I was disappointed in the Club crackers I had with my soup. They were a little stale. The entrees were excellent, but the bad crackers really made the whole experience quite "cancerous". Who has bad crackers? This place. That's who! I'll never eat there again!

We recently had dinner at Phillips, the food was great, the prices were reasonable and the service was very good. We were visited at the table twice by, what I assume was the manager, asking how everything was. We are even going back before we leave.

This was a big disappointment. The food was not good and priced too high especially for what food we received. We should have gotten a clue when we went there on Saturday evening about 5pm and there were only a few cars in the parking lot. Never again! It's a wrap for me.

Recently had an early dinner at Phillips and was most pleased. The crabcakes were full of delicious meat. The cream of crab soup was smooth and tasty, and not over salted as many soups are these days. Excellent service as well as a qustion about a coupon cleared up by the manager with more than just a solution. Please don't be put off by earlier reviews. Even the best eating places can have a bad day.

Awful food and service. The waitress did not give a choice of baked potato or fries. The place was open two days and were out of crab legs but they were practically empty. It took twenty minutes to get the food served and when it finally came the cornbread was cold, the baked potatoes were cold and tough as if they were cooked a day before. The squash side vegetable was laden with pepper. The sole filet was over fried and tough. The seafood platter was 3 shrimp and two small filets and a small dopple of crab cake foe $23. The waitress annoyed everyone by taking away plates and constantly asking if we were finished. We were a family of 5 adults and four children. If it hadn't been for the children I would have demanded a refund and an aplology. The place is disgraceful!! The Phillips family should remove their name.

This should not even have Phillips in the name. We have been eating at Phillips for years and looked forward to the wonderful crab cakes, rolls, and strawberry butter. They have nothing like that anymore. I was so disappointed in the food! I would not recommend this place to anyone! The food was horrible, the service was okay but their was no good seafood food anywhere on the buffet. I would not even call it a buffet because there was not a lot of food on in it and what they did have did not taste good at all. What happened to this great place?? I will never be back again, it was a waste of good money.

This restaurant was recommended to us. What a mistake. The food was very bad for the most part. The peel shrimp was OK but everything else was just sad, overcooked or underdone. There is no way this place should survive considering all the choices on Myrtle Beach. Stay away.

Phillips Flagship at the DC Yacht Club is one of my favorite restaurants in the world, so when I saw the familiar Phillips logo, I became very excited. WHAT a disappointment. They are no longer a seafood restaurant in Myrtle Beach, they are now "world cuisine", which means they ruin the seafood with unnecessary exotic seasonings. I told the manager of my disappointment with their food, and his response was a mere shrug of the shoulders. I have never written a restaurant review before, but this is a definite "stay-away".

This restaurant was recommended to us by the staff at the resort we stayed at. I love fresh seafood, and my husband doesn't. This restaurant has the best of both worlds. I ordered the crab legs off the menu by the pound, and also got the buffet. My husband just got the buffet. While we were sitting there, staff came around with different types of meat freshly cooked. It was delicious, and I felt like first class. There's everything from japanese, italian, thai, seafood, southern, mexican, and mongolian. The chefs described each dish in detail as they served it to you. My husband and I enjoyed a Margarita for 2 (and got to keep the glass). Overall, it was the most expensive meal that we've ever had but it was totally worth every penny. The buffet is about as pricey as other buffets in town, but it also gives a good variety, service, and atmosphere.

We have been going to phillips in myrtle beach for many years and it was one of our favorite places to eat. Not anymore!. The food was awful! no more good crabcakes only fried gross ones. No good bread like before. My son is a football player and eats a lot of food, even he hardly ate anything big mistake on phillips part.

We are a family of four with kids ages 14 and 18. We like buffets because it's easy to please everyone, but that wasn't the case with Phillips. The buffet is $19.99 pp + $5.99 add'l for 1 pound of crab legs. The food was dry and very bland. In fact, it looked so unappealing that the 18 yr old and I decided to skip the buffet and settled for miniiature crab cake (4)appetizers at $6.99. They were so bad, that my daughter only ate two of them and that was her dinner. My husband and son who have the sweet tooth in the family commented on the poor quality of food but were saving room for dessert. They came back from the dessert bar with a cookie because nothing else looked good. Our waitress didn't seem like she wanted to be there and wasn't completely familiar with the menu. We will never go back there again. This was an absolute disappointment!

Quality of Food Served : Seriously, it was a JOKE! A kiddie bar, california rolls, make your own soup bar, which they call the noodle bar, southern food bar, a few choices of fish cassaroles.and a burrito bar, the dessert bar. Phillips Seafood should of NEVER changed their concept. Level of Service Provided it was "ok" cleaned the dishes off and gave us refills.Nothing special. Atmosphere of Restaurant : Not bad, a total remodel took place here.Thats for sure. Value for the Money : NO WAY. Phillips Seafood, less than 20 items. Length of Time to be Seated : walked right in. 6 hosts with nothng to do. It was dead. The parking lot looked packed. My husband said there are more employees than customers. Noise Level of Restaurant : Quiet. I live here, In Surfside Beach. Phillips Seafood should of stayed the way they were.Kept the concept they had. This is supposed to be a SEAFOOD joint. not a southern, chinese and a "seafood" joint. I will never go back again. A waste of $$$.

This is totally different than any restaurant/buffet that we ever experienced. We read the bad reviews prior to going and thought we would still take a chance. We will not be going back. Doubt if it's still operating in 2010. Poor management, poor waitress staff, no one smiling and excited about what they are doing there. the girls that brought food tableside for you to sample were very good and attentive. We had to bus our own table twice and waitress didn't remove the plates until we asked for the check. The crabcakes are in the tradition of Phillips you may be familiar with if you are from Maryland but that is where the similarity stops.

Friends of mine were in town and looking for a seafood buffet. I have been to the Phillips buffet in Ocean City Maryland which is very good, so we decided to try this one. The two weren't even close. This isn't a seafood buffet, it's a trash buffet. We should have gotten the hint that no one was there on a Saturday evening but soon figured it out when there isn't any seafood on the buffet just make your own burritos.

First and last time to Phillips International Buffet. The selection of food is very limited for a buffet. Maybe it just wasn't our cup of tea, We thought we were going to get a large variety of food - we didn't. I guess if you like sushi it would be worth the $19.99. I found the food just wasn't that good. I can honestly say we both left hungry. First time I ever left a buffet hungry. I ate some things off the children's buffet and notice other adults doing the same thing. Use your money somewhere else. With a tip, we spent $50 and did not get $50 worth of value.

Way overpriced and poor service. Took 50 minutes to get our food. I had the broiled seafood platter ($25), crab cake was okay, but the 4 small shrimps were partly burnt, and the very small piece of mahi-mahi was dry and over-cooked. My wife had the shrimp scampi ($24) that wasn't much better. We had to get dessert to fill up. We ended up spending $80+ for 2 people and felt very unsatisfied - I expected much more in terms of taste, quality and portion for the price, so not a good value at all compared to many other seafood places that we have eaten at.

The best crabcakes I've found in South Carolina, but what else would one expect from Phillips? The crab dip was very tasty, but a little light on the crab. The kitchen was VERY slow. They said that a large carryout order came in, but it took an hour from when we were seated to get our entrees. When you have kids with you, that just doesn't work. Our server was great thought, and did her best to accomodate the delay.

For years I've listened to my sister rave about the Phillips' restaurant she visits when she goes to Maryland. I was excited to try this one in Myrtle. What a waste of time and money. The food was not a lot different than Mrs. Paul's frozen fish from the grocery store. The wait staff was negligent at best and surly most of the time. The wait time of 30 minutes was not worth it. Save time and a great deal of money and go to.......well, probably any other place!

I was at the restaurant with 3 of my golfing buddies on the night of February 23rd. I do not remember the waitress's name but she was from Charlotte (lived there18 years) and was very attentive. We ordered the calamari appetizer and I had the broiled trio which included shrimp, crab cake and broiled salmon. The calamari was awful and did not have an appetizing appearance. The salmon did not taste very good, and appeared pale looking , lacking the usual orange hue. I ate about 8pm and at approximately 3am I was vomiting and having diarrhea with some mild abdominal cramping. I am better now less than 18 hours later , but I am very dissapointed in my experience. I am a physician and I know that I did not have a virus . It is my opinion that some portion of my seafood was spoiled. That is not appropriate at any r estaurant and especially not at a high quality restaurant like Phillips. I will never eat there again.

My husband and I were looking for a nice and upscale restaurant to spend our New Year's Eve. We were overwhelm with the beautiful scenery and the service. Our food was delicious. We had the mini crab cake appetizer with the sauces and they were delicious. I had the seafood platter with the shrimp, crab cake, tilapia, clamstrips and it was delicious. I had so much I couldn't eat it all I had to get a doggy bag. My husband had the 1lb lobster stuffed with the imperial crab and he also had the she crab soup appetizer and he really, really enjoyed his food esp. the lobster. We also had a singapore sling and a glass of champagne. I had an additional drink a long island ice tea and they were all delicious. Our total price was $105.60 which included a $10 tip. Nicholas was our server and he was excellent. He made sure we were ok and that we were satisfied. He asked if the food and drinks were good and he was ready and willing to get us anything we needed. You just have to try it for yourself and if you like it come again and if you don't you just have to find another place that will satisfy you!

This was our first visit, and last to the restaurant. When we arrived we were told we had a 1/2 hr wait, after 45-50 min we were finally seated. The wait staff was very prompt and polite, this is the only positive I can say, other than that, we should have left after the 1/2 hr wait and saved our money and tastebuds from the assault. My Fiance ordered the broiled seafood platter, the skewer that had scallops and shrimp were not edible, the scallops were RAW and the shrimp were NOT DEVEINED, when he sent it back, showing the waiter the problems, he was given the same thing again, RAW scallops and UNDEVEINED shrimp. I ordered the stuffed flounder with crabmeat, flounder being a very delicate fish was ruined because of the excessive spice that was used on it. So my advice to you is if you see Phillips and you are looking for a good meal, just keep on driving by, DO NOT STOP!!!

We went there last night and were totally disappointed! we were told a half hr wait, it turned out to be 45-50 minutes, and we should have left and saved our money. The broiled seafood platter was laughable, clams casino were the size of dimes (2) and the shrimp/scallop skewer was raw and the shrimp were not deviened. The stuffed flounder was a total disappointment as well, this is a delicate fish normally, and the spices that they used on it ruined the flavor and meal as a whole. Do yourself a favor and just keep on driving when you see this place!.

Last year we went to Phillips thinking it would be like the wornderful Phillips seafood buffett in Maryland. Wrong! It was just a regular run of the mill seafood place. The service was good but the food was no better than Red Lobster in Georgia, where there is no ocean. The seafood didn't taste like "fresh seafood" and it was well overpriced, but if you are in a tourist town your always going to get plenty of business no matter how bad you are.

Am a previous Maryland resident retired to North Carolina. Previous experience is with the Phillips Crab House in Ocean City..this one in Myrtle Beach is terrible. We were treating our daughter, her husband and our two grandchildren to dinner. My daughters meal did not come with ours and in fact did not come until all of us had finished eating. The manager would not take her meal off the ticket, but gave us a slice of "special" chocolate cake. The cake was still frozen in the center..Never again!!

Good food. Crab cakes (broiled) were wonderful. Stuffed flounder had a muddy taste. Bread was awful, tasted like frozen junk from a restaurant supply chain. Good iced tea. Great service. Wasn't busy when we were there, about 8 PM. Would eat there again for the crab cakes. Pricey, like most Myrtle Beach restaurants.

From my experience, Phillips has good food but lousy service. When my family (three people) had dinner there, everything was fine, but they are apparently unable to handle details for a group with individuals paying. I would advise any group leader to choose another restaurant or suffer the embarrassment and inconvenience of a loooong wait for your checks.

I was very disappointed to find that my family paid an extravagant amount of money for just "OK" seafood. Coming from Long Island, New York we have access to wonderful food. I was also shocked to find that the crab cakes (which I love) were not better than Phillips frozen crab caked I can buy here at Costco.

First visit was w/ a group of 16 golfers, 10/06. Even as walk ins, it was great. Service, value, atmosphere, etc!!

In fact, four of us visited again 11/06 w/ our wives. Again, absolutely top notch. Best she crab soup around. Highly recommend the 16 oz ribeye. You won't find it better.

Ask for Jim as your server. Really interesting guy, and the best of the best at his job.

We went early, so we were seating immediately. The staff was very friendly. We both had the she-crab soup, it was very good. My boyfriend had the filet which he really enjoyed. I had salmon, crabcake, and shrimp combo. The salmon and crabcake were both the best i've ever had. I didn't enjoy the bread and mashed potatoes (both are usually my favorites but not this time). This restaurant was on the expensive side. A dinner for two was $72 with tip.

This was my first visit to Myrtle Beach and was pleasantly surprised to find Phillips here. I am a Maryland native now living in Greenville, SC and since coming here I hate to say it, but I have yet to find a decent crab cake in the Carolinas. Phillips broke that streak. I am familiar with Phillips from living in Maryland and their food has always been excellent. Here is no exception. Our first night here we were seated promptly, had excellent service and food. The restaurant was spotless and had a wonderful "Chesapeake Bay" decor, but classy also. We got the mini crab cakes as an appetizer and they and the sauces were suberb. The fried seafood platter with crab cake, choice of fish, scallops and clams was wonderful. The breads, nice moist corn muffins and cheddar biscuits were a nice change from the normal bread fare. We also visited one more time during our visit and got the steamed crabs which were nice and heavy and steamed correctly (not boiled like I find alot down South), the meat being nice and firm, no water coming from the crabs at all. The seasoning was perfect. It was my husband's first time picking crabs and he had a fun experience (although he would prefer someone else to pick them the next time). The prices were compareable to other restaurants serving seafood and the quality much better. Matter of fact, the steamed crabs were actually a better price per dozen here than back in Maryland I later found out when I called home. All in all, a wonderful experience and we will go back again.

On the first few times I've visted here I had wonderful experiences. Great food and service. However, the last time I went with my extended family of 16 and surprisingly the food was horrible. It was not tasty nor like any other times we had visited in the past. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

I have been to Myrtle Beach 3 years in a row. My party and I love seafood and was very happy to have found this restaurant on our first vacation to Myrtle Beach. We ranted and raved to everyone about the food, pricing, and everything else about the restaurant we could think of.

We went back the second year and we were just as pleased.

Now on our third trip on July 25, 2006 we returned once again, expecting to feel the same way. We had two other families traveling with us and we had told them all about Phillips Seafood.

Much to our surprise we were so disappointed. We will never be back and we were so embarrassed that we held this place up so highly. It was such a let down.

We waited for over an hour to be seated, we had to sit near a large party that was having too much to drink, the quality of the food was bad, the portions were less than half the size as before, some things were no longer available, the pricing was totally outrageous, and worst of all, my daughter got a refill of Mountain Dew and when the glass was sat on the table in front of her, it had a FLY floating in it. Need I say more????????

I'm originally from Maryland and when my visiting family suggested Phillips for dinner...

The one here didn't resemble the ones we knew so well from Ocean City Md. What a wonderful surprise. Everyone in the group enjoyed the dinner... teens, seniors and everyone.

The staff was very pleasant and desserts were also special.

My family and I have just started going here about three years ago. Every time I have eaten there I never new what the fuss of my brothers was about how great their food is. Last year however, I ordered the garlic shrimp and it was amazing. The wait was never that long, but maybe because we had reservations. Inside the restaurant, it is very nice. My dad does not like it however, just because there is no view. Being from Cleveland, we would like to see some palm trees or water. But where it's location is, I guess it is not possible. We go there every year and I do not dread going there or look forward to it.

My husband and I ate dinner here the evening of September 10th. It was after Labor Day, so that could be why we had zero wait for a table and a very attentive server. I will also mention my husband and I are from Maryland and have eaten at 3 of the Phillips restaurants. THIS Phillips is by far our new favorite. It was our 2nd time dining here in Myrtle Beach (first was 4th of July week 2003). We were so impressed! I ordered Maryland style crabcakes, which were wonderful, full of lump meat, little filler and no shells. My husband had the combination seafood platter and was also happy. The scallops were some of the best he'd ever tasted. Before you order, they even bring you bread and butter...and not just the ordinary kind. You get mini cornbread muffins with whipped strawberry butter plus cheddar biscuits. Yum! I also loved the Eastern Shore Lemonade drink I ordered. The restaurant itself is huge and very clean. As for price, it isn't "cheap" but you do get what you pay for. We love Phillips and will return every year we visit Myrtle Beach!

Terrible experience. My wife and I went into the Restaurant and signed up for the next available table. They told us they had a table in smoking and one of the hostess started walking toward the bar and stopped and pointed down the lobby and then walked away. We had no way of knowing where the seat was. I went back to the hostess desk and told them and all they said was the bar. When we finally found the bar, without any help all the booths were taken and the only thing left was at the bar which I didn't want. I walked back to the hostess desk and was completly ignored. Needless to say we left and ate elsewhere. One of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant anywhere much less Myrtle Beach, which we visit about once a month. As for the food review. The Average was checked because they didn't have a catagory for not getting to taste it.

If you have been to the Phillips in Maryland - you'll wonder at the fresh and sleek decor of this location. And no buffet here - ala carte and outstanding! We have enjoyed Phillips in Maryland, and so we went here on our recent trip to Myrtle Beach. We were not disappointed - the food was excellent and the servings were HUGE! My 3 yr old daughter especially liked that her meal came with Oreo cookies - a nice touch. We were there in the middle of July, and we didn't wait at all for a table. And considering the size of the place, it was remarkably quiet even with many diners. Perhaps they were too busy eating to chat!! The pacing of the course was a bit rushed, but otherwise a flawless dinner.

This was probably the best meal we had on vacation in Myrtle Beach last year. We're going back down in a couple of weeks and have already planned on going here. Service was great, food excellent, and asmosphere wonderful. Better than the all-you-can-eat Buffet in Ocean City Maryland.

We were impressed with Phillips in Myrtle Beach since we are from the DC-Maryland area where Phillips started in Ocean City, Maryland. Our first visit to the Myrtle Beach location was in July '04. We had a party of about 35 people. The crab cakes were good on our first visit. We had crabs in the bar area on the 2nd visit and they were good even though they were not very large. We went back again in March '05 and the food was very good. The service was not as prompt as in the summer probably due to lack of help. But we will definitely visit again this July.
