We went there last night for the first and last time. Over an hour after ordering we finally got our food. We did get our 5 bacon wrapped scallop appetizer right away then nothing. We ordered 6 oysters on the 1/2 shell and they brought 12. Waitress said we can have 12 and I said we did not want to pay for 12 she said that was fine. She came back a couple mins. later and said she had to take 6 back and did so right in front of us (were they gonna re-serve those, we could have sneezed or coughed in them) now we waited an hour for this you'd think they'd have given it to us as we were still waiting on main course. Clam strips were obviously pre-frozen, fries were soggy and fried grouper so-so. They offered us nothing for the almost total 2 hrs. it took to get out of there except a couple "I'm sorry's". Also very smokey smelling.

Don't let the name fool you. We've lived in the area for over a year and thought it was a seafood restaurant. We used a restaurant.com coupon and had a good experience. It's a bar with a few tables, pool table and video games. There are enough televisions for whatever you want to watch. It's a locals place with surprisingly good food especially given the low cost. Don't expect a fine dining or smoke-free experience, but if you're looking for a fun place with nice service people and good food, give it a try.

Our family absolutely loves this place! Micky is such a gracious host. The food is fantabulous and prices are superb. We make On the Half Shell one of our regular stops. We usually stop in about 3 times during the vacation week as the prices are so reasonable and the food so fresh. My boys really love the pool table, shuffleboard table game and darts. Keeps them entertained as well as all the TV's. We had a blast last Christmas break watching the Sunday game ticket. We are heading back for Thanksgiving and will be sure to be in there again!

This restaurant leaves much to be desired. Seafood does not taste fresh at all, almost as if it's been sitting around for quite some time. My husband tried the "Maryland style" crab cake. It was quite obvious they have no idea of how to make an actual Maryland crab cake. The owner should focus more on quality and pleasing his customers instead of falling around at the bar and making a scene. We will not be returning to this establishment.

Best french fried lobster anywhere and the price is astounding. Waitress friendly and efficient. You have to try it at least once and decide for yourself. You'll be back!

I ran across this place driving down to georgetown one day and i fell in love! food is wonderful and service was amazing! bartenders introduced themselves by name which i like. I have sent many of people i know that live closer then i do there and they seem to think the same things. Some of which have become regulars there. Fried lobster is what i love and they cook a great one!

The menu will shock you. Lots of different items from pub grub to seafood. Throw in the steaks, ribs, home made Italian seafood dishes, and Momma Kathy's soups, and everyone can find something they'll really like.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. This is obviously a great local watering hole with a friendly staff and great bar. The surprise comes when you order food, pretty much everything I've had there has exceeded my expectations. Buffalo Shrimp are outstanding and you get tons of them. Mickey and company know how to take care of their customers which is why so many customers return again and again.

To put it simple the food sucks. The folks who rave on this place do not know good seafood from the dollar menu at a burger joint. The waitress was hungover and smelled like a drunken sailor. Bartender on cell phone ignoring customers. As a local I was so embarassed for bringing my golfing buddies from gulfport, miss.(seafood mecca) to this dive. The owners need a visit from hells kitchen for real!.

They should really be ashamed of themselves for calling this place on the 1/2 shell as a local i'm thinking cool this is the place for oysters, boy was I thrawn for loop. As we waited sipping on our great priced bottled beer. We noticed a guy keep coming to the bar from his table he shared with his family to get refills on his mixed drinks.i remember saying to myself"two customers in the whole joint". Oysters arrive smell good open one a peanut sized dried up peice of shoe leather! we had even asked the bartender if the were local before ordering. After trying them we told her they suck. She promptly goes into kitchen tells cook who we find out is the owner . Now folks im no rest. Critic or anything but you complain about order and you are local shouldnt they atleast ask if you prefer another menu item? they didnt but handed me a check. No disc. $11.95 for 12steamed peanuts.i let the owner know hes incompedent and paid and left hungry and a $5.00 tip went to murhpys law and had real oysters..

Horrible service and lackluster seafood. If you are going there to drink, it seems to be a nice bar. Serving food seems to be an afterthought.

The staff at Half Shell is above and beyond. Mickey is warm engaing of each and every patron. The food is excellent the fish tacos second to none and the fish and chips special is great. kendall tiffany dominic and other bartenders know you by name and drinks. My better half could eat his weight in fries freshly cut and the malt vinegar just perfect. This is a hidden gem that we the locals love.
