We are planning a trip next weekend and I was so sad that they havent opened for the season yet. :( This is my MOST favorite resturant at the beach! The food tastes like my Momma cooked it! We vacation in Surfside every year and we cant pass this place up. I have read some of the neg. reviews and most of them recommend other places. Those neg reviews have to be coming from the owner's of those other places, because we have NEVER had an issue here. I work hard for my money, but this place is def worth it! We just got back from dinner at Southern Suppers in Murrells Inlet/Garden City. I can't believe I live 3 miles from this place and never stopped before. Best food served on a buffet in the whole Grand Strand area in my opinion and I've been to quite a few. Fresh tasting, nicely prepared, hot, and always full on the buffet. Great quiet atmosphere and country decorated theme adds to the pleasure of eating here. Our waitress could have been a little more attentive to us but she may have had a bad night as all the others were just the opposite. Best shrimp creole and fried chicken, Mac and cheese to die for, and a good selection for the non-seafood member of our party....we will be back quite often since it's so close to home and now I know another liitle secret place on the south strand. Sorry Craby Mikes, Benjamins, Captain George and the rest of the buffets in town, I found my favorite!!!!! ref: 23212 ![]() |

Southern Suppers has long been a tradition for our family. Friends introduced us to Southern Suppers over 30 years ago. Yes, we even remember Sherry's picture being on the advertising brochure/menu. We were repeat customers at the one in Myrtle beach for years until its closing. We have told many friends and family members about Southern Suppers. All have thanked us. As for our most recent visits, let me just say, what a wonderful waitress you have in Ms. Kelly A. Her beautiful smile and personality made us feel right at home. The service we received was above and beyond. We always enjoy seeing June and the rest of our friends at Southern Suppers. We were sorry to hear about Mr. John's passing last year, but we know that as long as Sherry is running the show that Southern Suppers will still give their customers the highest quality of food and service the way Mr. John would have himself. The people that work at Southern Suppers are what makes this restaurant a success. Without them, it would just be another seafood place at the beach. Thanks for another great meal! Quality of food: Tasted as if it came out of a can. Almost as bad as military MRE's.
Level of service: For a buffet, with people going back to get more plates, you would think they would come clear off the table every once in a while.
Value: For MRE style food I would not expect to pay thirty dollars a plate.
The children age ranges need to be adjusted to actually reflect how much a child will eat. Also, if crab legs are going to be an additional cost of $10.00, which it would take a lot of legs to get any kind of value out of, they shouldn't be out with the main buffet. ref: 22986 ![]() |

After skipping Southern Suppers the last few years since they relocated to Garden City, my wife and I decided to return last week on on Wednesday, 6/24. We are very glad we did. I found the quality of food to be outstanding and the price less expensive than some of the other buffets. You should note that Southern Suppers has ham rather than prime rib on their buffet, so keep this in mind when making your decision on where to eat. Your desire for crab legs is also an issue. The price does not include crab legs - they are $$$ more. I feel Southern Suppers was every bit as good, and we walked right in and were seated with no wait. Even though tourism is definitely down in MB, Crabby Mike's had a significant wait to get seated. I strongly suggest giving Southern Suppers a chance. ref: 15802 ![]() |

We were so disappointed by Southern Suppers after reading the good reviews. The buffet was $20 per person (not including drinks), and the waitress told the couple behind us that the prices were higher in the summer (to get more out of the tourists I suppose). I'm willing to pay 15-17 dollars at other buffets because the food and service are so good. At SS, the prime rib was overcooked, the "raw bar" crab was like rubber, and the fried shrimp were soggy. What filled me up was the cornbread, which I admit was delicious. In addition, we waited almost 15 minutes after we were finished for the waitress to bring our check, and that was after she had us stack our own plates on top of other people's plates that she was carrying! Gross! I left feeling incredibly ripped off and wishing I had gone back to The Ghost Ship or Admiral's Flagship. I consider myself easy to please, but if I'm paying that much for my family, I at least expect good food and good service! ref: 11613 ![]() |
