It is what it is baby! Sams corner is an amazing place to grab some greasy food. I ate there today for the first time in 10 years, and the patty melt was still as delicious as it was 20 years ago.

Guys its at the beach so deal with the price. We have been going there since 1985. I agree the service has gone way down over the years. We still go cause we are hooked on the location(Garden City Corner) and the foot long all the way. I admit its not the best hot dog but its good times. When you go forget about the employees being rude or pretend you are at Dicks. We always meet some fun people there (not working there). My biggest issue is SPEAK ENGLISH Pablo. In 1985 to about 5 years ago they were friendly the same reg folks year after year and the helpers could speak english. Now the front is rude and the helpers cant speak english. I think sam needs to spend more time there or we may even be forced to stop going and we are die hard fans.RIP SAMS CORNER

The first time I went to Sam's some years ago, I told the waiter I wanted two foot longs with everything. He replied "Son, I'm gonna start you off with two footlongs with cheese, chili, onion, and cole slaw. And if you survive that, you are free to continue on your gastro-intestinal adventure!" I've been hooked ever since.

This restaurant is amazing! i went to Garden City Beach a few years ago and loved it. I wanted to go back and couldn't wait to eat there again. Now I can't wait until I go back again, they are like family to me. My waiters name was Greg ( I think), and Greg, you were great!

If it was not for the location this place would not be in business. I go to Garden City about twice a year. Since the service has gotten so bad I cut way back on my visits to SC. I used to eat several meals there over a weekend. I only went in there this last time because I was very hungry heading out of town and I was prepared for it. Rude, loud, abrupt, unfriendly. I worked at a fast food type places and you can find better people to work there than the group currently working in the day time on weekends. You can relate to people much better than they do. If you dont like it go work at another joint or get out of customer service. I witnessed them being rude to a group of 4 women. The women just took it. Too much.

I absolutely love Sam's! I always make it a point to visit. After many years of vacationing in the Garden City area, I still haven't tried everything on the menu. But, the hotdogs, corndogs, and burgers are great. My favorites are the Jalapeno Cheddar Burger, the Pimento Cheeseburger, and the Ocean Burger. Even better to me is the atmosphere. It's just cool!

Hey, I liked the place. I'd been seeing it for years and never had a chance to go, so I decided to this past weekend. It's not great, but for what it is, it's a nice little spot. The service was adequate and the prices aren't as awful as some here like to whine about ($5.25 for a crabcake sandwich isn't bad, neither is $5 for a White Russian). Sure, it's a little overpriced and I could see things getting hectic in there on a busier day, but it's a cool place for a quick, filling lunch and a few cold beers that isn't going to set you back like some places on the Strand will.

Sam, sam, you know where I am. Hey, if you want $200 meals go to the strand, if you want a great foot long (which by the way they call it the homewrecker) and a cold beer to help with a hangover..... Well baby it the place to go. It is great to know, they may tear down the pavalion and amusement park, they may build new crap that cost $100 to ride, but it is nice to know that coffee is still a nickel and you can step back into time long since gone y. Grab a beer and sit out front and watch time slowly creep by... Love you sams.......

ALL you people who are writting bad things about Sam's dont really understand how hard it is to RUN a restaurant. So maybe before you starting sayin shitty things think about it. The service can be slow yes, but only if you are there at there around the turoist season which most of you are. So think before you judge. By the way i am Sam's Daughter :)

What can you say about sams. It is what it is. Buy a footlong with sour kraut and a frosted mug of beer. You don't go eat there and expect great service or excelent food.its a staple. 75 years of 5 cent coffee and greasy hangover helper. Sit outside on the cast iron benches and watch the time go by as well as many zany beachgoers. I love sams. You find the true people of the beach in this cozy, smelly dive. Hang on sams im coming........

I visited Garden City for 5 years now and had never tried Sams corner, my husband and I had heard so much about it we thought we would try it. Big mistake we walked in and were just looking around the place we were met with a menu shoved into our hands and the guy just shook his head like we were idoits and didn't know how to order. We will stay in Garden City again Sam's Corner is the worst. Sorry Mary Alice Monroe.

I have lived in garden city my entire life and I grew up on eating at Sams when my family would spend all day Saturday at the beach! However Sams is not the same any longer. The food is nasty! The very last time I ate at Sams a cockroach fell on my burger while it was cooking on the grill and the cook simplyt tried to kill it with the spatchula then he turned around to see if anyone had watched what had happened. I was shocked he was going to still give me that patty. I got my money back and left. I believe that paying almost 5 dollars for a nasty hamburger is rediculous however I have found a much better bargain with way better door. Right across the street inside painters homemade icecream is a place called the burger shak and it is the best burger I have found! The make the paytys fresh every morning and cook to order in a much more relaxing atmosphere and with more customer service than Sams does! So next time you are down in garden city stop between may and labor day in the burger shak and get a combo!

Sorry but I sat there the other day while my kids and wife went next door to play some arcade games. While there I observed the cook treating customers rudely! I wasn't the only one that noticed it. I also was disappointed to see the food prep area ....with all the toppings like lettuce and such just sitting there in the heat.... I have been in the business a while....if its not being used close the darn lid. Keeps the flies and bugs off as well as keeping it cool and fresh. All that being said....just an okay hotdog..

I have been going to Garden City since I was 1 year old. As soon as I could eat whole food, I have loved Sam's corner. Everyone misses Mark, but Sam's will always be a staple in my diet while in Garden City. I have recently introduced a few friends to Sam's and they found love for a late night fried footlong as well. I love the whole area, and Sam's will always be on my favorites list.

Sam's corner is the best part of each trip we make to MB. And sitting on our little deck in Salem Virgina we long for the feeling being there together gives. Is it the food, the music, the atmosphere or the characters you see go by in the little golf carts? Well it's all of that and so much more! It's falling in love, a red bench and 5 cent coffee. Thanks Sam's for all you've given us and when we need you it's nice knowing somethings never change - priceless!

Somebody told me to eat there because it was great with a great atmosphere with heavenly hotdogs. We drove a special trip from alabama to eat at this hell hole. We could have vacationed at Daytona. The food tasted like shit. I've had better weiners on the street. Eat at the restraunt in the arcade next door. It is much better but still shitty. One of the workers cursed me but I can't be sure. Me and my family have been going to Garden City for vacations now for a few years now. The first time we were there we decided to stop at Sams for a quick bite for lunch and it was so yummy! We made another lunch run the next day for everyone in the house. I think I ate about 5 chili dogs that week. The following year, the first night we were down there we went there for dinner. We sat outside, drank beer and ate hot dogs and fries. Later that week we stopped in on our way home from the bars at Broadway on the Beach. Needless to say they were the only place open at 2:30-3:00 in the morning and you can get a beer with your late night snack. We were unable to go to SC last year but we are going back this year. I can't wait to eat another yummy chili dog this summer at Sams!

Sam's is money. The only possible way you could have a bad time at Sam's is if you are a pretentious pain in the butt. A great, and sometimes standing-room-only, 24-hour diner with ice cold American drafts for less $2. Locals, tourists, bikers, yuppies... it doesn't matter. Stick with the cheeseburgers and you won't be disappointed. Some of the best onion rings you'll ever get your hands on.

We are a group of golfers from Kansas City who have been going to Sam's Corner for about 15 years. We eat breakfast, dinner, late night and even have a middle of the night brew or snack from time to time. Their attention to us has been impeccable over the years. We keep coming back because they still give you that hometown feel, rib you good naturedly and feed you that homecooked fried bologna sandwich.

Sam's Corner (Garden City) is a true "icon"; I've visited since they first opened and I'll continue going from time-to-time as long as they operate and I'm around to go. It's not cheap, it's not spiffy ... it's not a lot of things. But what it IS is what makes it so special. The music's great, the 'view' is usually outstanding (sometimes spectacular!), the food fills you up, the beer is COLD, nobody cares what you look like or have on (and if you keep it under a roar) have to say. It's a cross between "Peaches Corner" or "Sloppy Joe's" circa 1960; just located in Garden City instead of 9th Ave. N. and Ocean Blvd. in Myrtle Beach. The "Baker-Boys" are ggod guys, great hosts. You owe it to yourself to go for the experience; you'll probably go back (unless you're pretty stuffy and way-over-the-hill). It's a 'real-deal' beach-place, about as far as you can get from a chain.Don't take granny after midnight.

I have not been to Sam's corner for a few years, but wow what good times back in the summers of 2000-2001. So sad the hear that Mark is no longer there!?!? I remember seeing him there what seemed like 24 hours a day. When we asked him if he ever got any sleep...he said "I'll sleep when I die."' What a cool place...sitting outside, sipping cold brews watching all the cars come back from a night on the "strip" and meeting people. A couple nights we saw lights beyond the pier and realized it was the sun coming up! Oops! time to get back to the beach house. Good food that is probably not good for you, a laid back atmosphere and a little bit of everything on the menu. Its a really cool place if you understand and love the whole summertime vibe. Long live summer nights at Sam's!

The customer service was terrible. The abnoxious guy behind the counter would not take my order because I was at the end of the counter and not under the sign that says "ORDER HERE". So therefore he ignored me. I was simply ordering a coffee to go. Last year, I got my coffee to go every morning for 2 straight months with no problem. The people last year were great. This year I will not be back until they get rid of that employee.

I have only one question..."What ever happened to Sam or Tim?" Has Jody left Sam and he doesn't give a hoot about his restaurant anymore?? Or..has he sold it? God only knows...at least the beer is still cold, if you can get service..someone should open up across the street..maybe that would help!

For a beach atmosphere this place is just fine. The food is mediocre at best and so is the service. We went back twice because we like to see these kind of places but finally gave up. It's just overpriced fried food fare. The food overtook the "ambience" part, so we stopped going there...........I know this is not a good review but check it out for yourself. We could live with a decent price or friendly service but neither of these seemed to work out.

I am only 20 yrs. old but I remember loading up my parents car and going to Garden City every year. We stayed at the Barnacle which was right beside the Arcade and Sam's Corner. We always went to Sam's and I was never disappointed in the service or the food......and of course Mark. He always had a joke to tell or some funny comment to make. Just last year my father-in-law purchased a place at Garden City, I had told my wife time and time again that we were going to Sam's one day and we did only to see that Mark was gone. Other than that Sam's holds alot of childhood memories for me......in fact I am turning 21 on Sept. 20 and my wife and I are going to Garden City for the weekend. I am surely going to go to Sam's for my first legal beer and hotdog!!!!!!(just another memory provided by Sam's Corner)

My first trip to Sam's Corner came 15 years ago after my freshman year of college. Man, just thinking about about a good ole' corn dog, fries, cold beer and some of those fine lookin' young women at the arcade next door gets me a reminiscing...Well, I just returned from a college reunion trip down to Garden City, and let me tell you, nothin's changed. Granted, Mark is not there and the way they take orders is all screwy, but you can still get a some good grub for a good price, and, as far as the women go...if there's grass in the infield, play ball! I'd recommend anything they have on the menu, except for the pork brains, which are for losers, along with an alcoholic beverage of your choice. They have a wide selection to choose from. Pound for pound, it's the best eatin' anywhere in Garden City!

I recently returned from a weeks vacation in Garden City which included several late night/early morning trips for food and fun at Sam's Corner. I was sad to hear that Mark was no longer there. I ate my first of many "Mark Dogs" in 1992, and I am proud to say that the peanut buttery treat has made its way to my home in Long Beach, NY. Mark may no longer be at Sam's Corner, but his recipes live on!!!

The place was definitely not the same without him but the place still employs an interesting bunch. My favorite was Johnnie. She was extremely friendly and introduced my friend Chiz and me to a new treat...brains and eggs (hold the eggs). Our nightly can of pork brains will not soon be forgotten. I can't wait for next year's trip.

We like the ambiance of the area and have tried Sam's about 4 times. I really want to like this place but I have given up. It's overpriced for a hot dog place and fried onion rings can be had anywhere. Check it out if you must but outside of the beach atmosphere, there are many better places to go. With the bored counter people to go with it, I really don't need an overpriced hot dog.

My husband and I honeymooned in the Myrtle Beach area and of all the places we went to eat that week and half, Sam's Corner was by far the worst. The customer service was awful, the prices were outrageous (come on, $4.50 for a ham and cheese sandwich???) and the food wasn't anything special. We were really turned off.

This review is based on 6 experiences. I am not one to complain, but lately the last 5-6 times I have visited Sam's I have been completely unhappy. After I realized there was an online area to comment, I felt the need to share my experiences. High prices vs. quantity of food delivered is inadequate, poor (extremely poor) customer service (most likely due to understaffing), and the place is nasty. Trash full (overflowing), only 1-2 even speak english behind the counter...One day I waited 40 minutes for my order after asking 4 times what the deal was, they have spiraled out of control. They simply no longer care who the customer is....Try if you have time and money to spare, happy vacation!

The poor customer service, lack of cleanliness in seating area, and prices have made this one restaurant we no longer visit! I live in Surfside Beach, full time. My husband and I call the the "tourist trap" restaurant. I decided, after saying the last two times "never again," to give them one last try to see if things had improved....1 adult, 3 kids, and no alcoholic beverages $44!!! Have mercy. We stood in line at least 15 min to order, no smiles, everyone there seems so overwhelmed and unhappy and don't even think about trying to get salad dressing, refill or sauce for your chicken fingers unless you get it right when you order comes out! - very hard to get their attention the 2nd time around....trust me, don't waste your money. "If" I ever do go there again and things have improved, I promise to let you all know. Don't hold your breath!

I've been going to Sam's for over 20 years, and I have been disappointed the past few times. First, it's not the same without Mark. Second, it feels less welcoming than it used to and more like just another place at the beach wanting to quickly shuffle customers in and out. I would have given four stars several years ago. I can't, in good conscience, give even a full star based on my last 8 or 10 experiences there.

What a shame for so many Carolinians who have seen the beach become a mere tourist destination for transients from all over the country have to watch another favorite location fall into the same decline.

We found this place on our way to the beach. It was really good food but NO free refills on very small sodas for the price. A bottle of water was almost $2! But the hotdogs were fried which we had never had before. There is no A/C inside and on hot days can feel like an oven! We sat outside and you could hear the waves crashing. But it is on a very busy street so the noise of the cars can drown out the waves. Over all it is an OK place but worth going if your into dives!

I have been going to Sam's Corner for 22 years but, if they do not go back to their old way of taking orders, I'll never go back again.

I usually go to Sam's every day I'm at the beach but, last weeks experience still has me saddened because the atmosphere is what makes the place and they have ruined that.

You now have to stand in a long line and prepay before you can order. That is unacceptable. The comradery between guests and patrons is what makes the place. It is now gone.

We went in for a lunch and all I can say is if we had done our usual: ordering food and several adult beverages, it would have been a farce.

Please go back to your old ways. Please stop this nonsense. I'd give the place 0 stars after my last visit. Zero!

I've been going to Myrtle Beach (Garden City) since 1957, and although Sam's has only been there about 30 plus years, it seems like it's been forever. The food is great, the atmophere is great, the variety is super, the seating is very ample, the HOTDOG is exceptional, as always, and I would recommend Sam's to anyone, everybody. My children, and now my grandchildren go there, and enjoy it as much as I have for many, many years. Sam's is the greatest. Thanks to Sam Baker and his brother Tim Baker for a great H-O-T-D-O-G experience. cjlb - Columbia, SC

No air conditioning, just lots of open windows and ceiling fans. Looks like it came straight off a 40s movie set. The server will take your order at the counter, and when it is ready will yell out your name. You go to the counter and pick it up. Absolutely no frills, but so much fun!

At least a few times during the week we'd eat there or at least food from there as our condo is only like a 5 minute walk away. The food is very good and the proces are reasonable. The Coldest Beer on the beach and Best darn hotdogs you will find in the area. Both families run 110% all year and we love the laid back atmosphere offered at Sam’s that allows us to "just be on vacation". Hint: Best time to eat there is after 8pm.
