We are a family of ten. We all loved the buffet. The food was fresh. Plenty of crab. We all had the buffet. The three yr old ate more than the other kids. All under twelve. The mermaid was a sweet college girl. The kids loved her. She had conversations with each kid. She earned that basketfull of tips. ref: 28187

My wife and I always go to Seafare when at the beach. We vacation there every year. This year we took our whole family and I have to say I was very disapointed with Seafare. The buffett was half the size it was in the past, but the price did not go down. Very little to chose from and what was there was cold. I guess I will have to find another seafood buffet. ref: 23814

We chose this restaurant at the recommendation of the front desk at our resort. We were greeted by the hostess who wanted to know if we wanted the buffet or were we ordering from the menu immediatly upon entering. We went with the buffet and were seated after taking the scenic route to see the "mermaid". This was an employee sitting in the corner in costume with a shell for tips on the floor. We were seated and our waiter Tanner quickly came and took our drink order. He explained the buffet setup and brought our drinks while we got our food. The salad bar was fresh and very clean. The fried food, such as shrimp, clam strips, fish fillets, and chicken strips, was hot and fresh. The baked crab and mixed seafood dishes were dried out in the pans. The mac & cheese was hard and dark orange. The vegetables such as corn on the cob and green beans were dark and overcooked from being on the bar for too long. There were lots of choices of baked fish and shell fish. My husband had the steamed oysters. When he got the shells opened they were very small and dried up. We both stopped at the prime rib and kept walking. It was baked very well done. We both agree that the best things on the bar were all identified as specialties of the restaurant. The she crab soup was very hot and flavorful. The crab legs were fresh and plentiful. The dessert bar had lots of selections and I tried small portions of baklava, cherry cheese cake, a specialty dessert by the restaurant, and a chocolate sprinkle covered brownie ball . I took one bite of each dessert and did not like any of them. The black forrest cake that my husband had was much better. The dishes on the bar had good flavor but had been sitting for too long. Business picked up while we were eating so by the time we were leaving many things had been replinished and looked much more appealing. The best thing about our dinner was our server. He was attentive without being annoying. He met all of our needs and cleared our table and refreshed our drinks each time we were at the bar. After our meal we were glad that the buffet was $6 off during the month of October due to the quality of our meal. Not the worst place we've eaten but there are many other places to try before we return here. ref: 21080

this is by far the worst seafood buffet, if you want to call it that, i have ever ate at and i have ate at alot of buffets! the food was cold the crab legs were like rubber! the manager did give us our money back, and i will say that he made me some fresh stuffed mushrooms that were good.maybe if you order off the menu it might be better? ref: 21079

I asked the concierge at my hotel what the best seafood buffet was. She suggested this place But she must have been getting some comps from them or something. This was the worst seafood buffet I have eaten at in Myrtle Beach. The food just tasted old or processed. Everything was chewy or rubbery tasting. I do not recommend this place at all. ref: 20720

i use to eat at seafare's all the time, but the last 4 or so years, the place is just nasty. the quality of the food has completely went south. only eat at captain george's now very clean place, for a buffet. ref: 20513

In a word...gross. We have a vacation home in MB so we have eaten at many of the buffets over the years. This was by far the worst dining experience we have had as far as food quality goes. The crab legs looked sad and poor quality and we left empty most of the time, which was fine, they tasted so bad and were so dried out we didn't even eat the ones we did get. The rest of the food was cold and lacked any flavor short of grease. The table next to us, ate half a plate and got up and left too. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible food. ref: 20250

This was the worst restaurant and very expensive. The food was all cold and THE PRIME RIB is just roast beef. My son-in-law is a chef and when we asked to speak to the manager about the prime rib he tried to pass it off as overcooked. After we complained to the manager he did make us a piece of real prime rib. All the other patrons thanked us for saying something. So if you want real prime rib, you have to complain to the management. Does South Carolina have a Truth in Menu Law? Ohio does!!! ref: 16985

We just got back from a wonderful vacation. We have been coming to Seafare for 10 years. It is nice to count on a great meal here and this year they did not disappoint. The crab legs were very, very good along with everything else. We will be back next year. ref: 16836

The food was bland and made us feel bad afterwards and we ate a variety. The cost is outrageous at $26 each for locals and tourists. Other buffets in the area don't cost as much and their food is much better. The service was poor- we had to ask for steak knives that were about to fall apart, our silverware was dirty and had to ask for clean ones . All the serving utensils were not in place and they had just opened for the day. The place was too dimly lit. It did not live up to it's advertisements. We will not return!!!! ref: 14695

For the money me and my family spent at this place was astonishingly over priced. We walked in to the restaurant and a pungent smell of fish wafts through my nose. Then a "mermaid" that was sitting in a pool was waving at us just increases the cheesiness of atmosphere. We walk up to the counter we are forced to decide what drink we wanted or even if we wanted any drink right then and there. Any normal restaurant would let you be seated before you had to decide anything. The enthusiasm in the staff is just over whelming in the fact they all look like they are all gong to fall over from boredom. Before we are seated there is a brief description of where to find everything but not shown. Then we are seated and were left to fend for your selves. The buffet was unfavorable in that you had to grab a cold plastic plate from a wall of plates that look like they could fall over at any second then you go down the buffet looking at food that looks like it had been sitting there for hours. When eating the seafood on the buffet everything tasted like old fish so after eating it felt like you were going to get food poisoning. Also the crab on the buffet was so cold you would of though that it had just come out of a refrigerator. The cold bar I was afraid to even try because of how I felt after eating the cooked food. The dessert bar tasted like prepackaged extremely processed. I wonder if any thing was actually made by any cook instead of heated in a microwave. While eating to add to the horrible atmosphere it was interesting to watch the pirate dressed waiters and waitress clump in groups and talk to each other. after all of that horrible food service atmosphere we were expected to give the waitress a 20 dollar tip which noone in there right full mind would of done because our waitress did nothing except bring us drinks and serve us our bill. My husband and I ate here, on our first trip to MB, in 2005. Service was fine, but the price was a little to much for the quality of food on the buffet. Most of the fried food was hard, and tasteless, and the in the shell food, had no flavor what so ever. No seasoning, just a minute amount of salt.
And what about hush puppies? I didn't see any and when I saw what I thought was a hush puppy, was actually a fried and battered hot dog.
We were very disappointed, and will not return.

My husband, daughter and I went to Seafare for dinner on June 30, 2008 and it was 81 dollars for the 3 of us to eat dinner there. We walked in and had to pay before we were seated. Most everything on the buffet was crabmeat based and you are automatically charged for crablegs whether you eat them or not. The main thing that griped us was that after we had paid 81 dollars for 3 buffets (we had water to drink) - at the bottom of our receipt were 3 suggested tips for us to leave (the lowest one being 11.72) - first of all - we waited on ourselves, secondly- our "waitress" never came over to ask us if we needed anything and she never checked to see if we needed more water, we had to hunt her down to get some steak sauce and it took her 15 minutes to bring it to us. I guess what people are paying for is the so called show when you first walk in - which is just a girl in a mermaid suit that says Hi, Welcome to Seafare! We will never go there again! ref: 11761

We visited MB in Sept of '07. (I was unaware of this site until today, just looking around for info for a friend, and wanted to leave our comments regarding this restaurant.) IT IS AWESOME!!!!! We're taking vacation to another spot this year instead of MB, and I have to say, I'm REALLY going to miss our trip(s) to the Seafare! We went because on a previous vaca to MB, 2 yrs ago, we visited the Seafare in the Inlet. Our 7 yr old daughter remembered the mermaid from that location, and wanted to go back to the restaurant w/the mermaid. When we went to the Inlet, saw that location was closed, so went back to the location on Hwy 17. Just as AWESOME as the Inlet was! She LOVED the mermaid once again!!!! (She not only got a star bead necklace, the mermaid taught her HOW to make them! =) It is pricey--but you expect to pay that going to an ALL YOU CAN EAT seafood buffet. And they don't charge you extra for the all you can eat crab legs, as some places do! The legs were good, always hot, not rubbery or soggy. ALL the food was good and a GREAT selection of items! I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. We liked it so much, we spent our last night dining out there--which was our second trip to the restaurant! AND--we were vacationing w/my parents who we took along for that visit--they were as equally impressed! Hope they'll still be there next year--we WILL be back! ref: 11614

The food was good, not outstanding, and there wasn't near the selection advertised in their brochure. In fact, none of the items listed in their brochure, that made my mind up to go here, were on the buffet. The crab legs were very good, but the prime rib was tough and dry. It would have been okay if it had cost much less. For the money, we could have enjoyed a fine dining restaurant.
The receipt suggests 15% - 20% tips, for what? We should leave $25 for someone to bring sodas to us (3 adults and 2 kids) at a buffet? ref: 11599

This place has the best crab legs in the area, not Crabby Mikes!

I have eaten at Seafare many times over the past 20 years. The food is great and the price is about average. Stay away from the raw oysters though. I went to Seafare this weekend, 4/26/07, and have just gotten back from the doctor with food poisoning. Their oysters are contaminated. I have gotten sick from them 3 times in the past. This is the worst time since I am out of work for 3 days with a fever and other unpleasant things. At the risk of being redundant, although their oysters taste as good as I have ever eaten, DO NOT EAT THE RAW OYSTERS!!! ref: 10806

We vacation to mytrle beach every year, we went down this july of last year, the food were good, but the price needs to come down a little bit,we had 15 kids, and we had to pay for kids 6-9 yrs old 13.00 dollars, wwe were upset about that, please come down on the price, adults is 25.00 thats not including tips. But overall we will be back in feb 14,08, and our favorite place will be to eat at the seafare, the crab legs are excellent, except for one time, they were kind of poor only once, and the music is my thing especially beach music. Its a great place to eat. I'll tell anyone to go eat there and enjoy their self. It's a lovely place to dine out.. ref: 9824

Our Family went to this Restaurant on July 13, 2007 arriving at approx 4:30 pm. We were seated promptly and were assigned a SUPER Waitress. The selections were Outstanding!...If you LOVE Seafood and don't mind paying a fair price for it, then you must consider Seafare. The Buffet had a very large selection of various prepared seafood. I enjoyed it all. I did not try the foods other than Seafood, but they looked very good. DON'T Forget to find a coupon in the local magazines as it will save you some money! The two adults and one child in our family enjoyed the seafood buffet tremendously. The food was excellent but it is very pricey, especially if you take a child who does not eat much. Both females in the group preferred Crabby Mikes, a similar seafood buffet, but I thought the food was slightly better at Seafare with the exception of the crab legs in which I preferred Mikes. Our daughter enjoyed the mermaid who gave her a set of beads - a great keepsake for a child like ours. The lay out of the buffet was good and the wait was minimal for 6:15 p.m. on a holiday evening - about 15 minutes from the door to a table. All in all, a very enjoyable experience except for the price. ref: 8056

The food was was good, but not for price. It was extremely expensive. There is no way that food cost near what we were charged and to think children will eat $13.00 worth of food is really extreme. They should eat free for what adults have to pay. And for the restaurant to have the right to suggest what to leave for a tip is obscure when the waiter only brings you a drink...in our case a glass of water. The price is extremely too HIGH for children. You have lost your mind if you think a 7 year old will eat $13.00 worth of food of any kind! It is steep enought for adults to pay the higher price but children under 12 should be absolutely FREE I tell you! That is rediculous. Then you serve a "child's bar" with hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza and chicken nuggets with fries - PLEASE !!!!! We stay for a week once a year and the tradition is that we go to Seafare while vacationing - well not any longer - for 2 adults and one child of 7 years we paid $74.00 last week! We visited this location on July 15, 2007. It is actually located in Sunset Beach on Highway 17. The Previous Seafare was located in Murrels Inlet, but not this one!.....It runs about $26. per person to eat, but if you search through local coupon books you can find a $4.00 per person discount which will take care of the 7 Percent ( Directed to Tourists) sales tax. We had the Very BEST Waitress named Jesse. She made all things possible and should actually be working in a Five Star Restaurant. We enjoyed most of the food and all were very fresh. I really don't know what you want in a Buffet, but they had it!....We will return and We felt like you got your monies worth which is what Tourists like us are looking for! My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Seafare Resturant in Murrells Inlet. Our guests were overwhelmed at all of the delicious foods and the great selection. We were greeted as VIP's and the service was OUTSTANDING. We returned for our 1st year anniversary and they had closed so we went to their new location and it was wonderful. We plan to go back there every year. The crab legs were out of this world...It is well worth every penny.. Don't let the price fool you. The quality of food and the atmosphere and the people are well worth the trip. I just wish they would send out coupons for special people who love them as much as we do. ref: 4842

My family visited Myrtle Beach in July. We enjoyed the Seafare. I felt they had the largest selection of items on their buffet. They had great crab legs and I love their she-crab soup. My husband and I payed $25 dollars a head for what we thought would be a decent amount of seafood wrong! No crablegs, no regular sized shrimp and no chicken for landlovers! I was very displeased! After we politely complained to managment we were told the $25 charge was not just for the food but was also for the under age mermaids floating in the disgusting fake aquarium! I will admit the outside drawed us in, it looks nice and inviting. But the Seafare will be a place that I will not return to, I would rather patronize the Waffle House. ref: 2257

Best seafood in town and with a great atmosphere! The buffet has raw, steamed, baked, and fried seafoods and yet has room for pastas, soups, salads, prime rib, and children's food. If the food isn't enough, the mermaids and live music are icing on the cake! A must stop for great food. ref: 2252

Generally seafood buffets are all the same with not a lot of flavor to many items. The Seafare is the exception!! My whole family loves it and if we are in Myrtle Beach for 3 nights, I assure you we are at the Seafare at least 2 of the 3 nights. ref: 1597

After seeing that the Seafare in Murrells Inlet is closed, and relocated to the "remodeled" location near 17 just south of 544, we decided to stop in for dinner. Bear in mind that our last meal there a year ago was not up to par, but for some reason still unknown to us, we felt a bit adventurous ;). The crab legs were good, but not excellent (as they were at another place down the road), and everything else seemed reasonably good. Dinner for two was $45 and change (using the coupon). Noise was somewhat high as the parents of a shrieking baby nearby literally encouraged the infant to continue this (mis)behavior.... go figure. Overall, not bad by any means, and definitely worth a return visit the next time we come to Myrtle Beach. ref: 1478

The food is an outstanding value. The buffet has everything anyone could want. We took 6 kids and 6 adults and everyone left fat and happy. What a great value. We will be back every year! ref: 1086

We have been vacationing at Myrtle Beach for over 15 years and this is my familys favorite buffet. The crab legs are great and the buffet is very good. If you find coupons this is also a very inexpensive place for a family to dine. I would highly reccoment this restaurant for young children as well. They can scream and yell and no one can hear a thing.
