Italian Restaurant in Pawleys Island

Pastaria 811

Very homey, locally owned place. Angel hair with polmoli sauce and meatballs are to die for. Great pizza. Everything great as long as you stick with Italian. By mistake, I once ordered a cheese steak sandwich which was pretty bad. Meat tough and gristly. But my fault because why order anything but Italian there. I take all my guests there. Has been a family/friend favorite for maybe 10 yrs.

So very disappointed in our first and last experience at Pastaria811. We ordered our food to go on our last night of a 2 week vacation in PI. I must say, this was the only negative of our entire trip. I placed an order for Chicken Fracaise, stuffed chicken Marsala, cheesy bread and a kids pasta with butter. I also requested extra Parmesan cheese on the side. The woman who took my order repeated it back and it was correct, including the Parmesan. We were told that with our PI VIP card, we were eligible for no discount as several other restaurants and merchants offer despite the restaurant being listed as a participant. Instead we were offered a "Free" order of abbrosi bread. When we returned to our cottage with our order, we were disgusted on several levels. Our total was over $55. We were give a credit card receipt only, so we are unsure what we were even charged for. We had no Parmesan, no butter for the bread that was included with our entrees. The house salads that were included were lettuce with a plop of bruschetta mix on top. The portion sizes were less than what you would expect for a lunch size order. Both chicken entrees had one small piece of chicken and a handful of pasta. I have never been to a pasta/Italian restaurant where I could finish my meal. I find this especially ridiculous as the cost of pasta is pennies. I have no idea what we paid for the pitiful amount of buttered ziti we ordered for my daughter but it was a disgrace. I called to notify the restaurant of our disappointment and was told "sorry." Spend your money at one of the other fabulous establishments in the area and give his one a pass.

After the resturant opened at Pawley's Island a couple of years ago, it quickly becane one of our favorite resturants. We visited for lunch on Auguust 29, 2014 and did not have a good experience. We were seated promptly but then the hostess or waitress forgot about us and no one came to our table for about 10-15 min and until I was able to get the hostess' attention. The resturant was not crowded. The waitress finally took our order but the service was slow. Everything we got we had to ask for. She never came around during the entire meal to re-fill ice tea for which the resurant charged the sum of $2.75 and no refills( our beverege bill was almost 40% as much as our food bill). Food was above average as was value for food. Beverage value poor.Noise level was high not to have a bigger crowd.Overall our opinion of this resturant has gone down because of this experience.

We are from NY & love good Italian. Ate there with three friends & all four meals were delicious. Looking forward to our next meal. Owner, David, very friendly. Very enjoyable experience.

This was the worst experience we have ever had! My husband drank half his beer when he noticed there was a crack in the side of the glass running to the bottom of the glass. The waitress took the glass and said she would take the beer ($3) off the bill. She then came back and said the manager said they would not take the $3 off and they discarded the rest of the beer. We were informed that we would have to pay for another beer. Really???? Very BAD customer relations. Not only will we not be back for our weekly visit but we will be telling EVERYONE of this incident. Word spreads fast in this community. There are other Italian restaurants of this quality who value their regular customers.
