We have a family of five. We were seated very quickly and the servers were very attentive. But that's as good as it gets. The chef was rather abrasive and didn't cook our order correctly he just kind of did what he wanted. The rice was AWFUL!! We live in a small town in Ohio and even they can make good rice. The shrimp was undercooked and flavorless. The fillet was fatty and not very good. The chicken was supposed to be hibatchi but the chef decided teriyaki instead. Gross. Their yum yum was not very yum yum. Overall bad food for high price. If any of you want a delicious Japanese experience go to Hana Japanese Steakhouse in Chillicothe Ohio. ( if you're ever in the area)

Everything was great. I ate here yesterday and the only flaw was sitting with people I didn't know. It's lots of food an easy on your pocket :) I'm glad I went and was lucky to make reservations and get to a table fast :)

We had the greatest server at Miyabi's in NMB last night. He was such a wonderful gentleman! He was efficient and kept our glasses full. All I can say is that Tim is awesome! They are lucky to have him.

I used to eat at Miyabi's sushi bar on restaurant row at least 3 times a month, but NOT ANYMORE! Taka a sushi chef seems like he is miserable. we used to ask for something to be added to our roll and he would do it with no problems. Now he doesn't even speak to anyone when they come in the door and will not customize our sushi order. Don't even get me started on the service there. It also used to be very good but now the girl who used to work in sushi bar is now in the dining room and everytime we go we seem to have another young waitress who knows nothing about sushi! It is not just me who has noticed this difference apparently others have to since the last few times I ate there hardly any other customers were in there eating. It used to be packed all the time. If I were the owners I would get rid of Taka because he is the reason you are not as busy as you once were.

My family and I go to this establishment at least once a month which is located on Restaurant Row in Myrtle Beach. We have not had bad food or bad service as of yet. The amount of fun we have is completely dependent on the people we are seated with. We have been seated with friendly and outgoing people and our evening has been fantastic. We have been seated with people who have their heads in their butts and our experience stinks which is in no way the fault of the chef. The chefs do a fantastic job trying to cater to each person seated before them. Although there are times the wait has been longer than it should be, its something to NOT make a huge deal over because that is the restaurant business and there are times things happen which can not be avoided. So, to all the people with their noses in the air when they walk into this restaurant or any other, give the chefs a break, lighten up and have fun. The dining experience is all about good food, good people and having a night to enjoy! So basically, if you are going out to dinner, realize a wait is in evitable and mistakes are made. Sooooo are you like...mistake proof and perfect? Try being in their shoes for once and see how perfect you are. All the good should outweigh the bad not the other way around. When a server makes a mistake, depending on how bad the mistake is, bring it to the attention of the manager, not the hostess, and dont complain looking for a free meal. Realize a nice and honest complaint will allow management to take the necessary steps to correct the errors the server made. Dont be nasty or hateful. A smile goes alot farther than demands.

On vacation at Ocean Lakes our family of 16 wanted to try Miyabi in Murrells Inlet. We called for reservations and was given 830. When we arrived we were told the wait time would be 20 minutes as they were running behind. We were sat down at 930. The waiter Tyler took the 8 adults order there was another wiater who took the order for the 8 kinds we had aged 12yr to 17yr. Tyler was very slow in bringing the soup, drinks ect. There were three cokes purchased at the bar where we kept the glasses as directed, however when the bill was received there was a charge for the drinks. We then ordered three hibiti chicken this was not listed on the menu , we were told they could do our order as requested. Our cook was Johnathan he was good. He began the three orders for chicken and we noticed he was making tereika, we brought this to his attention. He checked the ticket Tyler did not specify our request. The manager was brought to the table and stated she was sorry. We were cooked additional chicken which took another 15 minutes, by this time the rice and vegatables were cold. The others in our party were finished eating. We then had to wait at least 20 minutes for our check from Tyler who could not be found, He came to our table we told him we needed our bill, he began removing salt and pepper shakers he was totally in left field. We were never compensated for the service and the tip of 16% was still added to the bill. Tyler received at least $50.00 from our table for a tip, We feel the tip should have been reduced in half and Johnathan the cook given this amount. You would have thought this establishment would hire quality employees to deal with customers, or at least compensate the customer when there is a problem. Debbie Trull

We eat at Miyabi's sushi bar once every couple of weeks for several years. However the past couple of months the service has been HORRIBLE! We have had 4 new servers wait on us the past few months. I don't think any of them have ever waited tables before or know ANYTHING about sushi. I have seen sushi customers go to the bar to get there own drinks because the server was no where to be found. I have seen customers get up and leave due to waiting but never seeing a server. It used to be a great place to eat when they actually had good service. Taka the head sushi guy seems to be miserable. He barely acknowledges us when we come in. The girl that always used to wait on us in the sushi bar is now in the dining room working. I guess we will find a new sushi bar since the owners must not care about customers there.

The sushi bar isn't what it used to be. The new servers in there now know nothing about sushi or waiting tables. The one server we used to have in the sushi bar is now in the dining room. We drive from Lumberton, NC just to eat sushi. Tonight when we saw her in the dining room we left the sushi bar and just went to the dining room to eat sushi so she could wait on us, because we had received just bad service from the others in there. She told us she only works in sushi bar on Wednesday, so now I guess Wednesday will have to be our night to eat sushi!

As a local I have visited this restaurant with a group of seniors often over the past several years. At first the food was good, service excellent, and price affordable. Recently I found the beef full of fat, prices have gone way up, and service just adequate. I told our server about it and asked to speak to the manager. No manager appeared although he was in the area earlier. With the exception of the beef, the food was good. The server had his problems with drinks, spilling them on the cooking area and basically a hard time serving the soup. I was disappointed the manager ignored me as I was only trying to alert him to some food problems..

The 1st year we went to MB we tried Miyabi's and it was delicious. Our 2nd year back to Miyabi's my family and had to go back to Miyabi's - still just as yummy. We had left over food and when we got back to our condo with friends they tried our food and wanted to go so we also went a 2nd night!! Our 3rd year we stayed at OIB but we set aside a day to drive down to MB just so we could eat at Miyabi's. It was supurp as it had been in the past. We have ate at many hibachi resturants here in Ohio but none are as tasty as Miyabi's. The entertainment level is excellent, friendly staff and good eats! This past year our vacation as planned last minute to OIB and we couldn't fit Miyabi's into our rushed schedule so I guess we'll see you all in 2011 at Miyabi's!! You must try Miyabi's when you are on vacation in the MB area. Be sure to make reservations well in advanced - it gets pretty busy.

We ate at Miyabi's on Monday January 25th in the sushi bar. Our waitress took our drink order, carried our food to our table and that was it! She seemed way more interested in talking the guys who were making the sushi rather than checking on the customers eating the sushi. There were only 2 tables in the sushi bar that actually had people at them. We literally had to get the waitress attention for EVERYTHING! My friends coke was empty for 10 minutes before I finally got the waitress attention to bring her another one. After we ate we put on our coats placed our keys on the table hoping the waitress would pick up on this clear sign that we were ready to leave, but no such luck. We had to once again get her attention so that we could get our check. I would think with the economy the way it is and it being January in Myrtle Beach the waitress would have gone out of her way to take care of the customers in hopes of getting a nice tip, but this was not the case with our Japanese sushi waitress.

The absolute best food at the beach! We eat here every time we come to the beach, which is several times a year. The food is great, the cooks are highly entertaining; you can't ask for anything better. Get there early for the early bird specials & be prepared to have lots of yummy leftovers. We've given up on all the big buffet restaurants. None of them can come anywhere close to having the level of service & fresh food that you'll get at Miyabi.

We ate sushi Monday night at Miyabi's. The sushi was wonderful! The service however was not good. We had an Asian waitress and we really had to ask her for EVERYTHING! Never once did she check on us to see if we needed anything. I understand this if she were busy but we were a party of 4 and another table party of 2 were the only ones eating in the sushi bar. We had our coats on and were obviously done eating and we sat there for at least 15 minutes before we flagged her down to get our check. As wonderful as the food was the service was equally as bad. If we ever go here again we hope we do not get her as our waitress or Miyabi's wised up and decided to give her some more training. She seemed more interested in talking to the guys making our sushi than on taking care of her customers.

The food was "good" Japanese, nothing outstanding but I would certainly eat there again. The portions were HUGE, and being a healthy person, oil and butter were not used as much as I have seen with other Japanese restraurants. Everything else was on par with what you'd expect from this type of place. I'd recommend it.

If you go to myrtle beach you have to go here! My girlfriend and I love this place. We have tried a lot of different jap steakhouses and this one is by far the best and the cheapest! You cant beat the happy hour make sure you go before 530 during the week and 5 on the weekends and you can eat a whole meal for like 13 dollars. The service is always great and all of the chefs they have there are pretty creative. The quality of the food is amazing and the amount of food you get is unreal its like getting 3 meals in 1. If you go to myrtle beach you have to go here

My husband and I have been eating sushi for a long time. Not too long ago we discovered miyabi's sushi bar. The sushi is the best by far of any we have ever had. The guys that make the sushi are always very friendly and helpful. We usually have the same waitress(blonde named tracy) and she amazes us that she knows what we like to drink and the dressings on our salads, even though we only discovered miyabi's in november. They are usually really busy and how she remember little details about us still is amazing to us. A couple of times we have had a little asian server she was ok but very slow. We highly recommend miyabi's sushi bar!.

This is the BEST restaurant in the area. It is such a treat to go to Miyabi's and I would chose it over any other! I suggest calling for a reservation during the early bird specials; this is what my family does and the wait is very short. My husband and I are going this Saturday to celebrate Valentine's Day and I CAN'T WAIT !!!!!!!!!!!

If you like a Japanese Steakhouse for the entertainment and quality of food served go somewhere else there is very little show here they just cook the food and serve it the rice and chicken was loaded with so many sesame seeds that was all I could taste.

The food is quite good, but the service leaves alot to be desired. The wait staff always seems to have a pissed expression on their faces as if they are annoyed to have to serve. Very lukewarm reception. I've been here three times already and I think I'm done. I've had better sushi, (and clearly better service) as Islamorada.

These japanese steakhouse restaurants are always fun and great value. I suggest the early bird before 6pm and order the signature chicken and shrimp. Very reasonable and you will take a lot of leftovers home great food and great entertainment by the chefs at each table we usually go there at least once a month while wintering in mb .

Although we haven't been to Myrtle Beach in a few years, every time we went on vacation we stopped there. It is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. I have been to similar restaurants (Kobe, Koto) in Kissimmee, FL, Plattsburgh, NY, and Burlington VT but Kyoto's is still the best. Just love the white sauce they serve (get an extra bowl of the ginger salad dressing at the others which is the closest thing to Kyota's white sauce.) I always remember several of my family members bringing home leftovers (which I would take care of for them) from Kyoto's, but have seldom had any extra to bring home from the rest. Have also been to the Japanese restaurants at Barefoot Landing and Broadway, but they are not as good. The show the chef puts on is about the same as the rest. I really miss it!

My family and I visited the Miyabi Kyoto on June 24th on the advice of one of my wifes friends and the overall reviews on this page. My wife had a filet, lobster and shrimp, I had the filet, lobster and scallops, and our 14 year old son had the fish and shrimp. We felt the filet, shrimp, and scallops were ok, but nothing special. The lobster tasted rubbery, half cooked in some places and burned in others. My son ate very little of his dinner. disliked everything, said it tasted horrible and threw up in the bathroom. I didnt think it was that bad but certainly nothing special for the price you pay. I would not recommend this for kids unless you know they like hibachi typed cuisine. Our chef was not all that entertaining, although I saw some at the other tables who looked like they may have had a little more flair. I usually go to Nakatos when I go to Myrtle, where I have never had a bad or even so-so experience. I am not saying I wouldent try this establishment again, but for the price and my past experience, Nakato's is the place for me in Myrtle Beach.

They use to give great service and and It was the best place for japanese food around...Not now though..We went to Nakato's tonight and customer service is top priority!!! You do't get rushed to turn a dollar and you get seated on time~!!!! The sushi was great and you can't beat the service. Well, we read the reviews and had a guest who had previously dined with Miyabi's..but, what we didn't realize is that it is a MUST to call ahead to make a reservation for dinner seating!!! Unless, you have 2 hrs to waste waiting for your table. Good food, good chef/dining guest interaction, but the waiter was way too eager to get us up and on our way. A very disappointing experience.

The food was nothing special and the service was poor. I think for all the money that was spent at the restaurant, the end result would have been better. I will stick to the traditional places when I return to the beach

I love the food here. I think the management could use a bit of improvement. The early bird special I learned is not the same service as the regular. I visited one night and had a wonderful experience. 3 days later I came for the early bird where the chef was more like a fry cook and rushed us so with our food the servers seemed so rushed to clear your plates you dare not look like you were finished or your plate was gone. If you are going to have a early bird please give the same level of service and food. The sushi here is wonderful and the tempura is some of the best I have had anywhere.

My husband and I and my 2 children arrived around 7pm and while waiting to put our names on the list, overheard 2-3 people be told it was a 45 minute wait. When we got to the counter, we were told 1hr 45 minutes and the hostess shut the book and turned away, not taking our name. I then informed her we would wait.

As we say for more than 2 hours with our children, we watched and noticed some VERY interesting patterns. There is an "undesirables" list for this restaurant. We noticed that Blacks and people with young children were told times 2 or 3 times as long as white couples. Mind you, we are not black and noticed right away, as did others who were on this "undesirable" list as well.

After over 3 HOURS we were finally seated and they refused to give us a space for our son, saying he would be fine on a corner where he was able to reach the hot plates and stove. Finally a waiter seated us at a different table and apologized telling us that the hostess was "just like that".

I have to say that we were treated HORRIBLY and know that MANY people without reservations were seated ahead of us even though they arrived after us.

We will choose a different restaurant next time and suggest everyone else does too.

The kids are excited by the performance your chefs put forth and the food is always great. Keep up the good work so that we can enjoy it in the following years. As for the flying shrimp, my kids absolutely enjoy that feature and not once was it too hot as some others would write.

I chose Miyabi because I always wanted to try a Japanese Steakhouse. We loved it! I have had the steak and shrimp and the scallops (so tender) and they are delicious! We stop almost every time we are in town. The portions are huge and you will be bringing home leftofers. Call for reserrvations and try the early bird specials. We weren't disappointed and you won't be either!

But the people thats dowing Miyabi's some of your showed up without making reservations! Well you can't just do that unless your planning on going to the bar or just waiting 30 min or more but that too bad because Miyabi's is a great resturant little bit expensive if your use to buffets but you'll get over it! :]

My experience at Miyabi's was absolutely terrible. The manager there has no respect for anyone. He was really rude to me when I was waiting to go eat. I asked him how much longer I had on the wait and he was extremely rude with his answer. This is not the first time that this has happened with me and Jamie Wildes and if he's rude to me then i know he's also rude to others and something needs to be done about that! The food is always great, but there is very poor management going on in the restaurant.

Dear Sirs,
What a disappointment tonight. Your bathrooms were just about as deplorable as could be. I also was hit with a flying hot shrimp by one of your chefs tonight. Not only did it burn my arm and shoulder but also caused several stains on my clothing. What if the shrimp had hit the children sitting in the same vicinity as myself or hit someone in the eye. Not a good situation. I am truly disappointed in the management which was not really concerned with the situation. A truly poor situation!!! I will contact others on this matter.

I absolutely LOVED my experience at Miyabi's. It was my first time going to a Japanese restaurant like this one. We we got there, sat down at these tables and since I have never been before, I didn't know you had to go up and then sit down as if you were sitting on the floor. Our server was a doll; she served us promptly and kept the refills coming. The food was wonderful too. I ordered the Teriyaki chicken dinner, since I decided to be safe and eat rice and chicken. Our cook was hilarious and kept everyone at the table happy and all smiles. That rice was great and we got a huge portion. They also gave us three sauces to dip our meat in and one was the best out of all! I loved my chicken, but my friend's shrimp and steak was sooooo good!! We ended up getting takeout boxes because we were stuffed and had too much left over. Our server bought us boxes and placed it in the box for us. All in all, I enjoyed my first Japanese experience and I can't wait to go back!!!

We had an AWESOME time at Miyabi Kyoto last night! The food was excellent!!! I was really dissapointed with another Japanese restaurant in this area and I wanted some really good Japanese Hibachi Cuisine. Well I have found the right place! Our server, Lindsey was Excellent and very pleasant!

Then as a surprise, the servers came out and sang a Japanese Celebration song to celebrate our anniversary. All of the servers across the restaurant started singing to us. It was complete with a Drummer, Cupcakes, Flowers with a Make-A-Wish Candle and ofcourse a Polaroid Photo. (I thought you only get that treatment for a Birthday!) It was such a pleasant surprise! I had plenty to eat and still left with a take home box that was Full of great Food!! Miyabi Kyoto is by far the best Japanese restaurant in town!!! ENJOY!!!

We always enjoy eating at Miyabi's! The food is great and it is a fun place to eat. Occassionally our service isn't as great as other times. We usually request Tracey or Brenda we always receive top-notch service from them. The people that work at the hostess stand always seem to quote us the right time that it will take before we sit down. Often, we don't have to wait as long as they quoted us. If you don't like to wait make a reservation. Some cooks are more entertaining than others, but we've never had a bad meal here. I highly recommend Miyabi's!

We eat at Miyabi's on Restaurant row quite often. The food is always great! The entertainment from the chef is awesome. Our service is usually pretty good. After a few times with not the best service, we have learned to request a couple of different waitresses (Tracy or Brenda) because of their outstanding service! The staff at the front is always professional and quotes us the right time, every time. We have never been disappointed at Miyabi's!

It was a warm, sunny afternoon, and driving northward on Kings Highway brought the delightful aromas from Miyabi's into the car. We turned around, and made reservations. Our second meal was the second night later. Even my teenage son was delighted with the food and atmosphere. We have eaten at two other Miyabi's in different cities since. We are returning to Myrtle Beach for spring 2007 golfing, and will stop here again. We have told others from Cincinnati, and they have returned thanking us for the recommendation to enjoy a great meal.

My wife and ate here to celebrate our first anniversary living in South Carolina. We live nearby.

The food was decent and the portions were ample for the money. I think the sauces are too rich but that's a personal opinion.

I do have a negative observation: The young man who did the preliminaries like getting us our drinks and taking our order was somewhat surly and a little over-familiar in his attitude. He made several remarks about my not seeming relaxed which were not appreciated. He also was pushy about me ordering drinks. Since I am a ten-year, sober ex-alcoholic who is active in Alcoholics Anonymous, that didn't sit well with me, either. All in all, I don't think the cooks' funnyman routine is so great, either. It's pretty corny, repetitious and well -- lame!

The above incident was at the Miyabi restaurant near Murrells Inlet, SC on Saturday, October 28th at about 5:00 p.m.

Miyabi was a great experience. The food is great and you have plenty to take home. Each time I have gone, I have had a different waiter and each one was entertaining. I always take out of town guests here, because I know they won't be disappointed. Make sure you make reservations, so you don't have to wait to be seated.

We love going to hibachi restaurants and tried this one due to the excellent reviews we had read. The food was very good, but not as flavorful as other hibachi restaurants we had been too. Also, while the food was prepared at our table, the chef did not demonstrate some of the knife skills and cooking techniques that we have found customary in Japanese steak houses and this is part of the reason we normally go to these places. Overall rating: average.

I have to say that visiting Miyabi's was an excellent choice. This was my 2nd time visiting a Japanese Steakhouse. By far Miyabi's beat the other. The atmosphere where the bar was at was awesome, got great service there. We were told that the wait for the Suishi Bar was about 30 minutes and for the main tables were about an hour. We were called for the Suishi Bar in about 10 minutes where the suishi and Tampora was wonderful. By the time we ate our last bite there, we were called for the main table. The chef was amazing doing tricks and jokes. The food was great and we had enough to take home for 2 more meals, which even reheated was awesome. We had a great experience there and will be back at least once a month if not more. I recommend this restaurant for everyone.

My friends and I just came back from a weeks vacation in North Myrtle Beach and I have to admit I was a bit reluctant to eat at Miyabi's. That was because I had eaten at Japanese restaurants in the past where the food was prepared at the table and was entertaining, but I was not necessarily impressed with the food itself. Well I was in for a wonderful surprise.... Not only was the service good, but the food presentation was excellant and the food itself was delicious, and there was plenty of it. My friends and I would recommend Miyabi ten times over. A wonderful and entertaining treat..... Enjoy!!

After nearly two years of our last visit, we dined again. This place is worth every penny. If you love Sushi, be sure to ask your server for a menu. Truly delicious. The grill chefs do an outstanding performance. Plus the servers are excellent. Your kids will love it, as much as mine.

DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! Miyabi's is the BEST! Believe it. We drive down from Wilmington at least once a month and it's always better than the last time. We've tried every other Japanese Steak House in Myrtle Beach and none come close. The service, food, presentation are all outstanding. My only complaint is there isn't one in Wilmington.

I just had dinner with my family there and the service was horrible! We went to the Mrytle Beach for business/family trip and decided to eat there, BAD idea~ the hostess put us on the sushi bar when we requested for a table(7 people) (The hostess said it will only take 10 mins so that the waitress can catch up her serving other customers time and we waited for more than 30mins for the table and ended up saying that the table was already reserved for other people!) Is that mean the waitress can't service that many people? When the hostess and I had a discussion about it, she was saying it was not her fault but mine. Because we were short on time, we just ate at the sushi bar. However, the waitress so slow and never refill our drink or any requests until we asked her many times. I don't think we deserve this kind of service. It was a bad management. We spent a lot of money in that dinner and we deserve better. We will NEVER go to miyabis anymore.

My wife and I ate at Miyabi this past Saturday night. The place was busy and our wait was around 30 minutes or so. Nontheless, the service, the presentation and the food was outstanding. I had the chicken, beef & shrimp combo and my wife had the shrimp and scallops which were both excellent. The chef was very personable and entertained everyone at the table. I think that they are a bit stingy with their vegetables (zuchinni & onions) but the portions are of a respectable size. Don't miss this great restaurant when you are in Myrtle Beach!

My wife and I lived in NC a few years ago and visited at least once a month. We have moved back to PA and there is no Japanese Rest. in the Pittsburgh area that compares to Miyabi's. The food is great and service is better than average to those other restaurants on the Grand Strand. We always look forward to our vacation to MB and our first dinner is at Miyabi's. We might be moving to Charleston soon and we loof forward to our monthly ritual to the Best Japanese Steakhouse in SC...Miyabi-Kyoto.

My wife and i flew down for our anniversary to have dinner at this restaurant. We arrived 30 minutes prior to our reserved time and were still seated right away. The chef was outstanding making jokes and appealing to guests from age 2 to age 71 that were seated at our table. The waitress was always there to refill our drinks and the food was outstanding!!! A+++++++
