Used to go to Driftwood for breakfast, miss it. I live so close, so I decided to check out the bar, been there a year ago, thought I would go back for some beers by myself. Felt kinda uncomfortable as the bartender was more interested in getting out early than anything. The owner encourages the employees to close early. I just don't like when you go to a place with set hours and they close early. Why do you have set hours, is 10 really that late? I don't know if I will go back even though I am a few hundred yards from the place, the beer is expensive and there isn't many locals there. The locals I met were young and too cool for school. I'm sure they will do fine if you are visiting as it is nice to have a beer on the beach, not a place for locals what so ever. ref: 25018 ![]() |

So... eight of us (recent college grads) decided to go here because it was within walking distance from where we were staying. We got there about 10:00. The bar was occupied by about six "reg'lars" and the bartender was visible irritated that we showed up at TEN o'clock. We overheard her telling a reg'lar that "I like to close at ten, and kick everybody out at eleven." She gave us an irritated look when we wanted to open a tab as if " You'll be here that long?" This place is lame. Don't go here if you're trying to party. Only go here if you want to be judged by middle-aged drunks who are threatened by college students at ten thirty on a weekend night. ref: 22579 ![]() |

On a four day vacation staying at Prince Resort, my wife and I enjoyed a few hours at the Boardwalk Beach Cafe. We found the bartender friendly and attentive. The typical "bar food" was fine and not over-priced. Although the weather was cool, I would find this nice establishment to be a great place to spend some time at the outdoor tables in warmer weather. Overall, I would recommend that you give this restaurant a try given the view, atmosphere, friendly people and reasonable prices. I hope your experience was as nice as ours. ref: 21765 ![]() |

We are locals-valuable business. Been going for a long time but not any more. Food is good but you are trying to soak every bit of $$ from the customer. Ordered Jim Beam & water but nothing was brown in the drink-sent back to the bar for credit. Also ordered water to drink was charged .50$. Talked to manager and he was rude-said that he did not profit from shorting drink and that they had to pay for cups ice straws and water for the order of water. Get real how much does a plastic cup cost .02$ Learn how to keep your customers you lost us for good-ED 12-03-2009 ref: 17784 ![]() |

The food is fantastic. The shrimp were swimming that morning, sooooo fresh. The flounder was great. You cannot beat the atmosphere, overlooking the ocean right at the Cherry Grove pier. (The loaded nachos were pretty good, too). We were seated immediately. Prices are a little high but really, $10 - $12 per plate for beachfront outdoor dining is okay with me. ref: 17094 ![]() |

We tried this place on August 14th, We had to sit ourselves and at first we sat on the "bar" overlooking the ocean which was nice, but it would be difficult to have dinner. So we grabbed a table. There was just 2 of us and the place was not packed even being a Friday night. We ordered an appetizer of wings and (2) speciality frozen drinks which are costly @ $ 8.00 a pc.and dinner Chesseburgh and Chicken Sandwish The drinks took 10 minutes to get to us. The food we never got. After 20 minutes after the drinks arrived and being told kitchen was backed up, (couldn't tell by the amount of people) any way after that the waiter came to the table next to us and placed food on there table , they informed the waiter that did not order what was brought out. noticed the food brought to the bar area and sat on the bar, the place is outside. Another 10 minutes goes by, the food is taken off the bar, and is brought to individual tables by another waitress and were asking people if they ordered the food, not coming to our table at all. The food was brought back to the bar and our waiter was talking w/ the waitress. I went to see where our food was, and it just so happened to be that was our order. I informed the waiter that 1st the chicken wings were an appetizer, his reply " appetizers comes with tha main meal , and would get me a box" I told him to stick the wings, in addition I told him the food was on the bar and no one came to our table his response was " I should have spoken up earlier" I then told him to stick the cold food. We went to Basils pizza AWESOME. WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE ref: 16852 ![]() |

My husband and walked to the beach from our hotel and we stopped here for drinks one afternoon while on vacation. We got Pina Coladas. They were expensive at $9 a piece. It was nice that we could take them out on the deck overlooking the beach but it would have been nicer if they actually put some alcohol in the drinks. I got more of a buzz from the Yeungling beer that I had at dinner the night before. I'd have been better off going to Taco Bell and getting a Pina colada fruitista freeze for a fraction of the price. ref: 16619 ![]() |

Back in the 70's to early 80's this was a great place . Decent burgers and hot dogs . Never had fish or seafood there ,it wasnt the place to go for that . But what they did have was the most amazing onion rings ever made . I believe they cost about 2 bucks but it was a giant platter of them enough for 2 people easy . We were high school age and used to go in there and just eat those . Man those things were good ...Anybody remember those ? ...Also ,the place got wrecked by Hurricane Hugo in 89 but they built it back . ref: 14903 ![]() |

Wonderful to know there is a new Chef in town and they are reworking their menu as I write. Tried Chef David's entrees and was impressed with his little twist on some items that are on alot of Myrtle Beach menus....Even breakfast was very good! Had a scrambled egg Quesadilla that was so different and delicious. Love the Art Deco furnishings and if Chef David follows thru with what he wants to do, this place will really rock for a great breakfast or dinner. ref: 9904 ![]() |

This is not a restaurant. This is a bar. They serve "bar food". My wife and I have an O/F condo in Sea Winds at 48th Ave. South, NMB. It is a 2.5 hour stroll on the beach to this place, but a good place to rest, have a snack and some water. We ate here years ago when it was a churchy, country, fried fish basket place. I doubt alcohol was served then, but the food was very good. We read the most rescent reviews - people looking for a meal (I agree with the 10/7/2007 review) and memory lane people who would still love it if the owners spat on you. You have to discount that review, no?
Two cheese burgers w/ fries & pickle (2x$8.50), fried mac-n-cheese appitizer ($5), water, plus tax = $24+ tip = $27 for food that was so-so at best. It should not be hard to make a great hamburger. This one is forgetable. It was was a perfectly shaped, frozen puck. Off-brand (Monarch) Ketchup is guarenteed to confuse your tastebuds even further. This is a trruly nasty condiment and it exudes "cheap".
SC law requires food to be served wherever a liquor is served. No food = no liquor license. The food here is a required checkmark for the bar. No pride is taken. There is no chef.
BUT..the bar is pretty. The view is nice and ocean front is expensive. You will be paying for the view. My advise: Order drinks (Jim Beam and Coke = $4.50), enjoy the view and eat only if you are starving. Again, this is a bar with "bar food" - not a restaurant as most civilized people would define it.
The menu is printed in 3-fold white laser paper - weather worn, stained and with non-exciting entries. Before ordering I asked the waitress about the fried mac-n-cheese and she said "I do not know. I have only been here a month."
On a short menu, she should at least be offered a tasting session during her first week, no?
This place feels like a write-off to the new resort which now overshadows it and probably owns it. It is staffed by college kids (or, perhaps since it is October - college dropouts) and there is no pride of ownership. The owner is, no doubt, in another city or country and presides over 50 of these seasonal bars. That is how it feels.
If you want a nice meal at a reasonable price, this is totally the wrong place. If you want a drink by the ocean - then enjoy! ref: 9105 ![]() |

This place is now called Boardwalk Beach Cafe. Located at Cherry Grove Pier behind the new Prince Resort.More of a bar and grill than a restaurant. Might be more of an ammenty for the resort than public restaurant. Thumbs up for atmosphere. Heavy varnished wood trim and furnishings. Exterior walls are mostly garage doors that are opened making it an open air room. More tables outside on deck under awning. Still a couple more out in open away from awning and over looking beach. At high tide you are actually seated over the water. Service was quick and friendly. Menu: Average. Half dozen give or take sandwich options. Same for the "dinner" menu. Most if not all "dinner" options are fried. Menu says the seafood is fresh from local supplier. Gives you impression of quallity meals. Ordered seafood platter. $12. Platter was small plastic hamburger basket. One third shrimp. Large pile of very small popcorn sized shrimp. No taste. One piece of fish. Fried till it was hard as rock. Large helping of french fries. So greasy I couldn't eat them. Serving of slaw was in small condiment tub. Two bites. Looked around at other tables. Sandwiches looked much more appetizing than what I had on plate. Hamburger looked very large but at $8 might not be worth it. Won't go back. ref: 8666 ![]() |
