Had a delightful meal late in February with a group of 9. Service was attentive. Everyone enjoyed their food. My eggplant parm was great. My husband loved the veal marsala -- we will be back again soon. The atmosphere is so much brighter than before, love it. Only comment, the chairs are uncomfortable, the waiter said they plan on correcting that.

Because I ordered "take-out", I really cannot comment as to the dine-in Atmosphere experience, seating time or the bar area, but the new restaurant decor makeover is refreshed and looks larger. Old World doesn't open until 4:30pm, but I called around 4pm and placed a "to-go" order. My order was ready in about 25 minutes and I did not have to wait once I arrived to pick up my order. I requested Linguine w/Clams in the red sauce (white sauce is an option also) and I enjoyed the Beef Lasagna. My friend said he really enjoyed his meal, but since I don't eat fish, I did not sample his entree. The lasagna was excellent and the sauce tasted as though it was definitely homemade. Both meals were generous portions. We both thought our meal was reasonably priced. I'm not sure what kind of bread one is served when you actually "dine-in", but my take-out had a cold, cut portion of french bread that came with a small container of parmesan, but I heated it in the microwave. I've had the lasagna from Carrabba's (which is practically right next door to Old World Italian) and the lasagna I had this evening from Old World was far superior. Old World is a locally owned, independent business and I prefer to shop and dine "Local" in my community. The new menu does only offer a limited selection, but I believe there is something for everyone to enjoy and there are a few selections targeted specifically for kids. There is no scenic view nor outdoor seating but the hostess and waitstaff were friendly. I will definitely return here.

My wife and I had dinner at Old World for the first time since the restaurant had its make-over for another one of those "TV" shows. Since moving to Murrells Inlet 8 years ago, we have been dining here at least two or three times a month - it was one of our favorite restaurants on the beach. Sadly to say, tonight will probably be our last time visiting this old friend. The changes have left the restaurant lacking charm and personality. The menu selections are limited with all of our favorite dishes removed from the menu. Gone is the complimentary side of pasta with your meal, locals free meal tickets, and the change from china type plates to plastic plates is just wrong. Thanks for the memories, but now we will have to find another Italian restaurant.

If you think Bolognese should be chopped up meatballs in a light red sauce this is the perfect place. Very dissappointed. My wife had a dish with shrimp and scallops and was up half the night sick to her stomach. All for only $70.00 dollars.

I've been Italian all my life, I have cooked professionally, and I'm extremely picky about whether the Italian food I'm being served is cooked and prepared simply and correctly. I've eaten at the other Italian restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area. There is none better than than Old World Italian in Murrells Inlet. Excellent food, interesting menu, and a warm, friendly atmosphere. When I go there, I feel like I'm at home among family. The family owners are hard-working, good people, and I'm proud to call them my friends.

Small store front place in a strip mall, it may take a while to be seated. Good food, small place, go figure! That said there are no other negatives. George, the owner, treats everyone like family when they walk through the door. What the place lacks in decor, they more than make up for in food quality! We dine there at least once, every time we are in Murrells Inlet. Best real Italian food around.

Three of us dined in this restaurant in June 2012. I can honestly say we will never return to it. The lettuce in the salads were of a store bought brand & not the freshest that should have been. My wife had spaghetti with garlic & oil but it lacked garlic. Father Scotti had spaghetti & meatballs. He asked twice for additional sauce since the original plate had only a dollop of marinara sauce. I had spaghetti with meatballs & mushrooms. The mushrooms were raw, yes raw. I also asked for additional sauce since it was thin & runny. On a bright note, the bread & butter that was served was fresh & plentiful. Since none of us finished the meal, the polite waitress asked if we would like to take the leftovers home. Our response was throw it where it belongs, in the garbage. In our honest opinion, this restaurant is over rated & not worth the prices they ask.

My family and I ate at Old World for the first time in May on a trip to Murrell's Inlet ! And it was, by far, the best Italian food we have ever eatten ! Don't let the location fool you, because looks can be decieving ! The seatting was fast, which was nice for a family with small children and the service was awesome ! I would recommend Old World to everyone :-)!!!

I have lived in Murrells Inlet since 2009 and had not had a chance to try this restaurant, boy I was dissapointed! I went with my wife and was seated promptly. Our waiter was aloof there was something missing perhaps attentivness? We ordered Bruschetta, That was the only good part of the meal but a small portion as an appatizer, it came out after the salad and I had to ask twice when it would come to the table. Anyway I had lasagna,$16.00. A small deep dish portion that tasted like a frozen dinner, one layer of cheese melted on top of flat noodles with what tasted like jar sauce and ground meat or was that compressed sawdust! The salad was stale and so small I would not feed it to a rabbit. My wife had Fettucini Alfredo with chicken if you could call it that. Seemed like noodles in milk! that was $20.25. The best part was having to hear young childres yelling and running in the back of the dining room, they were relatives of the owner, please take them to the playground or leave them home with the baby sitter! For what we spent I will never go back, there are too many other choices in the area. Please save your hard erned retirement or vacation money and find another dining establishment!

I used to work for George and Theresa. They are truly genuine people, and were awesome bosses. The food made by "young George" and Theresa is incredible, from her fried mozzerella to chicken papa giallo (?sp) and chefs creation (bow tie pasta in a tomato/vodka sauce with ground sausage), you will definitely NOT be sorry. The food, the staff and the owners are definitely NOT to be missed.

Coming from a family who has pasta nights which includes 20 family members and plenty of spaghetti and meatballs... and new york critics.. this restaurant is in a league of it's own. It is very easy to find good seafood in Murrell's Inlet but to call what most restaurants call Italian Food in SC is sad.. OLD WORLD is a North Jersey Girls Fantasy when craving some good eggplant parm or veal scallopini! It's a gold mine find an have been there every year for 13 years! We have even brought the owner some tastes of NJ to make him feel like home just like he makes us feel!

Absolutly nothing to complain about, have eaten here many times. Owner, staff, service tope of the line, no chain food here. Food is fresh prepared while you wait, prices reseaonable. Took my daughter and family here, a person that knows and has traveled everywhere to eat, she was very impressed said it was the best place I ever took her.she just return from italia, and knows what italia food should be. The place next door could never compete with hight prices and what I call chain food. Old word is a place you will tell all about. Local for 22 yrs.

I am an original native NYorker... Wel folks this is it look no further. The food is beyond excellent.. I had time to spend in italy all over. My honest evaluation, is the food is better than when i was in Italy. Yes seriously. Oh the food was good, don't get me wrong. But George Sr. Mama and George the Chief Chef have got it cornered. You would miss out terribly if you did not stop by and receive what they have to offer. The food is exquisite dining, the atmosphere is ole school Italian not fancy but cozy, the service you could not get that kind of service today. Service with a level of care. It is like Chef George makes love to his food, so his patrons can see and taste and smell the food. Mama sauce is par excellence, and no she won't give you the recipe so don't ask The funny thing they have the food chain of a national competitor right next door, they can't compete with what Old World Italian Restaurant has to offer. I grew up in NY, I have been around in Brooklyn and little Italy in NY Bravo Old World I Love It! and you can take that to the bank! PS I don't care how many Italian Rest there are on that strip they cannot compare, tried them ugghhh! !Ciao!

I’m from New York and have been vacationing in Myrtle Beach for the past ten years. A friend of mine told me about the Old World Italian restaurant and said it would be worth a visit. Needless to say he was right. The Old World has become an essential dining stop every time we visit Myrtle Beach. The food is outstanding and the service provided by George and his staff is great. This will always remain as one of my stops on future trips to Myrtle Beach .

WoW ! ! ! Glad we found this place. OUTSTANDING ! ! ! People need to know about this place..... Great home cooked italian inspired meals w/ impectable service from Kenny. So tasty, we returned twice during our visit. As explained by the server, everything is prepared homemade, so expect short waits between courses. It only adds to taking in all of the flavors and atmosphere. Everything is so good. Difficult what to choose. We ordered clams in white sauce w/ linguini and veal marsalsa and the kids got chicken parm and spegetti. All our meals were excellent. The owner works the floor is very accommodating. Returned the next day for early bird meals w/ just about the same menu selection but, for less (4pm-6pm). We looked foward to when we can come back.

My wife and I was married in August of 08 and drove straight threw after the wedding to Myrtle Beach to arrive late in route to our lodging, and starving we wanted to eat somwhere realy nice for our first meal as a husband and wife but couldn't find anything open at the time of our arrivel, we noticed the lights were on at the old world italian and pulled in we noticed the closed sign on the door and people leaving the parking lot. Thinking we were out of luck we began to back out of the parking spot and the owner steped out and waved us back. He told us the door was open to us and to come on in! So we did and was treated like family, the food was unreal and we were giving a complimentray glass of wine with our meal. We were more than impressed with the service and the quality of the food. It is a small establishment but is a remarkable restaurant for its size and if you love italian its a must do for a couple or a group, we have made it a tradition to attend every year and have never been disapointed!! If you come to the beach its a must do, its one that we will do for years to come every time we come to the area and were heading there this week and cant wait "june 2010!

Exceptional, seating was fast, very clean, and the food was delicious. For the money, believe me, you can not beat it...... We tipped our waiter a little extra as we were so pleased with our dinner and the service that was provided. Would I go back again, you bet..... Pat & Mike Savoy Ontario, Canada

Just returned from Old World. It was THE worst dining experience of our lives. Our clue should have been the glass of wine spilled on my wife by a distracted waitress on our way to be seated. After a very long wait we finally ordered. A big mistake. My food arrived overcooked and inedible. The sauce on the pasta actually tasted spoiled. My wife had her food delivered cold and also inedible. We were unable to get ANYONES attention to voice our concerns, and did not want to send the food back for fear of retribution. The hostess wanted to comp our meal and offered a $25 gift card for our next visit. We paid for the meal an politely told the hostess no need for the gift card-- we would never return. Do yourself a favor, just drive past this one.

This has to be the best kept secret in Myrtle Beach area. Whenever we visit Myrtle Beach, we stop to make this our first supper in the area and our last supper when we are leaving. The food has always been superior. George greets his guests at the door and immediatly makes them feel at home. The portions are not huge, but they are just right. The $13.00 specials are the best bargain in the area.

My husband and I are huge fans of "Old World". The Veal Sorrento is incomparable and the traditional italian dishes are very good. There is an abundance of bread... There is a welcoming atmosphere and the bar area can accomodate 10-12 folks if there is a wait. Carrabas moved next door a few years ago and it actually increased "Old World's" business, so making a reservation is highly recommended.

We have visited this restaurant many times since 2001, but not in the last year or so. We went last night and was seating within 10 minutes , even though the restaurant was half empty?? My Chicken Parmigiana was over cooked, almost burned. My wife order one of the daily Specials( Shrimp and Lobster Meat ) over Angel Hair Pasta w/ Alfredo Sauce. It was all pasta and sauce and we were charged $26.95. Our Waitress was not attentive , so overall we were not pleased . Probably will not go back again. Pacino's is much better and prices are lower.

My husband, family and I have been dining at Old World Italian Restaurant since it opened. Not only is it the most wonderful italian restaurant that we have ever dined at, but the owners and staff are like family. My husband just celebrated his 60th birthday and we had his party at Old World. Everyone absolutely loved the food and atmosphere and we were all treated like family by the owner and his lovely staff. It is the only place for excellent italian food, not only along the Grand Strand, but anywhere in South Carolina. Thank you Old World Italian Restaurant for your continued quality and wonderful service. We love you!

So, okay. You might have a little wait at Old World, even if you have a reservation. There's a reason for that. It's very good, and worth the short wait. Not the largest menu in the world, but what is served is excellent -- try the chicken parmigiana -- my favorite. The service is fine, especially if you are friendly. They have many repeat patrons. Go to some chain if you like, but my wife and I, both from Italian sections of Brooklyn, come here once each trip. So, go to Carabba's. Leave a table for us at Old World.

Being new to the area and being Italian from NY, it was rough for me to find real home cooked Italian food. Old World met my expectations 100%. Recommended to me by my home insurance agent and very grateful for that! I had Veal Parm and LOVED it...gravy is fantastic. Service was friendly, and owner a nice guy as well. Being a local now, I can always find Italian food I love at Old World Italian Restaurant when I am not cooking at home. Thank you to the owner and staff.

We love Olde World. The food is consistently good and can't be beat anywhere on the Grand Strand. George will make you feel right at home. The bruschetta, homemade bread, and house wine are all exceptional. Try the New Zealand mussels with angel hair pasta. The mussels are also delicious served in marinara with bread for dipping as an appetizer. The tira misu is better anything you will get in Italy. If you have to wait just remember you will probably be glad you did!!!!!

Friends from West Virinia raved about Olde World Italian so we tagged along with them one evening and found this spot to be very good, food was excellent and staff was helpful if asked a question. Even the owner made a stop at our table to ask how everything was, he got a two thumbs up from us all after spending a few moments chatting.

On a rave recommendation from my parents we decided to dine at Old World. We love Italian and being from NJ as the owners are so looked forward to our evening. The atmosphere is fine, a small strip mall type restaurant with plastic flowers and white holiday lights for decoration. Our waiter was new but the service was fine. On the menu were 2 pasta dishes, Penne Arbiatta/Penne with a spicy pink sauce for 10.95 and Farfalla Vodka with Sausage/Farfalla with vodka pink sauce and Sausage for 17.95. I asked our waiter if I could have Penne with plain vodka sauce, no sausage. He asked the kitchen and came back to the table to say it could be done. No mention of an additional cost. The dish was awful, the sauce tasted burnt. When we received our bill I was charged the 17.95 price. Thinking it was a mistake I inquired to the hostess. She went to check with the owner who said that Penne Vodka or Penne Vodka with Sausage was the same price. If I had known that I would have ordered something else. I can't imagine that a bowl of pasta with pink vodka sauce could cost 17.95 and taste terrible on top of it. When I told George the other owner what had happened he just shrugged his shoulders. I am not a fan of chain italian but I would rather go next door to Carraba's or never eat italian again then to go to old world.

This is a must if you like traditional italian food. We have eaten here many times and have never had a bad meal. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Make sure you call ahead with a reservation, especially if you have a large party. We are locals and always take out of town guests here for a great meal.

Had been coming to the area from New Jersey, as a Time Share Owner, for many many years and found Old World through "word of mouth" about ten years ago. Have subsequently moved to Surfside Beach permanently. This is the best restaurant on the Grand Stand for wonderful Italian food without exception. True New Jersey Italian cooking with an outstanding family ownership and great staff. George, the owner, is excellent and makes everyone feel like family but his greatest talent was finding a wonderful wife and raising a wonderful son to do the cooking. We can't recommend this fine restaurant enough. A little reluctant to praise it too much so it gets too popular to get in but they do deserve it all.

I recently had the good fortune to dine here twice in a 2 week period. Both for the "early bird" special. Salad, bread and entrees for two at $14.95 from a limited menu was absolutely "fabulous". I confess, I had the linguine with clams both times, rich in "white" sauce, garlic and fresh parsley. What a bargain! george and his staff were magnificent! good food, fair prices and superior service, what more can you ask for????.

Growing up in an heavily populated Italian area, and marrying into an Italian family, I was surprised when I had the best Italian meal of my life in Murrells Inlet, SC at Old World. After helping move my Dad to the area, we went to grab some take out down the road. We met George, who suggested we try the veal. He did not disappoint us, ever since every trip to Murrells inlet inlcudes Old World. Try the veal!!

Someone from Charlotte NC told me the best Italian restaurant in the Carolinas is Old World. So on a business trip to the coast I dined here. The food is delicious and it will be the restaurant I go to whenever I'm in the area. Whoever wrote the review to go to Carrabba's next door must be crazy. I ate there once, it's fast food, chain-restaurant Italian. If you want authentic, fresh, delicious Italian food, go to Old World Italian Restaurant.

Very nice dining experience. George and family do a great job. Even Big Bob our waiter was entertaining. Seem to remember him from the Italian Schooner. George's son is the star of the show back in the kitchen. Great food and great prices. Enjoy.

You can't go wrong with Old World Italian. The food there is exceptional. It tastes freshly made and the tira misu can't be beat - even in Italy!! The house wine there is also exceptional. I like the New Zealand mussels in marinara on angel hair pasta. My husband always gets a chicken dish that has marsala wine in it. Go to Old World and enjoy yourself!!

This was our most enjoyable eating experience at Myrtle Beach. Our waiter was friendly and quite knowledgable about the Italian cuisine. When we were seated we were served a complimentary plate of bruschetta while he rattled off all the specials of the evening. The lobster stuffed ravioli was exceptional, while the veal and chicken dishes were also quite flavorful. We didn't think the meal could get any better until we ended our meal with Tiramisu. The ladies thought it was the best of ANYTHING they had ever experienced!!!! What more can I say. Do yourself a favor and spend an evening here. Reservations helped us to be seated right on time.

My husband and I recently tried this restaurant and we will be making it a weekly adventure. What a wonderful staff and now I know why everyone had a to go box. The amount of food for the money is well worth the little drive from downtown Myrtle Beach. The food was mouth-watering and hot. The homemade bread was to die for. The prices are average for the area and atmosphere a plus. This will be a place we take all our visitors. I have even called out of state to tell people that were making the trip not to forget to try this wonderful new experience.

We went with friends who knew the owner but we still had to wait in spite of having a reservation. The veal was very good but the portions were on the small side.

It's a nice little place but we went during the Summer when it was hot and the AC was inadequate. The menu was overpriced considering what you got.

Our friends love the place so we'll go again but we believe Carrabba's is much better.

We were in search of a great Italian meal, (no franchise chains!) and right next to Carabba's, we saw a non-descript store front with a packed parking lot.

We waited a bit for a table, but it was well worth it. Great service, excellent food, all freshly prepared by family.

House wine was superb, Sinatra music played in background.

Been going to the beach all my life (40+ yrs) never stumbled on this jewel, but will definitely go back and recommend it to others!!

We are locals, and have been going to "George's" Old World for nearly a decade. This is good authentic Italian, not "Americanized" Italian food. Small, friendly atmosphere. Any delays in seating only go to prove how popular they are - so relax on the couch, have a glass of wine and anticipate a great dinner.

We're from New York, and we're Italian, so when we go on vacation we are extremely picky about our Italian food. When we walked into Old World (we just refer to it as "George's place") it was like we were home. Great food all the way around, authentic NY Italian, and I recommend the Chicken Marsala... Oh yeah, order the Peroni beer. My husband drank that when he was stationed in Sardinia while he served in the Navy. I like it better than Heineken!
