We went before 5 PM, and they have an excellent and extensive Early Bird menu for $10.99. We both ordered the Veal Parm, and it was tender and very good. It was our first time there, but I think the portion was likely an early bird size. Even so, it was more than enough for us as it comes with a salad, bread and garlic knots. Very nice atmosphere, and the service was excellent. The owner was walking around occasionally to talk to his "guests." Top notch place at very reasonable prices. Like other reviewers said, this restaurant is in a strip mall and not associated with Valentino's II and much better.

Don't confuse this with Valentino's II formerly Cecil's. Food is the best. Also they do not have an outside deck. Its in a little shopping center. Best Italian food since New York.

Food is excellent and service is always with a smile. Great atmosphere, but can get a little noisey, as it gets very crowed on a weekend, but it's worth it! Don't confuse this original with the copy down the street...no comparison!

Excellent food that is prepared as if the chef loves his work and is proud of his dishes.Local singers add soft harmony to your experience. It is priced just right to get you perfect quality & fresheness. We loved their Brocolli Rabe & Sausage, their bread, their sauces for their various dishes, and each dinner is served with a salad. Boun Appetito ! Note their NEW address: 323 U.S. 17 Business in Surfside Beach Read more here: http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/2012/01/24/2620409/gut-reaction.html#storylink=cpy

Restaurant is not closed-- should it be? Valentinos is small; they do have an enclosed deck with fans but it is warm on the deck-- management had the brillant idea of keeping the main restaurant door open with a fan in the entry way to "cool off" the deck. Uhmmmm... Didn't happen. The restaurant is small but nicely decorated (and warm). The waitstaff was attentive and pleasant until they got busy. Our waitress forgot our my daughter's soup and my salad. We had mozz sticks, garlic knots (extremely doughy but lots of fresh garlic), wedding soup (had to remind waitress to bring) which were all ok. The one saving grace, at this point, was the size of my martini (Ketel One, no granish, no vermouth-- just chilled)-- in a big glass and filled to the rim. The kids peperoni pizza was doughy (imagine that). The penne alfredo was delicious. My veal scallopine was a little tough but tasty. The bread was brought with our meals but was a nice sourdough baguette (I made grilled turkey and swiss sandwiches on it the next day for lunch). Overall, the entire experience was fine; we will not be returning though. There are plenty of other Italian restaurants in the area.

RECENTLY OPENED AT: 323 U.S. 17 Business North, SURFSIDE BEACH. Do not just this restaurant by its outside appearance. It is located in an older shopping center, but the inside was recenly redone, and very nice. Delicious food, great service, nice atmosphere. I am a local, and we eat out often. This is the original Valentino's NOT TO BE CONFUSED with VALENTINO'S II down the street. Their food is fair at best. Head to the original, you will not be disappointed. The bread is crusty, warm and fresh. We had the mussels for an appetizer, delicious. There were four of us, and we all had something different. Veal Parm, Linguine & Clams, Chicken Cicciatore, and a specialty chicken dish. ALL DELICIOUS! The salad and dressings are only fair. This will be on my short list of favorites. Not overpriced and the portions are generous. Mangia!!!!

They must have reopened under new management and it is excellent. Expanded into next door unit and freshened interior. Family style italian cooking, nothing fancy just great portions, quality and price. Service great too. We like the local and family feel. This is the one in storefront next to "The Egg", not Valentino's II. Not sure why the one that used to be called Cecil's felt need to use someone else's name right down the street.

DO NOT EAT HERE - unless you like paying for food that is vastly different that the descriptions in the menu - basically low quality rip offs. We ordered from the menu and from the specials board - neither dish came as advertised. My wife ordered Spaghetti Carbonara which the menu stated was made traditionally with pancetta (bacon). What we got instead was Alfredo (cheese sauce) with some cheap ham in it for $17. I ordered from the "specials" board - Stuffed Eggplant - which stated that it was made with Sun-dried tomatoes and capers as part of the stuffing. Sounds good, eh? Well it had neither sun-dried tomatoes nor capers. $19. When I spoke to the owner about the 2 dishes that were clearly not what was ordered, we were told BY THE OWNER "oh, we just took over this restaurant a few months ago. This is how the old owner always made the dishes. And the special, well the chef tells me that I put up the wrong special." Funny, when I asked the waiter (the owner's son) what was in the eggplant, he looked at the handwritten specials list in his book and told me "stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes and capers - it's very good!". So - if you like being lied to your face by the owners and paying decent money for rip off look-alike food, come to Valentinos and enjoy. If you are smart, you will stay as far away from this place as possible. If you want better Italian food for the same (or less) price, drive a couple extra miles and eat at Carrabba's Italian Grill.

5/22/08 THIS BUSINESS IS FAULSLY ADVERTISING ON THEIR MENUE. DOES NOT USE ALL ITEMS LISTED IN ALL THEIR DISHES BUT CHARGES FOR THEM! Wanted to order a pizza with Cappacola (which was on menu) on the pizza, Waitress did not know what it was, checked with kitchen to see if available, no. While reviewing menu noticed this was mentioned in different dishes, where prices have increased, Spoke with OWNER about this, was told did not have capacola, never offered substitute or price decrease in menu item. Was spoken to by OWNER EXTREMELY RUDELY about this. Owners claiming they are new, personnally know they have owned this establishment for more than 6 months. Time enought to up prices on all items on menu (which are not the last menues from the previous owners) . These people are charging for items on the menu that they are not using in their prepreation of the dishes. THIS IS FRAUD!!!

I had heard there were new owners and decided to check things out. I was quite impressed with everything. The bread and dipping oil were outstanding...by far my favorite. The food was delicious. I was with a party of eight and my husband and I were the only ones that weren't frequenting the restaurant several times a week. We just didn't know! As a business owner myself, I will be suggesting this place to everyone who asks, "Where's a good place to eat?" I loved it!

During the recent vacation in Myrtle Beach, we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to eat twice at this restaurant. While it's not one of your fancier establishments, it's a great family restaurant. They have a great menu, which makes selecting a dinner rather difficult, but no matter what you choose, it will be fantastic. The owner, John, is a very personable fellow and you can tell he loves his job. Highly recommended when you're tired of the seafood menu!

We live here and are good friends of John and Rosa. We knew of them selling the restaurant and between being happy for them we were unhappy for us. We went the other night with trepidation and basically will not be going back. The food is not the same, italian salad dressing too oily and no taste, blue cheese dressing with vinegar?, white clam sauce much to oily and when going to pay the check - it took 10-15 min. for anyone to approach our table. When we spoke to the new owner about the obvious problems all he did was give us an attitude. IF he had given us half the chance we would have told him that some of the meals were ok. But unfortunately for him that did not happen. Needless to say we did not stay for the complimentary dessert. Most of the people we know in the area will be hearing of this event. The restaurant business's here are for tourists - but they will not live long through the cold winter with the locals.....

The new owners Ilona and Carmen are fantastic. We were greeted upon entering where Carmen told us about all of the fantastic specials. Our server could not have been more attentive. The food was the best Italian I have had in a long time. Depending when you prefer to dine, early you get a quiet dining experience, or later possibly live music which we found on our second time there.

While at your restaurant on Saturday the 23rd of February, we were very dissatisfied with our service. The waitress and busy boy were very pleasant. They took care of us promptly. The kitchen staff left a lot to be desired. We were seated at 5pm. Our drinks and appetizers were brought out shortly. We finished those and our soups and salads were brought out. We then waited until 6:45, after well finishing the first two courses, for the main meals to come out. Only 4 meals came out and 20 minutes later the other 2 meals came out. The lasagna that my mother had ordered was cold. The waitress took it back and when it came out again it was a different dish. It had vodka sauce with bits of sausage in it. We did not leave the restaurant until 7:30 pm. We were very disappointed. We had ticket to Legends and had to hurry and eat to make it to the 8 pm show. We also had my parents here from Maine for my mom’s birthday. T top it off another table who ordered all lobsters and bigger meals had the owner say to them how sorry he was due to waiting and brought them out a bottle of wine . Granted we did not really care about that because that is what a good owner should do. It seemed the owner was picking which tables he checked on and didn’t go around and ask everyone how they were doing. We overheard him saying to the hostess that he didn’t care if they came back as we were leaving. We did not know who he was talking about, but did not feel that this was professional with people standing in line waiting to get in and people walking past him to leave. Coming from an Italian heritage we are used to having authentic Italian meals. We often eat at upscale restaurants in Massachusetts and other places in the North. Your restaurant doesn’t even come close. It was very disappointing. My girlfriend was there before it changed owners, which is why we went there, and it was fantastic. I have never felt the need to have to write a letter like this to a restaurant in Myrtle Beach.

After the owner, Carmine, personnally helped us when parking for our first sampling at Valentino's, he explained with excitement many stand-out reasons why the food would be outstanding, and he was right! Besides the excellent NY-style fare, we were treated with unusually enjoyable classic music and first-class singing during our dinner. Everything was terrific, and we're planning to come back again next weekend for more!

My husband and I go to Valentinos at least once a year for the fabulous food. The bread is divine, but make sure to ask for the dipping oil (provided upon request at no charge)! The olives in the anti pasta are the best I've ever tasted so we ask for a side order and they happily accomodate us. The entrees are excellent and you won't leave hungry! The owners treat us like family and we highly reccomend this dining experience. A truly great meal in a charming setting!!!! A MUST TRY!

I read about the new ownership in a recent news article, So always looking for a new place to eat on the strand, my wife and I gave it a try. Much to our suprise we found an Italian restaurant that reminded us of one back home in new york. The new owners came and talked to us and seemed like they actually cared about their customers rather than serving and pushing us out the door like so many others around here. The food was excellent and they even had free homemade desserts to go with our meal. The carrot cake was out of this world!..again great service, great food, great place to dine.....we will be back!!!

We noticed a full parking lot (usually a good sign) and decided to try since we were in an Itialian mood. Good decision! Food was very good, a little over priced, but good. We don't mind paying more when its worth it. Owner was extreamly friendly, as was all the crew. The free desert was a nice touch and was also very good. We had the cheese cake. We thought charging for the second basket of bread was unnecessary and a bit tacky. We will definately go back because it was truly authenic Itialian and good food!

This place is amazing! OMG the cheescake is to die for. The decor has now been updated, has a fresh look and feel. The owners Carmen and Ilona came and sat at our table and just chatted while our delicious food was prepared. This is a place the whole family can come, eat, and enjoy. My only suggestion is to wear clothing with elastic in the waist. 5 STARS all the way

We used to go to this restaurant frequently when we lived a little closer and absolutely loved it. We've recommended it to many friends.

After about two years, we returned a few weeks ago and were SO disappointed. The restuarnt was dirty. The ladies bathroom was in terrible condition. It was clear to me it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned or maintained for quite some time.

The owner was also present during our visit. He was wearing some old jeans and an untucked shirt. He looked sloppy and unprofessional. At one point I went back out to our car to grab something and he was sitting just beside the main steps up into the restaurant smoking a cigarette. Yuck.

One really nice touch this restaurant has is an accordian player. He was so nice to my children and really made our evening pleasant.

The food here is good, no doubt about that. I know we won't return, though due to the poor condition of the restaurant itself.

My family and I had spent the whole day at the aquarium, and we were EXHAUSTED. We wanted food, and we wanted some place quiet, and with good food. My mother-in-law remembered there was an Italian restaurant somewhere along 17, and we stumbled on Valentino's (even though we later found it out it was NOT the right place).

The food was in a word -- phenomenal. They had just opened for the evening, so the place was empty. George and Angie could have been very lackadaisical, but they treated us like royalty. They joked with us, food was brought out perfectly, and in short, we felt like we'd been coming there for years.

The very next time I go to Myrtle Beach, a long side of any other attractions, I will make it a definite point to go back to Valentino's. They may not have a giant neon sign, they may not have 120 items on a buffet, but they have the kind of service I want when I go out to eat (and a damn fine cannoli too!).

Im from New York. I moved here to MB 2 years ago. Simply put, if you want Italian food that is reminiscent of what you would get from the best Italian restaurants on the earth, yes I'm talking about Brooklyn, this is the place for you. Rosa and her husband treat everyone like family.

It was a very memorable experience for my family. We are still talking about it to this day. George was a wonderful waiter. We were planning a 5 star experience, and this turned out to be barely a 2 star. The food was average. We had traditional spaghetti and chicken parmesean. And the atmosphere was an elderly friendly neighborhood crowd. The decor needs much updating. But the restaurant seemed clean.

The person rating the quality of the food poor...must be from Valentino's competition.or not use to real Italian food ..This place is absolutely the Best!

Food... the sauces are perfect... but if pizza hut is your standard...you might be disappointed.

Service... our waitress...made suggestions that were sincere... and very knowlegeable!

Atmosphere...sorry tourists...This place just wouldn't be for you if you are looking for 20 ft ceilings..decorated with shark jaws!

I had heard wonderful things about the restaurant so was disappointed when my entree tasted like it was pre-cooked and re-heated. The food on the plate was different temperatures! Maybe I should try it again....maybe not.

My extended family and I (20+) all love this place--we come here every year. This year, my sister and her family were able to make it down from Pennsylvania; they also had a great time!! Can't wait to go back!!

I adore Valentinos! Rose and her staff do everything to make you feel at home.I had been there several times and was so pleased, I decided to have my wedding dinner there. Every last detail was handled to my specifications and everyone raved about the food, the service, and the atmosphere. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT.

The BEST Italian food anywhere on the strand! We've tried them all, and no one has better or more polite service! Went on Valentines Day and didn't have a reservation, but was seated right away....even had an accordian player to set the mood and was served complimentary strawberries and champagne for dessert!! We love this place and highly recommend it!

We went here in the middle of July and did not have any problem making reservations for a party of 10. The owner, from Sicily, was very polite and helped us with our many accommodations, such as separate bills and seating on a certain side of the restaurant. The meal started with this incredible homemade bread, fresh from the oven. The food was excellent and the portions were more than generous. Everything was very authentic. The service was wonderful. It was a pleasurable experience and we are looking forward to future visits to this great Italian restaurant.
