We have been going to Stevens for over twenty years. The same sweet lady always greet us at the door. Hands down the best seafood I have ever had! The scallops are the biggest I have ever seen! The clam strips and oysters are awesome as well. They have crushed ice, which I love and the best sweet tea around! Please give this place a try!

I took some guests here in Jan. The lady?? Gave us menus and went back to talking to her friends. The service was awful. I had to go to the kitchen door twice to find our server. Our baked potatoes were cold and the new ones she brought were lukewarm. The hush puppies were so greasy we could not eat. Our flounder was undercooked. We were so embarrassed to have brought our guests. Never again

I am a local and the owner sure does price her food really high for what its worth. The service was horrible.. The owner stood behind her desk and smoked on her vapor cig the whole entire time really? go out back be polite... The kids meal is CRAZY...my son got a sprite and it was $3.95? No we will not be back and alot of other locals feel this way as well. Hope she can rely on the Tourist!

I began carrying my friends and family about 4 years ago. The food was good as was the service. We were always seated away from the front. Therefore we did not encounter any problems However a couple of months ago we went and were seated close the cashiers perch. The owner sat up there and smoked one cigarette after another and spraying in between each smoke. When I asked the server if this was a smoking or non-smoking establishment she apologized for the problem but said the owner felt as if she could smoke if she pleased even though no one else could. I did not mention this to any one else in my family but was told about a month later that the same thing happened to my sister and her family. We won't be going back.

We had an oyster roast, clam roast and crab legs for dinner for a total of $60 including taxes...unheard of at the beach! Excellent seafood at a simple family restaurant. We will go home and have our wine now (as no alcohol is served), but would come back in a heartbeat. Very casual. The cranky old lady in the previous review was anything but that...she was very attentive.

Been going there 20+ yrs. Last night one person of 6 said the shrimp tasted funny and the salad dressing was sour. The "lady" that runs it came close to telling the couple they did not know what shrimp tasted like. 3 -4 yrs back you had to wait in line 45 - 60 min. The last two times we have been there you just walk in and the lady hands upi a menu and lets you seat yourself. To many good places with friendly people to eat here again.

We are going to NMB next week..specifically to eat at Steven's......(prob. more than once!). My family discovered Steven's 40-45 years ago. It may not be the fanciest place in NMB, but by far the BEST..Fresh seafood...Oyster roasts are great...a few years ago, they added an oyster cocktail to their menu-Full cup of fresh, raw oysters..I get that and my husband gets a shrimp cocktail....Then we share a fried shrimp and oyster plate..Light breading allows one to taste the seafood!! Can't wait to get there..Last year we drove from Oak Island just to eat at Stevens..Hope no one else finds out our "secret"!!!!

We have a vacation Condo and a Mobil at N Myrtle Beach. Oyster Season is our favorite time and Stevens has the best Steamed oysters I have ever eaten. Their seafood is delecious and we eat that too in the off season but we can hardly wait to get the Oyster roast. Their seafood is lightly battered and fried not greasy. Come on down and try Stevens you won't be sorry you did. Not a chain but a locally owned Resturant. You will wonder why you ever went any where else to eat Seafood!

Restaurant was not busy. We ordered the oyster roast. We had to pay EXTRA for the butter. We had to pay EXTRA for the crackers. The crackers were stale and we told the waitress. Her answer was, " They can't be stale. We just opened a new box." We were almost finished when she brought different crackers and said she had tasted a pack and they were stale. Too late for us. My husband had fried oysters and they were over cooked. We only went to Stevens because we wanted the oyster roast. I will find another place. We went back in spring and got there around 7:45. Our food came quick and was cold. Nothing worst than fried seafood that has been sitting. Thursday night was my last trip. Now I know why they weren't busy.

If you're looking for a painted plate and a lot of frills, keep going south down Hwy 17. We started going to Steven's years ago because we don't like chains and tourist traps. They didn't disappoint. Beware, they don't try to wow you with anything except for their food (and they do).

Our service was not good at all. We waited and waited then when we finally got our food, it was handed to us, not served pleasantly. Maybe our waitress was just having a bad day. My family only ate about half of what was on their plate. The food was just not good at all. We are not particular people, this food was way below average for us. About an hour or so after we got home, our son-in-law was very sick. He was up most of the night in the bathroom. We will not be going back to Steven's. We were very disappointed in the food, service and value. We recommend Ella's in Calabash.

My husband and I decided to try Steven's Oyster Roast June 30 . We had been told by a friend how wonderful the food was there . We arrived and were told to "Just have a seat anywhere." The parking lot being empty , should have been a dead give away . We ordered two seafood platters . The batter in which they fried the fish in wasn't done and so when you took a bite , it was soggy . The fish had a very fishy flavor and they were very watery . The person who was working the cash register kept watching us as we ate . She also was smoking and trying to hide her cigarette as she smoked . We had a young child take our bill and ran our debit card , wow how professional was that ! This place may be where all the locals go , but it would be worth a little further drive down to Calabash .

We had an EXCELLENT experience! We Will return. The food was awesome. (7 in our party and everyone ordered the seafood platter which included scallops, shrimp, flounder, oysters and an incredible stuffed crab... we ordered broiled but they seemed to be steamed... STILL, the food was EXCELLENT). The ONLY negative was the fact that they make it impossible to tip via credit card. They had a sign posted near the register that we noticed while waiting for our food... "Please tip your server with cash... our credit card machine will accept the total for your meal only". My wife asked the cashier if we could simply add the tip to our total bill for our meal, and she was told "no, the tickets must match each order at the end of each evening". (The service received was superb and we wanted to tip accordingly). Why make it impossible to tip the staff?? I can add a tip via credit card at my local barber shop!

We have been coming down to Myrtle Beach at least for one week since 1951. Needless to say we have dined at many of the area restaurants up and down the Grand Strand and Calabash. We just found Steven's three years ago and have been delighted to make the discovery. For me they have the best flounder yet. We make it a point to eat here several times each year and in between as we do come down several times a year.

My family and I selected Steven's based on the positive reviews from this site. Sadly, all of us were disappointed in the quality and price of the food. We tried the flounder, shrimp, oysters and scallops. I consider the quality to be similar or perhas less than Captain D's or Long Johns, but at least double the price. Per the reviews, the hushpuppies were very good if you're relating them to doughnut holes or similar flavor to funnel cakes... I liked them. The staff was friendly and we appreciated the opportunity.

We went with a party of 8 - 4 adults and 4 kids on a Thursday night. We had clam chowder (very good), She-crab soup (also yummy), shrimp salad (lots of shrimp), fisherman's platter (tons of seafood - all tasted very fresh), combo platters (again, plentiful) and dinner salads. The hushpuppies were especially good, french fries not so much. Very nice waitress, good iced tea - both sweet and unsweet. Wish we'd had room to try the desserts... will have to go back!

We have a condo in Cherry Grove and got clued to this place a couple years back. We always go for dinner. It is unpretentious and, more importantly, doesn't seem to exist to parasitically attach itself to tourist dollars like so many places along the rows on 17. Food is very good, quality is likewise. Most items seem made on site (rather than coming from a purveyor like Sysco or US Foodservice). Biggest thing is that they don't overcook and over-batter the seafood. I always recommend Stevens.

We arrived just as the restaurant opened for dinner. The smell of cleaning disinfectent hit you as you entered the place. The atmosphere is like a bad cafeteria. The owner runs the place like a sherriff. From her command post she peers out onto the customers as they eat. The flounder was fishy. The slaw unflavorful and the shrimp soggy. The hushpuppies were the best part of the meal. We can't wait for Hoskins to re-open for the season!

We ate at Steven's for the first time this week based on the recommendation of a local we met at a different restaurant. It was very good. I had the fried oysters and they were cooked perfectly. The hushpuppies were wonderful too. A little sweet. I would love to come back during the oyster roast season. The owner said it was over at the end of March this year. They weren't crowded while we were there and I didn't notice any smoke issues.

Best shrimp, oysters and crabcake in the area! We had the Senior plate and it was plenty of food at a very reasonable price. The seafood was prepared just as we like--in a light batter! The sides were delicious too. The iced tea was very good and we had refills when needed. The service was also exceptional and we will be returning as soon as we get back to the beach!

We have a condo at Cherry Grove and Steven's is a must every trip. Sometimes we eat there more than once during a week stay or less. We usually order broiled flounder and find it better than most restaurants. If you are not health conscious and eat fried, the shimp and flounder are both excellent.

A large group from our church went to eat last night. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Our waitress was wonderful and worked the whole group of tables by herself and did a great job! Some got the roast and some plates. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. No one left hungry. We loved the atmosphere - it is like a fish camp style and people were up talking to friends that were also eating there. Just a comfortable and relaxed time of great seafood and fun. We all are in agreement to go back next month!

We were told about this place 10 or more year ago by some freinds that live near by. Every trip to the strand includes one or more visits to Stevens. The amazing thing is that the quality of the food and the price value uis as good to day as it was 10 years ago.

For the past 20 years every time we go to the beach I have to eat at Steven's Oyster Roast --it is the best food for the money--their shrimp--oysters & fish are lightly breaded and very delicious---- I always get the senior shrimp or oyster plate and that is a lot of food for me--- and anyone can order from the senior menu--- even when there is a line outside you never have to wait over 10 or 15 mins.---and I aways see some of my friends there too.

One of the best kept secrets in Myrtle Beach. Shu, don't tell everybody. Some of the best seafood you will eat, at great prices. Go to Calabash and get the same food for many more dollars. Not great atmosphere, but good service and delicious food. Good service with small groups, large groups leave something to be desired. We eat here at least once a month.

We have visited Steven's on several occassions, usually with two young sons in tow. The food and service are very good. There is nothing pretentious about the place - white walls, checkered tablecloths- nothing fancy. But the quality seafood always brings us back.

Very good food at the budget pricing...If you like Calabash seafood, this place is a must. Try the onion rings...my wife and i both rank it the best we ever head. Oyster roast is also excellent. Now the negatives, atmosphere fits perfact MB "redneck" charm...and smoking gotta go. I see too many little kids seating next to a chain smoker seating next table.

Overall, if you don't mind the atmosphere and smoke, this gotta be the best seafood in town...

Went to Steven's the other night with friends who said they always go here when they are really hungry. Guess that's the reason they like it because they are so hungry they don't really care what they eat. The flounder was dry and rest of the meal was just adequate. Very disappointing. Prices were high, we thought, for the quality of the food. No atmosphere. To be fair we did not try the oysters. We all had seafood platters. The deviled crab was also very average, too much filling not enough crab. Definitely will not be going back. Too many other places in the area that are better.

If you like Roasted Oysters (or as some call them steamed) You will love this place. My wife and two little girls enjoyed the food. The steak my girls all shared was huge and tasted great with a real smokey flavor. The servers enjoyed watching my seven year old shuck Oysters for me (yes i had to pay her) Terrific service and nice people too! Very reasonable priced and beats these tourest joints altogether.

We have gotten in the habit of visiting Steven's everytime we are in the Cherry Grove area. They have outstanding Calabash style seafood. Best of all it beats the $20+ per head you will have to pay 15 miles up the road. If you like great seafood this is the place. It is just an old-fashioned "fish camp."

I have been visiting Steven" Oyster Roast for probably as long as 45 years. It's a 24 mile drive for us but we love their food and find the owner to be a very pleasant person. The service people have always been the best. Now that I am thinking about it I think we will visit them tonight. I usually get a seafood platter but my husband gets flounder. We share a large order of their delicious onion rings. I like it's homey atmosphere but I must admit it gets a little noisy sometime. Lots of customers!! Even if we have to wait for seating it's never very long.

We drive all the way down from Oak Island Southport area...we cant get good oysters around here...It is well worth the trip and the money. One day we went and low & behold they were out of oysters (only for about an hour) they had just come fresh off the truck :) they had to wash them. We did a little piddling around town & bought a scratch off ticket that won $20.00!!! By the time we returned we had great fresh medium (that's a little juicy) steamed delicious oysters. Well worth the wait!

Steven's is my favorite restaurant, hands down. I have a vacation house nearby and when I'm at the beach, I always eat at Steven's.

They have the best rib-eye steak in the area. It is wonderfully seasoned and very tender. My hubby usually gets the steak and shrimp combination. It comes with a salad, onion rings (the thin crispy kind - not frozen), baked potato, and texas toast.

If I am with women, we always split a plate because it is way too much food for one.

They have great sweet tea and will give you a pitcher for your table. The hush puppies are great, but don't come ahead of time unless you ask for them, and there is a charge. Ask for honey butter with them for an extra sweet taste.

If I'm on a diet, I get the boiled shrimp - you can get them cold or hot. The cocktail sauce is a little spicy for me so I always add a little ketchup.

We go so much that we are now "regulars" and get great service. If you're looking for atmosphere don't go here, but the food is great - give it a try!
