The Hanser House is overall a nice little restaurant. The waiter was one of the best waiters I had ever had. Before the meal the adults were served salad and the kids were served homemade apple sauce, and a delicious basket of hush puppies found its way to our table. The childs menu was a bit small making it hard to please the seven year old. My food was average although you could tell that the chicken was homemade. The french fries were yummy but the salt tastes weird. I managed to steal some of my relative's popcorn shrimp which were excellent. My friend got the shrimp and grits which was a bowl of shrimp with a half cup of grits (not vice versa). At the end of the meal the kids took their paper plate out of their red dish and found it was in fact a frisbee which was a neat little surprise. Although I did find it to be overpriced (2 adults and 3 kids for about $80 not including the tip) and a bit oddly decorated (but I gave it two stars instead of one because all of the decorating were special momentos from the owners past). Sorry the reveiw was so long.

We ate at Hansers on our first night on the Grand Strand. It was Sunday evening and looked promising...except for the bite-sized hushpuppies...it wasn't. My wife got the daily catch fish dinner (grouper) and it was mediocre at best. My flounder sandwich tasted a bit too fishy...you know what I mean. The onion rings are cut thin and then fried in a mass that leaves a lot to be desired...they were under seasoned and greasy and just not what you expect at a good family run restaurant. All in all, Hansers was a huge disappointment, with the exception of the hushpuppies...those were absolutely FABULOUS. The homemade tarter and cocktail sauce are also worth the calories. Go to Murrels Inlet and you'll get a better meal.

This is one of our favorite restaurants! We love to go on Friday nights when they have the prime rib special. They give you so much food, it usually takes 2-3 plates for your meal. The hush puppies are to die for. One of the more reasonably priced restaurants in the area. We love the Hanser House!

This used to be a great place to eat locally. Something bad seems to have happened here. Hushpuppies are usually brought to your table automatically, but had to ask for them. They were horrible - overdone, dark, hard and greasy. Grilled seafood platter included flounder - mediocre with way too much salt; creek shrimp - must have been tossed in soy sauce so extremely salty - they didn't look or taste grilled; crab cakes were good. There was one server for about 10 tables. It was Valentine's evening and it was such a disappointment. Now we know why their parking lot seemed a little empty.

Only waited long enough for preparation of seating to be arranged for 6 of us. Ordered the fresh Grouper, fried. It was delicious. Husband ordered the Jambalya, and it was great! Childrens menu chicken strips were tasty. Fish tasted fresh and the breading was delicious. Hushpuppies were hard to resist.
