Went around 7:30 and the place was dead on arrival! Price was $26 for Adults and $13 for kids. Expected it to be a great buffet. Wow...were we wrong! Salad bar was very limited. So much so there were not even bacon bits. Soup had a film over the top of it like it had been sitting for a while. Most of the food was fried, very greasy and not appealing. Prime rib was offered, a big yuck on that. Over cooked and cut into bits with onions. Dessert tasted like it was out of a can or box. Service was little to none. Our bill came out to be $71 and that was just with waters. You can get a better meal at Golden Corral for way less and it taste 100% better. Do not waste your $$. Tourist Trap for sure!

For the first time in many visits to this resturant our family was very disappointed. The shrimp was over cooked, fried clams had a funny taste, the oysters were undercooked and the rib eyes were very cold as was the au jus. What happened to the great resturant you once was? After spending over a hundred dollars for supper, we have doubts of coming back.

My family of 5 dined here one evening a few weeks ago and I have to say it was highly dissappointing. The food was wholly unremarkable, we could have eaten better and had more options at any chinese buffet and spent less than half of the money that we did here. The servers were few and burdened with many tables, so ours saw us only for the initial drink order and vanished until the check was dropped off. She didn't even provide us enough plates for everyone in our party and never came back to correct it. We were unable to get our drinks refilled. The bathrooms were an atrocious mess! Finally, the worst part about it is that I went home and immediatelly posted survey feedback on their website and never got a response.....goes to show how much they even care.

I took my wife and kids to the restaurant and I was pleased to see the warm greeting and the attentive staff handle themselves very professionally. The food was what you expect from a buffet. The serving areas were very clean and the atmosphere was nice. Compared to the giant crab I would bring my family back here again and again.

Some of the worst food I have ever eaten. It was cold, tasteless and the New England Clam Chowder tasted like flour, nothing like the chowder that is prepared in New England. I would not recommend Calabash Seafood to anybody and only would only let people know that the price of their food is not worth spending your money on. The table smelled like it had been washed with a sour sponge. Bob, Springfield, MA

if you want just to feed yourself and the family, have extra money and you are too lazy to go to the grocery store, this is the place.. If you want to have nice dinner with family and friends, this is the worst place to be. Food is nasty, crab legs are the only thing which is OK. Price is ugly too - for 2 adults and 2 kids (no alcohol anyone) - 85 bucks.

Having just moved to the Myrtle Beach area I was excited to try this location. However my excitement turned to disappointment very quickly. The food was cold, the hush puppies tasted like fried pancake batter, the crab cakes contained no crab that I could detect, the stuffed crab was the same way...all bread nothing else. While I realize that a seafood buffet is hard to maintain, putting tuna in what tasted like a beef broth is not a good idea. The fried food was not bad, but lets be real...that is pretty hard to mess up. I would not recommend this buffet. There are much better places to eat.

This is the Benjamin's by Family Kingdom. We should have known by the couple of cars in parking lot. Food was lukewarm at best, biscuits old and hard, instant mashed potatoes cold. They stand and watch you like you are going to take an extra piece of the nasty food. Or maybe they watch in amazement that you are actually going to eat it. We were told that we could not use the $ off coupon in monster book even though we ate buffet and were seated at the right time! We should have walked out. And the bill for this...! Please make sure you get the right Benjamin's! These people are surviving on people like us that come in mistaking it for the other Benjamin's. LOOK Before you Eat and Please don't make the same mistake we did!!!

There are two very different Benjamin restaurants!!! Don't be fooled by the one next to Family Kingdom. It was dark, cold and unfriendly. There was a group in front of us waiting to be seated. Once they went in, they quickly returned complaining about the look of the food and smell. We looked inside and decided against staying. The Benjamin's much further down the highway is AWESOME!! Highly recommended. Well worth the cost. Great service, food and atmosphere!!

My family and I came to Myrtle Beach for the weekend and wanted to eat some great seafood, so we decided to eat here. Little did we know that we stumbled into hell :). As soon as we walked in, the resturant had a funky smell. The hostress was rude to us right off the back when we asked for a bigger table. It took the waiter 10 minutes to get to us, when there was ONLY A FEW PEOPLE THERE!!! She took our order and told us to go get some food. Well, i decided to get salad and they have no plates or silverware to be found. I had to get a soup bowl to put my salad in. We had to wait until my mother had to go and get forks so we could start eating. The waiter brought us 5 plates for 5 people. When i went up to get crab legs, they looked old so i asked the chef when newer ones were coming out, and he said in these exact words " eat the ones that are in the pan first". After that rudeness, i wantied anyway and got my crablegss which were tiny. since the legs were so tiny we had to keep going back. After our plates were gone, we had to track down the waiter for more plates. She came back with 3 plates for 5 people. So, i would suggest not coming here where its 26.00 for an adult and they dont even have a bar. just beer and wine. I would find another place and i wish that we had to. These people are rude and not worth your time.

Me and my husband went there Jan. 10, 2009; While waiting to be seated, the lady at the register had a lower priced menu that she would let people order out on, and we decided that we did not want the buffet, instead we wanted to order from this menu. We told the waitress that seated us this and she did not like this at all, rolled her eyes and walked off to get the menu, when we asked for tarter sauce the waitress never would bring it, and she did not get our drink order right. I was very disappointed. I will not advise anyone to go there!

My husband and I went to this restaurant over the weekend. The hostess shoved a basket of hushpuppies in my hands and she rushed us to our table, not letting us ask questions or see the buffet before we were seated. After we were seated it took well over ten minutes before our waiter decided that he was ready to take our drink order. After he took the drink order he added. "by the way the buffet price is 26.95" and then he walked off to get the drinks. I was in shock at the price but since my husband had already eaten some of the hushpuppies during our wait we decided to stay. Bad mistake. The food was cold and greesy, it all tasted the same the only time they put new food out on the bar was when we were leaving. The waiter didnt fill up our drinks until they sat empty for 15 minutes. After we ate as much of the nasty food that we could we sat there at the table for 45 minutes before the waiter brought the ticket to the table even though I had asked him for it when we were done with the meal. Needless to say I'm not at all pleased with this place, I will tell everyone I meet and I will never be back. (The waiter did NOT get a tip)

First off, let me begin by saying, I've been going to Benjamin's for ten years. Every time I visit Myrtle Beach, I beg my crew to go there. But this last time was so disappointing, I will NEVER go back! The hostess who seated us, shoved the hush puppies into my hand and rushed us to our table. We went on a Tuesday and so the place wasn't very packed. There were servers everywhere! They wouldn't get out of our way at the buffet or would dash in front of us. The men working behind the fried seafood station were cursing and yelling. Then the waiters inside the wait station were all congrigated inside talking so loud, we could here everything they said. Including how one was purposely trying to upset a patron by taking his dish before he was finished. The food?! Don't even get me started! You could tell it had been there all day. Nothing was fresh except the crab legs. The dessert table was a joke. It was all torn apart and stale from sitting out. None of the food was edible. The fried seafood was soggy and greasy from sitting there all day. And the lettuce for the salad bar was hot and brown. Isn't that against health code? Overall, I paid $25 for some crab legs.

I've been to this resturant several times when I visit MB. My family LOVES it and we make it a point to go there at least once when we're in town. Sometimes twice! I do feel that the prices are somewhat steep and depending on the time of day and time of year, you may wait a little while. But the wait is well worth it when you get inside. The food is very good. They do have a multiplicity of items and not all are seafood, which is good for me, because my kids don't always want to have just seafood. The bottomless drinks and friendly service go a long way with my family and I do recommend this resturant to all my friends that visit MB, especially if they've never been there before! Since costs of everything is going up today, I expect this will too. I'd like to see them put a good discount on parties of 4 or more that would increase business and help along the regular families.

Exterior has many old channel markers! We were greeted at the door by a cool pirate "door man." Inside we were greeted by the wait staff, all in navy ensign outfits. Our server, Lissa was very attentive. The interior decor has come a long way over the years. Crab legs were great as well as the rest of the buffet. So much food..........so little time...... We had a $10 off per adult buffet from the local newspaper so that made it a great deal for us. We will definitely be back.

Everytime we go to Myrtle Beach my wife has to go there. She loves the crab legs. She says they are better than anyone elses. I don't eat crab legs, so I end up paying $35 dollars for a plate of spagetti. It will cost you about $80 for 2 people to eat here. They should cut their price in half and sell crab legs only.

My family has enjoyed Benjamin's for a number of years as we are devoted crab leg eaters. The prices are probably the higest in the area so we always take advantage of the Early Bird discounts with coupons. Unfortunately on our last visit we had a bad experience with a gift certificate we from received from friends. The certificate was purchased from Benjamin's and paid for in full (no discount). We showed the Hostess the certificate and gave our Early Bird Discount coupon to her and was tld that we couldn't use both "coupons". I tried to explain that the gift certificate was not a coupon and was paid for at face value. They said the owner's policy was that you can't receive a discount when using a gift certificate. So long, story short -- don't buy gift certificates for anyone because it will cost more in the long run.

After reading that this was #1 seafood buffet in Myrtle Beach the wife and I were very disappointed. We came on a Sunday night around 8 pm. We were seated immediately after being given a tour of the buffet by the hostess. Even though it was still early in the evening the dishes on the buffet looked like they had been sitting there for days. The fish was dried out, the vegetables were limp. The dessert bar was a mess. I think the main problem was it was a slower night and there were still making large pans of all the entries. Even though we managed to find some good things to eat, overall it was very disappointing. Also the staff stood around and talked with each other. Several times customers had squeeze around them to get to the buffett. Save your money and eat at Pier 14. It is a much better restaurant.

I looked forward to going to this restaurant but was disappointed from the time I walked in the front door. The place smelled musky. We were seated immediately but it took about 10 minutes for our server to show up, and it was not even at a busy time. I agree with another person, the restaurant seems to concentrate on quanity rather than quality. I will not return to this restaurant. It is pricey and below average for a restaurant, period.

Hello traveling vacation clan. I'm a business exec, live in Charlotte, N.C. and have been vacationing in Myrtle Beach since I was a wee lad. I'm a big boy now with a little one of my own and as far back as I can remember, and since the 1rst time a local told me where to eat the best buffet in town bar none, Benjamins has been THE place to eat for a seafood/misc buffet. Anyone posting that tells you otherwise simply is guiding you astray or perhaps needs to be eating at venue or ethnic specific establishment because when it comes to variety and doing it well, there is no close second to Benjamin's on restaurant row and trust me because I have tried most of them all. Some may be $5.00 or so cheaper and if that makes you or breaks you than take advantage of the early bird special. Either way do yourself a favor, go in anywhere else and look at what they have and then just take a quick walk and look inside Benjamins and you will see that it's money very well spent for the difference. All the food is very good and fresh but the king crab legs...AWESOME fresh, hot and abundant everytime. A trip to Myrtle Beach without a stop or two at Benjamins is a trip with something missing. Treat yourself, go to Benjamins, get a seat with a waterway view and experience what true southern Iced Tea and authentic Myrtle Beach seafood plus dining is all about. Bon Apetit y'all!

The curb appeal of this restaurant is excellent, enticing one to stop. The staff is personable and a true asset to the establishment. There was a sour smell throughout the restaurant. It made us wonder about cleanliness. We did not appreciate the cost of the meal, even though the variety was there, you can only eat so much. One plate and a dessert was plenty. We were paying for the gluttons to have their fill.

If you're looking for an all-you-can-eat place, this the restaurant to try. With 170 choices, it's hard to beat. My family loves the food here and it satisfies the men in my family. For me, I think that for $27/person, it's a bit pricey and I can't eat that much but if you have a big appetite, you've found your Mecca. My sons love crab legs and shrimp, especially the spicy shrimp. The made-to-order pasta is also a plus.

My significant other and I have eating here on many occasions over the years. Today was a big disappointment. The best part was our very nice waitress " Donna". She tried her best with linted resources .The buss boys were so noisy in their cleaning of tables ,you would thought they were having a race. I do believe they were playing games. I asked if this establishment changed hand since our last visit May of 2007 and was told it had not. The food was scarce and so were the plates. They ran out of horseradish, so one had to make do with the water down cocktail sause. Can you imagine a big seafood menu and someone forgets to order cocktail sauce? The crab legs were overcooked and difficult to get meat from. The BBQ ribs were undercooked and very tough. No cups for after dinner coffee.Someone is really dropping the ball on what has been ,time and time again a four star rating in my book. Today was one star at best

Too pricey for the quality of food and service. The crab legs were a little stringier than we liked. The service was horrid. Our waitress was among the worst we've ever received.

Unable to seat a large party together. Food is average. Even after a 15% gratuity added in to your bill the waitresses expect to keep the change and all they do is bring you drinks. Buffet is crowed and you wait in lines often to come upon empty trays. Price is a slap in the face for what you get in food, atmosphere and service.

Our first experience at this restaurant left us disappointed. The food was plentiful but tasted very average except the crab legs and the pulled pork which were excellent. The service was great, we were seated immediately as were went when they first opened. If you love all you can eat crablegs the value is ok, otherwise the price is hefty.

The Original Benjamin's Clabash Seafood Restaurant is cavernous, kitschy and cool. The food is incredible and amazingly fresh, not a small feat for a place big enough to have its own zip code and offering so many varieties of foods. Unlike other reviewers, the inclusion of foods other than seafood on the menu was appreciated by some in our party, particularly children. The mixed drinks are delightful, and don't pass on the dessert bar or you'll regret it. Staff was wonderfully efficient, friendly, and doesn't smother you with unwanted attention in the middle of your meal. Benjamin's Calabash should have its own star on a map of South Carolina.

We visited benjamin's last summer (2005) and cannot say enough about the quality of the food and service. We were seated as soon as we walked in... It has got to be one of the "best" seafood buffets in Myrtle Beach... We are planning our next visit to the beach and to again dine at Benjamins.. (Aug 2006). See you then!!!!

Those fritters were the best as you walk in the door they hand your a basket to eat as you walk to the table. I had a lot of seafood while dining with you and I must say as a buffet it was great. I mostly had the crabs legs (My Fav) but you must understand, you don't offer all you can eat crabs legs to a guy like me. I found a home..Service was excellent..

The greatest restuarant in the world. They have everything you could want to eat and more. It is a little pricey but it is worth it. Coming back in June of 06 and i am bringing 2 new timers to the area. This will be the first place i take them to eat.

This is the best seafood buffet of all Myrtle Beach restaurants. It is not cheap, but you won't leave hungry. I visit them about 6 times a year and look forward to it every time.

Benjamin's Calabash Seafood is an enormous restaurant. There are more than enough staff to service the crowds even at maximum capacity. But when I see a sign that says "seafood buffet", that's what I expect. Yes, there are over 100 different items on the buffet, but not even 20% of that is seafood. It's totally misleading. Also, the quality of food is just horrible. They seem to be focused on quantity rather than quality. I've been there 5 times and it gets worse every year. I believe I've given them a fair chance. It's time to move on.

DO NOT EAT FOR THREE DAYS before you go here I tell ya.... you will need all the space you can get for the 100's of tasty items on the food bars. The CRAB LEGS are always hot and delish....yum! I go every year and have for years...
