I own and operate THE ROOST, 101 A Prather Park Dr. on Forestbrook in Socastee - 843.236.5121. Almost all of the bad reviews written on this site are from fired employees. Not only have we received 14 "A" ratings in a row on our DHEC heath inspection, 3 of those have been perfect scores. All I can ask of you is that you come in and TRY THE FOOD. You will love everything you get or you don't pay for it. You can also see that this website is rarely updated since the address and phone number are incorrect.; Just give us a try and you will be steady customers from the moment you sample anything on our menu. Ordered a 18" Cheese, Pep, Onions & Mushroom. Charged 18 bucks for a terrible tasting, paper thin....and I mean PAPER THIN.....undercooked pie. Worst pizza i've ever had. Don't waste your $. Much better off buying a Palmero frozen pie. Never thought i'd say frozen is better pizzaria but when compared with this place it's true.

I went to the Roost about a year ago, and must say that the above reviews were entirely true. The food was alright at best, the service was marginal, and the owner was loud, rude, and his screaming and swearing at his staff was the final straw for my visit. After a year away, I decided to give the roost another shot. I figured if the atmosphere was the same, I would take my food togo. I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised. Our server was prompt, our food was great, and our cook (i think his name was either jake or james) came to the table, checked on the food quality, and talked with us for a few minutes. The care and concern that he and our server had for our experience was refreshing compared to my previous visits. The owner was nowhere to be seen during a sizeable dinner rush, and to be honest, that was a relief. I encourage EVERYONE to give the roost another chance as I did. Hopefully you stop in when the same great folks are there to take care of you. Thanks for reading.

Lives up to its name, THE ROOST.. Think about it... A place where CHICKENS live. Went in over the weekend with my hubby, and two kids. This is NOT a family establishment and should be classified as a local dive! Too smokey, the food is just plain awful, over priced and really, the owner should try being professional, instead of an obnoxious drunk. Nothing is homemade here, the food is all jarred, fake and premade. My son had the childs pizza, and it was still raw, I had the philly, which was good, my daughter had spagetti and meatballs, which she wouldnt even eat, The sandwiches were decent, but the italian food was stomach turning...

I would spend money in a vending machine before I ever waste any money at this disgusting stomach turning resteraunt. How do they even get a business license... doh needs to inspect because I've seen the filthy cook go from wiping his nose on his sleeve, to not washing hands, to smoling to cooking. This is a hobby resteraunt and the cook should retire because there is nothing special about his cooking. Stomach turning

Being a brand new resident of Myrtle Beach in the Forestbrook area I was happy to see a family owned small restaurant/pub close by the home. My family and I decided to visit this establishment last night and walked out after only ordering drinks. We were appauled at the service and attitude of the employees. Although we were initially met by an older gentleman (I believe may be the owner) who was extremely cordial and accomodating. We sat down at our table and while we were awaiting the other 2 members of our party the 4 of us ordered drinks and an appetizer (soft pretzels). Now, this is where it all started going South. First off, they were "out of" the two different beers that were ordered (odd? This was a bar was it not? Not to mention not busy at all....how do you run out of beer with only one drunk sitting at the bar?) Secondly, although the waitress had to go back twice to the kitchen to ask several questions regarding the "hot pretzels" they arrived within 3 mins of ordering them: Cold, wet and very unappealing to the eye. While sitting at our table and waiting for our drinks, appetizers and other members of our party to arrive it was observed by me that the "help" at this establishment was not happy with our arrival. I personally witnessed the bartender and the cook staring us down as if we just inconvenienced them by coming in! They also proceeded to make very ugly faces at not only us but every other couple that walked in after us. It was very apparent that they did not want our business nor anyone elses. After sitting for approximately 10 mins, we were then informed "if you want anything to eat then you're gonna have to order right now! I was just informed that they're closing the kitchen at 9:30 so hurry up and order now". Are you kidding me? Now, at this point we'd all decided to pay the tab and leave which is what we did. I must point out as well that this was not a very clean establishment and both the cook and the bartender were cleaning up the counters and various items, smoking cigarettes at the bar and then entering the kitchen and/or serving beverages all the while NEVER washing their hands. I will NEVER frequent this dive again and I suggest that you don't either!

I have been to the roost a few times, I have to say some of the food is great, some of it is not due to the fact that it is not homade, most if frozen chicken strips and just plain sauce that tastes like it come from foodlion. The service is just plain crap, unless you get it from tim (that is if you go in before he is drunk) . It is supposed to be a family resturaunt but it seems like a local dive like the sunup in socastee with a little bit better food. the decor of the place is suitable. but the owner could learn not to yell and swear like he does in front of his customers. I mean come on if you go in there past 7 all you got is the bar full of drunk people and the owner joining in on the drunken escapade. As far as being seated timley, sure its excellent cause you seat yourself and not one table is occupied. I have to say I do like the steak sub but not the atmosphere. I would rather stay home and cook my self especially because of the prices and atmosphere.

The Roost moved to Forestbrook Road, only a stone throw away. It is aw-sum. The food is better than ever, Tim is still the greatest, His Dad Bob and his Mom are the two sweetest hard working elderly folks I have ever met. What a real family atmosphere. ( Don't forget to get Tim to sing you a song). I have met some really sweet people in there. I was going to Socastee Station until Gary shut it down. We were lost and then found the Roost. Better bring a Large appetite. By the way, the draft is perfect temperature and everything is consistent. He makes a real Philly and outstanding overflowing salads. The biggest bang for my buck ever on this Beach. I'm a local

A loud annoying dive! I visisted this place, after passing it by for months! My husband and I eat out a lot, and we try many different places here! We stopped by and were surprised with how small the place was! The tables and chairs are foldable cheap furniture, but we decided to give this place a fair shot! I ordered chicken parm with pasta. My husband ordered lobster raveoli with vodka sauce! Let's just say it was disgusting! We saw the cook pour the vodka sauce from a classico jar! So much for homemade! The chicken parm consisted of 4 premade chicken strips with chunky sauce! I did not eat 1 bite of mine! We paid the "expensive" bill and left! We won't be back! The atmosphere was loud, smokey, and suitable for local drunks!

This place is a disgrace to italian food. The sauce is disgusting. I ordered chicken parm and was served a bowl of almost hard spagetti, with 4 chicken strips, a lump of nasty sauce and mozzarella! The cheese was not even melted. I couldn't even stomach 1 bite, was embarrassesd to complain because the chef/owner Tim is rude and obnoxious! I blamed me not eating on getting full from the salad (which was really good). My husband ordered spagetti and meatballs. His was even worse, the meatballs were still frozen. We ordered delivery pizza from them once, and it was gross too. Really, save your money! This place is a dive, and not worth 1 red cent!

One of the best places I have ate. They have the best Subs & their Pizza is the best. I have trouble deciding on which to get. I think they make their Pizza fresh daily.
