Very disappointed in this restaurant, wouldn’t accept my service dog and he is a registered service dog. I had his papers with me. You could tell this manager or owner did not want us there, plus he didn’t want to leave the table after he saw my dogs service card. All service dogs are suppose to be accepted. He does not want these animals in his restaurant.

I ordered the scallops and I want to say the cook/chef did great. The scallops were awesome! As for what the resturant espouses on the menu as offering southern hospitality is so far from the truth. The waitress that waited on us per conversation was from NC but in no way knew waht southern hospitality really is. Furthermore the lady that cleaned the tables didnt know either. Bless her heart she was from northern New York which wasnt hard to figure. I suggest lessons in genuine southern hospitality and not what a northerner thinks is. Have been vacationing in the area for a week and have only encountered southern hospitality from a Iatino heritage young lady at the Thistle. Doubt I will ever come back to the area no matter how good the seafood. Written by A Southwest Va. Hillbilly gentleman

I went on a solitary vacation in Sept. for 6 days with the hopes of possible relocation in the future. I heard nice things of Ella's especially about Jimmy Durante memorabilia which interested me. I saw couples leaving with their doggy bags and a couple before got seated right away. I think I got the same waitress that the previous review talked about. I was never acknowledged and stood there as she passed me. I asked if I could sit at the bar. I was told they didn't have one. She busied herself and ignored me further. I stood a few more minutes and decided to leave. I've heard that single women customers get the worst service since the help knows they won't make much on us. Certainly not very welcoming to me. I left feeling very insignificant and disappointed passing many happy chatting couples as they stood outside. -One sad single senior lady from New Bern!!

We were greeted and seated almost immediately which was great. Sadly that's where it ended. Our waitress had very little personality, never actually introduced herself was very short with us as well. Took our drink orders brought them back fairly quick. She had little to no knowledge of the menu or food being served. Took our orders never suggested anything. Food came out ( I ordered stuffed flounder). The green beans were straight from a can no seasoning, coleslaw pretty much bland. My fish was over cooked, filling had no flavor. Waitress never checked back until we were finished with our meal. Instead she sat in a booth across from us and talked. At that point the rest of the table were done as well. The only empty plate was my daughters she had crab legs. The manager was not going to even comp the meal. I would of had better service and seafood from MMcDonald's. Would never recommend this place.

We usually eat seafood at Hoskins in Ocean Drive, but since they were not open we went to Ella's. Ella's food cannot compare with Hoskins. Hoskins, not only has delicious food, it is very clean and has a great salad bar. Staff is very friendly and you can also buy homemade pound cakes. We'll never go back to Ella's again.J

I cannot get enough of their bisque. It is amazing. The seafood is good as well but the bisque is to die for. As for the review about the sticky tables, maybe they went there right after a rush because this place gets busy. I put average for the length of time to be seated because it changes depending upon time of day and year (of course) I have tried several other places at the beach but Ella's is my favorite by far. My uncle David eats there at least once a day every day of our vacation-just for the bisque.

My wife and I ate at Ella's on Monday for lunch, at the suggestion of a local resident. While crowded, the wait was short and the staff was pleasant. Our crab cakes were excellent, but the flounder was disappointing (dry, tough and old tasting). Our thought was that it had been cooked earlier and perhaps reheated.

My husband and I have been going since the year of hurricane Hugo! Its not as greasy as others. I have ibs so this is important. Many times I have tried others. I finally one day admitted to my husband that he wins, Ella's IS THE BEST. Expensive all you.can eat buffet and others did not compare much to Ella's. My own fried food to me is second best.

I and my family have been eating at Miss Ella's since the 1950's. My family owns property on Ocean Isle, NC., but, we currently live in Richmond, VA. For the type of clientele coming into the area, you can not beat their prices. If you need "atmosphere", well behaved children, no laughter and soft music, no, this is not the place for you. If you come in with shorts and flip flops on or your "Sunday best" to eat good food for a very sensible price, then that's what you get. It's not romantic, soft music, plush surroundings. It's nautical sand on the floor or carpet, ships painted on the walls, good people, and good food. And for all these reasons, I feel comfortable and well fed.

Ella's is poorly ran, both management and wait staff. Bus boys were the only ones I saw working. Management was very disrespectful and rude. Highly dissapionted. Hostess staff was not nice no smiling faces. Also heard rumors of boss having underage intercourse with employees and male employee sexual harrasment is very high from what I can tell. Also heard boss and former boss very racist.

Had party of 14 plus two babies. Arrived around 7pm on a Wed night. Went to this restaurant because of good reviews. Got seated almost immediately. Waitress came to table in very short time to take beverage order. After short period of time she came back with drinks and took our food order. She also brought us hush puppies which were good. Our orders included stuffed flounder, sautéed shrimp, cheeseburgers, flounder, and blackened tuna. Almost an hour later, and three drink refills, the food arrived, all but the tuna. Our waitress advised she waited till the other meals were ready to order the tuna so it would no be overcooked. It arrived five minutes after all th other food. I had the stuffed flounder. It was the worst flounder I ever ate, mushy and tasteless. The crab and shrimp stuffing was equally as bad. My wife also had the same meal and it was equally as bad. Two in the party had sautéed shrimp and neither could eat more than a couple shrimp. I tried a shrimp from the plate and it too was awful. The cheeseburger too was terrible, and the chicken strips were only slightly more tolerable. As it ended up, the best meal served to our table was the blackened tuna. I feel our waitress earned her tip and she did offer to serve me something else. We did not have any more time to wait for anything else, nor was there any confidence it would be any more edible.

I will list the pros and cons of this place First the pros: Hush puppies were good. Pina Coladas were good. Waitress was good. Now the cons: Scallops were under cooked. Fish was way overcooked, it was hard and dry. Oysters had so much batter on them you couldn't taste the oyster. This is the worst seafood I have ever had.

We ate at Ella's twice during a recent family vacation. The food was wonderful and the prices were very reasonable. Along with great fried seafood, they offer boiled * broiled seafoods. We sampled lobster bisque, clam chowder, combination seafood plates and their famous shrimp. Our two five year olds loved Ella's and wanted their picture taken by the giant shrimp statue located in the parking lot. The service was quick and the servers were attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant.

Our family ate at Ellas this past July, 2011. I had a seafood platter, it was more than I could eat. I like their hush puppies, and my daughters had the crab soup they liked it. I saw shrimp on someone's plate, obviously not local shrimp so I didn't order it. It would be great if they had local shrimp! All in all not a bad experience, we would go back. No wait on a Tuesday night at about 6pm.

My Wife and I decided to go to Ella's based on reviews on this website and were not disappointed. We both had the fried flounder, the small portion and the large portion. The portions were more than we could eat and tasted quite fresh. The smoke-free atmosphere was a welcome surprise but the food would have been quite good, nonetheless. The prices were very reasonable given the amount of food and the hush puppies were absolutely delicious. We were seated quickly in the busy restaurant and the waitress was quick to respond to our requests. We will not hesitate to return and will recommend Ella's to anyone asking our opinion of seafood options in the Little River or Calabash areas.

I'm a local from North Carolina and to get fresh seafood, I love to eat at Ella's. I always order the fried seafood platter and have never been disappointed. The servers are busy, but always find the time to come back to the table to see if you need tea, etc; The restaurant is exceptionally clean and that is another reason I love eating here. It is family oriented and a just all around great place to eat.

I want to tell everyone to stay away. Service was terrible, and my seafood platter came out cold, mussy, and my oysters already had sauce on them. The only explnation for this is that they were off someone elses plate. When trying to explain to the manager what happened with the food she explained to me that if I did not pay she was going to call the cops, which I had her do. Needless to say I did not have to pay for my meal. I am a local in MB, SC and also in the service industry. There are many great seafood resturants. Stay away from this from this one unless you want recycled food.

9-7-09 This use to be our favorite place to have seafood. Wife and I drove from South Myrtle Beach to have good seafood. What a mistake. Shimp was very small and soaked in grease. The scallops were fair but very greasy as well. Flounder is what they called it but had no taste. The oyster were the best of what seafood we ordered. The best part of the meal was the baked potato. Hope they get their act together before next year. We usually drive up to Calabash 3 times each trip down. Only 1 time this year.

First off, I must admit that my daughter is named Ella, so we had to try it. The food was good, but not great. The hushpuppies they serve are great though. I ordered a platter and everything on it, except the flounder, was very good, but it was a small platter. Granted, I didn't need any more food (especially since I filled up on the hushpupies), but my plate was small. We got there early and it was already crowded, but no wait. When we left, it was packed and people waiting. All and all, I think we would go back.

We were very dissappointed with the quality of the food served. The steak and shrimp dinner was terrible. The shrimp were small and the steak (ordered medium well) consisted of mainly fat. Ok, was here in june and it was not so great, but I will give any restaurant a second chance. I have eaten here for years and it has been wonderful, so after a bad review, I gave it another chance. I will not go back! the food tasted bad, bad, bad, just plain ole bad! my cold boiled shrimp was not cold (warmish) and tasted old and mushy. I get chills thinking about it. The oysters had no taste at all. I was so unhappy. I ate the hushpuppies and couldn't eat the limp french fries either. My son ordered a rare steak, that was very tough and way way way over cooked. I know, it is a seafood restaurant, not for steaks, but not every body likes seafood. I told the cashier that I was a return visitor and it was not good. He said, what was wrong with it? I said, the shrimp tasted mushy! he said mushy? I have not heard that one.. So, I paid and will never go back. They have lost me as a return customer..

Sometime in the last year or so the management of Ella's must have changed, because we have been going there for the last 10 years and up until this year the food was great.... This year (June 23), the shrimp tasted like it came from an oil spill and the hush puppies are not like they used to be. The food is too greasy and cold by the time you get served. Getting a refill on for your drink was impossible and the slaw tasted like it had been made 2 days before.

We have been going to Ella's for numerous years now and have to say we were very disappointed this visit. Had to ask for the salad bar to be replenished. My Seafood Platter looked like it had been thrown together and was luke warm at best. I had the bottom of the barrell shrimp pile, 3 oysters, 10 scallops and dry flounder. It was very greasy and I only ate about half of it. Not the Ella's I have been used to over the years.

Have been eating here for years. This year the waitress couldn't get it together. We ate our whole meal with no drinks. Couldn't find her to ask for a drink. I guess she forgot our drinks. Finally flagged down another waiter and asked for a drink. She was very apologetic. Ok..so a mistake can be made. The food, just didn't seem as wonderful as usual. Seemed a little greasy. Maybe because we had nothing to wash it down with! Not hot like usual. Not sure. When we left, we told the cashier that it just wasn't as wonderful as usual. She said. Oh..sorry That will be $$$$

We have been eating at Ellas for well over ten years, and never have we ever experienced any of the complaints listed in the post below. Food is always prepared perfectly, wait staff is always more than efficient, and the price is very reasonable. Ellas is and always will be our favorite place on our many visits to the area. Sometimes in the busy summer months, the wait can be long. That is only because so many people choose to wait for the best seafood around. A few years ago, Southern Living Magazine seemed to agree when they chose this as one of the best seafood restaurants in the southeastern U.S.

My family decided to go to this restaurant based on all the wonderful review but were very disappointed. The fish platters were all fried and very greasy. We waited a very long time to get seated and the service was not great. The food came all at once and they rushed you out the door.

Well, just got back from a week vacation in Myrtle Beach, and as always we made our annual trips to Calabash to sample the seafood. We usually choose a different restaurant each time to get an overall opinion of the offerings that Calabash has. This year we visited Dockside and Ella's. We enjoyed both, but fell in love with Ella's. The food was hot, fresh, and plentiful. The service was fantastic. Our waitress was quick, friendly, and dowright funny! A real pleasure. I observed the other waitresses, and they all were giving top-notch, down home service. The price was reasonable and we walked away feeling very satisfied. After now visiting all the main "calabash style" seafood restaurants in Calabash, Ella's is our favorite and we will return each year.

My Father-in-law told my wife where Ella's was and 4 years we started going to Ella's to eat and would not think of going anywhere else the atmosphere is great the food is great and the wait is not to long unless you wait to eat after 5:30 in the afternoon. But this is the beach and it is summer. The price is good and although it's not a buffet it is all you can eat on each plate any complaints should be forgotten.

My daddy took my family there when my daughter was one year old. Ella loved children because she came out and carried my daughter off off. Every time we went Ella would grab her. She did the same thing when my brother had kids. My daughter is now forty-six years old, so we have been going a long time. The food has always been wonderful. I just wish I could go every week, but that would be hard since we live in Ocoee, Florida. Whenever we go north tho, we go out of our way to eat at Ella's on the way up and back down.

I have been going to Ella's for 20 years and have always loved it. There may have been some bad spots in between visits over the years - I understand one of the original owners died a couple of years ago. Anyway, we went with a party of 7 in August and it was excellent, every bit like I remembered. My parents got the senior plate which was more than enough. Most of us got the seafood platter with everything on it. The food came out quickly and even the cocktail sauce was yummy. I love the new floor plan with the entrance at the side. For those who do not think Ella's is nice inside, please remember that these seafood houses in Calabash are rich in tradition and not there for the decor. May Ella's live on as the pride of Calabash!

We went to Ella's after taking a Dolphin tour at the nearby Hurricane Fleet, around 6:45 on a weekday, and the place was very busy. The wait was about 40 minutes and people were getting upset because they were told the wait should be ~20 minutes. There were several very large parties that were in no hurry to leave, they couldn't help that. We found the meal was well worth the wait. I got the deluxe seafood platter: shrimp, flounder, oysters, scallops, and deviled crab. Delicious!!! I ate and ate until I was busting at the seams, and it seemed I barely put a dent in it, and all for only $16!! This could easily be shared between two or three people, especially with the special hush puppies, cloe slaw, and french fries that come with it. Great meal...I'll definately go back.

We visit Ella's frequently. We almost stopped going because the fried shrimp had gotten to be very greasy. It seems they have some trained fry cooks and some who are not as experienced. I think the Mon-Fri day crew is pretty good.

We normally go for the luncheon special which is a great value at about $5.75 for your choice of shrimp, flounder, clams or hamburger steak. We normally get the fried shrimp and flounder, baked potato which is about .25 extra and slaw. Ella's is a fried food specialty, broiled can be disappointing and slow to come out. Also the boiled shrimp are pretty good. All in all, good value for the money but you can catch them on a bad day when the food will be greasy and the service slow. Did I mention the onion rings--a great appetizer--they are homemade and you get a bunch.

We live in PA and love to visit Ella's when we travel to Myrtle. It has been our favorite restaurant for 30+ years. Love the prices, the service, and the F O O D! Go for lunch and get the popcorn shrimp and deviled crab....EXCELLENT! The hush puppies are the best in the USA! We even look forward to their sweetened iced tea. If you go for supper, get there right before 4 (if you can) and pay lunch prices. In the PA winters, we yearn to be eating at Ella's!

Visited Ella's for the first time this year and went back for a second visit. Their shrimp is excellent, lightly breaded and lightly fried as calabash should be. Oysters are also excellent. They have a variety of size choices, including a senior menu. Their hush puppies are excellent and served with honey butter. Prices are very reasonable. If you go early, before 5, you should be seated without a wait, but they do get very busy during the dinner rush hour. Noise level is as expected for a casual seafood place.

We have been visiting Ella's for over 30 years..when I was a young child with my family. My husband and I now take our children there and it is always a wonderful experience. The food is absolutely delicious. We compare seafood with 'Ella's Quality' everywhere we go! The girls who work there are super friendly and even in the dead of summer, with a line out the door, you never feel rushed. The family who owns it is truly wonderful, always pleasant and eager to please. It must be difficult to please so many people but they make it look easy! I can't imagine the people who wrote the above reviews were actually at the same restaurant!! I say, give it another try..it was a fluke! Candace Wright

My family has eaten at Ellas for many years. It used to be our favorite........but through the years, the quality of the food has changed. I believe that there are too few servers for the number of tables resulting in poor service. The food tends to be extra greasy and cool. Cashiers are not friendly at all. I have relatives who live nearby who never go there. We have since found a couple of seafood restaurants that we prefer.

Visited your restaurant on 8/23/07.We had a party of 13.We were able to be seated immediately. Our server who was new to the establishment(Brooke) was very friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely the worst we have ever had in all our years on our Myrtle Beach vacations.I personally had the Captains platter(broiled) the flounder fillet was clearly bad.It was mushy like mashed potatoes.I ordered two sides of calamari which were greasy but good. One of our party never even received her meal.We considered her the lucky one.Six of us spent the night with stomach cramps and diaharrea.Thank God the hushpuppies were good.It took us 30 minutes to get there from our vacation home.I never thought I would write a reveiw on a restaurant but it was so bad I was inspired to share my story.

For years my family has been eating a Dockside and occasionally Capt. Nances in Calabash. However, we tried Ellas based on the coupon mentioned below that we had. We had no problem understanding the coupon, which clearly stated that you receive a MENU ITEM valued up to $10 for free. It was NOT a coupon for $10 off. I find it unfair to give them a hard time for something that the customer clearly misunderstood. We had a great experience and that is our new favorite place. It was noisy during lunch and I can imagine that is even more so at dinner, but other than that, everything was superb. We had a fantastic waitress(Paula)!!

The seafood was too greasy. "Our" scallops had to be sent back twice because they were not cooked; relatively raw. The baked potato was warm; therefore, the butter would not melt. The softshell crab was fried too hard in some kind of hard batter. The hush puppies were gooey on the inside. My husband and I were charged $23.81 for poor quality food. Upon leaving, the cashier asked "how was everything?" We told her about the scallops and the greasy food. She took our money and said, "thank you."

We went to Ella's because of the reviews and what looked like the best value. The place has less atmosphere than your local Capt'n Ds. It is like a cafiteria on a bad day. I ordered the steak and shrimp. The steak was huge and very good. The shrimp although small were plentyful just not much taste. My wife ordered the flounder, and did not eat even half, it was tough and dry. My potato was over cooked and had a huge black spot, so I wanted to swap it out, it took me fifteen minutes to track down our waitress, she was very over worked. If you are looking for a nice seafood restaurant this is not the place. If you want a lot of food for the money it is ok.

After reading all the reviews and discovering that Ella's had crab legs (not a buffet) we decided to give it a try. I ordered flounder & shrimp and the fish was not good at all - tough and rubbery. The shrimp was cold and tasteless. My son's crab legs were good and my husband's ribeye was huge but not cooked properly. I had finished my meal (what I ate of it anyway) before the waitress came back so that my husband could send his steak back - ordered Med Rare and it was purple. Once he got it back, he said it was delicious. Drink refills were sllooooowwww. The noise level was very high (cafeteria type atmosphere) also. Would not recommend.

My wife and I were consistently delighted with the quality, as we spent 4 winter months in the area. Service went from outstanding (Rose) to below average (a waitress who left dirty dishes accumulate at our table, who also brought us our check, before we had a chance to order key lime pie.) Ella's granddaughter told us she would speak to the waitress about the dishes. Other waitresses were average to above average. When one waitress brought us fries and slaw instead of optional double-slaw and no fries, she immediately brought us another helping of slaw. All other aspects of the restaurant were fine. We just as soon not go to a real posh places with substantially higher prices.

We've tried just about every seafood place in Calabash and Ella's has by far the best food. Great hushpuppies, lightly fried clams, and shrimp, and tender oysters. We've taken to ordering the Senior Plates because the regular size plate is so filling. You might find better ambiance at other places but you won't find better food. Eating at Ella's is a must.

We recently ate at Ella's as repeat customers. We had a coupon that said $10 off. We showed our waitress the coupon and never dreamed when we ordered 2 entrees that were more than the $10 that the coupon would not be honored for the entire $10. To our surprise we were told at the register that they did not take the $10 off of an entree but would only honor it if you ordered something under the $10 or exactly for $10. Imagine how we felt when we were told we could only take a drink off rather than the $10. So a word to the wise their coupon in the book that so many buy through schools does not work like the rest and they will not honor it even though you ask the waitress before you order which is what we did. Make them tell you how you can use it for the entire amount. It did not leave us with a pleasant experience and I hope I can save someone else the experience we had. The girl up front had obviously dealt with this before because she was all too ready with explanations. I might have let it slip had I not shown the coupon to our waitress who probably know the trick to using it. Thats ok maybe I have told someone else and they will not have an unpleasant experience in case you try to use the coupon. We were told by the girl at the front that they were not obligated to tell anyone how to use the coupon. My personal thoughts are they put this coupon in the book with no intention of its being used but instead to gain business and they do not care to honor. Most of that business will not make up for the negative feeling that this situation brings to so many.

I ordered the fried shrimp platter, and was impressed. It was classic, calabash fried shrimp, and tasted great. This place is the classic, Calabash, fish-camp style dining experience. I would definitely go back again.

What a treasure of a sea food restaurant. We based our decision to visit on reviews. We were not disappointed. Casual setting but nice and bright with cozy booths. The waitress was top notch, friendly and efficient. Knew all our orders and didn't push us even though there was a line when we left (in February). The Crab Bisque is highly recommended. I had the small Seafood platter. I could hardly get away from the table after this feast. Coleslaw and hushpuppies very good. Don't miss out on the oysters. Fantastic. My husband had the shrimp and clams and son shrimp and flounder. I will be sure to return to this treasure. This site is invaluable and recommended to all our friends.

When coming to beach, it is a must that I find a great place for crab legs. I definitely found a great spot at Ella's.

Six of us were seated as soon as we walked in, but the decor left a little to be desired. However, after to the mountain of hush puppies and well made onion rings, I knew this place was all about great food and not atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed the meals that they ordered except for my wife's steak that she ordered well done was more like medium rare.

By the way, the crab legs were great! Warm, tender an not too dry. Around 1lb for $13, which was obviously enough because I was completely full. The bill for my wife and I was around $35 which I felt was a very good value for the quality of food.

So if you are guy like me and you want for sure hit for crab legs, Ella's is the place.

My wife and I have been to Ellas several times. The waitresses always have been nice and attentive. The wait time was not too bad. The food was served to us hot, and the taste was good. The seafood is lightly breaded. It (breader) does contain a bit more onion, or garlic powder than some of the other places in the area - not a problem for most people, but worth mentioning. We have never had a bad experience here.

My wife is a North Carolina native who has been coming to Calabash for years. We reviewed restaurants and made our choice. Unfortunately, I cannot concur with the great reviews of Ella’s that we read.

Our 30 minute wait turned into 55.

After a friendly beginning with the order taking, we waited 30 minutes for any further attention. Teas needed refilling, the hush puppies needed replenishing, and we had a spill at the table that needed help with more napkins. The soup, a local fresh oyster stew never arrived.

The entrees were mediocre and the stuffed flounder, a specialty, was disappointing and luke-warm. Two sets of side dishes were incorrect and the waitress had to be flagged down.

The waitress did apologize at the end, referencing a party of 14 that took her attention. I should have brought more people. When I checked out at the front desk, not one person bothered to ask how my dinner or experience was. With so many excellent choices in a town as charming as Calabash one should definitely look elsewhere.

On our recent trip to Ella's everything once again was wonderful. The food was great as always and the service is always nice. Some of our favorite girls are the ones that we notice from last year and they always seem to remember us. They are very friendly and pleasant to conversate with. Everyone that visits the coastal area should try Ella's and get some of the greatest seafood and sweet tea. They cook their food in a reduced fat oil and not lard unlike some of the restaurants in the area. It tastes great and it's not greasy or heavily battered. We love it!!!

We will DEFINITELY visit Ella's again on our next trip to see our family. Thanks again to all "our girls" for another great trip and great food.

Our family has been eating at Ella's for years. They KNOW how to cook seafood!! The prices are very economical and the amount of food is enormous!! Our children have grown up comparing all seafood to Ella's :) For real southern cooked seafood...go to Ella's! You will not be disappointed...also, they have the best hushpuppies around!

I used to be a lifeguard in North Myrtle Beach back in the early 90's and I had a girlfriend who worked here. She always hooked me up with extra hush puppies and clam chowder. To this day it's still some of the best food I've ever had. The food was always good and I always got extra special service. I'll be sure to stop by the next time I'm in the area.

We were told by a local to try Ella's and were NOT disappointed. Our family always went to Myrtle Beach to eat seafood and boy were we crazy! Ella's had the best seafood and other things on the menu as well. A nice family atmosphere and recently went all Non Smoking. No wonder they were featured in Southern Living Favorites.

Since i was small, my family would always eat in Calabash on visits to the coast. Simmons, Nances, or Ella's. Ella's by far is the best.

Ate there this past Saturday and had their oyster cocktail, which was just about as much as I could eat. Fantastic! We also had their lunch specials that are very reasonably priced. Can' t go wrong. Take it from an "almost local" Winn Simmons

Just got back from Myrtle Beach, which included two (2) visits to Ella's. We always go there, and have never been disappointed. Our large (ten person) party ordered a wide variety of foods, some fried some broiled, and it was all great. I had the oysters/shrimp on night and the shrimp/crabs on the second visit, and each time it was tasty and delicious. The oysters went a long way toward erasing the memory of fired oysters at Howard Johnsons when i was a kid! ;-) Others had the soft shelled crab, stuffed flounder, the big mamma jamma five item captains plate (shrimp, oysters, scallops, crab, and flouder). Oh, yeah, we also had the key lime pie, which was to die for. I can only assume the 8.9.2005 review was a gross anamoly-it certainly was NOT the restuarant experience we had on our trips to Ellas on 8.14.2005 and on 8.19.2005.

Each year I travel to Myrtle Beach for vacation. It is a tradition for me to go to Ella's and enjoy their seafood platter. Best seafood and best prices that I have found anywhere. I look forward to going there each year.

The quality of Ella's has declined! I grew up going to Ella's for good seafood when my family travelled to Calabash; however the last time we stopped there the service was poor, the hush puppies were cold and the seafood was awful! I mentioned this to the person at the register who seemed not to really care. I seriously doubt I will ever go back.

We love Ella's! They have the very very very best hush puppies you will ever eat and that is the main reason to go. Sweet tea is also good and you can order by the pitcher. Nice family run place, great value for the money
