Nasty, nasty, nasty, worst French dip ever, raw meat served on a blood soaked bun, super expensive ice cream, the whole plaza is a dump, pawleys island ghetto, the place is very trashy, should be bulldozed ref: 28272 ![]() |

HORRID....went for lunch with my husband heard it was good.big disappointment..we ordered the fried green tomato appetizer $5 and we decided to share a Bullwinkle- roast beef with brie horseradish and mayo on a kaiser roll $8.50 plus they added $1 for a share plate fee. The sandwich came before the appetizer, the alleged kaiser roll was about three inches across and the roast beef was very fatty the brie was hard to locate the plate had broken pieces of stale potato chips on it as well, no presentation what so ever. The fried GREEN tomatoes were red and very under fried and soggy, had no flavor and served with bottle ranch dressing. It hurt to pay $17.86 for this disaster of a lunch. ref: 25775 ![]() |

We live near Charleston SC and often enjoy driving up to Myrtle Beach for a change in atmosphere. The dining in the Charleston area is outstanding and the choice of restaurants in Myrtle Beach
is mind boggling but with all the fine dining experiences we have had The Island Cafe has become one of our top choices for excellent food at very reasonable prices. We of course have not had all the meals offered and apparently some have not found their choice to be that good. but if you like shrimp you will not find better anywhere!!! I will not hesitate to drive there just to satisfy my shrimp craving. We have always been warmly greeted, rapidly seated, efficiently served and left with satisfied appetites and smiles on our faces. What more can one ask for. ref: 20649 ![]() |

I've given this place 2 tries and each time was sub-par. In fact, I got sick shortly after each visit. The staff is extremely unattentive, the food is mediocre. I'd rather pay a little more and frequent some neighboring establishments. ref: 15948 ![]() |

We've eaten here 4 times this trip (Feb 2009) and never had a bad meal... it's been 6 or 7 years and the groupers remain one of our favorite meals and worth the drive from N. Myrtle Beach. Our daughter had the ribs.... excellent and one of our sons had red rice and beans and turnip greens with the grouper fingers... we're already looking forward to returning next year. BTW Bistro 217 is owned by the same people. ref: 14018 ![]() |

My kids and I dine here often. The food is always good. The prices are affordable. This place severely lacks customer service. No body is really very friendly. But the food keeps us coming back. ref: 13258 ![]() |

As a local, we have a lot to choose from and on Sunday my husband and I decided that sandwiches "to go" would be the best. I haven't eaten at the Island Deli in a while and after they charged $8 dollars for a Reuben sandwich, $4 dollars EXTRA FOR FRIES and $2 for a sweet tea, I decided that this will be my last my visit. The lady who took our order did not tell us that there was a $4.00 up charge for fries...she just asked if we wanted them and silly me I thought they would be included in the $8.00 dollar sandwich. I know this is a resort town but people do live and work here and the dollar is just as important to us as anybody else. You lost me as a local forever and the food quality wasn't half what it used it be. Good luck and I will be over at Bistro 217. ref: 12887 ![]() |

May I start out this review saying the 2nd night of our week stay was in this restaurant, was seated in the back and had excellent service. Excellent rating on the first visit.
My send visit was the 5th night of our stay because a member of my party wanted to eat the crab cakes there again. They are excellent. However we were seated next to a child in the second seating area. Now we all have children, grown now, and we know that happens occasionally but it was loud.
The most unpleasant part of our dinner was our waitress, Georganna. She was only average. We had to request drink reorders. We !werent served bread until we asked. She never asked about our food or drink. Then we were slapped in the face with a 20% gratuity service charge! On our first visit we were not charged a gratuity, and I'm sure we tipped the lady 25% or more because she was excellent.
Very Good Food, Could be noisy, and watch for that waitress. She could ruin a great dinner in a great restaurant.

Overall experience very disappointing. The advertised 1 1/4 lb whole lobster night special turned out to be a scrawny little lobster tail. However, I must admit that I found the "fuel surcharge", that was added to my bill without any prior notification, to be very innovative! ref: 7057 ![]() |

If you unfortunately eat here, check your bill for a line item, "fuel surcharge", added along with the taxes, with no prior notice or explanation. (Not in menu, no signs, nothing)
A sly rip-off!!! ref: 6595 ![]() |

I eat here all the time, being a local. Their specials are wonderful and some of the items on theur menu are just the best. I have found some inconsistancy in some of their menu items. Sometimes they are wonderful and some times they are not. Their house wines are usually a good value and a pretty good size for the money. There is a casual atmosphere and service is usually fairly fast. ref: 6053 ![]() |

For the money and convenience I would recommend the Island Cafe. There isn't much fancy about the place but the food is a good family value, especially for lunch while shopping at the local stores or a hardy meal after a day at the beach. ref: 5430 ![]() |
