Read the review from Askin, NC, I'm embarrassed that your from NC. Most likely you are not. HOTO's is a great local and vacationers hang out especially on Sunday afternoon. Music is awesome. People are friendly. Food is good and Beer is cold. What more could you ask for on the Beach.

I love HOTO's been a few times and with family (1 KID) We all enjoyed the pleasant feeling and surroundings. Now I see from some of the reviews a lot of you probably enjoy sitting in your car with some fancy bottled beer...

As "snow birds" we found this oasis while sitting on the beach one day in Feb. It was about 72 degrees. Out of no where came the sound of music. We investigated and found HOTO's deck, with 2 man band (who were great) , behind a beautiful sand dune, on the ocean, drinks in hand, under full sun. Our waitress made us feel like we were regulars. The food ordered was good bar food. We love HOTO's

Went here last October during my stay at the Wyndham. Walk up and stagger back.. awesome! Looking forward to getting back there next week for a couple nights, Can't beat having lunch and a couple cold ones out on the deck overlooking the beach! Lots of fun and friendly people!

The city should shut this dump down, nothing but rednecks and trailer trash. Good place for an AA booth though, last time I was there a guy was urinating in the men's room sink. Class act, have another drink.

Yeah, folks. This isn't a place for your youngin's. It's a place for adults who want to party a little. Seems to be a mix of locals and vacationers. A few of the reviews make out like HOTO is some kind of Roadhouse kinda place where brawls break out every ten minutes and everyone leaves with with a bloody nose and black eye. This, I assure you, is nonsense from my experience. Now, this isn't the place to go into if you have a tendency to point your nose in the air and complain about anything that doesn't meet country club standards. And if you act like a jerk, I could totally see you getting your @$$ handed to you in a Styrofoam box. The point is that HOTO's is a place to go party, have some beer and couple of shots, burp loudly, and have a laugh. There's not much in the way of pretensions. There's no dress code to speak of. The food won't knock your socks off. It's typical bar food and you shouldn't expect anything more. I had some wings that were so-so, but I didn't mind. I wasn't really there for the food. I would also suggest that while it has a good-time feel, this place doesn't really cater to college-aged folks. It feels more intended for those who are older but still like to party. In the end, it's kind of a dive bar. It's a little dingy and the music is a little loud, and the local regulars seem to enjoy leaving with a good snoot-full. But there's nothing wrong with that.

Went with my 80 year old mother and her boyfriend (She calls him her dancing partner - LOL). They danced to SeaCruz. They got special mention by SeaCruz and the crowd clapped. They loved the attention. We have a condo next door. Even if it wasn't next door, we would drive 30 minutes to get to HOJO's. Also, love the pancake house across the street. Will be back, again and again.

With all of todays tourist traps one can find Harold's on the Ocean (HOTO'S) is one of those locals favorites that we cannot get enough of. This is no place for ultra conservatives and stuffed shirts. It is where the waitstaff call you honey, the food is usually very good and the music is rocking, especially on weekends. It is a place and attitude to savor. It's our cherry groveville. You add Coastline, Holiday Band, Craig Willard, and others we we have OUR slice of Heaven.

My wife is from NY and I'm from SC/NC. Like everyone said, it's a place to let your hair down, drink some bev's....maybe a shot for me....and enjoy the view. We have 4 kids under 4 including triplet three year olds and we're smart enough to leave them with Grandma and Grandpa. Yeah, people are kinda slow to warm up, but once they heard me order a Jager, put on some Chairmen of the Board, we suddenly were in the company of friends. Gotta know your surroundings....it's called social awareness. Btw....the tall guy actor looking bartender knows the cools spots and the homemade soups rock.
