My wife and I first learned about Southside Grill from a friend about 5 years ago, we enjoy it everytime we go.The seafood is always fresh and delicious, the slaw is awesome and Mimi's desserts are smokin!.Rick and Mimi are always there and that is what makes a restaurant great, no one cares like the owners.Everyone should try to find the small family owned and operated places and support them, the most important thing to them is that you like enough to come back, time and time again.

We tried Pat's recommendation for dinner and have to say it was AWESOME! Southside Grill is located in a little strip mall on the ocean side of Highway 17 just before you reach Crabby Mike's if you are traveling south. If you're a Pittsburg fan - this is a place for you! Everything on the walls is either Penguins, Pirates or Steelers. The restaurant is small and intimate. It has a wonderful and friendly waitstaff - seems to be a family owned business. Their menu ranged from appetizers to seafood platter baskets, sandwiches and burgers. (The burgers say they are 3/4 lb!) Mom ordered the potato skin appetizers and I ordered the grilled steak salad. My Mom (80 years old) is a connoisseur of potato skins and she said these were the best she's ever had! Now that is saying something. They were obviously home made - baked potatoes with the insides scooped out and then filled with cheese, bacon and a side of sour cream. There were 4 on the plate and we ended up bringing two home. They were huge! My grilled steak salad was grilled to order (medium rare) and rested on an ample salad of fresh lettuce, cucumers, cherry tomatoes, and a couple of black olives with shredded cheeses. It was excellent. The steak used was ribeye and had a wonderful flavor. Our dinner tab which also included a diet soda and lemonade (with free refills) total $21 and some change. We are definitely going back! I try to support local businesses for our eating out ventures lately instead of the big chains. I can get Applebees, Outback, Carabbas, etc at home... I want the local flavor. I highly recommend you try it as well. We may go back tonight when my daughter arrives from Charleston SC to spend the weekend.

When i first walked into the "SouthSide Grill", i first noticed that it was Pittsburgh themed. The quality of the food was great, and the atmosphere was amazing. After the VERY short wait, my food appeared at my seat. I ordered the "Pittsburger", and i was in heaven. The fish here was great, and the burgers fanominal! Mimi's deserts were the best around. " A Bit Of The Burgh At The Beach" Fits this resturaunt well. I will eat here every time i am back in the Southside.

When I first entered this restaurant, I realized why I had moved away from pittsburgh in the first place. There was a steelers game on and it made the restaurant feel more like a cheap sports bar. I just wanted a double cheeseburger (hold the lettuce), and when it came to me an hour later there was lettuce on it! The burger itself was actually pretty good, I would have rather taken it to my house and eaten it than spend more time in a place that tries to be like Pittsburgh, the armpit of America.

While on vacation in surfside we read about Southside Grill in the weekly surge paper. We have been coming to surfside beach for years and never knew this place even existed, we are sure glad we found it. The operating hours are few (4:30 to 8ish) but the food is excellent. The crab cakes are the best, the hamburgers are so huge it's hard to even finish one, the fish is excellent, and the desserts are just awesome--if you have room after such a great meal. We had picked out several big name restaurants to try but after eating at southside we chose to dine there again before coming home. The folks are down home friendly, the food is the best, and the price is very reasonable. Definately a place to visit..

I called from Michigan to order a cheesecake for my son's birthday. He was vacationing in Myrtle Beach, and I read a review on line about the turtle cheesecake being, "to die for". Not only was my son impressed that we went to such lengths to get him a cake for his birthday, he said the cheesecake was the best he's ever had. The resort picked up the cake, and Mimi included candles, the resort staff sang to my son when he checked-in. My son asked for directions to the restaurant, since the cake was so good, he and his friends can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Best kept secret in Surfide. The burgers are, in my opinion, "Best on the Beach." The home made dessert is to die for (Mimi's peach pie is the best). Mimi and Rick are very friendly and we will certainly be back next time we're at the beach.

My wife and I eat there once a week. The seafood is without a doubt the best on the Grand Strand. Rick and Mimi go all out to provide the best in everything they serve.

Surfside's best kept secret. Family owned and operated, great fried seafood (oysters, shrimp, fish) Desserts are homemade and always fresh. Huge sandwiches. A Pittsburgh theme throughout.
