You've got to stop in and have lunch with LuLu. This place has the best fried balogna sandwich. Simple menu...place your order, grab a booth and they'll take care of you. Ambiance is great for those who love beach music! ref: 19895

We visited this club during our recent vacation. It's strickly a shagging club, a dance out of the 50's, and everyone sits around and drinks, talks, smoke's and dances. The whole place smells like an old beer parlor (pee) and mold and mildew. Don't know how they could stand it, the smoke hangs about a foot off the ceiling. It was hard to breath. The food is just hamburger, hot dogs, and fries and was OK, nothing to die for or to write home about. We stayed about one hour and had to leave. The staff seemed to be friendly and gave you good service. Just not our kind of place, you need to be a shagger and a heavy drinker and a heavy smoker to hang around here. ref: 19304

Best place on the beach for having a great time! If you have never seen "The Shag" , This is the place for you to go check it out! It wasn't featured on Samatha Brown's "Best of Show" for nothing!! Free Basic shag lessons on Tuesdays starting at 7pm. The grill has the best chicken wings on the beach, great hamburgers, and the Fried Bolongna sandwich is fab! Lunch with Lulu every Friday at noon. The Staff is very friendly, they are the best!! Walking distance from a lot of hotels in the area. I love this place!!! ref: 16900

Wow is all I have to say ! Where else can you literally step back in time to the old Myrtle Beach of the 60's or 70's ? The nicest people you will EVER meet are at Fat Harold's. In the words of General Norman Johnson, "..........finger poppin' and stompin' feet, little dances that look so neat, you see why it will stand, some folks don't understand it, that's why they don't demand it.........". I highly recommend the "Cole Bud"...a delightfully frosty 12 ounce can of days gone by. The food is OK, but the nostalgia, music and DANCERS are the BEST. I never knew there were so many people that could move their feet without ever touching the ground. If you are a teen or an aging baby boomer like me, this place is still HOT ! ref: 11319

If you like being pushed and shoved around by patrons, in a smokey club, with limited seating and a poor floor design....then this is your place! Come hear anytime they have a popular beach band playing and you'll get all of this and more. Unless you are a serious beach music and shag fan....that likes being elbow to elbow with other shaggers... I suggest you stay away! Just getting to the rest room or an exit door on most nights is an accomplishment. I am a fan of beach music and a part time resident in NMB. There are better venues than this to hear a good band. Plus there is almost always a cover of $10 or more. I have been more than 10 times over the last several years and it is almost always this way. My wife and I vowed the last time we were there (Jan. 08), that we would never return. I hope we have finally learned our lesson! FYI - the food is OK. But this is not really a restaurant. Beach club atmosphere. Great friendly people and service. Music is outstanding (R&B, shag, boogie, bop...old school fas dancin). Beer is cold and service is great, even when slammed...which is almost every night. Basic food...hamburgers, steak sandwiches, fries, etc. I do recommend the fried bologna sandwich with a thick slab of onion and mustard. ref: 2733

Had a great time. went down and stayed at the Avista Resort after prom and my boyfriend and I went into Fat Harolds with my brother and his wife. Shagging was awesome. Very nice people. ref: 2618

Was there in April 2005 had a great time. The staff was very nice to my wife and me, especially some kid that worked behind the bar named Taylor. The music was great, too. This place is a must on your vacation! ref: 651
