Review: We had a wonderful lunch when we visited in January. Steaks were well seasoned, tender and cook to perfection. We loved the atmosphere. Very family oriented. We felt right at home. Great service and great food. It was our first time eating there, but not our last!!!!

Review: Our server was a bonehead. Went to get hot rolls; forgot to bring them. Brought someone else's salad. Never checked to see if we needed anything. When asked for check she said it would be just a minute - more like 10. She said bad service was due to being shorthanded; but, she always had time to "chat" with her wo-workers. The steak was great, though.

Review: Visited in Aug., '07 and weren't totally impressed with the restaurant. The food was just average and honestly the appetizer stands out more than the entree! We had the loaded fries as an appetizer and they were delicious. My rib dinner was just o.k. My husband had a steak which he said wasn't great. Kids had cheeseburgers and what do kids know about rating food--a cheeseburger is a cheeseburger to them! Go for the appetizers only! And about those TV's at the tables, I had mixed feelings. If I want to eat dinner and watch tv simultaneously, why not eat home? We make it a practice that dinner time is exclusively family time. No Gameboys, IPODS, etc. whether home or on vacation.

Review: Overall the atmosphere was good and family friendly. We had a tough time finding parking in the small unorganized lot but by the time we found a spot our name was called. We ordered some appetizers such as the onion loaf which was very good. My family's meals were fine however, I ordered the "best on the beach" ribs and would have rather eaten the beach. They were cold and the sauce was dried on. They just weren't appealing, especially when advertised as best on the beach. I would return to this restaurant but just order something different.

Review: This was our first dining experience at Thornys. We thought the food was lower quality. My wife's flounder tasted like frozen fish sticks. The 'award winning' ribs reminded me of every other bar b que with sauce from a 5 gallon container smoothered over it. I told my wife while I was eating the ribs that if this was the winner, I'd hate to try the losers. I didn't eat half of my Gulf shrimp. Perhaps they should obtain their shrimp from the Atlantic; this might make them more palatable. Most of the food was served luke warm. Our daughter had the chicken fingers and fries and she enjoyed it but, like many kids, she's not a finicky eater. The food wasn't horrible but it's nothing we'd want to try again with all the other fine restaurants in the area. On a good note, the waitress was very friendly and helpful.

Review: First time at this restaurant. Have been enjoying restaurants on the Strand for twenty years. The noise level is total unacceptable. Numerous tv's and various volume levels is not a condition to produce an enjoying dinning experience. Why if there are tv's at each table must there be large tv's positioned around the bar. Is this a sports bar or an imitation upscale restaurant? I understand the drive to have a smoke free atmosphere while eating, but no seems to address the assault on the noise level which patrons have to endure when dinning with out of town friends. Doesn't make for the reason to dine--good food, good conversation and pleasant experience. Food was plentiful, service was adequate; would not recommend during the busy summer season.

Review: I like this place but the food is just average to me. I like the tv's at every table and you get to control the channel and volume. That is too cool. Also, a great place for the kids. Give it a shot.

Review: My wife and I ate at Thorny’s on our summer vacation to Myrtle Beach. It was a large restaurant. It took us longer than usual to be seated as compared to similar places in the area. There are lots of TVs. The noise level was not too bad. Our waitress did an average job. I had a ribeye and my wife had smothered chicken. Our meals were acceptable.

Review: Read the reviews saw the signs, decided to eat here. Arrived early and was seated in a corner booth where you had to look straight up to a corner pole ansd see the TV. Lots of tables and booths open with great views and TV's in the booth. I guess you have to be someone special to get a view of the TV.

Food was good, my wife had the sirloin and I had the ribeye, we both had baked sweet potatoes and salads. Salad was a little skimpy, the yeast rolls were cold, but the steak and the sweet potatoes were great. I may try this restaurant again. Maybe the hostess just didn't like our looks, and gave us the worst seat in the house.

Review: The hostess was very friendly & seated us immediately which was great. We were a party of 10 (3 families where 1 family included 2 children) & the gratuity was 18% which is not a problem if the service is good. The waitress acted like she was doing us a favor by even helping us. We were not a problem group, no special orders, etc, just straight from the menu. Apparently when the tip is added in the waitress/waiter staff feel they do not have to be nice which is why we did not return. Our food was very good and tasty but the service stunk. We liked the "blooming onion" (from the past) better compared to the onion loaf. If the onions in the onion loaf were shredded/ stringed a littled more they may be more tasty. We enjoyed the children play area & the prices were not bad for a good steak place. Our table had no TV and we had to either watch one on a nearby table or tables to the side of us or lean back, turn around or stretch to see a TV. As it was a rather loud atmosphere we had trouble hearing people at our own table. Due to the level of sound/noise one could easily get a headache there.

Review: We went to Thorny's on South Kings Highway on a Wednesday early evening with a group of 7; wait time wasn't too bad, only about 10 minutes.

Service had alot to be desired, I don't think our waitress knew how to smile.

Salads and appetizers came fairly quickly and were OK. Meals were another matter; we waited and waited and waited, and to top it off not one time did the waitress return to refill drinks; finally the manager came over for refill orders and to help the waitress serve the food when it was finally ready. They weren't that busy but the manager seemed to be running around like a chicken with his head cut off not knowing what to do next but trying to do everything.

Can't complain about the noise, was the type of place you would see a bunch of kids running around but it didn't help that they sat us at a table in the middle of all the mayhem.

Food was mediocore. I had the ribs and shrimp - ribs had very little flavor and shrimp were cold - but to try to track someone down to fix it.........one of the parties had fettucini alfredo and the waitress looked at her like she had 2 heads when she asked for no chicken and that came COLD - they obviously microwaved it and never even re-stirred it so the top was hot but not the rest. Would I got back? I might just to give them another try, that's if we get back to MB.

Review: The food was great and so was the service. It was a bit pricey, but then again, if you want a great steak.... pay the price. The atomosphere was awesome. TV's in each booth, and play area for the little ones. How great is that... even though I don't have little kids anymore. We will return...

Review: We discovered Thorny's last summer and can't wait to go there again in July. It was one of our favorite restaurants. I ordered the ribs, my husband the prime rib, and son a steak. All were delicious. One of the best places to eat!

Review: We were compelled to write this review, as we had one of the best meals we have ever had in Myrtle Beach. The prime rib was so tender and tasty and the portion was huge! Everything about the meal was perfect, the soup and chile we ordered was tasty and served piping hot. We just can't say enough about the restaurant. We will definitely be eating there again and taking our friends. If you want a good quality, and great tasting meal, be sure to eat at Thorny's!!

Review: This was the first sitdown restaurant we ate at when we moved here. I won't go back. The service was fine, nothing spectacular and the atmosphere was ok.

My son did love the game room, which kept him entertained while waiting for meal.

The big draw back (and the main reason for going) is the food, which I thought to be extremely small portions and overpriced.

They lure you in with the specials, but then they are very simple meals, then were out of some items.

The meals we did get were nothing more than I could have thrown on my grill at home and presentation of the food was poor. No flavor or taste.

So if you are interested in atmosphere, you can go, but I wasn't impressed at all.

Review: We went there for the first time in 25 years of going to Myrtle Beach. The food was awesome, and came in a timely manor, however, it was definitely NOT served with a smile. We never one time came into contact with anyone that smiled, or even acted like they wanted to be there, or even wait on us. I do recommend the restaurant, because the food was so good, but don't look for anybody to go out of their way to say 'hi' or give you a friendly smile.

Review: The food was mediocre at best. The salad I ordered contained "mixed greens" which apparently at Thorny's means they mix the iceberg lettuce with the cucumber and tomato, and it was the same size as the side salads served with several of the other entrees. The wait to be seated was not bad for a Friday at 6:30PM, but, the call ahead seating we were told we could get was not available when we called as we were leaving to go to the restaurant. Myrtle Beach has plenty of better choices than Thorny's!

Review: We ate at Thorny's when we visited Myrtle Beach in March. The steaks were delicious, cooked to perfection, the potatoes, veggies and salads were just as good! The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with different themes in different areas, the waitstaff, friendly and funny. A great experience all around. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are passing through the Myrtle Beach area!

Review: Thorny's Steakhouse is one of the best, maybe the best restaurant in Myrtle Beach SC. They have GREAT salads, rolls, baked potatoes, and ribs with meat that just falls off the bone. With awesome servers that care about your needs and get you what you want. Don't worry about waiting for your food to come. It takes no time, if for some reason it takes a little longer you can always watch the t.v. at your table. Turn to any station you wanna watch. Thorny's is a great HIP restaurant, and I think everyone should try it. I'm almost positive you will love it.

Review: This is just a great restaurant! I've had steak, fried flounder & ribs, and all were as good as they get. They have a large variety on the menu as well as a great atmosphere. The no smoking section is large and the staff aims to please. You've got to try the hot bacon salad dressing, I mix it with their blue cheese.

Review: I do NOT recommend Thorny's to anyone!! Our food was well below average. The serving sizes were small compared to other places. I feel like they are over priced on food menu items. Waiting on food to arrive was extremely LONG unlike most places similiar to Thorny's. Noise level was too high that you could not even hear the music & had to practically yell across the table at one another to be heard. The decor was okay, time to be seated was average. Service was lousy. Our waitress was not friendly & acted like she cared less whether we ate there or not but we still left a tip anyway. They claimed to be out of Calabash Shrimp SO we had to order Gulf Shrimp instead & their so-called Gulf Shrimp is the size of Calabash Shrimp! I was really surprised that they would be OUT of Calabash Shrimp at the beginning of dinner time customers. They got our orders mixed up by serving baked potato instead of fries. Soda tasted flat. Will not bother to return. Ended up paying bill of $87 dollars & change not too mention the additional tip ~ felt ripped off. This was at the Myrtle Beach location on S. Kings Hwy.

Review: What more could you ask for?! Every year we spend the summer at Lands Inn on 1st and ocean. We stumbled upon Thorny's one year and have never spent dinner time with our family anywhere else. The food is great, everyone makes you feel right at home, and my kids love that while waiting for others to finish eating they can play with other children in the spacious play area...Never will we go somewhere else... Did I mention how great the food was?
