My review is 2 years late, but worth sharing. If you are not going to Captain Georges, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. It is a great family restaurant and my family has this at the top of their restaurant list for our trip in July.

The food is the worse you can eat at a Buffett. It is overpriced for the quality of food. I had them take away my plate (full) because of the disgusting taste. There is very little seafood and they don't tell you until you sit down that the crab legs are extra.

This is one of THE worst buffets I have ever been! Food was not even lukewarm! Looked as if it had been out for awhile. Steak, what steak? I've gotten more in the freezer section at Walmart! Sign makes you think crab legs are onthe buffet, but they are not! Don't waste your money. Go elsewhere, we wish we had!!! "SB"

The waitress and other staff were nice. Pricing was about the same as the usual buffet at the beach. Crab legs were great with good meat in them. Everyone enjoyed the food. Loved the fruit on the salad bar!! We will be back!!

My wife and ate there on 6-19-12. Crab legs were not fresh. Food bar was bland. Got sick 30 minutes later. I over heard the family in the next booth say "Mom's in the restroom, she is really sick.". We will not be eating there again. By the way, the crab legs were $8 above the buffet price.

Quite dissapointed after experiencing this place reading the positive on line reviews. Had the upgraded meal that included crab legs for about $30. Crab legs slightly steamed, sprinkled with Old Bay lightly. Not tasty at all. Buffet food was mediocre. Service was good and friendly employees. Maybe the kitchen folks were having issues. I won't eat here again. Spend your money wiser at Crabby Mike's in Surfside Beach.

I have been to many buffets, but Prestons is by far the best I have ever been to. All the food was fresh and hot with a great selection. The crab legs were brought to the table when you were ready for more, they were hot and delicious. When we visit Myrtle Beach, Prestons will always be where we eat. You will not be disappointed both me and my family highly recommend Prestons. Enjoy!!!

We tried Preston's for the first time since coming to Myrtle Beach. We found the service and greeting to be very good, our server was prompt and courteous despite the challenge of a very large family event in the same room where we were seated. The taste of the food was just average and everything I had (except the chowder) was warm at best. But, the salad bar was very good, and fresh. The biggest disappointment was the crablegs - the "cluster" we purchased had very little meat and was not worth the additional price we paid. When we were done and asked for the tab, we mentioned all of the above and the management gave a genuine listening ear and promised to look into the matter. BD

My husband and I love to vacation at Myrtle Beach. We go there three to four times a year. One of the highlights of our vacation is going to Preston's. We always eat there on our first night in Myrtle Beach and two or three times more during the week of our vacation. I am not a fish eater, but there are so many more things on the buffet that I love, such as barbeque, chicken strips, lima beans, macaroni and cheese, hushpuppies, potato wedges and sweet potatoes. Everything is always delicious and cooked perfectly. My husband is a big fish eater and loves everything on the buffet. He gets the crab legs and raves about the quality and taste of them. The host always lets us sit where ever we want. We get seated immediately. The atmosphere is so peaceful. We know that our vacation is complete whenever we visit Preston's. We are going to Myrtle Beach in September for 10 days, so we have already planned to go there at least three times during the week.

This is the BEST restaurant I've ever been to. I'll simply tell you why. -Delicious food, even for my picky cousin who's 6 or 7 and acts like he's 2. -AMAZING Crab Legs. That's what everyone in this restaurant really wanted. -Great dessert. -It cost about $215 for 11 people to eat, which is about $20 for each person. -Cute waiters. x] Everyone who went was me, my sister, my mom, my grandpa, my grandma, my cousin, my aunt, my uncle, and 3 of their kids. This was probably the best beach trip ever because I got tan and met an amazingggg guy<3

If you are going to spend premium dollars ($26.00 and up) for quality seafood, don't go here. We ate here because it was close to the Alabama theatre and we didn't have a lot of time. The crab legs were rubbery and the meat inside was tough. The chicken they had was dry. Also the amount of items on the menu didn't compare to others in the area. For the best seafood buffet in the North Mrytle Beach area, try Original Benjamins. The selection was over 170 items. Everything was fresh and the food was fantastic. The decor was amazing (and clean!) Skip Prestons.

This was our most favorite place to go get "HOT" NonSoggy CrabLegs. They would bring them to your table Steaming Hot straight from the boiler, BUT NOT ANYMORE. The CrabLegs are on the bar just like anywhere else. The bar itself is o.k. if that's what your wanting, however since they changed over to having the the legs on the bar, Preston's is just like any run-of -the -mill buffet. Sorry Preston's you were are favorite CrabLeg place, but you are history, we won't be back. We were customers for nearly 15yrs, we won't make it 16. GO BACK TO THE OLD WAY OF BRING "FRESH HOT" CRAB LEGS DIRECTLY TO THE CUSTOMER'S TABLE. MAYBE WE'LL RECONSIDER IF YOU CHANGE BACK.

I don't usually pay attention to reviews on buffets because they sometimes seem like some people expect to get Ruth's Chris steak and are disappointed. We are no stranger to buffetts and believe me when I tell you that Preston's buffet is the very defination of foul. The only thing edible was the salad and cold shrimp on the salad bar. All the hot food was atroicious. The crab legs tasted like plastic. Like they were boiled in Tupperware. The spiced shrimp literally disentigrated when we tried to peel them. The salmon was like cardboard and even the mac n cheese was rancid. We kept trying things to find something we could eat. We end up full but in the worst way. For $26 per person, I don't expect Ruth's Chris but I don't expect to have to go back to the room to scrub my tongue. This experience has turned me off buffets for life.

This was my least favorite restaurant I've ever eaten at. The food there was extremely greasy and fried so much that it was difficult to taste what you were eating. I literally couldn't chew the steak that they had because it was so dry. The crab legs i have to admit were good but besides that everything else was disgusting. If you dont mind eating very fatty food that has been deep fried at least 3 times then you may enjoy it but for me it made me sick.

We ate @ Prestons 2 yrs ago and it was the best! We couldn't wait to go back this year but after we got there I wished we had stayed away. The mashed potatoes were disgusting, the rest of the food except for the crab legs and the cookies were not seasoned @ all not even with salt! There were two adults, and one 11 year old and 1, one year old that ate, (very little cuz kids don't like the seafood but the price 4 seafd was included anyway!) And it was almost 90 bucks!!!! Outrageous! The guy that waited on us was practically screaming asking who's w/ what group, what's the ages and so on! I was so disappointed. I had talked it up to family members and they wound up paying 130 bucks for their meal. We won't be back. Crab legs and all that expensive stuff should be optional especially for children!

We are here on our vacation. We were looking for some good food to eat that would please everyone in our family. It was a big mistake going here. At $17.00 a person plus drink. Its not worth $9.99. Besides that our daughter ate chicken fingers and fries still $17.00. I took for ever to find the place. Every place we passed was packed and when we pulled up to Pearsons there was maybe 15 car in the parking lot. I knew then that was i sign but we decided to try it anyways. We are very dissapointed.

We ate at Preston's last week on our trip to Myrtle Beach. We happened in here by accident; another restaurant we planned to visit had a wait time that would have made us late for "The One Show" at nearby Alabama Theatre. We were pleasantly surprised. We had eaten at The Original Benjamin's earlier in the week and the quality of food we had here was much better, although there was not as much variety. The scallops were fried perfectly and were moist and tender. The prime rib, however, was dry and more like regular roast beef. I couldn't find horseradish anywhere, although there was aus jus. Lots of kid friendly items, too. Didn't try the crablegs, due to our time constraints. They are an add-on to your buffet price. As buffets in Myrtle go, this is a very good one.

I will go back again! It is a buffet, not a five star restaurant. Families having a great time increases noise levels. What do you expect? Myrtle Beach is a family beach with NOISE! The food was more than acceptable and the price was lower than restaurants on restaurant row! I have been to all the seafood buffets on restaurant row over the past decades and none have anything over Preston's except price! Try the experience: one man's trash is another man's treasure!

I read all the other posts here and I found that the food was very good, but not sure that the price is best for everyone unless you like a large variety. There is no doubt that there was plenty of food to chose from. I and another person ate all of the steamed oysters we could eat, so the price was not so bad for what we got. Everyone else enjoyed their food.

We already have our reservations for the beginning of June and Prestons is already in our itinerary....

My wife and I had heard many good reviews on Preston's, but you never know. For the first time in my life of 55 years, I was not home for the holidays, so we planned to try Preston's on Thanksgiving Day. We weren't disappointed! An on site carver served up slices of turkey and ham, while the food bar had dressing, gravy, green beans, mashed potatoes, as well as seafood and other offerings, such as chicken leg quarters, fried shrimp, deviled crab, fish, and a sweet potato crisp dessert that was out of this human world. Oh Henry...you would not believe! More food than that was available, along with baked goods and desserts...yep, the pumpkin and sweet potato pies were there! Such a nice, old time decor, clean and orderly. Though a bit pricey, they are no more expensive than other large buffet offerings in that area. We will go again, as soon as we return to Myrtle Beach!

Been at Prestons many times before but here in oct had the worst buffet in myrtle beach. Oysters were dried up with mostly breading on a little oyster, deviled crabs were terrible with some kind of imitation crab meat, ribs were so greasy and fatty. They wanted $11.00 more for crab legs but we did not go for that bargain. The baked fish looked like it had been there for awhile, so for $40.00 we did not receive a very good meal.

We ate here three times during our recent vacation to Myrtle Beach. We love to eat here mainly because of the unlimited crab legs. They bring them fresh and hot to your table and keep them coming as fast as you can eat them. Also, there is a separate charge for the crab legs so if you do not like crab legs you do not have to pay for them. The buffet was excellent, even for those in our party that didn't like seafood. The salad is fresh and there is a wide variety of fruits and veggies to choose from. We have four kids and they love the food as well. Even their ice cream is delicious! There are always coupons to help save money. An overall pleasant dining experience.

If you are trying to pick from the 100's of seafood buffets in the Myrtle Beach area like we were you will be pleased with Preston's. We read many reviews before deciding and were very happy with our decision to go to Preston's. There salad bar was fresh and there were many choices on the seafood bar and everything was also fresh. Each item tasted different rather than everything tasting the same as you get on some other buffets. There were many choices for the member of our party who cannot eat seafood. We arrived to eat at 4:30 pm to avoid the crowds and were seated immediately. I can't say how things might be later in the night. I hope your experience is as good as ours.

It is $20 per person and most if not all of the stuff is so overcooked, salted and fried you cannot tell what you are eating. We love NC/SC fried seafood, but really felt like we had wasted our money after leaving Preston's. Not sure what a better option is, but encourage you not to waste your money here.

We visited this restaurant on 7-20-08 and were seated almost immediately. First buffet where they don't automatically charge for crab legs. I don't eat seafood but that's the only reason my husband goes to the beach...for seafood so I must go for him. It's nice that I don't have to pay for the crab legs that I don't eat. Nice buffet. Great desserts. Wait staff is very attentive. All around good experience for us.

We ate at Prestons because we wanted to try a seafood buffet. I love seafood, especially fried. We had the 10% coupon, making the adult buffet about $18. It is excellent because you have to pay extra for crab legs, but if you don't want that, you dont pay extra like some other buffets. The restaraunt is very clean, and big. All the food looked fresh and tasted good. I especially liked the fried shrimp and popcorn shrimp. The coconut cake and ice cream/hot fudge on the desert bar is excellent too. Yes, it's a glorified Golden Corral buffet, but the fried seafood, price, and choice are worth it. We went back twice because I was hesitant to try some other, more expensive buffets when I liked this one fine.

We bring a group of ladies from our church every year to the beach. One of the highlights of the trip is our annual meal at Preston's. Several of us always have the crablegs added. They are brought out fresh as you eat them and not left sitting on the bar is water. Every time we make a trip to Myrtle Beach we make a point to eat at Preston's.

I just wanted to say that I think Preston's is the best place to eat at in all of Myrtle beach! My family and i have been Acouple of times and we loved it. When you go in, it takes about five to ten minutes to be seated and that's on a very busy day. The food is great, it is always steaming hot when we go to eat and yes, we do eat off the perfectly priced buffet.

If you don't order off the buffet, then they will tell you that the crab legs are not added to the buffet. they cost about 15-20 dollars, but that's for all you can eat crab legs. the crab legs are pretty big, so you really are getting your moneys worth. the service their is great and I really don't see why anyone would not wont to eat at such a wounderful restaurant. So yes, I recommend preston's to anyone. We are planning to come back in july. Can't wait!

Hi everyone! I lived in Myrtle Beach for a year & half, plus my summers in college and ate at Prestons many times. I now live in PA. and I vist Preston's when I'm on the beach. Every time I had a great experience at Preston's! The food was hot and I always had great service when I went there for dinner. From being a waitor & a bartender in college I know what good service is and bad service. For the people out there who critize this restaurant they are complainers and don't have any idea of whats going on. And for the person who complained about the crab legs not being included.....get a life! Do you want something for free or what! For your information other places in Myrtle Beach and Murrells Inlet do the same thing. What are you complaining about? If you want a great place to eat and want great service go to Preston's Restaurant!

We were seated as soon as we walked in. The food wasn't the best we had eaten, and the meal was the most expensive we have had all week long. The best thing on the bar were the peanut butter cookies. Otherwise most of the food was bland. The broiled/baked fresh fish was very fishy tasting, and if you didn't get to the fried food as soon as it came it, it toughened up pretty fast. The salad was old looking, and there wasn't even a CRAB salad on the bar. In fact several of the items listed in the menu as being there weren't They were considered seasonal. The cost was $17.95 but if you wanted crab legs, it was another $10.00 on top of that. Add $2.00 per person for their drinks and it adds up fast. Overall, it was the worst experience we have had at a restaurant while here at myrtle beach. Our server was all but absent, letting our drinks run dry, and very inattentive on the whole.

We chose Preston's buffet because the restaurant advertises a menu to order from in addition to a buffet. My sister is vegan and does not eat from buffets. She ordered a baked potato. It came out hot, fresh, and HUGE. The rest of us enjoyed the buffet. If the items had just been put out, they were pretty good. Clam chowder tasted more like potato soup. Desserts were marginal. Waitress was very friendly, and joked around with the 9 of us. We liked that it had country items on the menu, since my Dad doesn't like seafood. It was a well balanced buffet with decent food. There are coupons in the magazines to take 10% off. All of the area buffets are overpriced, so this one is priced accordingly with the others. We appreciated that crab legs were not included, so that the price was lower, since only 3 of the 8 ordering the buffet would have eaten them anyway, and chose not to add them. Would we eat here again? Maybe.

Excellent buffet! For anyone complaining about the price, I'm guessing that you don't go to many MB buffets, because Preston's is by FAR cheaper than any of the others, with the same or better selection. Tons of different choices, lots of large tables. The sweet potato casserole alone is worth it!

Crab legs are extra, but they are extra at every single buffet I've been to in MB in the past 5 years.

THis is an excellent buffet restaurant, and will be sure to have lots to please the whole family!

The food was great, but expensive. One thing you need to know up front - THE CRAB LEGS COST EXTRA! We were okay with the $17.95 for the adult buffet, but they charge an extra $9.95 for the crab legs, which is what we wanted in the first place. For two adults, a 10-year-old, and a 7-year-old, our bill with tip was $95, and that's with the 10% coupon from the monster book. The fried shrimp on the buffet was delicious and the salad bar was wonderful, but I couldn't get past the fact that the crab legs made this a VERY expensive meal. Had we known that the crab legs were extra, we would have chosen a different seafood buffet where the crab legs are part of the regular buffet. Long story short: if you don't want crab legs this is a wonderful buffet - good food, good service - but if you want a seafood buffet that includes crab legs, go somewhere else. The crab legs were great, but overall the meal was not a great value for the money. We had 5 dinners on our vacation and I would rank this one 4th overall.

Lots of large tables for large parties (we had 8 adults and 7 kids in our party). The kids buffet was kind of overpriced, but $18 per adult was not bad for what they had to offer. Seafood was good, and tasted fresh, but the other meats they had to offer were somewhat dry. Servers were very friendly and attentive, and they kept the buffet well stocked. Overall, a pretty good experience..

With the outrigger now closed, we chose this one by default. Very bad mistake. My wife wanted crabs legs which is why we stayed. They were warm from the kitchen but with very little meat and just fair. I wanted lobster and it was not on the menu. I should have stopped with my water. The buffet was terrible and I was afraid of getting sick later. The bill for two without drinks was over $50.00. Do not go here. K&w cafeteria was much better overall. My wife said she gets better crabs legs at our local chinese buffet. Enough said , you have been warned. We were never asked how our meal was or if we needed something else..

Wow..The food here was wonderful. I have tried several buffets around town and this one is the best. The price is very reasonable, The best part is I don't like crablegs and Prestons does not charge me for them. Most places on the beach have crablegs included in their price. So Thank You for not making me pay for someone elses crablegs. If you do like them my wife says these are some of the best around. The service was wonderful. We ask for the same server every year and she is wonderful. You also have wonderful options on a cooked to order menu. I have had the steak to order and it was perfect. The decor is very nostalgic and is appealing to young and old.Make sure you put this restaurant on your list to try.

Very large assortment of food T-Bones on the bar three different carved meats. Seafood, veggies a nice salad bar. For an additional $9.00 you can add crab legs which I did the second night we ate there they were hot and fresh, and better than the ones at The Origional Benjamins. The dessert bar could offer a few more items, but they have plenty to choose from. We will go back

My Family and I (a group of nine) ate dinner at Preston's on July 30 while visiting North Myrtle Beach. We decided to try it out since we read so many good reviews about the restaurant on the internet. We went into the restaurant around 8:45pm and waited for about 8-10 minutes to be seated. So far so good? Not quite. Our experience at Preston's was horrible. Once we were seated, the waitress informed us that the crab legs would were not included on the buffet. With the buffet being very expensive by itself, we all decided that the overpriced crab legs would not be ordered.

Why didn't Preston's inform us from the beginning before we were even seated that crab legs were not part of the buffet. We even had called several times, and still no one mentioned that the crab legs were additional to the buffet. Even on their website, Preston's does not state that the crab legs are additional. And to top it all off, the food tasted horrible considering the fact the the buffet was overpriced. Because of the horrible quality of the food, we decided not to tip the waitress. For one, we had to beg for a refill on drinks and the poor quality of the food made us not want to tip.

I reccommend that you try other options before you let Preston's be your final decision.

This is the best place to eat at North Myrtle Beach. They have a selection second to none. seafood, steaks, country cooking and more. it's the least expensive place to eat seafood at Myrtle, and the price is the same it's been for years.

The food bar has everything from steaks, chicken, oysters, shrimp, fish, all kinds of hot vegetables, salad bar, and good ice cream.

We eat there at least once every time we go to the beach. This is a good family restaurant and for $16.95 you can't find a better place to take your family. We have run a restaurant and I don't know how they can afford to feed people for that price. This isn't your place if you think you are better than everyone else, but if you want good seafood, and down home taste go to Preston's - it's the best in our book. The food was great. The fried scallops were the best. We chose this restaurant because it also included country style food. You had to pay extra if you wanted crab legs but they were good. The dessert bar could use a few more items. We will make sure to visit here again but I dont think I would pay extra for the crab legs. There is enough seafood on the buffet to satisfy anybody.

The crablegs are the best around, they are served to your table, straight from the kitchen, hot and crisp, easy to unshell, not like the ones found on buffets which are soggy and over boiled.

If there are any other places out there that serve them this way, I'd sure like to know where they're at !

We also liked the fried oysters, shrimp and rolls,

So, if you're looking for GREAT crablegs, this is our pick ! !

We do suggest that you go early or right at dinnertime. The legs seemed bigger then if you get them later in the evening. Still the best tho ! !

Beware in the off-season. We went to this restaurant during March Break (14th). Over half of the items on the buffet were luke warm to cold.. and the wine (merlot) was undrinkable. We were asked numerous times how things were. After complaining about the quality of the food (numerous times) we were told that this was the slow time of the year and that was the reason for the inferior offerings. Which, I guess, is understandable, however the price remains the same as in the peak period. The waitress continued to ask if everything was okay, finally we gave up and said it was fine.

Thought Preston's was great. We ended up there for dinner because thats my son's name:) Servers were friendly and tentative.Big roomy booths to sit in, very clean. Lots of items to choose from on buffet: seafood, prime rib and t-bone steaks were awesome. Will definitely eat there again next trip in April 2006.

This restaurant was horrible. The seafood buffet looked terrible. The items on the buffet looked like yesterday's leftovers. For the price, the food was awful. It was so bad, my husband and I left after only eating a salad. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The buffet was clean, well stocked and everything looked and tasted fresh. Prime Rib was cut to order and very tender. A wide variety of seafood, including oysters, mahi and a fabulous crab stuffed seafood. We really enjoyed it and recommend it highly.

This was by far the best place to dine in the Myrtle Beach area. There was something for everyone in the family. The service was excellent. I can't wait to get back!
