Food was OK and well-priced considering the location. These are the best burgers in North Myrtle Beach? I would hope not. I will return for the beer and wings... not the burgers.

I love the HB Joes in surfside but when we decided to eat at the North Myrtle beach location, we were very disappointed. Surfside location had better food, better service and offered us a better experince all together! SURFSIDE location 100 times BETTER!

After reading below, I am at a losss. My experiences, and the 8 people with me, were outstanding!!!!!! Old style hamburgers with a great old flavor. Fries were very good, Beer was cold and very refreshing. We all loved the atmoshere!!! With all the places to eat at, you would think that you would not repeat a restaurant, WE DID!!!! Great both times. Service was never lacking and the elderly Gentleman that we spoke with made the atmospere compleat. We would recommend to anyone and when we come to the beach, we will be back at Hamburger Joe's!!

As a local, I have eaten at just about every "hamburger" joint in MB. We really enjoy HJ's. The thing is though it's a different type of hamburger. If you are looking for a thick, stacked, huge type burger, then Red Robin's is where you should try. When you're not quite as hungry or just want an HJ burger then this is where you should go. I guess you just have to try it to understand. The burgers are very tasty and juicy. It's a local's favorite spot to eat.

This is possibly the grossest meal I have had since I last ate in my high school's cafeteria. The hamburgers are boiled in their own grease with no evidence of browning. The "hamburger steak" is served with grilled onions that never saw a grill. The fries are made from frozen french fries which I can prepare better in my oven at home. What a disappointment for our last meal at Myrtle Beach.

This is our first time to the Myrtle Beach area, and we noticed Joe's on the way to our condo. Decided to stop by on another day because they looked a little bit packed. GREAT FOOD!!!! We had the sweetest waitress with a great southern hospitality attitude. The prices were decent. We walked in and were seated almost immediately. great laid back atmosphere. apparently almost 7grand on the walls in dollar bills (we had to ask!). Definitely would go back again! Actually we did today for lunch. We had been out to eat almost every day since we got here and this was the first place with very good food. Very kid friendly as well. Owner even walked around to make sure everyone was ok, refilled drinks, took care of our table, and sat and chatted for a little bit :)

I just got back from eating a Hamburger Joes. The pulled pork sandwiches are awesome. This is a diner style type of establishment with good food at a great price! One dollar draft light beer...you can not go wrong. Great place for a family to eat out at..salads, wings, burgers, pulled pork, fries, onion rings etc.

The burgers are the best i have had in my life.Their breakfast sandwiches are served on their own hamburger rolls and a great in a pinch. On the walls there is memrobilia including old license plates. Its the closest you will get to good old fashoined east coast barbeque. I give Hamburger Joe's a rating of 5. By the way their fries and rings are the bomb. You gotta go give it a shot.Once you go there you will be a returning customer for years to come.

We have a group of 5 couples who go to Joe's atleast once on our trip to O.I. in May and at least once during our trip in October. Some of the time we are able to make two trips to Joes. This is some of the best food for the price that we have found . While reading some of the other reviews I just had to wonder if maybe the problem was with the patrons instead of the wait staff. We recomend Joes to folks all the time and feel great about it.

I enjoyed Hamburger Joe’s (HJ). I came a bit skeptical and with a jaundice eye due to all the 4 and 5 star ratings but overall it is a good place to eat, clean and generally friendly. The older male host (not sure if he is the owner or what) could do more on making people feel welcome. There is something about a place when you get asked by management (or the owner) how things are and did you enjoy it. I expected it to be more then a “feed you and get them out place”. Very fast service overall and attentive. I was worried when I first came in since the waiter was abrupt and it wasn’t crowded at all. There was a little scrap—about a take out order that was lost—in front of me (I was at the counter). No way should this happen. Plenty of room in the HJ by Barefoot, it appears to be new and a nice atmosphere and setting. If it wasn’t for the GPS I would not have found it since it isn’t visible from 17. I was disappointed with the O-rings. They were good but I was hoping for homemade…I just assumed they would have other then bagged. I am generally a burger snob (a hater of Fudr..) but I would go back but order a double. I was very full with a single and the o-rings however.

We had heard great things about Hamburger Joes and decided to go there a couple of weeks ago on a Monday night. We were seated immed. since there were not many people there. We thought the drink prices were great and the items on the menu looked pretty good too (- esp. since we had a 3 yr. old with us.) After a less than happy server some what took our drink order (she said they did not have any juice or milk for our daughter), we waited approx. 6 minutes for her to come back. After asking about the wings, and burgers, we got a less than happy answer - but we ordered them anyway. Then when we recvd. our food - I thought my burger was the child's burger because it was rather small... and the hot wings were only medium. After our server came back, we told her about the wings and she then said that some people do say they are rather mild. WHAT? We had wanted super hot wings.... uugh. Anyway, we thought the drinks were good and the display of dollar bills hanging from the walls & ceiling made us smile- but other than that, we will not return.

We go to myrtle beach every march and october, and eat at "joes" at least once every trip. The burgers are good, the onion rings great, the beer and wine cold, the service good, and the price is right. It's always fun to see how many new dollar bills are on the walls since the trip before..

I go to NMB once a month and have eaten here a few times. Average burger at an above average price. Burgers are small and there are not very many options. I asked for a double, but was told that they couldn't do it. Since the burgers are small and thin, why not offer a double cheeseburger? That is not even an option here. It should not be difficult to pile 2 patties on a bun.

I thought the prices were reasonable and the food was well worth the price. It sure is better than the mcdonalds or wendy's burgers! We even left there with 4 "Bite My Buns" t-shirts Can't wait to go back again next year.

We go to Hamburger Joe's everytime we go to N. Myrtle Beach. We love the cheeseburgers with mustard, slaw, chili and onions. Also blackened bologna with onions and chili. Great sweet iced tea - something you will never find anywhere except the SOUTH. Whoever prefers Wendy's over Hamburger Joe's must be from the NORTH and don't know any better. The only thing they don't have but need is BUD SELECT and the rating would go even higher. Denver, North Carolina

I don't get it. Concerning atmosphere & flavor...nothing exceptional. Actually, I find burgers/dogs from my kitchen or grill and from chains much better. Quantity/volume is small and price too high, especially for the size of burgers, fries, rings etc.

Service wasn't the best either. To sum it up...I've had worse, but I've had a lot better in amount and flavor of food, atmosphere and service. Why go back?

My Husband and I enjoyed the wings at Hamburger Joe's. We ordered the Hot Wings and the Golden Wings and for the price it was excellent taste and quality. The drinks were also pretty cheap. We almost ended up eating at the wrong "Joe's". Joe's Bar & Grill is very close to Hamburger Joe's and the GPS seemed to think it was the same as Hamburger Joe's. We walked in to Joe's Bar & Grill and couldn't find the wings on thier menu that we had read about and the price was very expnesive. That's when we decided to walk out and search for Hamburger Joe's which ended up being well worth the search. We would deifnitely go back to Hamburger Joe's the next time we are in Myrtle Beach.

This was the third year in a row for us to eat at Hamburger Joe's. It is just up the street from the hotel we stay at. Joe himself was there and is a friendly guy. My son and I got the fried bologna and onion rings. It was very good. It's pretty hard to find fried bologna on a menu anywhere. My wife got a bowl of vegtable soup. She said that it could have had a bit more flavor, but not bad overall. We plan on being back in the area in June and will visit Hamburger Joe's again. Hard to beat for the price.

I could barely finish the burger, so I could assume the people who are saying that there is not enough food, would probably fit in better at a place that resembled a 'trough,' rather than an eatery. For the most part, you will find everything to be right on par. Take a look at where the people are from that give the bad reviews.

I made my first trip to Hamburger Joe's this past January after seeing a commercial on TV. This is a great place for a quick bite to eat after a day of golf. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and quick service. For those reviews complaining about the size of the burger, sit at the bar and watch them make it. They are not stingy on the beef, it's the cooking method that makes it Hamburger Joe's. I ate at Joe's 3 times during this visit, and will be back in a week with a group of golfers for some good burgers, cheap beer and good company. If you're looking for 4 or 5 stars, don't bother, but if you want a burger, beer and good company, you'll enjoy it. Cheap, cheap, cheap place to eat.

Just had to write after seeing some lousy reviews. We eat here every time we're in N.M.B. and have NEVER had a bad time or a problem with our food. Our burgers were always great, just enough to feel satisfied, the onion rings were to die for every time. The hot dogs are the best around, very tasty. We are going in a few days and looking forward to our lunch at H.J.'s. I can't imagine what was going so wrong to see some people have such a bad experience??? Have also been to the new one in Wilmington, NC and it was just as good as N.M.B., SC.

We were at the opening of the original Hamburger Joe's while on vacation many, many years ago. Had a great time, good food and good service. We loved sitting on the large outside deck and often had the company of the local squirrel to join us for french fries! The new place is just as nice although the atmosphere in not quite the same, but it's getting there, new place seems a bit sterile and noisy. The food is still great for the price and service is quick and friendly.

When Joes moved to the new location, we felt it acutally went downhill. The burgers are overpriced and not as good. Ever since "Scott" one of the guys left(one of the cooks), we didn't like the burgers as much. I guess they had to raise the prices to help pay for the new building. I liked the old small building anyway. We used to go to Joes everytime we came to the beach which was very often as we have a condo behind them. I hope they get better in the future so we can visit again.

I guess we expected something different. Like many choices of hamburgers fixed different with different toppings. Just a regular thin hamburger, nothing special. Barbecue was very good. Onion rings wern't anything special, good fries. Better place to go for lunch than for dinner. No dishwasher needed there! Everything paper and plastic! Very reasonable prices. It was a cold evening and the fireplace was on and felt wonderful!!

He ordered burger & rings and I ordered a dog & fries. We were both still hungry when we left there...and we don't have to eat a buffet to fill us up!. Food was good and decent prices. Family of 5 for around $30 (3 hamburgers, onion rings, pulled pork sandwich, chicken sandwich and drinks). The key to eating out in MB and NMB is to eat early. We ate here around 4:30 PM and got seated right away. By the time we left, it was packed with a 40 minute wait. Go early! The barbecue sauce on the table is a vinegar based sauce. If you're not used to it, don't order the barbecue. If you like this type of sauce, it's delicious.

We went to Hamburger Joe's in the summer of 2006. The place was pretty cheap but the burgers were small and the french fries were served in a small plastic bowl, so there couldn't have been that many in there. If your trying to feed people who don't eat that much you should come here, but if you want a place that will give you a lot of food I don't suggest it!!

I have not been to Hamburger Joe's since last summer, but I didn't want to ever go back after then. The new location actually seems smaller. There was no place to wait inside. How can you have a place at the beach and not have a place inside to wait to be seated when it gets so hot in the summer. The wait was too long. Then, the food was just mediocre. I thought the wings were pretty dry and didn't have a lot of meat on them. Also, what's the deal with only getting one free refill on drinks? I don't see what all the fuss is about with this place.

This was my first time visiting Hamburger Joes. In the past, I would eat dinner at Joes Bar and Grill and wonder about what they served across the road. I missed an economical treat!

The hamburgers were great and the wngs are the best ones around. The hot wings are really hot! I like hot, but these were too hot for me. I am sure that mild or medium would be hot enough for most people.

We eat early, so most of the patrons were senior citizens. Senior citizens know where to find good food at good prices. I ate at every price point during my stay; this was the cheapest meal. I will definitely return for a quick early meal after a day of sightseeing.

You people have to be kidding me!! WHERE IS THE BEEF !! I have never seen a thinner burger in my life. The waitress all but refused to take my money to the cashier for me and the fries were Food Lion brand quality at best. That may work for some crazy reason down in North Myrtle But I think they will find the Wilmington location profitability to be commensurate with the amount of meat in their burgers.

I used to go to HJ's every Thursday night when I lived at the beach. It was a true "locals only" haunt. Unfortunately; the gerries (geriatrics) found out about the good food and cheap prices. They started taking over the place between 4-6. It was still great for late night though.

HJ's has now moved to a larger and I suppose better building. No doubt due to their success. I went back last Summer and took my family. The food was great, the service was outstanding but it's now turned into another Tourist mecca. We used to know all the waitress's by name and they knew what we drank and ate without asking. I guess everything changes. I did have 1 complaint-The beer batter onion rings used to be GREAT!!! I ordered them while we were there and was very disappointed. I received a very small order of what looked to be Burger King type onion rings. I didn't eat them. Bring back the hand dipped beer batter!!

Hamburger Joes is a favorite not only for individuals but for groups as well. Always visit whether I am alone or guiding a group of seniors. Food is always consistant and good!!!! Not prefab burgers that we all are forced to eat, but good wholesome handpattied burger. They are regular size not, gut bombs. It is a must to have some of their gold wings as well! They are the best wings I have ever eaten!! Not too spicey but a wonderful unusual pleasing flavor. Onion rings are great. They are traditional style nothing fancy and the fries are the same. Too bad they don't put a little more time into these two items and they would have it all. Oh yes, don't forget about the fried bologna sandwich. Just like you used to fix at home. It does get crowded, but that is because it is so good, and all the locals go there, and it is noisey, because everyone is having a good time eating and talking. Very kid friendly. If you want good bugers and such, by all means, schedule a trip to Joe's!!!

When we were not happy with our seating because of some smokers, the manager (can't remember her name, short blonde hair) happily moved us right away and she did it with a smile and then came back latter to check on us to make sure everything was alright. Everything was better than alright.....it was excellent. The Gold wings were the best!!! Our waitress was outstanding too and very beautiful... I think her name was Joni. I just had to write this becuase of the two negative reviews. I have been going to Myrtle Beach since I was a child and am now 51. I found Hamburger Joes 2 years ago and wish I had found it sooner. If you are tired of burgers so big you feel like you need a chain saw and a shovel to eat it, this is the place. It's an honest to GOODNESS burger you can get your hands and your mouth around. VERY VERY good. Price may be a tiny bit steep, but I never return without stopping to enjoy. It's worth it. If you would like to enjoy a very good burger, a regular burger or cheeseburger not meant for the "champion eater/stuffer", but for someone that can sit and enjoy your food, Joes is the bomb and it's off the chain.I will be back in September, and this time I intend to try the wings becuse of the other reviews, but I'll have to work them in after my cheeseburger!!! I guess the lady that thought she could get a better burger at McDonalds must live at McDonalds and doesn't know what a real hamburger is supposed to be. Go early if you can, if not it's worth the wait. My girlfriend and I eat for about $15 including onion rings we split, my beer and her softdrink, tip, title, tax and tags. A relief from the $40-$50 meals we pay for alot at the beach. Great place. Thanks Joes!!! In the words of Arnold...... "I'll be back................

Our family ate at Hamburger Joe's this summer and we enjoyed it VERY MUCH!! The burgers were really good but they weren't very big but it was enough for me! It was kind of cheap but you had to purchase your fries, or onion rings, and drinks seperately. I think everybody should try it!!!

Excellent food! My family looks forward to visiting Hamburger Joe's with each vacation to the beach. Hamburger Joe's is well on it's way of becoming a Myrtle Beach icon.

We live for these burgers! Our family has been coming to Myrtle Beach for seven years from NJ. This is usually our first stop to eat! Try the burgers "all the way!" You'll find yourself making a return trip before you leave to head home. We love Hamburger Joes! Yummy in my tummy!

I can't believe that anyone would give this place an "Excellent" for value. These are the most overprice hamburgers and hotdogs I have ever seen. I don't understand what the big deal is.

A bright spot on the menu is the buffalo wings. Huh, who knew? Best thing at Hamburger Joe's is chicken.

Casual atmosphere and great prices.... We make a point to visit Hamburger Joes when we are at North Myrtle Beach or Sunset Beach, NC. The burgers are wonderful and it you've not tried their wings there great. Especially the hot ones.... if you like HOT wings.

Terribly overrated. Save your money and go to Wendy's! Hamburgers were thin, but premium priced. Onion rings were the pre-fab, frozen type. The hamburgers were served on recycled paper saucers that were hardly large enough for the hamburgers, so toppings tended to fall off onto the table. There were six of us, and we were provided with two small containers that were supposed to be some sort of communal source for dipping into ketchup or something. We were definitely not impressed and regretted that we had wasted an evening meal at Hamburger Joe's.

Best hamburgers I've ever had! The newly remodeled building is perfect for a tasty lunch or for enjoying a sunset dinner on the patio. The hamburgers are unbeatable. My family has been going to MB since I was a tot and we're always sure to make at least one trip to Hamburger Joes. The buffalo wings are also very good. The place does get very busy and understandably so. Try it out at lunch... the wait may be shorter.

This is a very unique place to go. Everything we got was great and not expensive. Great place for family or friends especially if you are on a budget. Lots of TVs for sports. Cash only no credit cards. We are likely to return on our next visit.

We stayed at the Beach Cove last week and noticed the parking lot at Hamburger Joe's was always full. We stopped by Friday evening and enjoied it very much. My family of 3 ate for $23.00. That's less than it would cost one of us at one of the seafood joints. Last but not least, it was very good. My son got the fried bologna and thought it was great. We will visit Joe's again on our next visit to the beach..

For all of you that think Hamburger Joe's burgers are not good - shame on you! They are the best burgers on the beach. Why would anyone want a quarter pounder these days anyway? The food is great, the prices are affordable - geez... a burger, drink (even beer!) and fries are no different than fastfood prices - but the food is 100% better! I live in North Myrtle Beach and I am a regular customer. Go Joe's!!

OVER-RATED!!!! 4 bux for a cheeseburger with a patty as thin as the slice of cheese on it. NOT GOING BACK & I live here. That's sad. No wonder y'all can afford that nice spot on the marsh with what you're saving on BEEF! Buy a cow man!!
