Went to Sea Merchants on Valentines day without a reservation and they still got us in quickly and the service and food was great. !!! Prime rib was one of the best I have had in the 9 years I have lived here. Highly reccomend them.

I read in a Review not to let the outside of the building influence the choice of dining in, so I didn't. We entered to be taken into a darkened room, ( I suppose it was meant to add atmosphere) but it was really too dark to read the menu. I looked up and noticed that most of the bulbs were burnt out. (So bring a flashlight to read the menu) The menu was simple, not a tremendous variety of choices. There were 3 of us and we all ordered all something different. I ordered the ribeye, my wife ordered a seafood platter with shrimp, oysters, flounder and scallops. My mother ordred just the fried oysters. Two of us had green beans and red skinned potatoes, and one had fries. The steak was tasteless and I learned that no seasoning was used. If you ordered steak, then you got steak. The oysters were not crisp. Again no seasoning to speak. The shrimp was okay and the flounder had no seasoning. The green beans were too oily. The red skinned potatoes were the best vegetable, but had little seasoning. This restaurant was recommended by a local. Believe me, I am not a complainer but in my opinion, this was the worst food I have eaten in North Myrtle Beach. I felt like I wasted my money. All of us left over half of what was on the plates. The best part of our experience was heading out of the darkness and stepping into the light

Don't judge a book by its cover. The exterior is horrific but the food is excellent. If you ever stop by ask for Joey he was our waiter and is one of the best in the business.

The waiters at Sea Merchants could not have been more accommodating and helpful when we were dining with our toddler twins! Great food, unbelievable service, and easy location.

Really shocked to find they don't have a way for a person in a wheelchair to get into their restaurant. Isn't that mandatory these days. Guess they don't need the business.

My family enjoys Sea Merchants almost every time we're in NMB. You can't go wrong with any steak and my teenager loves the she-crab soup and the fried flounder. It's cozy in the winter also with the fire. I would definitely recommend Sea Merchants.

What started as a promising meal ended as one of the worst meals we have ever eaten in a restaurant. The Scallops Pauline, as an appetizer was quite good, as was the She Crab Soup. The salads were of a good size, chilled and accompanied by good dressing. Our server Edward did a nice job of serving our entire meal. Having chosen the Tuna special of the evening, I made the assumption that the tuna would be fresh. Should have asked. The tuna arrived luke warm and obviously previously frozen. The dry tuna could not be redeemed by the wasabi cucumber sauce. The Grouper Parmesan, which has been lauded in previous reviews, was little more than edible. While the fish itself was ok, it was impossible to cut the parmesan crust with a knife. Broiled Parmesan crust which acquired a texture akin to cement, separated from the fish in one big piece and remained on the plate, never to be eaten. It is noted that we were one of the first customers in this restaurant when it opened at 5pm. The accompanying green beans, served with each meal, displayed varied green hues, obviously having been cooked at different intervals. Overcooked green beans combined with green beans as they should be cooked. I continue to wonder how such is possible when the beans should have been the first batch served for the evening. Likewise, the serving of rice pilaf contained a rather large hunk of obvious stuck to the bottom rice. Again....at 5pm?? With the variety of restaurants in this area from which to choose, this will be one which we will definitely neither opt to return nor recommend to others.

Great restaurant, service and atmosphere. Our party ordered a variety of meals and they all were great. There were 6 of us and their policy is to automatically add a 'gratuity' of 17%. That is NOT a gratuity! I really hate it when a resraurant does that, and, therefore, I will not be back!

I have been vacationing in Myrtle Beach for 15 years. I enjoy going to local restaurants and not going to everyday, every city chain restaurants. I totally found this by chance and absolutely LOVED it. The food was great and the portions were extremely generous. Some of our party had the prime rib and it topped any restaurant we ate at anywhere. Others had seafood entries which were excellent. I have nothing but good to say about it. You don't have to deal with the vacationing atmosphere here at all which makes it most enjoyable and allows you to savor all the wonderful tastes. Everything was PERFECT.

My husband and I have been coming to Sea Merchants for the last 5 years. We found this restaurant by chance just riding around looking for a restaurant that wasn't the normal buffet. We get the salmon just about everytime but have tried some of the other delicious food. We have not had anything that was not great!!!

Party of 14 and everyone's meal was outstanding. Our waitress was Erin and she did an exceptional job, but I did notice that the others helped out each other out with their duties. One small item though , I had asked for "Pittsburgh style" ( charred on the outside and rare in the middle) Filet and it came out just seared, therefore it had to go back under the broiler. Most had the grouper or Prime rib and early reports were great. The Key lime pie wasn't the best as it had 3/4 of cream and 1/4 of Key Lime on the bottom.
