My wife and I have been coming to MB for about 11 years now and found this gem 6-7 years ago. It is absolutely our favorite of all area restaurants. The food is terrific and the service has always been good. May not be a place for kids after about 6PM but that suits us! The food is always great, they have the best Crab dip to be found anywhere. Don't miss this place.

Love this place! Atmosphere is great and the food is wonderful! We just returned from a visit - 3/6/10. The She Crab soup is excellent, Buffalo Shrimp was cooked to perfection with just enough kick (had to have another order), best Crab Dip I have ever had, and the King Crab Legs did not disappoint. My only compliant would be 10 Buffalo Shrimp was $10.99, we wanted 20 Shrimp and had to pay $21.98. I would like to see a special (like Hooters), 10 additional shrimp for $3.99. Just felt I did not get my monies worth. Regardless, this is a must visit for our family on ever trip to Myrtle Beach.

Been coming here for years, for the happy hour oysters and beer. Great beer selection on tap and great happy hour prices on drinks and food. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff and friendly customers. A bit disappointed with the oysters however. They just keep getting smaller and smaller, forcing me to look elsewhere. So, bring back the big oysters and I'll come back!

This place rocks!!! I write this with trepidation that even more people with find out how fantastic the food is at Rockefellers. Don't miss the Steamer Pots or any of the fantastic soups. p.s. they make their own great pickles!! Run by owners who care, work there themselves, and it shows.

We tried Rockefellers by reading this website, upon arrival we were told something had happened in the kitchen and they could not serve food. My wife told the server that we had driven from Murrells Inlet to eat and she said they could make us a steam pot, I didn't have a clue what it was, but a customer at the bar said it was great. we said we would try it.I ordered a mussel steam pot which consist of Mussels steamed in a white wine garlic herb butter over angel hair pasta with fresh parmesan cheese. Also a dense bread to soak up the sauce. It was one of the best things I have ever had. My wife got the shrimp steam pot and it was great also. They went out of their way to serve us and we were glad they did. Try this place you will be glad you did.

I read the reviews on this site and saw this restaurant, which since I had been to Myrtle Beach several times, had seen in passing but never been to. The parking lot could be a little bigger...............but the food was "EXCELLENT" the server was very nice and fast and friendly. It does not look like much from the outside...........but this place is a find. I will be going here every time I am in Myrtle Beach.

Great place, lots of locals, friendly people, everyone went out of their way to make us feel at home. Food was excellent, not too loud, very comfortable. You should know the bar area was quite smoky if that offends you. Not a great place for kids, they'll get bored rather quickly, however we adults enjoyed hanging out there so much we hung around an extra hour or so to socialize. If you want to meet some real friendly locals this is the place,. It's not a tourist trap but they welcome tourists and make you feel welcomed.

This is the best restaurant in Myrtle Beach ! It is family owned and operated. The food is the best tasting - try oysters Rockefeller and the hot crab dip!!!! Locals come to this place on a regular basis. Kid friendly or sit at the bar. I've been coming to Myrtle Beach for 45 years and this is the ONE place that I will continue to visit MORE than once on each trip ! I give this a 10 out of 10 rating. And we are professional chefs from another state.

My first stop every time I am in MB...absolutely the BEST seafood on the Strand! Staff is great, very friendly...atmosphere is just right for a child of the 60's. This place doesn't have a cook, it has a CHEF! Can't wait til Sept when I am back again. I've never been there that I didn't feel like I was among friends...and I never walked out the door without making a new friend. I can't say enough good things about Rockefellers.

Excellent choice!!! We were wanting fried grouper, and amazingly it is hard to find, and I saw this restaurant on here and they had fried grouper - judging by the comments we gave it a try. We were extremely happy we went. We had the clam chowder, chumbo, and oysters on the half shell for appetizers which were fantastic!!! We all ordered the fried grouper and 1 blackened grouper for dinner, all were GREAT!!!!! This restaurant is easy to pass over by the appearance of the outside, but it is DEFINATELY worth going in - best meal we've had all week.

I haved lived in myrtle beach for 6 months but have been coming 5 or 6 times a year for the last 12 years. the first thing i do when i get to town is go to rockefellar's. they have the BEST crab dip i have ever put in my mouth. the only critisism i have is (and i am a server) that sometimes when it is a little busy it takes a very long time to get served, get your check,etc... maybe put another server on the floor. other than that it's the best place in town by a mile.

Very disappointed with our latest experience. My wife and I typically eat here every year when in town. We have always gone there mainly for the oysters. This time (4/11/09) was horrible. The oysters were TINY. We also ordered the "Golfer's Special". It wasn't special. It was flavorless. I'm not sure what has changed at Rockefeller's over the past year, but we likely won't go back.

The noise....outstanding!!!! Mix 4 televisions, a "raw bar", some golfers, a few more vacationers, the snowbirds, and of course a good mix of locals that know where to dine.....and what you get is a great time with excellent seafood. We are "local" connoisseurs always in search of good food, a good time, and good fellowship. We have found it at Rockefellers. The anJEL's on horseback are scallops wrapped in bacon served with white wine and garlic butter sauce and Rockefeller mix. They are JEL that melts on your palate. The buffalo shrimp is never overcooked and the buffalo sauce is mild/hot. Happy hour is 4-7 with 8 specials and .45 cent oysters that are like silk !!!! Just a "few" of our favorites. Lainey and all of the wait staff..........kudos. Don't' miss this "Food Experience"

This was my 3rd time in Myrtle beach and my first time at Rockefellers- In one week we were there 3 times!- Do I need to say more, My Husband and I are from Chicago, not the downtown Chicago scene type but the neighborhood corner tavern type and this place reminded us of many of our local beer joints at home except with much better food! I had the shrimp and grits and was amazed, being my father is southern he forced grits on me growing up and they were never my fav but they changed my mind, The dish was fabulous. My Husband had the blackened seafood platter- he loved it, We also tried the oyster poor boys- all fab-u-lous! Everything we tried we loved. My other fav in Myrtle beach wss binims- oyster shooters are awsome, again everything we had was awsome. How sad are we that we are thinking of retiring to n Myrtle beach just because we will always have some where good to go for good food!- Don't miss out when traveling to N Mrytle besach- AND if I didn't mention- Waitresses were awsome!

*bows to the reader* This will be my first, published (?) review, (what a job it would be to eat and be paid for writing about it, almost as good as being paid to play golf, where do I apply for those jobs?).

Sufficiently confused?

Beautiful post from most recent review, gotta be a professional writer. His pen was true. "Raw Bar". We can smoke in SC *yeeeeHA* repeat "BAR" with superior raw seafood. (The oysters are silk.)

Glad the kids gained an appreciation for smells good shellfish dishes at who knows what time of night, but NO one mentioned the from fresh scratch (where they grow their scratches is unverified) Cheese Cake. Look out NY, you have competition.

Yeah, you'll see lots of locals and repeat visitors (greeted by name by the second visit) enjoying themselves and the fare deliciously - it's good. Would you go back if a place offered inferior product? Or atmosphere? Did you try the Cheese Cake?

First of all, I think the two "less than perfect" reviews are easily explained. The review from Myrtle Beach rated Rockefeller's poorly simply because they are trying to keep the tourists out of one of the best secrets in Myrtle Beach (Bimini's is the other). While I don't blame them for trying to keep Rockefeller's for themselves, I think we should let them get the extra business and revenue- they deserve it.

For he folks from Chicago. Well, having spent a few years in the fine city of Chicago, I think I know why they didn't feel comfortable at Rockefeller's. First, there is not a single picture of Walter Payton, Dick Butkus, or Mike Ditka- no representation of Da'Bears whatsoever. Second, while you can get spinach/cheese on the oysters, there is not a single item that comes with extra sausage, kielbabsa, yellow mustard, onions, or sport peppers. I also suspect they were disoriented by that big yellow shiny thing in the sky we call the "sun".

If you go to Rockefeller's (or any raw bar for that matter) looking for atmosphere, well, maybe you should stick with Red Lobster. Sure, Rockefeller's has the atmosphere of your local VFW or a neighbors converted basement in the 70's. But again, if you are actually taking time away from the food and drinks to consider their design choices, you should not be eating here. Go visit the folks in Chicago and have a hundred dollar stuffed lobster from Shaw's. Great atmosphere- there's a guy in the bathroom that dries your hands (for $$), they take your coat at the door (more $$), cocktails will only set you back about $11 a piece, and the lobster is so good you'll swear it was just defrosted that morning (smirk).

Rockefeller's is the real deal. Seafood so fresh it will crawl off your plate if you are not careful, great service that will allow you to mix and match off the menu without a single complaint, and no snobby attitudes, no matter where you may be from.

We eat at Rockefeller's at least once or twice every time we come down. Even if it's a day trip for a concert, a dinner at Rockefeller's (or Bimini's) is a mandatory line item on the trip. We've never had a bad meal or a bad time- neither have the loads of friends we recommended try them out.

Food- It's a raw bar, you should know going in what you are getting. Your best bet is to order a little of everything and eat it Dutch style- hands all over the table. There's no bad choice on the menu.

Service- We "found" Rockefeller's on one of our first trips down to MB while driving around well after 10PM (late arrival) in the pouring rain looking for a place to eat. They sat us, but only had a limited menu at that hour (it was close to closing). the waitress overheard us discussing how hungry we were and said, basically, "order whatever you want- we'll make it happen". We literally closed the place down.

Summary- If either Rockefeller's or Bimini's close, our trips to MB will drop considerably.

We went to the door to look over the menu, and a guy standing in the door said that it was an excellent local place. The menu was appetizing. We asked the friendly waitress if there were any appetizers that people frequently requested. She said the crab dip would be first, and then the oysters Rockefeller. We got both. The crab dip was to die for!! This was my first time to have oysters Rockerfeller, and I would order them again. My husband did say that he would get a grilled platter the next time instead of the fried platter. We would definitely eat there again! Unique crab dip... GREAT!

This was our first time visiting this restaurant and we will never go back. We did walk right in and get seated. It was 9:30 at night. There were people at this table taking shots of liquour and yelling and being very loud. The beer that was served was dated April 28, 2008 and of course tasted very stale. The service there was very poor and it took a very long time for the waitress to take our order once we got seated. The oysters that we ordered were very soggy and no taste but giving the benefit of the doubt since it wasn't Oyster seasoning, we couldn't say much about them. But they were the worse that I have ever had even in off season. Over all, the place was a very disappointment and we will never go back.

What an outstanding restaurant!! We went 2 nights in a row. I had the rib eye both nights and the rest of the gang let me sample their seafood which I never eat. I was de-virginized on Rockefellers seafood. Shrimp, raw tuna and crab legs all were delicious. The rib eye was the best I've had. Servers were great and had a lot of personality (see you soon Heidi). Atmosphere was professional but could turn into a party at anytime and no one would bug you for being a little loud. This has got to be one of the best restaurants in the area. My husband found it Oct. 07 while here for some golf and said we should go and try it, I'm glad we did. Came to the beach in Feb 08 and ate there every night. They have the best crab legs and the lobster chunks over angle hair pasta are to die for. My husband loves the broiled shrimp and mussels. Much have the hush puppies & crab dip, awesome, they is nothing on the menu that isn't wonderful. Must try this place at least once, you will love it. Enjoy!

Searching for a place to take 20 hungry and slightly buzzed golfers is always a fun task, but after a quick web search we hit a home run. Service and food was very good , this was our 3rd night out to eat in Myrtle Beach and by all accounts (except for the one old guy in our group complaining about his overcooked fried food which he shouldn't be eating anyway ) this was the best place yet. A lot of locals are always a good sign. Only complaint I had was alittle too much cigarette smoke .

My family (17 of us) were going to be down there for the weekend and wanted to eat at a nice seafood restaurant. This was the one place that had pretty much all good reviews...so I called and asked them to fax me a copy of their menu. I was highly impressed when the owner of the restaurant personally called me back to confirm the reservation. The atmosphere was really laid back and relaxing. Our service was excellent, as well as the food. Everyone's food was brought out at the same time...which is difficult with 17 people. And not one person complained about the food!! Everyone enjoyed the entire evening. I know that the next time I'm in the area I will definitely eat there again!

Great restaurant. We plan to retire to NMB and this place is our number 1 place to go eat. The bartenders are wonderful, friendly, great service, great Oysters Rockefeller, soups and seafood. Ian is the BEST! Makes the best Margarita's! I would highly recommend. Their t-shirts are great we always have to bring home a dozen!

Have been there several times and only once were we disapointed...I think due to happy hour. A lively crowd of locals, I believe, that reduced attention for a refill. Decided not to dine there that night. But, all other times were wonderful. Oysters on half shell...excellent! Crab legs, perhaps the best in M.B. My husband had a cajun shrimp dish that was superb . Wait staff friendly and helpful. As a previous post mentioned...nothing fancy but like a beach restaurant from the past which I find charming. Highly recommend!

My husband and I have been in the NMB area for 2 years now. Rockefellers is a regular hang out for us. We love that they know who we are when we come in. There was a point that we hadn't gone in for over 2 months but when we finally did we were asked "where have you been?" The food is awesome and the staff really makes you feel very welcomed. Give them a try, you will be hooked!

We absolutely love Rockefellers! We found it in 2002 about 11PM in search of some seafood after arriving to Myrtle Beach very late. The waitress was awesome and we were able to get a few normal things that were not on the late night menu. We go back every years and love the atmosphere and food!

This is a a don't miss it place to eat. Rockefellers is a run down building with old furnishings, but looks can be deceiving. After being seated and given a menu things looked better and better. We had heard about the food and it was fantastic. We had the seafood gumbo which was spiced just the way we like it. Then we had crab cake sandwiches. Cooked to perfection with litttle filler I could taste. The homemade chips were the finishing touch! There are several beers and draft and a good selection in bottles. We went in the early afternoon so it wasn't busy and the server was great. Our next trip will be for dinner. I am sure it will become a regular place for us since we have moved to Myrtle Beach. The other sandwiches weree tempting so next time it is an oyster "Po Boy" for lunch and a seafood platter at dinner. They are open 1130 am to 2 AM so you can pick your time.

I love it at Rockefellers Raw Bar. The staff is great. Not to mention the food. Yummy seafood gumbo, steampot, and crab dip are must-haves! Gotta try this new berry blues martini! This place is a great local hang-out, and good spot to check out when you come to NMB! P.S. Ask for Brandy the server!

A great local "joint" that's far better than any of the chains. Good beer on tap, excellent oysters, and chumbo - what more do you need? Im only dissapointed if I go anywhere else while in Mytle Beach. Rockefellers is #1 on my list.

Don't let the rustic look of this place deceive you.We arrived 10 minutes before Happy hour ended, and we still got the 45 cent raw oyseters and Clams. The Boils are plentiful and can feed 2.MY Favorite is the Shrimp and Grits. It features Shrimp and Andouille sausage in a cajun like Sauce. This is where the Locals go so make it a must to do.

The sevice was terrible and the food was mediocre. The restaurant was dirty which ruined the evening. The steam kettle dishes were good but not worth the wait. Bartenders Michael and Adrianne were helpful and a lot of fun but our server was less than enthusiastic to be there. We will not be back.

The food was excellent!!! The atmosphere was relaxed and casual, looked like it was remodeled in 1970 but that was the fun of it. I hate all those chain restaurants in Myrtle Beach so this was a refreshing spot with great food for the money. Lots of beers to choose from also. Will definitely go there again!

Whom ever said this place it trendy please avoid. A raw bar is a raw bar. Every year I try a new place like this off the beaten path and that has a small homey looking place. Usually they are good, this was the case here. We were nervous at first because it was a Mon. night around 10PM. But hey, it's MB and as long as people are coming in these places are open. It's not a buffet! The atmosphere was what I liked the most. Dark and candle lit. A small place but very accomodating. TVs in the back for sports and a full bar/menu. Looked like locals night at the bar and the dining area was scarce. No matter, service and food VERY GOOD. Kettle scallops awesome!!!! Fish was great!!!! Many beers on tap to choose. These are the kinds of places that make beach communties and MB what it is, trendy? Try a buffet. I spoke with some locals during my remaining time at MB and they all agreed that this place is good. I will return.

Perfect! Of all the restaurants I visited while on a golf outing, this is the greatest! Very relaxing and food(especially the fried oysters) was terrific. Now if I can find a reasonable place to stay (for two people, old as dirt) I will be a constant returning patron. Have to bring the old gal with me so that means no golf this time but will be at Rockefellers every evening!

We learned about Rockefellers from a waiter at one of the Barefoot Landing hotspots. Whenever we are in Myrtle Beach, we make it a point to go there. Love their oysters on the half-shell. Their clam chowder is phenomenal. Even our now 10-year-old daughter who "didn't like" clam chowder had us order her her own bowl after she tried Mom's. Prices are very reasonable. Only problems we have are with the smoke (but once you're served, you can just keep smelling your food) and a lot of noise from a rambunctious crowd beside us. Look forward to going again!

We went there off of a recommendation from the Bartender at the Barefoot clubhouse. We ended up going two nights in a row we loved it so much. The blackened grouper fingers are great!! The Crabcake sandwich is all crab with very little filler. Great place for a great meal.

Being a summer local for the 3rd year, Rockafellers is an awesome place to grab some great food and drinks at an affordable price. The bartenders and waitresses are very courteous and kind and appreciate the tourists AND local customers. The place is not huge but is fairly comfortable for its size, so get there on the early side and grab a seat. Try the Steamed Clams and Oysters Rockafeller and you will not be disappointed.

Anytime you can find a place where the waiters and waitresses from the local restaurants hang out, you know you are in a friendly, quality joint. Rockefellers is just that joint! My favorite aspect of Rockefellers is that the atmosphere transitions from casual lunch to quality dinner, to late-night party. The menu is broad enough to cover a quick snack to a four-course meal, and is always fresh and quick. The icing on the cake is the great staff that stays familiar from year to year, and you can say "hello" to the owner; he's right there at the corner of the bar. Go for the raw oysters of course, but my other favorites are the po' boys for lunch and the steamers for dinner. Have fun!
