Spuds has closed. This place was doing bad for a long time. There is a new restaurant called Wicked Tuna moving in. If it is the same owners, It will have problems too.

Haven't visited myrtle or this restaurant for 4/5 yrs - was exceptional then and although the menu had fewer fresh fish offerings our meals were delicious. The she crab soup was phenomenal - piping hot and expertly laced w/sherry (which is supposed to be added before serving). The crab dip was cheesy and contained a perfect amount of crab to artichoke. My husband opted for filet that arrived perfectly cooked beautiful potato and a very healthy serving of steamed veggies. The highlight of our visit was the grilled pork w/bleu cheese balsamic reduction. The chef that created this lovely balance of flavors is hiding his light under a basket! (and it was his creation, I asked our server) the pork was succulent, asparagus was abundant and perfectly grilled, w/a ring of roasted potatoes that soaked up any excess sauce. An addition of toasted pecans sprinkled over the pork loin complemented the sauce as nuts always complement cheeses. This meal seemed more like a bonefish grill, thoroughbred, cagneys type offering(so sorry cagneys is closing) and should be a menu standard as an option to steak, chicken, tuna and shrimp.

Mixed results here. Ate outside under canopy. View is excellent, noise level is generally excellent with live music from nearby restaurants on the boardwalk providing great entertainment without blowing out your eardrums. But lowered ratings on atmosphere and noise for couple who brought DOGS to dinner. I love dogs but please, at a dinner restaurant the barking is annoying. Leave them home for 90 minutes. Also woman at table next to us kept walking around in front of our view of the creek. Hostess and bartender were attentive and friendly. Waiter was friendly BUT waited 15 minutes before even taking our drink order; never told us about the specials, and brought 3 waters when we asked for water for whole table of 4. Told us to validate parking with hostess, who had gone so we waited 10 minutes until another patron told us to see the bartender. Table next to us sat down well after we did but was served before us (by another waitress). Food was mixed - broiled seafood sampler was bland without any sauces. Shrimp and grits and Spuds Bowl were great, very flavorful options, tuna steak was slightly above average. Would have preferred Grouper special, but oh yes, we didn't know about that until we walked out and saw the specials board while we were waiting for the parking validation. All in not a satisfying dining experience. Your results may differ on a different night with a different waiter.

8/16/12 This place has the worst customer service , no outside seating according to the hostess , ok we sat in , had a new trainee waitress whom was nice but was not shadowed by a experienced server, they were not busy , drinks ordered 3 sweet teas she brought regular tea order appetizer an unknown server brought their to the table no silverware or napkins, drink glasses empty had to ask for silverware and a refill, main course came out luke warm at best and two of four orders were wrong , had a discussion with the manager whom had no people skills at all and after hearing all the issues that were wrong , did not apologize for the failed attempt at providing a great meal, simple said I will take care of it and walked away , ya he took care of it NOT! He did comp 2 items NOT good enough , in this line of work you comp the whole table, chalk it up as experience ! That place will never see me or my family or friends ever again!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in MB. I have been here several times but this last visit on Friday July 27th was nothing like I am use to. The she crab soup came out cold with lumps of flour in it , the crab cake had more filler then crab meat and my very favorite shrimp and grits while usually enough to feed two with some left over was barely enough to feed just one. If this had been my first time at the place I can assure you that I would not return but since I have been here may times I am hoping that the cook was just having a really bad day.

One of the best meals I have ever had in the Myrtle Beach area in tens years. It was one of the chefs specialsd for the night and I was amazed at how good it was. The young waitress was a college student from NC and was also wonderful. Sitting out on the open deck sealed the deal. We will be back every year from now on !!!

My husband and I just ate at Spud's...and everything was wonderful....we were seated immediately upon entering the door, at a tall table in the bar area next to a window that had a perfect view of the inlet and the lighted walkway. A young man was our waiter, he was tending bar...and also waiting tables in the bar..he was happy, nice and very accommodating to my special diet needs. He was quick and as nice as he could be, a genuinely nice young man. The food was delicious, so our hats are off to the chef...It was noisy due to lots of people drinking while dining...but that's what happens...when you eat in the bar area....so it was fine..Over all, we had a great time, one of our best dining experiences all week... ;-)

I love Spuds ... sitting on the breezy, covered deck, looking at the inlet activity ... all peaceful and serene. Spuds isn't a gourmet restaurant, but they do what they do very well. Fried fish baskets, hush puppies, salads, burgers, all well above average. If you have a problem, they'll gladly remedy it. I am local, and love to take guests there because of the ambience. One of my favorites!

Our family of five dined at Spud's this evening and had a wonderful meal and great experience. The Tuna Tartare was a great appetizer. Our meal was very relaxed sitting on the waterfront deck and the service was excellent. We arrived around six and was promptly seated at our choice of inside or outside, was greeted by our waitress and quickly served. The experience from beverages, yummy entrees, to out-of-this-world desserts was excellect. We will return again!

We ate at Spuds for the first time last Saturday night. Our waitress, Sarah, was great! She recommended the grouper special and it was wonderful! We sat out on the deck overlooking the inlet. Very beautiful night! If you are searching for an extraordinary restaurant...check out Spuds!! We are now locals to the area and will be frequent customers! We also finished off the meal with their delicious key-lime pie. It was to die for!! Spuds is very reasonable for the quality and service. We also enjoyed the Tiki Bar and band after our meal.

We went there for the first time and enjoyed our overall experience. The service was good, atmosphere phenomonal, food was very tasty. We ordered littleneck clams, oysters on the half shell, and the fish taco. Finished off with their unique Key Lime pie. In addition we had a few drinks and our bill was still relatively inexpensive. We loved that it was overlooking the water-will definitely return on our next visit-we are from Ontario. .

Went to Spud's on our day off today because we had a "two for one" coupon, and it looked like a great place to eat despite mixed reviews. Should have paid attention to the negative reviews, because we were thoroughly disappointed. Both ordered the fried seafood platter - mine with shrimp and oysters, my wife's with scallops and oysters. The shrimp were cooked about 15 minutes too long - very hard and dry. The oysters were just short of being burned to a crisp - the scallops were the only things palatable. No choice on the sides - mashed potatoes and string bean casserole. Mashed potatoes were barely warm - the strings beans were crunchy (hardly cooked) and almost completely cold. What happened to fries and cole slaw?. Even with our "two for one" deal it was still not worth it.We are locals and would never think of going back or recommending it to anyone.

Four of us decided to try this place as we are locals. We were seated outside on the deck immediately, I guess this was because there were only about 7 other people in the place at dinner time. We were seated at a very nice pollen covered table and given menus. That was the last we saw of any of their employees. After 15 minutes we got up and left. As we are business professionals that live and work in the area we can't wait to spread the word to family, friends, and clients about this wonderful experience. We now know why there were only 7 people in the restaurant. If you're planning to go there you better hurry up 'cause it shouldn't be in business too much longer.

We chose the restaurant because the other places nearby were quite busy. This place was not. That should have been a warning to us. Wilted salads w/ sour dressing. The food was either frozen or from a can or BOTH! Not sure. The place is called Spuds and the potatoes are instant. Our server did not provide refills on drinks or clear dirty dishes. Very highly priced. Not worth it. Skip this place!

We visited Spud's last summer, and had a great time. We were looking for a repeat performance, but were left disappointed. I can't say I wasn't warned. I had read the reviews on several sites, and our son, a local, told us that all was no longer well with Spud's. Alas, we had to see for ourselves. Lured by the great view, we found it to be the only decent part of our experience. First we ordered Mojitos, which were excellent last year. Our server told us someone had forgotten to order the mint, so Mojitos were not available. She also neglected to announce the specials until we asked. We found spider webs along the railings next to our table, and our grandaughters were freaked out by the bugs. When ordering, we were told that someone in the kitchen had forgotten to make the baked potatoes, so they wouldn't be ready until later. There were no coasters on the table, so the whole surface was soaked from sweating bottles and glasses. No salt and pepper shakers were on the table, and the server forgot to bring our daughter's salad dressing. This wasn't a very enjoyable experience, and to top it off there were several misspelled words on the menu. I find this to be inexcusable, and a pet peeve of mine. Never again Spud!

I know this restaurant has struggled in the past but it appears they have a new chef in and he's doing a fairly good job. The service is still suffering horribly. Such a shame too cause bad service can leave you with an overall bad impression of the restaurant. Our table had two seafood platters (one broiled, one fried) a shrimp and grits and the seafood primavera. The seafood platters were good, the seafood primavera was exceptional, the shrimp and grits were good, a little salty but good. Our salads had the raspberry vinegarette - it was the consitancy of grenadine - way to thick to be a vegarette. The service---we had to ask for water - My husband ordered tea after his cocktail and had to ask twice, no beverages were ever refilled, we were served our salads and one minute later here come the entrees (I hate that), he never checked back to see if all was ok, to refill glasses - nothing. AND it was not that busy. we had to summon him to get the check. I left thirsty! The view, the tiki bar - all very very nice. Good service would bring this place up a notch!

As we were eating, the lights came on outside and we got to watch the sunset over the inlet! It was so nice! I had the best Shrimp & Grits that I have ever had!!! After dinner, we walked down the peer (it's part of the Marsh Walk) and just listened to the music, watching people playing cornhole! I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!!

Took ours names off of another restruant waiting list, FIRST mistake. We went there to eat because they could seat us quickly, should have been a hint. We went in to eat, after looking at the menu outside and deciding what we wanted, we go to our seat and sit down to find that the meu that the we looked at outside the restraunt was the supposedly old menu...... after figuring that out and getting to order what we wanted, they brought our food out and when I cut my steak, it was RAW.... I oreder it medium.... well, we got the manager and all he wanted to do was ROLL his eyes and act as if he did not care. He offered to take the same steak that I just had and put it back on the grill, but when I did not want the same steak that I already had in my mouth back on the grille, they did not offer any further.. They let me sit there with my family while they ate and sit there with NOTHING to eat and did not care one time..................................... WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS TO ANYONE.........THEY SUCK

My family and I celebrated my daughters wedding at Spuds. The portions where large but a bit on the pricey side. although I ordered a twelve ounce rib eye, the restaurant is an outstanding seafood place. The restaurant gives several preparation options for as many types of fish. I only wish there where more beef choices on the menu The service was really great, our party of ten adults, and six small children where very well cared for. We had reservations and as busy as the place was at 9p.m. I suggest you reserve seating also

A local's point of view: Go early; walk the (Marsh) Walk; come back. Reading the comments, it is obvious the problem is the rotating chefs you find in most resort areas. Have a cold beer and some wings at happy hour, enjoying the unmatched view from the deck. Watch the fishing boats come in. Then, during rush hour, take a leisurely stroll along the Marshwalk. Come back for entertainment at the Tiki Bar, after 10:00, in season. College age kids enjoy The Josh Brannon Band and such. This is the hotspot for the regional waitstaff after work.

I wouldn't have written a review if I hadn't seen the bad reviews below. I don't know if they had a management change or what happened, but us 4 golfers had our best night at Spuds. We go there around 8pm and had some drinks. Got turned onto Jerimiah Weed by the Weed Girls. Wow! They were amazing. Anyways, it's not the weed you're thinking. It's a iced tea flavored vodka. Lots of ice in a glass with some weed, water and a slice of lemon and I've got a new favorite dring. The atmosphere on the deck was awesome. Fran was both georgeous and attentive. The food was well above average (especially the conch fritters). And just to put the cherry on top, a band came on and was unbelievable. Overall, at great night that I want to relive over and over again. Oh, BTW. If you are a guy, you want to be here after 10 - 11 pm. The scenery gets really really good.

My sister and I went for happy hour and had the best time. The 1/2 price appetizers were so yummy! We had the carribean shrimp cocktail A+++, the conch fritters, little neck clams in a white wine and garlic sauce with bread to sop up all the goodness. All were so very good. Our waiter Tyler was excellent! He made us a great cocktail of Malibu Rum, Peach Schnapps with Cranberry & Pineapple juices = Tropical Fun!!! tyler was a great server and even took pictures for us out on the deck. We really enjoyed everything. :)

Spud's has the best view in the inlet but we were weary about the menu due to an experience two years ago. That being said, the food was great, sea bass parmesan was cooked perfectly. The service was good but the atmosphere makes this place a must see. The only elevated view of the inlet was complemented by our meals. My wife had the shrimp and grits and it too was great. Highly recommened from a seafood veteran.

This place should be called "Cruds" instead of Spuds Wow, where to begin. Well, we were seated right away by a waitress who looked and acted as if she couldn't care less. We sat on the patio which had an awesome view. My wife ordered a drink and the waitress took the drink menu from her hand and asked "if that drink is even on there". Finally she found it and put in our drink order. The she crab soup was excellent, and thats where the meal went downhill, even though the soup was good, the rest was SOOO bad i can't even bring the rating to a 2. I ordered scallops and flounder broiled and fries well done, My wife ordered the chicken sandwich, fries well done. the waitress repeated "well done? well i'll put it in and see what they do" in a VERY sarcastic tone. When the food came out my fish and scallops looked like they were BOILED (instead of BROILED) and my french fries cooked in a microwave (nasty and soggy) I asked for some drawn butter for the scallops and the waitress told me the kitchen didn't have any melted butter (are you kidding????) I asked her to please ask them nicely to melt some for me, she said she'd try. When she left I discovered my flounder was raw in the middle and sent it back asking for them to put it right next to the heat and brown it a little. The wifes chicken sandwich was terrible, too much bread and no taste to the chicken. It came back the exact same way. When I told the manager it was the worst flounder i'd ever had (very very nicely) she offered to remove it. When she came back with the amended check she removed $6.00 (the meal was $11.00) Talk about really terrible customer service and INCREDIBLY AWFUL FOOD.

I was leary to go here because of the bad reviews on this site as well as others...but I gave it a try anyway. I made the right decision.

The view was INCREDIBLE!!! The food was FAB! Highly suggest the crab balls as an appetizer!

Because we were going on a Friday, I thought we should go early to avoid a crowd or line. We had neither at 4:30. We basically had the entire deck to ourselves.

It was a wonderful evening with a wonderful meal!

HORRIFIC!!!! Unless you enjoy bland food with VERY poor management do NOT go to Spud's. My wife and sister ordered the grilled Mahi-Mahi and it had no flavor. My dish was fried shrimp and was ok (c'mon, it's fried shrimp). My brother-in-law had blackened fish (can't remember which one) and it was also bland. After the meal, we decided to discuss it with the manager and she did not care at all. My brother stated that we noticed a lot of plates going back with lots of food left on them. Her excuse was that they serve large portions. Places like this do not rely on repeat customers. Don't get me wrong the atmosphere was phenomenal being on the water next to the marsh walk. The establishment was very nice as well. BUT... The manager also did not offer to re-compensate on anything ( we didn't request it because we wanted her to know our sincerity of the complaint).

Went to Spud's last night for my wife's birthday dinner. Bad choice (again) as we ate at Spud's last year when my parents were in town. Both times were mediocre at best and last night we were all served COLD to FROZEN vegetables! The crabcakes I ordered were alright, nothing special. The wife's coconut shrimp were too few to share and the prices were way too high for the portions. Won't be going back there until they slash their prices to match the quality and quantity of food they serve. Not to mention, the place was dead, you'd think they'd pay closer attention to the food they prepare. We really like the outside bar area though and will continue to hang out there, but definitely won't make the trip up to the restaurant.

04-25-09; My husband and I ate at Spud's on a Saturday evening, before 5pm. We were had no problem finding a seat, and we sat outside on the deck to watch the boats coming and going. We did notice as it got closer to 5, there were more and more people arriving, so I would advise getting there early if you don't want to wait. I had the blackened grouper and it was perfect, served with green beans, rice, and a salsa side. My husband had the tuna, and it was also perfect. We enjoyed the experience altogether.

We were the only ones there for obvious reasons. I asked about the crab cakes and I was told the cook is from Maryland and they are Maryland style. The waiter actually pointed out the cook. He was the only other person there and he was seated at the bar playing video games. It was like something out of a twilight zone epiode. The food was horrifically bad and not once did the "chef" leave his video game during our entire visit. Who cooked the food we wondered? I hope this place goes out of business so other people wont make the mistake we made. It is the worst place I have ever eaten in. Waffle house is better! Go to Landrys for seafood.

I agree with the other post which said that the best part of this restaurant is the bathroom decor. It's unfortunate this restaurant exists on the inlet, or even exists at all. They must have children working in the kitchen from what they offer on the menu. The menu is creative enough to offer "salt and pepper fish" or "blackened fish". I ordered the steak and my friend ordered Spud's platter. The steak was poor quality and the cut was awful. The side dishes offered were comparable to Steak and Shake. In a blind taste test I guarantee Red Lobster would beat Spud's every single time. I never thought I'd ever look postively at Red Lobster, and I hold Spud's accountable for that. The Spud's platter reminded me of something force fed to the elderly, as it had no flavor was soggy and was blander than the chair i was sitting on. The staff did not take their job seriously, were obviously poorly trained, and were hanging out joking with eachother in the kitchen or host stand while our drinks were left empty and dirty plates cluttered the table. What a huge dissapointment, but then again with a name like Spud's you'd expect the highlight to be the baked potatoes.

First visit was a week ago on a Saturday evening and everything was excellent! both food and service. Went for the 2nd visit last night (Sunday). Veggies that came with my steak was cold, steak was over-cooked and tough(the 1st visit, it was perfect), Also, did not get the complimentary hush puppies that we had on the 1st visit. The waiter was going to bring us some and never did. So, if last night had been our FIRST visit, I wouldn't have went back. The sweet tea was excellent.Beautiful scenic view to look at while eating. The staff was friendly.

Take into consideration that we were here for lunch. Our party of 8 was seated by Seth, Spud himself, immediately on entering the establishment. We sat on the Sun Deck overlooking the Inlet and the Marina. The Grouper Sandwhich and Buffallo Chicken Wrap were incredible. The younger people in the group seemed very pleased with their burgers. I would definately come back to Spud's.

Worst restaurant I have ever been to. Waited an hour to be seated, which is fine and I expected. But to wait over an hour for our food!!! All the tables around us that were seated after us had their food, while we just waited. We ordered seared sea bass and seafood pasta. The manager tried to tell me that the food took so long because searing takes longer than frying the fish. Is she kidding me? It doesn't take an hour to sear a fish. The manager was rude and didn't care that we were unhappy. When the meal did show up, we ate 2 bites. Pasta was bland, sea bass was cold and dry. Returned it to the kitchen. They were so nice to discount our food 10%. What a crock! The manager couldn't even offer up an apology. An apology can get you far, rudness can not. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

You know you are in trouble when the hostess is eating take out chinese. That should have been our first clue but we ate there any way. Our server shouted to us from behind the bar to ask if we wanted another beer but she had just served us one a minute ago. The atmosphere inside was tacky. The menu was Very limited (all frozen and prepackaged food, nothing homemade). And the food was terrible. My husband had the seafood platter and it was just OK. I had the hamburger and it was so salty I couldn't eat it. When we got the bill from our lazy waitress we thought the price was cheap but realized our drinks weren't on the bill. Thanks for the free beers but all the free beer in the world won't bring us back to this frozen to deep fryer dive. I'd rather go dumpster diving than eat at Spuds again. I WON'T RECCOMEND THIS PLACE! But I will tell all of our friends about our experience.

We had the fried calamari for an appetizer and it was great ! my husband, our son and I ordered the spud's fried platter and it was delicious ! it wasn't greasy at all and had great flavor. It came with garlic mashed potatoes and cole slaw. Just yummy ! our little girl had the kid's grilled cheese and she ate almost the whole thing. That's amazing ! heather was our server and she was fantastic ! she was right there after we were seated, kept our drinks filled. She didn't 'hover' but it didn't seem like she forgot about us either. She was almost perfect ! the restaurant was clean .. The only thing that bothered me ..... The palmetto bugs crawling around (two of them) on the floor, but I guess that is part of the outside dining in the south. It wasn't a big deal, just something i'm not used to. Our bill was $90. That wasn't bad, I don't think, for food so yummy. My husband had a corona and it was $3.00 .. Which is cheap for a restaurant bottle of beer. We went on a saturday night about 8:30 and waited 6 minutes to be seated ... And heather was right there. The restaurant itself was fine ... There was a twelve top next to us and they were ungodly loud .. Not the restaurant's fault..

Seafood platter for $10.99 had 5 shrimp and 5 scallops that were cool, rubbery and no where near fresh. kids hamburgers were ok. this place should be closed down. Try Bovines or Davines. Both are excellent but were unfortunately not opened for lunch on Thursdays!!

A wonderful experience. We stay at Litchfield often and have our local favorite's (Nance's, Frank's, etc), but we're happy to have branched out here and will definitely return.

My wife and I sat outside during a rather slow lunch hour, so we had the waiter to ourselves. He was friendly, knowledgable, personable but not overly chatty. The view of the inlet was wonderful, although the birds, to no fault of the restaurant's, can be a bit pushy if you're on the porch.

My wife started with the She Crab Soup which was delicious, but the waiter surprised me a cup of "Pumpkin Bisque" gratis. He said it was a recipe the chef was trying and wanted opinions on, and it was amazing! Imagine warm liquid pumpkin pie; on a chilly October afternoon with the inlet breeze it hit the spot.

We both had the seafood platter as an entree and were quite happy. The portions were generous, although not overwhelming like some other restaurants. The fried scallops and shrimp were crisp on the outside, flavorful inside, and not too greasy.

I don't know how the experience would change being inside the restaurant on a busy evening during peak season, but everything for us was exactly what you want in a restaurant. Find a warm weekday afternoon at a point when the crowds aren't around, sit on the deck, and enjoy a relaxed, delicious meal.

As a yearly visitor to the beach, my family and I choose several restaurants to patron each year and what a difference a year made for Spud's! The food was excellent; so much so that I inquired about the chef and was told a new head chef had changed the menu. The grouper was great and my wife's seafood pasta was very well prepared. The view has always been the best in Murrells Inlet but now the food matches the scenery. We will be back next year.

The She Crab Soup was wonderfaul and so was the New England Clam Chowder. I order the seafood platter, flounder and scallops, grilled. They were excellent. My wife got the crab balls off the appetizer menu and she also loved them. We will go back again when we visit Myrtle Beach again this summer. The scenery can't be beat...

My wife and I ate at Spuds this weekend, I ordered the blackened Grouper, and she ordered the fried basket. I suspect the grouper was the asian catfish, and not grouper at all. And as opposed to using a cast iron pan to blacken, They felt as though oil and Cajun seasoning meant the same thing. My wife's food was bland, But what bothered me the most, Was the deviled crab on her plate was made with KRAB, FAKE crab!! On the inlet? Give me a break!!! George the waiter, was a bit odd, but not really as bad as one of the above reviewers felt. I think the restaurant needs a decent chef. Or someone that can add quality foods to the best view on the inlet.

We vacation at Myrtle in July 07, and ate here one night. Its ok. Nothing to really look foward to going back. I thought the tables were very crowed together, the food was ok (had better), the price are a little high for the food, do have to say the hushpuppies were GOOD though. Especially will the honey butter. Going to Myrtle again this summer but I don't think we will be stopping in to eat here. Will try another seafood restaurant.

Why would someone own a restaurant in a great location like this with great atmosphere and not serve good food or even try to make it better?? I would love to take family and out-of-town visitors to Spud's but the food and service are so bad, I'll forego the atmosphere and take them elsewhere. This place could be the best spot around if they improved the food and service and hired some good entertainment!

I'm surprised that this place is still open. I live in Murrells Inlet and I took 3 clients to this place when they first opened. My daughter worked there for about a month and quit. I won't go into her personal reasons for quitting but she did tell me that she didn't think this place would survive.

The food is average or less. Our waitstaff also advised not buying the crab because I'm sure they get lots of complaints about it not having enough crab. I thought it was overpriced. I'm local and I don't go there and wouldn't refer it except for hanging out and drinking beer and drinks in the bar and the deck with weather permitting. It has been a fun bar atmosphere, just don't go for the food. You should eat first somewhere else!

I have to agree with the negative reviews here. It's a shame because this is a beautiful restaurant in a wonderful location. The tables are all bar high or we weren't given a choice so I felt uncomfortable seated so high. Spuds's needs to hire a capable cook. The food tasted as though it had been done in a microwave. The house salad was boring iceberg lettuce. I had the flounder and my husband had the crab cake. Both were seriously undercooked. My husband's crab cake was a meaty one but it seemed frozen in the middle. Our waitress didn't return until it came time to deliver the check or we would have complained. Our second drink order which was made at the time the food was delivered was never served. Being called Spud's, I though they might serve a decent baked potato but it also tasted days old.

I was on business in Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago and had the pleasure and joy of finding this gem of a restaurant. The view is incredible and the food was wonderful. I had a grilled trout with a hollandaise sauce that was phenominal! The sides of smashed potatoes and baby carrots was also VERY good. My meal was acoompanied by a surprisingly very good Pino Noir. In my past experiences, it is difficult to find a good wine at most casual restaurants. I would rate this restaurant superior in all areas. The wait staff was very attentive and it was a true dining pleasure.

Where do I begin? I'll end with one of the worst meals I've had in 6 mos. We ordered the fried seafood platter; my husband had the broiled platter.

I should have known when I looked at my plate that I was in for big trouble. The oysters were the size of quarters; previously frozen and reheated, I'm sure...ditto for the scallops. Even the garlic mashed potatoes were "brown in color"..what is that? The cole slaw was fine. His broiled platter was the worst ever. His piece of flounder looked and tasted like a gauze pad! He ordered sauteed mushrooms as a side...right out of can and dark brown! His honey glazed carrots were soggy...like 2 nights ago prepared.

The waiter (George) didn't even ask us once if our meal was o.k.? He knew we'd hated it and didn't want to hear about it. Also, what's with him sitting down at our table to chat and take our order? Hello? Are you family???

I thinks it's a tourist trap with a nice view... but a shame that being on the ocean, you can't get "fresh" seafood.. only previously frozen.

Shame on Spuds's...just ride by and go to Nance's or Bovine's or anyplace there have a parking lot full of cars. There's the key.

Food was awful, crab cakes were all filling no crab. Tuna was cold. Service was poor. The chef(s) could have done better by serving one or smaller sized crab cakes with more crab and less filling. Better crab cakes can be obtained from Publix or Bi-Lo. The tuna, though pan seared, should have been warm in the middle and not ice cold. Waitress could have cared less. Won't be back.

Food was awful. It looked good but the pan seared tuna was cold inside (I know it's supposed to be red inside but not cold despite what the waitress said when we complained). The crab cakes looked great, were huge but were mostly stuffing and not crab. I've had better crab cakes from Publix or Bi-Lo supermarkets. The chef would have been better served to reduce the size of the cakes or just made one and increased the amount of crab meat and reduced the filler. Big isn't always better. My husband had the fisherman's platter and he ate it but didn't say it was good or bad, probably just average. The only good thing was the potatoes. Won't return.

We all three ordered the seafood platter, with shrimp and flounder, the shrimp was overcooked and curled, the cole slaw was good, the flounder was not as good as even at Red Lobster. We will not eat here again. I guess you are paying for the view, which is very nice.

Some of my family from several areas of NC came to North Myrtle Beach for vacation. They had not vacationed together in a very long time. There was a great lineup for entertainment on the marshwalk in Murrell's Inlet, so we decided to head down to get a bite to eat and enjoy the evening on the beautiful waterfront. Being local, we heard many radio commercials about Spud's and decided to eat there since we did not have reservations for a party of 11. We should have known it was a bad sign when we could be seated immediately outside on the deck overlooking the waterway. Almost everyone ordered something different.....from the crab dip to the seafood combo. The waitress was accommodating. When we asked about the crab cake, she did say it was hit or miss.......either you like it or you don't since it did have alot of filler. A couple of us decided to order it anyway. It was mediocre at best.....comments were made that it was not the best, but not the worst they'd ever had. We did ask the waitress about the crab dip and she said it was good. When it came out......the best way I know to describe it is that it looked like it had previously been eaten.......served in a bread bowl running out everywhere. There was no sign of crab meat; if there was any, it was so chopped up you could not taste it.....it was horrible! There were 2 baskets on the noted on the menu together; shrimp or grouper basket. One of each was ordered. The shrimp basket came out with fries; the grouper basket did not. When we asked the waitress, she said the grouper basket did not come with fries. When I "fussed" about it, she did bring some.......that was the only "saving grace" of the meal since my boyfriend and I ordered the crab dip and grouper basket to share. The grouper fingers tasted like something you would get out of the frozen food section of the grocery store......no, wait......they were worse than that! The only item ordered from the menu that got a decent rating was some "jerked" flavored fish. Several said the only thing that was really good was the bottled beer......and we actually had problems getting what we wanted.....several wanted the new Miller Chill. The waitress said she thought they had it, but after several times going back and forth, they did not have it. It's a real shame the food is so bad since the location and atmosphere are so great! It's also a real shame since there are so many good restaurants in Murrell's Inlet; over half of the people in our party (family and local) had not had the Murrell's Inlet experience and it's sad to say, the dining experience literally left a bad taste in our mouths. Of the 11 people eating, 5 live locally. We love to try different restaurants since we have so many. We have a saying once we've tried them and do not like the food......been there, done that, check it off the list......and this one is certainly checked off the list. Waitress was good........atmosphere is great.........food is terrible!

When we seated at our table it took 10 min. for our server to arrive. By the time she arrive we knew what we were going to order. By the way this is our first time in this restaurant. As for the food the shrimp was tough. The shrimp was not even breaded just thrown into oil to cook. As for going back to the restaurant I don't think so.

Spud's is spectacular! Breath taking sunset. Inside Bar is large with wide selection drink menu. Sandy tiki bar area to sit back relax and enjoy a cold one & cool stage area for bands & plenty of dancing. Friendly service. Atmosphere is out of this world. Cool Crazy Sister Marina next door with cute gift shop & T-shirts. Don't forget to check out the Crazy Sister located on the back deck above the doors. Be sure to ask the for the Crazy Sister Ledge Story.

My wife, daughter and I had dinner at Spuds. The view of the marsh and the boats was beautiful. The food was a real disappointment. The ladies had Broiled Flounder and Scallops. They ended up with bland food that looked like it had been boiled for all the water around the fish on their plates. Normally the broiing process creates a carmelization on the food. Their fish was pure white. One of them got the sauteed mushrooms as a side dish. The mushrooms were canned and were only partially heated. My blackened Grouper was not pan seared blackened as much as just coated with a spice. All the pieces of fish were very thin. There are too many restaurants in Murrells Inlet to bother with Spuds. The dinner prices are $17.00 and up. For that money you should get a decent fish dinner, but not at Spuds.

We visited on Saturday, June 16, 2007 for dinner. Although the view is very nice, the food is not. The server was friendly but had room for improvement. My husband asked about the grits as a side order and the server told him she had no idea what was in the grits as she had never tried them. We were hoping that she'd find out but she never did. The bisque tasted like it was out of a can and the sauteed mushrooms surely were out of a can. The shrimp and scallops did not taste fresh (and we were right on the water where fishing boats come in!). My husband's crabcakes looked and tasted like something you can buy in the frozen section of any grocery store. Our 5-year-old son said he loved his grilled cheese which is great. My complaint about the kids' meals are that they cost $6 each. I believe that's the most we've spent yet for a kids' meal. Then again, all of our meals were overpriced for what we received. My in-laws who dined with us that evening visit Myrtle Beach frequently and they stated that they would only return to Spud's for drinks and the view. This was only my 2nd visit to the area and I was very disappointed that one of my dining experiences was spent at Spud's.

Restaurant has improved since opening but just dont get wasting that beautiful view and location by playing urban rock music. You look out and think you should be hearing Jimmy Buffett, beach music ,steel drums, etc. Cut the MTV off and show people fishing, or sports events. Music sure could mellow the place out. It would also help if they had some reasonably priced bar food. You give people a little to eat and the right atmosphere, you can make your money on the cold drinks. We would go back, but only daytime outside away from the music now playing.

We stopped here for lunch on our way into Myrtle Beach. We liked it so well that we came back for dinner a couple days later. Both meals were very good. The portions were generous, the service good, the atmosphere great. This time of year is not peak season and that may have contributed to our not having to wait to be seated. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

My family and I were in Murrels inlet on a Friday night and forgot to make reservations. We thought we were in luck when we found Spud's, not only was there no wait but we practically had the restaurant all to ourselves! The menu consisted of fried fish and....well broiled fish. The server was very friendly and explained that the special was a salt and pepper grilled grouper. I am not sure if this is a southern dish, but He was also very honest in warding my wife away from the crab cakes, which she explained many customers do not like as they have better crab cakes at the local grocery store! My family and I still enjoyed ourselves despite the food. The view was very nice from the deck. However we will not return there are too many great restaurants in Murrels Inlet. Next time I will make reservations!!!

I ordered a martini and it took 30 minutes to get it and it came out with no garnish. My son ordered fried shrimp and there were six on his plate. Grouper was overcooked. Portions too small and food was cold. Great view, too bad about the quality of the food. Would only go back for drinks and the view.

Great potential, beautiful restaurant, great service, bad food. Food is very bland, and uncreative. The menu ranges from fried fish to a potato covered mahi, which turned out to be a filet covered with a greasy hashbrown. The appetizer and desert werent any better. The appetizer, a crab dip, tasted like a mixture of cream and cheese. There wasnt a hint of crab taste or meat. Murrells inlet has many wonerful restaurants, unfortunately this one is run without an executive chef and it shows.

Most of our party of nine (six adults) ordered a combination of flounder with shrimp or scallops. While the quality of what we got varied, the quantity of food for the price was pathetic. The flounder was no thicker than two quarters stacked together and no larger than the palm of my hand. One piece was all each person recieved. I got five scallops and the shrimp eaters all got five shrimp. My wife's potato was cold. The kids meals were ok but the shrimp was fried tough.

This restaurant has great atmosphere, great service and a super location. However, for $16.95 for our entrees, we will not return.
