I could complain about some of the inconvenices of eating at Sams, but some of these inconvenices make it the best place to eat in the area. My wife and I always stay at Myrtle Beach but we always make at least one trip to Garden City to eat at Sams. We always get the footlong hotdog and fries.

My wife is still laughing about the "Foot Long Hotdog". Looked like a regular hotdog was rolled out to stretch it to length.

Went to beakfast 2/3/2013. The Place was dirty to say the least. The male cook had the personality of a rock. We were the only ones there around 8 to 9 am,Now I do not wonder why. The cook looked about as clean as the resturant!!!!!!! l placed a order for coffee, water and and omlette. He made you feel like you being there was a MAJOR INCONVIENCE ! The coffee so bad , you could not drink it. The food was absolutely aweful, the hashbrounds and western omlette were so heavy in the OLDEST GREASE and it looked like there were deliberate? shavings, like scrapping of an old teflon coated pan. Then he slings the toast on counter, GUESS what,it was BURNT, I mean black. I use to eat there everyday when in town, but NEVER AGAIN. The owners should know why they no business. ONE SMALL BITE, NASTY, NASTY.I recall the days when Danial worked there. He was great, always a smile, that is the type of person that I personally would want to represent my company. The man who was there obviously doesn't like his job. Hey, when it is so clear you don't want to work, then you need to find other employment, yeah good luck mister on that one. WILL NEVER EAT AT THAT GERM,GREASE INFESTED,AND THE COOK LOOKED DIRTIER THAN THE RESTURANT. One Bite and left. ....If you like...Gross, sickening, throwing up kind of food, then thats the place for you.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MLS

Long time resident here. Regretfully this place has succumbed. I used to love the place but all the poor reviews are true. I usually drop in once per year to see if anything has improved or worsened......it's gotten worse. During my last walk through I saw they had introduced WIFI. I brought in my IPAD and tried to connect while waiting on my hotdogs. When I asked for the password, the manager said "you have to pay to get connected". I told him, " I figured the $15 for the Hot Dogs paid for it.". DONT DARKEN THEIR DOOR.

This place is a grand strand institution. If you want a chain restaurant with disgruntled college kids serving your food, go somewhere else. This is a trip down memory lane, all the way down to the oldies music! I love this greasy spoon!

We are local and went here because Sam's always seems to be named the best hot dog place on the beach. We should have gotten the hot dogs. We ordered burgers and they were some of the worst we have had in Myrtle Beach, with cheap and hard buns, a dried out burger with kind of an off taste. The fries are tastless and again some of the worst we have had. To top it off, they didn't want to give me a cup of water, wanting to sell me a bottle for 1.89. Now the hotdogs may be good and the breakfast looked OK, but we will not be going back. Too many other great places in the area. I think they are trading on name recognition and location and focus on the tourist trade.

Well The Best Thing about Sam's Corner Was the two cooks he had at one time. Tommy and The guy that flipped your change to you...can't remember his name. The Hotdogs are World Famous.....OMG ....Meat is poor quality...the food is just not good. Also he charges an arm an a leg!! Have a real good buzz before going there....it might taste good to ya!!!

Spent $31 on a BLT, 2 burgers, a footlong, fries, onion rings and 4 small sodas. Wayyy overpriced for the quality and quantity of food. The restaurant is dirty with dead flies along the window sill. Thank goodness there is an ice cream shop next door because we left hungry. I can't believe this place is still in business. I am ashamed that I wasted my time and money there.

World famous CRAP!! The place is disgusting. While standing in the long line we noticed one of the employees smoking at the end of the bar, one cig after another. The service is extremely slow, waited 30 min for our $30 of food and when it arrived it was cold, the footlong hotdog had shrunk to nothing indicating that he had been cooked many hours if not days before. The cooks did not have on hair nets, gloves, aprons, nothing hygienic about them....sweating and wiping their brows with their sleeves. I wouldn't go back there to feed my dog. I did take the cold fries and chili fries back and demand hot ones, they complied however, I regret that I didn't demand my money back. I am going to call the state and county health inspectors today.

My wife and I are trying to relocate to the beach from the Charlotte NC area. We were down looking around at places to live in the area. We passed this place several times and thought we would give it a try. What a mistake, this place is terrible. I have read some of the reviews that were positive on here and the only way you could give this place a good review is if your a smoker. Smokers love to have a place where they can smoke indoors, Anyways back to our experience. Never having been here before we walked in and cig. smoke was the order of the day. Nobody greeted us or explained how to order. We ordered a cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and their monster dbl cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and two drinks. Don't drink your drink to fast because you will have to pay .55 cents for a refill. WTF!!!! While waiting on food we noticed that this is one of the most disgusting dirty places I have ever eaten in. Oh yea that little bit of food was $24.95. This place is so dirty I am reporting it to the health dept. well the food came out and my first bite of my burger the bun fell to pieces it was so dry. I asked for another bun and the cook who was smoking behind the counter and handling money at the register took my burger without washing his hands and put another bun on it. Needless to say i didn't eat it. I ate my cheese fries. The greasiest chili I have ever tasted and the fries were cold with pour cheese. We tought the burgers were awful they had no taste (not even sure if it was beef). I took my burgers off the bun and took it home to my dogs who were reluctent to eat them. The mens room was to bad to talk about here. We walked out of this place feeling like we needed to take a shower. I can say I will never go to this place again. I want to call the owner of this place but I'm sure they wouldn't care. Please don't waste your time and money in this place. Oh yea someonehad rolled a blunt in the bathroom. The remnants were in the trash can. Nice atmosphere

Make the drive to the Litchfield location. I'm a Murrells Inlet local and used to take my wife to Garden City Sams all the time, but after several sub par experiences I don't think we will be going back. I still love the slaw dogs, but the service and cleanliness has become an issue. We were driving through Pawleys last week and thankfully discovered their other location. The staff was very friendly and the place is immaculately clean with an even better hotdog. Thank god I can still get my fix. Definitely worth the drive.

It is a shame how this place has declined. It was once a fun , must do part of the beach. Now it is staffed by unfriendly people who don't speak English. The food is way over priced and the place is not the cleanest. The only reason it stays open is preying on tourists. Go across the street to the Garden City Pier Grill for much better food and friendlier service.

Hey!! I worked for Sam and Tim in the summer of 1980. Draft beer was only .75 cents. I made a killing .25 cents a mug. I was only 19 years old. This is "pre-HUGO" and the place was really beachy. Alabama on the juke box all day. I loved it. I met so many people. I still go there at least once a year while vacationing, but just for a cold draft. I don't recognize anyone anymore. The service is so unfriendly. It's nice to see Tim sitting on the same bar stool.....but it's been a while since he's been there. It's just memories now. Happy memories. CHEERS !!!

I have lived in Garden City for 10 years now and my family and I love this place. We go at least once a week. My kids Love there footlong corndogs and there Chili Cheese Fries. The 25 cent coffee is great. The prices are a little high but its the beach. When you live at the beach you get use to the prices of things being a little higher, but its well worth the money to eat there.

I have gone to garden city for vacation for the last five years, and Sam's is one of the best restaurants in all of the south. Every year that I am there, I make sure to eat there at least twice a week, usually more. This isn't a high class restaurant, but it is CERTAINLY a 5 star restaurant.

The food is excellent!!! We make a special trip from Cherry Grove just to get hot dogs and fries. The atmosphere reminds me of days gone by at the beach, and it's noisy, but that's the way it's supposed to be right at the beach. Service is fairly quick considering the number of people usually in there. Have eaten there twice already this week. Yum!!!

I can't say enough good things about Sam's. Been going there for years and something about it that just gives you the feel of "old Myrtle Beach". It's the whole atmosphere down in that corner that time forgot. You have the great eats at ANY hour of the day (yes their open 24/7), the arcade right next door that brings back some fun memories and then the pier across the street that has no admission plus a bar at the end of it. It's just a nice quiet and fun corner of MB that seems like a lot of people don't know about. Just went there this past weekend and although I hear from others about the bad service sometimes I had such good service that I put more money in the tip jar when I left. Make it a stop if your there!

Heard this was a great place to get hot dogs. Wow - all smoking, cost me $26 for 4 hot dogs, 3 fries and 3 drinks. I could make a better hot dog at home and much cheaper. No refill on the drink unless you want to pay .55. This was my first and last time at the resaturant. Sorry, but I don't recommend it at all.

Guys its at the beach so deal with the price. We have been going there since 1985. I agree the service has gone way down over the years. We still go cause we are hooked on the location(Garden City Corner) and the foot long all the way. I admit its not the best hot dog but its good times. When you go forget about the employees being rude or pretend you are at Dicks. We always meet some fun people there (not working there). My biggest issue is SPEAK ENGLISH Pablo. In 1985 to about 5 years ago they were friendly the same reg folks year after year and the helpers could speak english. Now the front is rude and the helpers cant speak english. I think sam needs to spend more time there or we may even be forced to stop going and we are die hard fans.RIP SAMS CORNER

The first time I went to Sam's some years ago, I told the waiter I wanted two foot longs with everything. He replied "Son, I'm gonna start you off with two footlongs with cheese, chili, onion, and cole slaw. And if you survive that, you are free to continue on your gastro-intestinal adventure!" I've been hooked ever since.

If it was not for the location this place would not be in business. I go to Garden City about twice a year. Since the service has gotten so bad I cut way back on my visits to SC. I used to eat several meals there over a weekend. I only went in there this last time because I was very hungry heading out of town and I was prepared for it. Rude, loud, abrupt, unfriendly. I worked at a fast food type places and you can find better people to work there than the group currently working in the day time on weekends. You can relate to people much better than they do. If you dont like it go work at another joint or get out of customer service. I witnessed them being rude to a group of 4 women. The women just took it. Too much.

Hey, I liked the place. I'd been seeing it for years and never had a chance to go, so I decided to this past weekend. It's not great, but for what it is, it's a nice little spot. The service was adequate and the prices aren't as awful as some here like to whine about ($5.25 for a crabcake sandwich isn't bad, neither is $5 for a White Russian). Sure, it's a little overpriced and I could see things getting hectic in there on a busier day, but it's a cool place for a quick, filling lunch and a few cold beers that isn't going to set you back like some places on the Strand will.

Sam, sam, you know where I am. Hey, if you want $200 meals go to the strand, if you want a great foot long (which by the way they call it the homewrecker) and a cold beer to help with a hangover..... Well baby it the place to go. It is great to know, they may tear down the pavalion and amusement park, they may build new crap that cost $100 to ride, but it is nice to know that coffee is still a nickel and you can step back into time long since gone y. Grab a beer and sit out front and watch time slowly creep by... Love you sams.......

ALL you people who are writting bad things about Sam's dont really understand how hard it is to RUN a restaurant. So maybe before you starting sayin shitty things think about it. The service can be slow yes, but only if you are there at there around the turoist season which most of you are. So think before you judge. By the way i am Sam's Daughter :)

What can you say about sams. It is what it is. Buy a footlong with sour kraut and a frosted mug of beer. You don't go eat there and expect great service or excelent food.its a staple. 75 years of 5 cent coffee and greasy hangover helper. Sit outside on the cast iron benches and watch the time go by as well as many zany beachgoers. I love sams. You find the true people of the beach in this cozy, smelly dive. I have lived in garden city my entire life and I grew up on eating at Sams when my family would spend all day Saturday at the beach! However Sams is not the same any longer. The food is nasty! The very last time I ate at Sams a cockroach fell on my burger while it was cooking on the grill and the cook simplyt tried to kill it with the spatchula then he turned around to see if anyone had watched what had happened. I was shocked he was going to still give me that patty. I got my money back and left. I believe that paying almost 5 dollars for a nasty hamburger is rediculous however I have found a much better bargain with way better door. Right across the street inside painters homemade icecream is a place called the burger shak and it is the best burger I have found! The make the paytys fresh every morning and cook to order in a much more relaxing atmosphere and with more customer service than Sams does! So next time you are down in garden city stop between may and labor day in the burger shak and get a combo!

Sorry but I sat there the other day while my kids and wife went next door to play some arcade games. While there I observed the cook treating customers rudely! I wasn't the only one that noticed it. I also was disappointed to see the food prep area ....with all the toppings like lettuce and such just sitting there in the heat.... I have been in the business a while....if its not being used close the darn lid. Keeps the flies and bugs off as well as keeping it cool and fresh. All that being said....just an okay hotdog..

I have been going to Sams since I was able to walk. It has a wonderful beach atmosphere and the food there is awesome. I love how I can just walk off the beach and go get some food and a cold beer. I am a true local, born and raised in Garden City and I know where to get good food around here. :) :)

I have been going to Garden City since I was 1 year old. As soon as I could eat whole food, I have loved Sam's corner. Everyone misses Mark, but Sam's will always be a staple in my diet while in Garden City. I have recently introduced a few friends to Sam's and they found love for a late night fried footlong as well. I love the whole area, and Sam's will always be on my favorites list.

Sam's corner is the best part of each trip we make to MB. And sitting on our little deck in Salem Virgina we long for the feeling being there together gives. Is it the food, the music, the atmosphere or the characters you see go by in the little golf carts? Well it's all of that and so much more! It's falling in love, a red bench and 5 cent coffee. Thanks Sam's for all you've given us and when we need you it's nice knowing somethings never change - priceless!

Somebody told me to eat there because it was great with a great atmosphere with heavenly hotdogs. We drove a special trip from alabama to eat at this hell hole. We could have vacationed at Daytona. The food tasted like shit. I've had better weiners on the street. Eat at the restraunt in the arcade next door. It is much better but still shitty. One of the workers cursed me but I can't be sure. He spoke no English.

Me and my family have been going to Garden City for vacations now for a few years now. The first time we were there we decided to stop at Sams for a quick bite for lunch and it was so yummy! We made another lunch run the next day for everyone in the house. I think I ate about 5 chili dogs that week. The following year, the first night we were down there we went there for dinner. We sat outside, drank beer and ate hot dogs and fries. Later that week we stopped in on our way home from the bars at Broadway on the Beach. Needless to say they were the only place open at 2:30-3:00 in the morning and you can get a beer with your late night snack. We were unable to go to SC last year but we are going back this year. I can't wait to eat another yummy chili dog this summer at Sams!

Sam's is money. The only possible way you could have a bad time at Sam's is if you are a pretentious pain in the butt. A great, and sometimes standing-room-only, 24-hour diner with ice cold American drafts for less $2. Locals, tourists, bikers, yuppies... it doesn't matter. Stick with the cheeseburgers and you won't be disappointed. Some of the best onion rings you'll ever get your hands on.

We are a group of golfers from Kansas City who have been going to Sam's Corner for about 15 years. We eat breakfast, dinner, late night and even have a middle of the night brew or snack from time to time. Their attention to us has been impeccable over the years. We keep coming back because they still give you that hometown feel, rib you good naturedly and feed you that homecooked fried bologna sandwich.

Sam's Corner (Garden City) is a true "icon"; I've visited since they first opened and I'll continue going from time-to-time as long as they operate and I'm around to go. It's not cheap, it's not spiffy ... it's not a lot of things. But what it IS is what makes it so special. The music's great, the 'view' is usually outstanding (sometimes spectacular!), the food fills you up, the beer is COLD, nobody cares what you look like or have on (and if you keep it under a roar) have to say. It's a cross between "Peaches Corner" or "Sloppy Joe's" circa 1960; just located in Garden City instead of 9th Ave. N. and Ocean Blvd. in Myrtle Beach. The "Baker-Boys" are ggod guys, great hosts. You owe it to yourself to go for the experience; you'll probably go back (unless you're pretty stuffy and way-over-the-hill). It's a 'real-deal' beach-place, about as far as you can get from a chain.Don't take granny after midnight.

I have not been to Sam's corner for a few years, but wow what good times back in the summers of 2000-2001. So sad the hear that Mark is no longer there!?!? I remember seeing him there what seemed like 24 hours a day. When we asked him if he ever got any sleep...he said "I'll sleep when I die."' What a cool place...sitting outside, sipping cold brews watching all the cars come back from a night on the "strip" and meeting people. A couple nights we saw lights beyond the pier and realized it was the sun coming up! Oops! time to get back to the beach house. Good food that is probably not good for you, a laid back atmosphere and a little bit of everything on the menu. Its a really cool place if you understand and love the whole summertime vibe. Long live summer nights at Sam's!

The customer service was terrible. The abnoxious guy behind the counter would not take my order because I was at the end of the counter and not under the sign that says "ORDER HERE". So therefore he ignored me. I was simply ordering a coffee to go. Last year, I got my coffee to go every morning for 2 straight months with no problem. The people last year were great. This year I will not be back until they get rid of that employee.

For a beach atmosphere this place is just fine. The food is mediocre at best and so is the service. We went back twice because we like to see these kind of places but finally gave up. It's just overpriced fried food fare. The food overtook the "ambience" part, so we stopped going there...........I know this is not a good review but check it out for yourself. We could live with a decent price or friendly service but neither of these seemed to work out.

I am only 20 yrs. old but I remember loading up my parents car and going to Garden City every year. We stayed at the Barnacle which was right beside the Arcade and Sam's Corner. We always went to Sam's and I was never disappointed in the service or the food......and of course Mark. He always had a joke to tell or some funny comment to make. Just last year my father-in-law purchased a place at Garden City, I had told my wife time and time again that we were going to Sam's one day and we did only to see that Mark was gone. Other than that Sam's holds alot of childhood memories for me......in fact I am turning 21 on Sept. 20 and my wife and I are going to Garden City for the weekend. I am surely going to go to Sam's for my first legal beer and hotdog!!!!!!(just another memory provided by Sam's Corner)

My first trip to Sam's Corner came 15 years ago after my freshman year of college. Man, just thinking about about a good ole' corn dog, fries, cold beer and some of those fine lookin' young women at the arcade next door gets me a reminiscing...Well, I just returned from a college reunion trip down to Garden City, and let me tell you, nothin's changed. Granted, Mark is not there and the way they take orders is all screwy, but you can still get a some good grub for a good price, and, as far as the women go...if there's grass in the infield, play ball! I'd recommend anything they have on the menu, except for the pork brains, which are for losers, along with an alcoholic beverage of your choice. They have a wide selection to choose from. Pound for pound, it's the best eatin' anywhere in Garden City!

I recently returned from a weeks vacation in Garden City which included several late night/early morning trips for food and fun at Sam's Corner. I was sad to hear that Mark was no longer there. I ate my first of many "Mark Dogs" in 1992, and I am proud to say that the peanut buttery treat has made its way to my home in Long Beach, NY. Mark may no longer be at Sam's Corner, but his recipes live on!!!

The place was definitely not the same without him but the place still employs an interesting bunch. My favorite was Johnnie. She was extremely friendly and introduced my friend Chiz and me to a new treat...brains and eggs (hold the eggs). Our nightly can of pork brains will not soon be forgotten. I can't wait for next year's trip.

We like the ambiance of the area and have tried Sam's about 4 times. I really want to like this place but I have given up. It's overpriced for a hot dog place and fried onion rings can be had anywhere. Check it out if you must but outside of the beach atmosphere, there are many better places to go. With the bored counter people to go with it, I really don't need an overpriced hot dog.

This review is based on 6 experiences. I am not one to complain, but lately the last 5-6 times I have visited Sam's I have been completely unhappy. After I realized there was an online area to comment, I felt the need to share my experiences. High prices vs. quantity of food delivered is inadequate, poor (extremely poor) customer service (most likely due to understaffing), and the place is nasty. Trash full (overflowing), only 1-2 even speak english behind the counter...One day I waited 40 minutes for my order after asking 4 times what the deal was, they have spiraled out of control. They simply no longer care who the customer is....Try if you have time and money to spare, happy vacation!

The poor customer service, lack of cleanliness in seating area, and prices have made this one restaurant we no longer visit! I live in Surfside Beach, full time. My husband and I call the the "tourist trap" restaurant. I decided, after saying the last two times "never again," to give them one last try to see if things had improved....1 adult, 3 kids, and no alcoholic beverages $44!!! Have mercy. We stood in line at least 15 min to order, no smiles, everyone there seems so overwhelmed and unhappy and don't even think about trying to get salad dressing, refill or sauce for your chicken fingers unless you get it right when you order comes out! - very hard to get their attention the 2nd time around....trust me, don't waste your money. "If" I ever do go there again and things have improved, I promise to let you all know. Don't hold your breath!

I've been going to Sam's for over 20 years, and I have been disappointed the past few times. First, it's not the same without Mark. Second, it feels less welcoming than it used to and more like just another place at the beach wanting to quickly shuffle customers in and out. I would have given four stars several years ago. I can't, in good conscience, give even a full star based on my last 8 or 10 experiences there.

What a shame for so many Carolinians who have seen the beach become a mere tourist destination for transients from all over the country have to watch another favorite location fall into the same decline.

We found this place on our way to the beach. It was really good food but NO free refills on very small sodas for the price. A bottle of water was almost $2! But the hotdogs were fried which we had never had before. There is no A/C inside and on hot days can feel like an oven! We sat outside and you could hear the waves crashing. But it is on a very busy street so the noise of the cars can drown out the waves. Over all it is an OK place but worth going if your into dives!

I have been going to Sam's Corner for 22 years but, if they do not go back to their old way of taking orders, I'll never go back again.

I usually go to Sam's every day I'm at the beach but, last weeks experience still has me saddened because the atmosphere is what makes the place and they have ruined that.

You now have to stand in a long line and prepay before you can order. That is unacceptable. The comradery between guests and patrons is what makes the place. It is now gone.

We went in for a lunch and all I can say is if we had done our usual: ordering food and several adult beverages, it would have been a farce.

Please go back to your old ways. Please stop this nonsense. I'd give the place 0 stars after my last visit. Zero!

I've been going to Myrtle Beach (Garden City) since 1957, and although Sam's has only been there about 30 plus years, it seems like it's been forever. The food is great, the atmophere is great, the variety is super, the seating is very ample, the HOTDOG is exceptional, as always, and I would recommend Sam's to anyone, everybody. My children, and now my grandchildren go there, and enjoy it as much as I have for many, many years. Sam's is the greatest. Sam's Corner is not to be missed! This is the ultimate beach shack, a true step back in time. Food is good, staff is friendly. People watching is fun. No air conditioning, just lots of open windows and ceiling fans. Looks like it came straight off a 40s movie set. The server will take your order at the counter, and when it is ready will yell out your name. You go to the counter and pick it up. Absolutely no frills, but so much fun!

Sams Corner is the dining experiance of a lifetime.Late afternoon after a day enjoying the Garden City Peir were you see people from all walks of life enjoy the warm Carolina Sun and the fresh ocean seabreeze topped off with a ice cold beer and delecious cheeseburger all the way or a peaceful sunrise with a loved one that seems to make time stand still. Sams Corner is as if it was scripted in a Hollywood Studio. When life gets a little too busy,I escape in my mind to my old dear friend Sams Corner. Don't miss it!!!!

Sams Corner is an awesome restaurant in the Garden City area. I love their burgers and all of their food is excellent. If I lived over there, I'd have to go everyday. It may be noisy, but that makes it great. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Its better than some people say it is.
