I recently visited River Street Sweets at Barefoot Landing in Myrtle Beach. I specifically went there because the Salt Water Taffy was not boxed and they had a nice selection of flavours. Upon bringing the taffy home I found a fair amount of it was so hard I couldn't chew it, what a disappointment. I love salt water taffy and at $11.75 a pound I thought I was getting good fresh taffy. The store itself was fun and the woman working at the counter was very friendly but the taffy was terrible.

The BEST pralines I have ever eaten in my life! Every year, I go to Barefoot Landing and buy a box of them and eat them the whole week while I'm there...and I don't share! lol They make them fresh, on site and just the smell will lead you to them, delicious! Yeah, they are a bit expensive but one bite and you'll agree they are worth it. The staff is always friendly and they give out samples so you can try, before you buy.

I fell in love with River Street Sweets the first time I visited. Luscious pralines were slowly cooking in a huge pot - the aroma was heavenly! Then the warm praline mixture was slowly poured onto the cooling table . . . and I was offered a taste right from the pot. Incredible! I bought a pound right away, then another pound a couple of days later, and I had to take a pound home to family members (but it didn't make it!) I know that is a lot of sugar but they were shared by five people, and there were two flavors! This has become a Myrtle Beach tradition ever since. All we ever get are the pralines, and we try to hit it when a batch is warm and fresh from the cooker. Real cream, real butter, vanilla, sugar, and good old fresh pecans. Fantastik! The average ratings for atmosphere, length of time to be seated, and noise level are simply because this isn't a sit down restaurant and I didn't have a "not applicable" choice. As for value for the money, the pralines aren't inexpensive--but the ingredients are highest quality so they are well worth the splurge!

I first had a River Street Sweets (http://www.riverstreetsweets.com) praline in this shop. As a person in search of The Perfect Praline, I thought I'd found heaven on earth. I've since ordered several hundred dollars' worth of these pralines online; though they're not at the same level of perfection as the fresh, hand-dipped candy in the store, they're the best I've had to date.

We always go to Barefoot and Broadway when in Myrtle, this is the first time I stopped at River Street Sweets and they have the best Pralines I have ever tasted. They gave us a sample of a warm praline and I immediately bought some to eat and take home. I am going to order some for the holidays, cannot wait to get them.

I thought I had died and gone to heaven after trying their pralines. I have had them from all over (TN, New Orleans, FL, GA) but nothing like this! Also I was pleased to find the Bear Claws were outstanding -- the caramel was fresh and creamy with loads of pecans and choice of milk or dark chocolate! I mail ordered pralines for relatives for Christmas -- definitely a must while in Myrtle Beach!

This is the first place I stop when I go to Myrtle Beach and the last place before I go home. I eat pralines during my whole vacation and take more home with me. These are the best pralines! The smell will drive you wild.
