I am local and every time I go to Bails, I receive the WORST service. The employees act as if they are entitled to your tip. I ordered a to go order and tipped well over 20% and didn’t receive so much as a thank you, was told it would be 15 minutes for my order. I was never asked if I wanted something to drink or did I need anything, such as silverware, napkins etc. The garlic bread that came with my order was a burnt sub roll that did not taste anything like garlic bread. Not sure why I have given them a 3rd chance. I guess it’s because I live almost around the corner. Thanks but no thanks Basil's no more chances for you.

We arrived at Basil's around 11:45 AM and were told to find our own table. There were a few open, so we had a choice of where to sit. We sat in front of the fountain drink dispenser. The atmosphere is casual. The restaurant is within walking distance of the beach, and the parking lot was large but mostly full of cars belonging to beachgoers. We noticed many customers seemed to have just come off the beach to enjoy a meal. We were waited on immediately. We ordered drinks, and when the drinks arrived, ordered our meal. We ordered a slice of cheese pizza, pepperoni calzones, and a meatball calzone. My daughter, who is picky about pizza, at every bite of her cheese pizza. She said it was "delicious". I had the meatball calzone, and it was incredible. The crust was cooked perfectly surrounding ricotta, mozzarella and sliced meatballs. The meatballs were spicy, and my husband remarked on that when I gave him a bite of my calzone. (He loves spice,) The pepperoni calzones were also baked perfectly and were very satisfying. The dipping sauce (Basil's sauce), was thin and tangy rather than thick and sweet, like most places. I appreciated the difference. We never had to ask for a drink refill, and we were asked by many on the wait staff how we were doing and if we needed anything. We're here for a week, and I'm sure we'll go back to Basil's before we go home. Excellent service; excellent food!

We recently returned to Ky. from our yearly visit to Cherry Grove Beach. Our first stop was Basil's for pizza and a salad. The food is always excellent and to be a beach restraunt, the staff is out of this world. They really do care about your experience. We were seated among lifeguards, tourists, locals, etc. They make you feel right at home even if you aren't. We always make it to Basil's and to King's Pizza at the Windy Hill section when we are here.We will always return to eat the best pizza on the beach when we are at Cherry Grove. Oh yeah, let the guys know if you root for the University of Ky. They are Duke fans !

Basils restaurant was a new experience for us, but we will definitely dine here again. The good food and friendly service were exceptional. We had the medium combination pizza: it was served steaming hot with generous toppings and sauce, and a light tender crust. Really good pizza and attentive service in a great little beach side restaurant.

My family goes to Cherry Grove every year & are getting ready to go back in a couple of days. Without a doubt, Basils is one of the reasons we still go to N. Myrtle. The food couldn't be any better & the staff is excellent. In these days of businesses treating customers like a bother as opposed to a blessing, it's refreshing to visit a business like Basils & be treated with the upmost respect.

Excellent! The FOOD, the SERVICE, EVERYTHING was excellent. This restaurant is family friendly. We just happened to stop here on our way into North Myrtle Beach Saturday evening and I am so happy we did! Right when we walked in we were greeted with warm smiles from the staff. We were sat right away and our waiter was excellent and prompt. We ordered the chicken wings and a mushroom pizza and the chicken wings were good but the pizza was GREAT! Okay, this is the BEST little pizza place in North Myrtle Beach. Two thumbs up from our family to yours. Will be back next year!

Our friends rented us their condo in Cherry Grove for a few days in the off season some years ago and I asked for reasonably priced, kid friendly restaurant recommendations and Basil's was recommended for their pizza. I thought what does a southern girl know from good pizza but ok, I'll try it. It was REALLY good. I'm from Long Island, NY originally and this was definitely up to par. Just like the Pizza Parlors I grew up with.

Do not let the size or look of this place fool you. This place has great pizza. As a self declared foodie who has eaten pizza from Chicago to New york, including Lombardi's in New York City and Famous Rays. This place serves real New York style pizza. The quality is second to non with fresh ingredients and plenty of them. The price is good for the quality. The employees all were friendly and the service was top drawer. Try this place you will not be disappointed.

We eat here, at least once, everytime we are in Cherry Grove. Every menu item we have ever ordered, either take-out or eat-in, has always been terrific. If you're eating in, you won't have too many choices, as far as seating is concerned. There are a few outside tables too. If you're eating out, plan on a wait, if you order at the restaurant. It might be faster if you call in your order and pick it up later. We will go back again and again.

This was by far the best pizza we have ever had while at the beach. We go to this area (Cherry Grove or North Myrtle) every year and have tried many pizza places and the search is over. Very small place so pick your dining time when not as busy. If it is busy, it will be worth your wait. Service was a little slow but there could have been a reason. They had MANY take out orders while we waited. Pricing was good also. Will definitely be back!

For our family, there are only 3 pizza restaurants on the Grand Strand that we truly enjoy. And, Basils is #1 on that list. Their Italian Hogies and their Calzones are delicious, as well, but you go to Basil's for the pizza.

It is a very small place, with only a few tables inside. So, you may have to wait awhile to get a table. But, it is certainly worth the wait. It is a NY-style pizza, but they also add a few spices on top (probably basil).

The taste is out of this world, and the prices are very affordable. The beer is cold, and the menu has quite a few choices. I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't love this place.

3/27 AND 3/28 2008 We ordered take out from Basils. We got a large cheese pizza and 2 steak and cheese subs. The service was very quick. The staff was very friendly. We loved both items so much that we ordered takeout the next night with the addition of a grilled chicken sub. The price was resonable. We just wish we would have discovered them years ago. Cant wait go on vacation again and when we do we will be getting take out from Basils.

Without a doubt, the best calzone ever!!! I'm a retire traveling musican & I've eaten calzone all over the United States and these guys have them beat hands down! My family & I come here every year--sometimes bringing my younger brother and his family--and EVERYONE agrees this place is tops. And the guys that work there are great, as well. Very nice & accomodating. You'll not find better Italian food.

On our recent trip to N. MB, my wife wanted pizza and found Basil's to be highly recommended. Our family went for lunch on a Sunday, and came away impressed. Two of the men ordered sandwiches, they said they were good, but I don't know if this is Basil's specialty. My wife, my son, and I ordered pizza by the slice. It was very good...we each enjoyed what we ordered. My mother ordered the strombolli with ham, and it was very good with a nice dipping sauce (not your regular marinara sauce). My mother-in-law ordered the shrimp calzonne and it was enjoyed by her and my wife. They both said that it was very good. Overall, a very good experience. We will definitely go back to Basil's the next time we are in the MB area.

We ate in the shop. I ordered two (2) slices of pizza and my wife ordered a calzone. The calzone was delicious, although the sauce was a bit sweet. The pizza must have been sitting for awhile. It was overcooked and terrible.

I will tell you this is the best pizza!! We love Cherry Grove and this quaint little place was in walking distance for us each year we stay there. We are going back this weekend and will be sure to visit Basils!! Try it. The wait maybe long (because they are good) and the autmosphere is that of a pizza parlor, would you expect less. Enjoy!

Ate here on 8/17/07. If you like greasy sandy pizza eat on the pattio outside. The pepperoni pizza was extremely greasy, soaked 3 or four napkins of grease before I could eat it. Oh yeah, don't hang your arm over the patio railing cause it might get crushed by the cars zooming by within 3 inches of the patio. Leason learned: Eat Basil's pizza in-doors or in your condo and have plenty of napkins handy!

Basil's is the best pizza place in Cherry Grove!! The past 2 years vacationing there, we dont want to leave without going to Basil's at least a couple of times! The service is great, the food is amazing, and the tables outside with umbrellas are bliss on a nice summer night at the beach to enjoy your calzone. The owners are friends of my mom since high school and close friends of mine as well, and i have asked them more than a couple of times to open up some more Basil's restaurants in different areas! Make sure you try it out!

Cherry Grove (NMB) Lifeguards top choice for lunch. I enjoy Basil's food almost everyday on my lunchbreak. The best competitor for NYC pizza in the southern states, by far! The guys that work the place are very friendly, courteous, and efficient to locals AND tourists. Highly recommended to my beach customers for lunch or dinner over any other and they always come back with a smile. The place is small, so seating is first come first serve and goes fast or call in and pick up. You won't be disappointed at Basil's!
