Sara J's has a new chef and the food is excellent! Had the fried shrimp, it was local, lightly breaded and cooked perfectly!

If I was granted my last meal, it certainly wouldn't come from Sara J's! The grilled grouper was not seasoned properly, chewy, and tasteless! Vegetables tasted frozen and were mushy. The waitress took offense to our remarks about our meals. The manager did come to our table and reduced our checks by half...but left hungry and disappointed!

Food was not worth the price. Salad wasn't very good. Fish was dried out and fries were over cooked. Will never go back and waste our money!!!

My husband and myself with a close friend tried Sara J's for the first time this past Friday night. It is a very cute looking restaurant with an excellent view of the marsh. We were excited. We did not have to wait very long for a table at all. We tried calamari and oysters. Both good but not great. Noise level is very loud, not fun to try and visit with your table partners. We had shrimp and grits, mahimahi, and just some fresh boiled shrimp. The shrimp was already peeled and very small. It had a very distinct iodine taste. The shrimp in the shrimp and grits my husband said was the same. Not fresh. We had asked the server what was fresh. He seemed a little confused and said do we mean today fresh. He named a fish but then said everything is fresh eventhough it wasn't caught today. Myrtle Beach is really known for its shrimp and its caught every day. Very disappointed in service and freshness. With so many restaurants to choose from we will not be back.

Love love LOVE Sara J's!!! I've been coming here for about 13 years now and I can't have a trip without it! One thing people complain about a lot is the wait... It can be a bit long but there are plenty of things to do until your name is called. You can get a drink at the bar, take a walk on the marsh outside, visit the gift shop, or play games out front. There is always plenty of seating in the waiting area, and trust me it's worth it! My favorite thing about Sara J's is their drinks. Both the PiƱa Colada & the Kahlua Frost are good, but the Midori Colada is to die for!!! The food is always so good, and we love sitting on the porch that overlooks the marsh. Definately try Sara J's next time you're in the Myrtle Beach area, & we'll see ya in June!

My husband and I have eaten here many times and recommend it to all our friends. Never had a bad meal. We usually order a house salad because we are not slaw lovers-- there is an additional charge for this. The seafood is always fresh, well prepared, and served by attentive servers. We come to Myrtle Beach several months a year and Sara J's is always at the top of our list to revisit.

We went to Sara J's this evening 9/20/12. The restaurant was extremely busy, but, even with that , wait time was less than 30 minutes. We were greeted with a smiling face from our server Krissie, what a nice greeting. 7 people in our party and she was extremely experienced, knew what she was doing, did it fast and always with a smile !! Very rare to see these days. Food was very good and the wait was not long at all ! First visit for us and will be sure to come back next time to Sara J's!

Although this restaurant has a great veiw (we sat on the deck) and o.k. food (exept for the yummy hush-puppies),I feel that it is overpriced and wouldn't reccommend it.

I can't imagine anyone not falling in love with Sara J's! Also this is one of the most beautiful restaurants Ive ever seen. The bad reviews have got to be people trying to make this place look bad! I've had most everything on the menu and nobody can even get close to the great food and service this place has! You have got to try the fried fish, deviled crab and shrimp! Even broiled the food is out of this world! I've taken people with me over 20 times and nobody has ever had a complaint. ive been told several times that the wait will be 45 minutes (which would be well worth the wait) but the l've never waited longer than about 15 minutes. try this place and you will not be disappointed! This place is very busy which makes it noisy at times so if I had to find anything wrong with Sara J's its that there are too many people wanting to eat there, the fact that they are a lot of local residents speaks volumes about its quality of food and service!

I read some of these reviews and was a little nervous when my family said they wanted to come here. However, the experience was awesome! We wanted to sit inside so we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated but we spent them in the bar and the wait seemed like nothing. We were served right away and our server (Chrissy) was very friendly. I had the rib eye steak (very good), two members of my party had the mahi mahi (very good), another member had the special of the night which was a 7 oz steak and shrimp (excellent), and my mom had the chicken parm (pretty good). I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Myrtle Beach.

After I read a few reviews I was nervous about how dinner would go tonight. It's Friday so the wait to sit inside was 30 mins; we opted to sit outside and were sat immediately. I would sit outside again if we go back...nice breeze and pretty views. The food was very tasty and our server was friendly. I definitely recommend this place!

Girls week at the beach and Sara J's was recommended by an acquaintance. It took over one hour to be seated for 6 and the noise level was unbearable. Approximately 10 kids ranging from 10-13 years of age were seated 2 tables from us as we sat outside and their parents were seated inside with no supervision. The kids were loud, obnoxious and turned over several chairs. We complained to the waitress but she said they were just kids. The food was gross. I ordered the sirloin steak/shrimp and it was touch and overdone and no thicker than a mcdonalds hamburger. The shrimp was frozen and probably bought from walmart. I did send it back. Don't spend your time or money here.

I vacation and work along the South Carlina coast so I eat at many Restaurants. Sara J's is by far the best when it comes to "THE BEST FOOD". Everything about this place is perfection, They have by far the best flounder I have ever tasted but that's just the start. I've dined at Sara J's many time and it is by far the beast food in South Carolina as far as I'm concerned. Outstanding wait staff makes it a pleasure to just be at Sara J's. Their food is outstanding no matter what you order, fish, shrimp, steaks but if you like deviled crab you are in for a treat of a lifetime. This is one of the most beautiful restaurants as well overlooking the inlet at Garden City and only a couple of blocks from the Garden City Pier. You will not be disappointed choosing Sara J's: The combination Platter is $17.95 and can actually feed 2 people or they have the seniors version (SMALLER PORTIONS) for $14.95.
