Been going to area for 40 years, have moved this to the top of my preferred restaurants, primary on food quality and its preparation. Real value. Properly priced it replaced lee's who allowed their quality to deterioate and prices were raised much too high, no longer go there. I have found no better restauant in area the hansers. You get good southern hospitaliy an along with the best she crap soup and clam chauter in area. There sauted fan-tail shrimp it the best I have eaten in any city i've been to.

They don't just do seafood, either. There is a variety of excellent foods, most made from old family recipes - and that's the best kind! It is a family owned place, and the service and atmosphere were very nice. Our food was served in a timely manner, and the server (very pretty) was always checking to see if we needed anything. This isn't a fast food place, and I don't remember seeing a dollar menu. But, if you are looking for a nice place to sit and have supper, for the family or to impress a date, you will not go wrong in choosing the Hanser House.

We recently decided to stop in at this restaurant during a golf trip me and my buddies were on. Our first time there, the food was okay and the waiter was great. We came back a few nights later and requested the same waiter, but was refused. We insisted that we have him again, and was the sole reason we came back. We really don't get it, what ever happened to southern hospitality? Bottom line- food okay, prices were out of sight, waiter was great, but management needs to review their priorities in terms of customer service.

Please don't listen to the previous post. Hanser House is a great family restaurant. My family has been eating there since she opened. My wife even waited tables there while she was in school. Mr and Mrs Hanser insist on a spotless kitchen. (It is scrubbed every night and sanitized) The food is always fresh. She often buys straight off the boat. I know my father used to sell to her when he was a commercial fisherman. The food is straight up Southern seafood fare. If you want a tourist trap and atmosphere this definitely is not it. If you want great food at a good price give it a try. We ate there last week and the service was great as always. Land under the sea is my favorite dish.

My husband and I ate at the Hanser House tonight. It was awesome, not just the food but also the service. I had the blackened seared tuna, cooked to profection. My husband had the stuffed flounder, stuffed with cradmeat..The food was outstanding. We like to come and try new things because their menu is so huge, there is just so much to choose from. We have never had a bad meal here. And we can't wait to go back on Friday for their prime rib!!!!

This is an average restaurant for the area. The quality of the seafood is on par. They don't offer anything unique. If you go in off season, they are fine, but not exceptional. There are better restaurants and there are worse restaurants in the area. The menu is diverse enough to satisfy most tastes. The problem develops when they get busy. They are completely I'll equipped to handle a lot of business. Wait times increase to unacceptable (60-120 minutes) and food comes to you cold. Don't expect apologies or even a facade of friendliness during these times, because you won't find it here.

Food was good but make sure you ask the price of anything you order special. I asked for 2 side dishes, but they had things I could not eat so they offered me something else and it ended up being $18.99!!

Our Red Hat group (27) ate at the Hanser House today after enjoying a show at the beach. Granny could not have been more thoughtful and accomodating. The servers were outstanding. No negative comments were heard about anything at the restaurant. Lots of praise was given for the choice. The food was delicious and served very quickly for the size of our group. The portions were more than most could eat. Most of us ordered from the Early Bird menu which had a great selection and was reasonably priced.

We enjoy eating at Hanser House at least twice while we are at the beach. The grilled shrimp and scallops are to die for. It's the first place we eat at as soon as we arrive at the beach. I don't even have to look at the menu because I decided what I was going to eat there 300 miles before we arrived.

My wife and I stay at Litchfield Beach every year and we always make time for Hanser House. The atmosphere is very nice, quiet, and clean. The food is fantastic and plentiful! Their prices may be slightly higher but the quality food and service make up for it. Besides, go for the early bird specials to save a few bucks! The hush puppies ROCK!

Excellent dinner and the server was on top of everything I think her name was Crystal. There was so much food I took home enough for two more meals. The she crab soup was the best I've ever had. My grilled seafood was cooked just right. I wanted to try a homemade dessert but could not hold it. That just means I will return soon. The best dinner for your money. They have a very large menu. I have eaten there many times their steaks are very good but their prime rib is the best. You must go here!

To some this restaurant may be a little pricey, but the food is well worth every penny! The she-crab soup was the best I have ever tasted! The service was outstanding. We were greeted and seated promptly in a very friendly manner. Our server was very patient with us as we scrolled over the menu. I am only giving this restaurant 5 stars because that's as high as they'll let me rate it. I highly recommend The Hanser House

We love this place!Everything is always great- simple dishes with FRESH seafood. So tired of getting frozen shrimp/fish when we live on the coast. The grilled shrimp is divine.Scallops are giant. My husband changed things up last week and had the prime rib-it was unbelievable!Huge portion, cooked perfectly, melted like butter in my mouth. The leftovers made 2 deliciuos sandwiches the next day.Do not go for the hype of the "high end' places around- the best FOOD is at Hanser House!

We enjoy nice restaurants with good service and excellent food. This was the best meal we had on our vacation. A very sweet, wonderful family-run business - the owner greeted us and made us feel especially welcome. Our blackened fish was delicious and my husband's fried chicken was enough for two people! The shrimp salad had at least 25+ shrimp. Try the key lime pie or warm homemade brownie with ice cream for dessert. This place was marvelous! Be sure and add the Hanser House to your list of places to eat.

Excellent restaurant. All of the staff are extremely friendly. The building is very spacious, and I have never had to wait more than five minutes. My favorite dish is the stuffed flounder, filled with crab meat, and covered in the seafood cream sauce. It is heavenly, although I could just make a meal from the hushpuppies. It is refreshing to find such a delicious and personal restaurant in a tourist area. I absolutely love this restaurant and eat there regularly.

You can't beat the Hanser House. My wife and I have been going here for as long as they have been open. I would call this classy, but comfortable, family-style - where the owner many times greets and seats you! A homey and very warm, clean atmosphere with plenty of room for your party, family, or just two. The bar service and drink quality/value is excellent. The food and service is superior to the majority of the Strand and Murrell's, plus it won't beat your wallet. Everything has been highly consistent, whether in the afternoon or evening. We can't wait to go back!

My experience at the Hanser House was wonderful. They have the best She Crab soup, you also have to have the Land Under the Sea entree. It's a 12oz ribeye topped with grilled shrimp and scallops with a seafood cream sauce on top. They are family owned and the waitress and staff make you feel at home.
