Fresh Catch Seafood House & Market

Seafood Restaurant in Myrtle Beach

Fresh Catch Seafood House & Market
Rated: 3.6 out of 5 with 12 Reviews

Only fresh local seafood served in a new, ultra clean, simple and spartan atmosphere. Reminiscent of the way seafood restaurants started in the very early days in Myrtle Beach, Calabash, and Murrells Inlet.Adjoins a new seafood market owned by the same person. Seafood Platter (fried or broiled), which is bigger and tastier than most other restaurants' offerings, is $13.95 which includes whiting or spot, oysters, scallops, shrimp and deviled crab liked it used to be. A combination of two choices like shrimp and scallops costs $11.95. Oyster roasts for $16.99 and seafood Po Boys for $5.45. Served on paper plates with a smile.

We were the only ones in the restaurant, we arrived at 8 pm and ordered. Our food arrived in a timely manner and it tasted really good. I was shocked that our bill was so much. For TWO adults (13.99 per adult) and ONE child plate (price unknown because we were NOT provided with a children's menu, the server just told us what was on the children's menu and we ordered from her), two soft drinks, and two children's lemonades our bill was $42.00. Before we were finished eating (8:45 pm) they were turning lights off and asking if they could take our plates. They said that they were closing because business was slow. My daughter didn't even get to finish her food because the server was standing over us waiting on us to eat and wouldn't leave us alone to finish our meal. All the other reviews were good for this restaurant and I wanted to find a place with fresh seafood but we did not have a good experience.

My husband and I just ate here for the first time tonight. Was very clean in the dining room and the woman to great us at the door was nice. I had a combo...flounder and fried scallops. The scallops were very very good...lightly breaded and just very tastey! The flounder was good too but I really loved the scallops!! Came with hushpuppies(they were just average, a little bland) and coleslaw and aslo fries. My husband got the scallop basket and he was very happy with his meal too. we also got the onion rings and they were good too. It was all fried but just lightly breaded which left us able to really taste the seafood. I will definitly come back as long as the food is still good!!

We visit Fresh Catch every time we come to MB. I love the atmosphere--I want good, fresh food, I don't want to stand in a line around the corner, I don't want to feel like my kids aren't welcome and I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for great seafood. The place is very clean and fits all those requirements. Seeing that all the reviews are from locals is a big plus, too. I grew up near MB and this place is top-notch, reminiscent of the Calabash-style seafood that I remember, and yet, is so hard to find down there now. We had the fried combo platter, broiled combo platter (both containing fish, shrimp, oysters, scallops and a deviled crab), shrimp basket and clam basket and wings. We had baked potatoes, fries and onion rings (awesome onion rings!). Free refills on the drinks is a nice value, too. Everything was so fresh, hot and just overall great at a great price! Thank you!

We are local and go here for the food and service. It is top notch, can't be beat as far as fried seafood goes. If atmosphere isn't a priority for you, this is your place. It is always clean, just not great on decor and ambience. The prices are great and we prefer their food over Calabash anyday!!!

Owned by master seafood chef Franklin McCray. He is a former Rice Planters and Gullifield chef. I trained him to cook when I worked at The Rice Planters Restaurant in 1972 and 1973. This is the real old style Myrtle Beach seafood. Guaranteed the best you have ever had.

Boy, am I glad I read the reviews! you remember the delicate taste of fresh seafood and you will get it here.my wife and I decided on the seafood platter and it was delicious.1/4 to 1/2 dollar size scallops, nice size oysters and shrimp with 2 large pieces of fish that I couldn't quite finish. Clean, rather small place with a down home family feel about it..

If you want good seafood for your money and save money for other meals go here. The food is great for your money. There was 5 of us from Four Oaks / Smithfield North Carolina. The seafood Platters were great, 5 different seafoods. Three of us decided to have the Fried fresh Spot Plates, 5 spots per plate plus 2 vegetables. Stop losing your money at these Seafood buffet places that everybody has there hands in. Go for FRESH and Great Seafood. Yes they do serve steaks to I haven't tried them. But when you taste the seafood you will not want a steak. GO EAT THERE!!!!!!

We've lived in the area for more than five years and think the shrimp and crab cakes are some of the best anywhere on the beach. They are great every time! If you want great food at a great price and not concerned about the atmosphere, this is a great place to go. It's clean and the service is better than a lot of other places around. We go for the food! Check the hours before you go - they are a little odd.

This restaurant is a gem!! The service is the best around. Everyone is cheerful and friendly. We drive from Surfside Beach SC to eat here because the food is delicious! The scallops are always perfect. The fried shrimp is the best in SC. Very casual and friendly! Well worth the trip!!!

We live nearby and watched the building going up. Honestly thought, it took us a year to try it because the hours never seem to fit our schedule. Once we finally tried it, we were hooked. I'm normally not a seafood eater, but their fried shrimp is so good I have it everytime. I would recommend this to anyone looking for good, fresh seafood!

Best fried seafood on the beach. Their country cooking specials during lunch are great.
