We went to the Biscuit Shack the other morning and I ordered an omelet, hash browns, and a biscuit. Well, I got the omelet and the hash browns and they were ok. Throughout the entire meal I never got my biscuit b/c they were supposedly out......how does the "biscuit" shack run out of biscuits? I kept seeing biscuits coming out to surrounding tables so when questioned the waitress told me that it was "company policy" that as a waitress she could not go into the kitchen and just get a plain biscuit at this point and bring to me. How dumb does that sound? She said that the cooks were incharge of the biscuits and right now they were busy so they didn't have extras available b/c they were all being served with other orders. Well, I ordered one! We asked to speak to the manager/owner. When she came to the table she gave us the same spill. At this point I was getting pretty aggravated and had also finished my food by this time. While she was at the table we said "we think you should change our bill then since we didn't get what we ordered" and she actually said these exact words to us "I don't think that is going to happen" as she walked away from us. I spoke my mind to her as she went into the kitchen.....very loud too I might add. Several other people left that had been seated at surrounding tables at this point.....thank goodness they didn't have to put up with such iggnorance as this. She actually sent the waitress out with a biscuit on a plate for me after that....which I didn't really even want at this point. It is just the principle of the matter. It is the BISCUIT shack for crying out loud. PLEASE DON'T EVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!

I guess the first thing I noticed when I was seated that there was no cool air of any kind in the place. It was very hot inside, and all the workers were sweating as well as myself. I ordered shrimp that was awful. I should have went to a fast food, it's much better. I guess you live and learn . So don't waste your money there.

Anyone who likes this food has not had real southern cooking. (I've noticed a lot of the positive reviews are from northern reviewers.) The biscuits were gas station quality and burnt on the bottom. The steak biscuit was awful. From reading the other reviews, maybe we didn't get their best quality because we're tourists. The fact that they don't take credit cards (and worse yet don't bother to post a simple "cash only" sign) is very poor customer service. The smoking staff is also a real turn off. Bottom line--don't waste your money on this place.

My husband and I went to Myrtle Beach for our honeymoon. We drove through from Georgia which took us nine hours so we arrived at 5am we saw the biscuit shack on our way in and since I love breakfast food I really wanted to try it out. So we check into our condo and slept for a few hours then we drove around trying to decide what to eat after driving around we decided on the biscuit shack it was about noon and so I went in expecting some good southern breakfast after we sat ourself's it took the server 5 minutes to get to our table with the menu and then realize the biscuit shack doesn't serve breafast all day so we decided on the pork dinner I ordered first and my husband said I will have what she is having the server said "what if I say you can't have what she is having" then turned and walked away. Our food came out and you could not tell what in the world she brought the pork looked like breakfast sausage that had been carmalized...the fries and hushpuppies were def. cooked in the same grease that the fish was cooked in. The food was nasty. There were several servers eating at a table behind us and everyone of them gave us dirty looks not to mention every server was smoking. I think if you are going to have a restaurant your employee's should smoke outside. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This place is awesome in every aspect...... We rent a house on cherry grove every march and we start our day at the Biscuit Shack. The people, staff, the food and the atmosphere is just so down home and friendly. We cant say enough great things about boots and john. This is a definite have to stop and experience place to go when you are in the myrtle beach area..

This is a down-home restaurant where the locals eat. My husband and I ate here while on vacation last year and we made sure to do the same this year. This is a no-frills-pull-up-a-chair-homestyle-cookin' southern diner. Breakfast was first rate, grits & biscuits were exceptional. We stopped again for lunch on both visits and ya can't beat the deal: choose 1 meat (our choices were 2 pork chops, fried chicken or ham), and 3 sides (choose from-mashed potatoes, rice, garden peas, pinto beans, collard greens, peas, pears) rolls and tea include for a grand total (with tax) of $6.00. The servers passed the time of day, were pleasant and quick in serving. I'd recommend this diner to anyone who really enjoys diners. This isn't a high class place, but it's southern food at its best. We'll be back.

My boyfriend and I went to eat here recently... I have to say, this is one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. The gravy tasted like someone accidentally poured sugar in it instead of salt. It's gross just to think about it. Not to mention, the staff was as unfriendly as could be and wouldn't even smile at you! Would not waste my time if I were you!

This was our first visit to the Biscuit Shack for breakfast. We chose it because from the number of cars and the sign outside, that it must be popular and well established. We were welcomed when we entered. The prices, service, and food were great. My husband had grits, bacon and fried eggs. I had pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs. The pancakes were so light and fluffy, and it was nice to have the option of regular or sugar free pancake syrup. The server was very attentive and kept our coffee cups filled. The only problem we encountered was upon entering the restaurant, there was a very strong smell of cigarette smoke. And being nonsmokers, we found this to be offensive.

I have always enjoyed Biscuit Shack, but recently Boots is extremely stingy with the air conditioning. It seems to always be at least 90 degrees in there, and the food quality has gone to h**l in a "biscuit basket". Service is wonderful, especially under these conditions! Advice: Worry about your food and customers now, and your power bill later!

This is the worst restaurant my husband and I have ever eaten in and we have lived in the south for a long time. The wait staff went out of their way to be rude and surly and the food was not something that was something worth returning for. I am not a blue blood and neither is my husband. We were appalled at the behavior of the wait staff not only to us, but to surrounding tables. Hint- IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE A TOURIST TRADE IN YOUR ESTABLISMENT DO NOT HAVE A BUSINESS IN A TOURIST AREA or at least train your staff how to be courteous to all people and not just the locals they seem to favor so very much. It was disgustingly blatant the behavior changes in the staff as they went from table to table and would change their surly nasty behavior to down home how ya doing what do ya need. I am surprised the owners haven't been slapped with a lawsuit for discrimination due to the behavior toward tourists..... I don't know what type of bad luck has been served up in life to the wait staff and the other employees that they need to be so outrageously rude and I am sorry if you have had bad luck, but it is absolutely no excuse for such rude nasty mean behavior toward your customers. It is simply VERY BAD MANNERS and there is no excuse for it when YOU CHOOSE to work in the public arena. If you hate tourists so so much, get some help in dealing with it or go somewhere else to work because what I saw in that restaurant was horrible. I work with sick people every day and if I treated one of your family the way you treated my family today, you would have my fanny on a platter and serve it to me.... Think of that the next time you are as nasty as you are to the "outsiders" that tip you or give you "business". Add the above to the overall sloppiness of the waitstaff, the dirt, the poor quaility of the sandwiches and the sides, believe me, we will not be back. And the owners should be ashamed of the behavior of their employees. As a former supervisor, I would have had an employee in my office in a millisecond if she had treated a patient like we were treated today. Shame on all you.... food service, and public service.... you don't treat people like they are dirt. ever. period.

This place was the best place in town for breakfast. I do not know why they changed food service providers but you certainly can tell that the quality of the food has gone down compared to what they used to serve.

I still eat there sometimes and would recommend it, but I know what they are capable of and it is just a disappointment to see a good place take a step backwards.

We ate at the Buscuit Shack for the very first time last year while on vacation. My family loved the buscuit breakfast sandwiches. We went back this year and were very disapoointed. Our family got seated in the non-smoking section of the restaurant which is a closed in porch with no air condtioning. The waitress was not very friendly. There was no milk for the kids. The sausage served looked like large pieces of italian sausage but it wasn't. The kids wouldn't touch it. The busciuts were good but cold as was the rest of the meal. The waitress had some of our food baskets under her arm as mentioned in another review. Either that was the same waitess or under arm carrying is a common practice. The icing on the cake so to speak was the coffee. It was not just terrible but scary. The coffee was very black. We used all of the small creamers to try to lighten it but it did not help. It just turned the top of the coffee beige and would not stay mixed into the coffee. It looked greasy. If you go the the Shack, go for the local atmosphere and buscuits, don't ask for non-smoking and don't order coffee.

DO NOT GO HERE! First when we walked in we were told that the non-smoking section is on the back porch. We had to walk through the smoking section (even the waiters were smoking) to get to our seat. The view from our seat was of the dumpsters...gross. My mom's food was burned and nothing was fresh. My biscuits and gravy were OK but not what I would have expected b/c of the name. Sometimes you can find good food at dives but this is not the place. We left feeling sick from not only the food but also the smoke we could smell in the non-smoking section. Also it is not very clean.

The entire resturant was smoking.....except for a few tables located in a hallway type area.....after the meal we attempted to pay and were advised that they did not accept credit cards. I had to leave my family waiting at the front of the resturant and drive to an atm to get cash. The resturant has no sign posted advising customers that credit cards are not accepted. When I was paying I asked to speak to the owner to inquire as to why it wasnt advertised that no cc accepted. The owner was arrogant and smug and condesending. She advised that she didnt have to post anything and that she didnt have a sign up advising they did accept cc's either. And also that she had been there for 30 years without credit cards. My family nor friends will never spend our hard earned money at this low class dirty smokey dump again. The owners attitude was an insult on top of an absolute horrible dining experience..

Great place to eat, reasonable prices, and really friendly family atmosphere. The Biscuit Shack is the reason I go down to the same area every year. In general cherry grove is a great place to vacation but if your ever in Myrtle Beach definetly stop by the Biscuit Shack!.

Lots of locals came in (they had to be, the folks at the restaurant knew them by name) and were IMMEDIATELY waited on! We might as well have been sitting in the ocean waiting... The food is great. Sausage and Cheese omlett is unbeatable. They have a grits bowl called TRASH. Try it, you will be surprised with how good it is. Seating can be an issue due to the popularity of the Biscuit Shack. When you come in stand in line and wait for a table to open. When you see it grab it dirty or not. Service does leave a lot to be desired, even for regulars. But the personalities of the waitresses usually makes up for the slowness.

We normally go to the Biscuit Shack a couple of times a year when we are on vacation. I am not terribly fond of the food or service there but by comparison to other breakfast places around the area it is one of the better ones. I do think that the servers need to wear more than a tank top, shorts, and flip flops while serving food. Is there no health code around the area??? If you go, and I will again, I would recommend the waffles. They taste homemade so that is a definate plus for the Biscuit Shack!

The Biscuit Shack had good food and Boots the owner had a very loud and foul mouth the morning we were there. A waitress had allowed a man to enter without a shirt and boots hit the ceiling!"They'll take my f-----g licenses" she told the waitress! Actually my family still goes on about "Boots" the owner! Great food and prices also at lunch! Thanks again Boots!

We just had breakfast at Biscuit Shack, which was as "home-town" as it gets. Had pancakes and eggs and grits and homemade biscuits, all of which were great. Met and talked with life-time locals while there; one a tobacco buyer and one a real estate developer who has watched, and been part of, this area's changes for decades. Very quaint locals' restaurant. We highly recommend it for its local flavor.
