet, low key guy -- but he was warm, friendly and boy can he cook! He's proud of his restaurant and he should be, as it is just the best! Can't wait for my next visit.

Anyone who says this resturaunt was bad does not enjoy a soothing environment and excellent food. You wouldn't think this would be coming from a 16 year old, but it is. What a marvelous discovery! A friend recommended Maggi d's to my wife & I ( we vacation here every year.) From the moment we walked in, we were treated like family - John, the owner greeted us & said we would love it - He was not wrong! My chicken marsala was excellent, a perfectly sweet & rich sauce which is hard to come by in most Italian Eateries, let me tell ya! my wife's chicken parmigiana was a delight, also ( she is a fussy eater, trust me.) Overall, we were impressed with the friendliness of everyone & the food is more than enough for anybody.

My friends and I were driving around looking for an Italian restaurant on our last night in Myrtle Beach. We really wanted something authentic and locally owned. We came across this restaurant when we were driving and decided to stop. We noticed that the restaurant was going to close in about 20 minutes but they let us in anyways. It was AMAZING! Everything was great even the salad. We met the owners and they were great people. Had a true New Jersey/New York accent and were the friendliness down to earth people. We had 5 girls and everything dish was perfect. I had a dish with chicken and it was cooked to the key. We then had a desert and it was home made. Yummy! I recommend this place to everyone even locals. Just their hospitality alone would make me want to go back. Great experience and a perfect way to end the trip!

The meatballs were the size of my fist, and the sub had four of them on my plate. I was obvious they were homemade. My wife had wedding soup and a sub, it was huge. We also had a cannoli, they were great. We also had a great chat with the owner. I should mention that they are moving from the 544 location to a larger location next to the coastal grand mall, in the strip mall by five guys burgers (where they are building the new bank of America). This is not a chain, and run by locals. Paul Richardson

We had 6 people go to dinner on this evening. Maggie D's was recommended by our cousin. This was some of the best Italian food we have ever had. I was dining with some people who can be very critical of pasta, and there was nothing but praise from all members of our group this night. The best marinara sauce they have had since they left New York. To top it off the deserts (canoli, cheesecake, & tiramisu) were also delicious. Would highly recommend to anybody. We will definately dine there when we are in town.

We took a shot this evening and dropped in and we had a very good meal. The owner is from the Bronx and is a very welcoming & friendly guy. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The owner told us they are moving to a new location in February. The bread was also very good as they get it shipped in from Jersey.

I don't usually write reviews but felt I had to on this restaurant. I like trying different places and finally after passing it so often we decided to go there one day for lunch while out shopping. It was closed although according to their hours should have been opened. A couple of weeks later we decided to go for dinner and got there around 7:15 p.m. to find that they were closed and this was a Thursday night. They were inside cleaning up but the doors were locked. So, we went back the next night.....what a MISTAKE! The food was absolutely horrible! Our waiter was o.k. but the Owner, John, came by and he was a loud mouth, obnoxious man. The other reviewer who said he was acting like he was a Soprano was telling the truth. OBNOXIOUS! Getting back to the food. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and it tasted a little funny like it was old. I ate about half of it. My friend's dinner was luke warm when she got it. The calamari was rubbery....awful! The wine tasted "stale". There was only two other tables in this restaurant and it was a Friday night at around 6:30. I guess everyone knows what I know now that this restaurant is one to stay away from. I could have saved myself some money, bought Stouffers in the frozen food section of Food Lion and had a better, fresher meal. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE PLACE! It's hard to believe it is still open!

This past July my wife and I dined on two occasions at Maggi D's and found the food to be scrumptuous. With my wife being of Italian descent and an excellant cook herself (my waist line is proof of that), we rarely dine at Italian restaraunts because the don't seem to measure up to my wifes fine cooking. Well let me tell you, we ate there twice and will certainly the next time we are in the Myrtle Beach area. The spaghetti and meat sauce was divine with meatballs the size of small bowling balls and the wedding soup was great not to mention the desserts. The second meal of pork chops over a rice pilaf bed was heavenly. The food pricing is very affordable and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Thanks for two enjoyable meals John and staff we appreciate it and will dine again.

We decided to try Maggie D's for dinner after driving by it. Food was horrible and one of the worst meals I have ever eaten while vacationing in Myrtle Beach (we have been coming here for the last 10 years). My chicken was undercooked and my Husband's Alfredo was cold to lukewarm. The food did not taste very fresh. No wonder why there was only one other table in the restaurant besides us on a night they should have been busy. I will never eat there again!

Peeps, I should have steered clear of the sangria at Maggi D's Italian restaurant last night. I think John spiked it because he said I was snippy. Heh...that's because I told him I thought "Maggi D" would be a short, fat, Italian woman and it's actually a short, fat Italian man from the Bronx...who's cute to boot and makes his own sauce. Mmmm the sauce...the sauce....makes me wonder what John's thinking about while he's smooshing the tomatoes by hand....how can you make love to a tomato? Next time you're there, ask John, the owner...who makes his own sauce. The food at Maggi D's is GREAT..well priced and plentiful. The bruschetta is to die for; how can you take a piece of bread, garlic, olive oil, diced tomatoes, and a ton of mozzarella cheese and make manna from heaven? I dunno, but Maggi D knows how. My girlfriend Jennifer loves, loves, loves the Clam Linguini; actually says it's the best Clam Linguini she's ever had and girl knows her Clam Linguine having eaten it all up and down both coasts. It was lighter on the lemon last night, but she said it was still divine. Last week I had the Chicken Marsala...which was nice, but, forgive me, Jesus and John, could be better. The sauce was a little heavy on lemon, a bit thin and didn't have that rich Marsala flavor that I love. A few more mushrooms in the sauce would have been nice also. The Pasta Fagioli (pronounced "fah zool"....who knew?) soup is thick and yummy with white beans; excellent with the hot baquettes. Last night Jennifer and I got to the restaurant around 5:20PM and were presented with the Early Bird menu which usually runs until 5PM. I tried the Chicken Parmigiana with a side of Penne pasta. I can't begin to describe the gracious plenty of food that was on the plate....delicious soup, excellent bread, and yummy chicken and pasta. After having enjoyed the meal and having leftovers boxed up, there's enough food for another meal.....for two.....a bounteous meal for only $9.95. Every dish that we've tried has been excellent: *Mozzarella Caprese *Bruschetta *Italian Wedding Soup *Pasta Fagioli Soup *Linguini with Clams *Chicken Marsala *Chicken Parmigiana *Pasta with Boulagnese Sauce Maggi D's restaurant is an unassuming little place in a small mall at 4620 Highway 544 in Myrtle Beach. It has a funky, lowkey local vibe and feels like a small place that you might wander into in New York or Del Mar. It's a local restaurant worth patronizing again and again. The food is wonderful and the prices are geared towards a local clientele, not the out-of-town tourist. There's live guitar music that adds nicely to the ambience of clatter and chatter of a big city restaurant with a definite smalltown feel.

My husband and I were in the Myrtle Beach area doing our renewal of our wedding vows on the beach. We had looked all over the area for Italian places to eat that would accomadate a large group for after our ceremony. We came to Maggie D's, and John (the owner), sat down with my parents and me and gave us samples of things on his menu. He and his staff took the time to let us try things and sit down and talk with us about what kind of accomadations he could give us. We went back for lunch the next day and were blown away by not only how great the food was, but how much food we got for such a small price. Myself, being an extremely picky eater, was very surprised at how good the food was. We decided to come here after our renewal ceremony. John was nice enough to shut down the whole place about an hour early so we could have the place to ourselves. The food was amazing, and everyone who attended the dinner (around 20 people) was very satisfied with the quality and quantity of food. John and his staff treated us GREAT!! I only wish there was a place like this around my home town. I would visit it often.

I was vacationing in Myrtle Beach with my fiance', and we had planed to go to a really nice resturant on our last day. After serching for hours for a good resturant we found "Maggi D's" on this web-site. After reading the reviews we were sold! When we got there it more than exceeded our expectations. The owner, Johnny, sat down with us and chatted with us like we were long lost cousins, we got there 1/2 hour before they closed and we were encouraged to stay an our after the doors were locked to hang and chat.. There was classical guitar playing the whole way through dinner service, and the food. . . . .the only way to descibe it was unbelievable. Not only was the food the best i ever had, but we were treated to complimentary Cannolis and Merlot. I have never eaten at a place, before or after, that has compared to "Maggi D's". Hands down the must go spot if you're in Myrtle Beach.

Four of us went to Maggie D's last night for dinner - we had been meaning to go for months and never made it there. We will, however be going back. The food was excellent - we had a couple of appetizers (one was bread slices with melted cheese, the other mozzarella with roasted red peppers) were delicious. We all had different entrees which were wonderful. Not only is the food good but they are very accommodating with requests for modifications. Then we had homemade cannoli and cheesecake for dessert. Maggie D's is definitely the best Italian restaurant we have been to in SC and one of the best restaurants of any type. It's well worth the trip.

My husband and I just ate at Maggi D's for the first time. We have been searching for great Italian food and we FOUND it here! The early bird special was more that enough food. Both soups were tasty. I had chicken marsala and my husband had chicken parmesan. And the bread was also the best, crusty on the outside, just what we had been missing at all the other Italian restaurants at the Beach. We will definitely be back. John and the entire staff were attentive at all times.

Recently my Fiancee and myself stop on a whim at Maggi D's "Fine" Italian Cuisine (Fine? more like Barf Out!). Upon ordering from a guy that clearly had, or was using a fake English accent (My Fiancee said he was either trying for a large tip or something he thought. This was quite funny to us since my Fiancee is in International business , and goes to Europe quite often.) Now here comes the part of why not to eat there. First it took forever to get 2 glasses of wine approx(20 min). Then our food was another 30 min when we got it mine was cold and his drastically under cooked( he ordered chicken parmigiana ). We are not picky people, but when it comes to chancing food poisoning this is where we draw the line. We first talked to the waiter (who still kept up with his fake accent, lol). He got the owner (who upon showing up, gives Italian guys a bad name by acting like Tony Soprano. This guy really should not be in the restaurant business. He should go back to whatever cesspool in toxic Jersey he comes from.) So my Fiancee just simply asked if he could have it put back in to cook a moment more(It was cold center and this was chicken?).The owner( who would only tell us his name is John)at this point blew up ,did not ask us to leave, he told us to leave and acted like a complete lunatic. On top of all this the place was very unclean around the baseboards, and the appearance of the staff was very untidy.Word to the wise avoid this place at all cost!

I have to agree with the poster on 9/4. We found our experience to be similar. The quality of the food was not only poor but we felt not fresh. The Saturday night that we went the restaurant was empty maybe this accounted for the food lacking in freshness. I had the Eggplant Parmagiana and found it to be extremely mushy. We had a Calamari appetizer that was very rubbery. My wife had the Veal Parmagiana and the meat was extremely tough and her some of her sauce was burnt. The server showed no interest that we did not eat most of our food nor did he care. Since we are not the type that like to complain we just left very unsatisfied. We always like to try new places but regarding Maggie D's this is one that I have been there, done that and won't do it again! Don't waste your money, folks! Just a side note: As we entered the restaurant we had to pass two servers who were outside the front door smoking. That should have sent up a Red Flag!

My experience was that I tried it once 2 months ago & it is what it is.....cheap food at a cheap price. I can go to Fazoli's for the same quality at an even cheaper price. There are a lot nicer & better quality Italian restaurants in the area that are a little more expensive but well worth it! (Villa Romana for example) You get what you pay for. I liked my server but the owner hovered over us making us very uncomfortable. It is too small of a place. My server was friendly but he was smoking a cigarette in his apron across the street at the Kangaroo on our way driving in. Big turn off! Save your money!!

This place is the greatest, from a Chicago born Italian's tastes! This place is run by Itialian, Jersey Boys and cannot be beaten in Myrtle Beach. The early bird specials are to die for, soup or salad, entree and pasta for $9.95, and trust me, you won't leave hungry! I have three teenaged and up sons, and we love to go there because the five of us can eat wonderful food and not break the bank. The boys espcecially love the Pasta Fa Goli (? spelling) and Italian Wedding Soups, the Chicken Parm and the Spaghetti and meatballs! I love the Italian Salad and the Chicken Francese, and, the desserts are to die for, espceially the cannoli! We are hooked, and so fortunate, Maggi D's is so close to our home. We frequent it often, our most visited Italian Restaurant in the Myrtle Beach area. Try it' you'll be sold! The service is top notch also, and the owner is always on premisis, seating you, and checking in to make sure everything is wonderful. A top notch place that truly cares for their customers!

No, the beginning is when John welcomes you into the restaurant with all the warmth of going to your uncles house for dinner. (heck of a nice guy). The food was great! Service was above par. Price was well worth the portion and quality. Oh, order the cannoli, it'll remind you of home!

We have three young men as sons, the youngest being 14. We absolutely love Italian Food, and we think that Maggi D's is awesome! The food, the friendliness of the staff, the service and the atmosphere are top notch. The early bird specials are phenomonal, and the portions of food will not leave anyone leaving hungry! We highly recommend Maggi D's to anyone wanting a truly authentic Italian meal at affordable prices! Our favorite place to dine in MB! From the piping hot delicious bread, the soups, salads and entrees, everything is mouth-watering. I personally like the Chicken French, my sons like the Chicken Parmesean & Italiam Wedding Soup, and my husband's favorite is the Spaghetti and meatballs with the Pasta E Fagoli! The menu is much more extensive than our tastes, these are just our personal favorites. Oh, and yes, you cannot forget the Calamari or the desserts to die for!
