The service was awful waited over ten minutes to get refill. Had to get our own nuts which my grandson loves. The fries was so hard and cold you could not eat them. Waitress disappeared several times. This is the first time I went there and got this bad service and food. ref: 27967

We drove by River City countless times during our stay and finally decided to try it on our last day. I'm sad we waited. It was wonderful!!!! It was the best cheeseburger I've had in a long time. My Husband really liked his buffalo chicken sandwich. And the fresh cut fries were perfect!!! And you can possibly beat the view!!!! My only complaint was that on our visit they were out of Mahi-Mahi and I really wanted to try that sandwich. ref: 25178

We ate at this River City Cafe on 5/9/12 -- visited the one at Barefoot Landing earlier in the week and liked it so much, we found this one in Surfside. Location couldn't be better -- right on the beach, great view. But folks seated on the deck had to deal with pigeons. We sat indoors, and while it was loud and cold (bit too much A/C), the service and the food more than made up for it. Curtis was our waiter. He was kind, attentive, helpful, and fun. Husband had the Philly Burger and was able to substitute regular mayo for spicy chipotle with no problem. I had the Nacho Burger ordered with no jalepenos -- but surprise! Pulled them off and the burger was delicious. Very reasonably priced, too. We'll be back! ref: 25135

Never have I been seated then ignored for so long. The wait to be seated was short since there were only a few people waiting to eat. I honestly began to feel if I myself was loitering, as if I was only there to find a shady seat. Then once the waitress came up to us, it was if I was from a third world country. She spoke very few words and even after the 20 minute wait, told us to wait a few more minutes for menus. There were open tables to either side of us! This completely ruined my first experience at river city cafe. ref: 23686

You just can't please some people! We have been coming to the beach every year with my daughter,son-in-law and grandchildren. We started when our oldest was a year old. He is now 22. We found the river city cafe years ago and it has been a tradition for us since. We have eaten at every river city cafe there, but our fav is on 21st. Murrells inlet not bad either. The kids love it and we love it. We'll be coming back year after year as long as they are open!! I have been to the beach 5 times this summer so far, and I am going again this Sunday 9/12 and yes, I will be going to the RCC. Keep up the good work! ref: 20676

We make a trip to River City Cafe almost every year. For a huge selection of burger, this is the place! It's a nice break from seafood. We prefer the one in Murrell's Inlet though. The food is great and you can't beat the view at Surfside!! ref: 18320

Our family makes its annual trek to this awesome place each summer. It has become a tradition. The food and the atmosphere are great. We had burgers, fries and onion rings on our last visit and sat outside with a great view of the ocean. Would recommend it to anyone who likes good burgers and good service, The only issue is be prepared to wait! It is usually very crowed, but worth the wait! ref: 17928

Me and my family ate at the Surfside location three time on on three week beach trip overthe summer. I have ate at RCC for many years. No trip is compelte without it. It is simply my favorite rest. in the world. A great place to take the family for great food at a good price. ref: 16629

Fantastic Burgers! We just moved to the area and decided to try out RCC, we have only been once but we will definitely be regulars.. I can't say enough about the food. Our burgers were great, loved the fries and the cole slaw was incredible. Oh and don't forget to try the iced tea too. ref: 16008

We ate here twice during our short stay and it was so nice! The food was tasty and plenty of it. The prices were not too bad for such a spot on the Atlantic seacoast. We managed to get a table outdoors on the deck both times and it was heavenly listening to the waves and feeling the slight breeze. How could anyone complain very much about that? The waitresses we had were both really sweet young ladies. Thanks! :) ref: 15958

We vacation every year in Garden City Beach. To beat the the dreaded traffic from Roanoke, Va. We leave by 5:30 AM. We drive directly to River City at Surfside Pier and arrive 11 or 11:30 for a Cheese Burger in Paradise while enjoying the view of the the Atlantic Ocean. It's a great hit with the kids and has become a tradition in our family. What a great way to start a summer vacation! See you Saturday July 4th. ref: 15773

My family and I have been going to Garden City Beach for the longest time and we found river city about five years ago. Every time we go to the beach for a week, River City is a place we must go to. Sometime we go twice during the week. The burgers and fries are the best at the beach. The wait is usually long (what isn't at the beach), but it's worth the wait. ref: 15323

My husband and I went planned to go to Myrtle Beach for his birthday and to see my aunt after 15 years. Haven't been before to the area, so did two great things at once. My aunt is a newbie to the area, but we were able to make our way to the River City Cafe for lunch with no problem. (Her and I have getting lost in our DNA, so this was a achievement all on it's own) I always wanted to find a relaxing, fun and beachy area to relax and found it at River City. Aunt J. raved about the food and much to our delight, she was right!!! My husband had the reban, and I had the Polynesian Chicken sub. They were great!! Good atomosphere and loved that everything wasn't matchy-matchy. Loved sitting outside, and watching the beach view (even when the fog rolled in) We would recommend this place if you like fairly priced good food. Service was good, didn't bug but was there if we needed him. Thanks for making our visit enjoyable and we WILL return. ref: 14386

My family and I have been coming to myrtle beach for 11 straight years and till this day I haven't found a better place to dine, drink or hang out than river city @ surfside! I would recommend them to any one wanting a great (affordable) meal. I would probably eat there every day of our trip if the rest of the family would let me. We needed a casual place to go since we were traveling with a toddler. I recommend this burger&fry joint to anyone. The food was delicious and portions were large. It was just a fun atmosphere and we will be back to this location for certain. We sat outside and the view of the beach as well as the bucket of peanuts kept my 2 year old occupied til our food came.. ref: 12259

This was one of the worst meals I have eaten out. The restaurant seemed dirty, not the peanut shells on floor, but the tables. We were a party of 9 and all of us had a bad experience. My son chipped a tooth on gristle in a hamburger, another hamburger was raw in the middle, the groper was tasteless, french fries soggy, shrimp tough and a hot dog that had grit from the grill. I would not eat there again or recommend it to others. Also, as we were entering...a woman warned us of the chicken being greasy.
Should have taken the warning and saved my $100.

This is one of the spots we hit every year. In fact, some of our old license plates are on the wall when this location first opened. The Murrell's location is the original and has the best atmosphere, but the Surfside spot has the beach view and is fun as well. The burgers are the thing here, but the onion rings are good too. They've lost a little something since they expanded (more corporate, I guess), so the rating drops a bit, bit overall still a fun place to eat. ref: 11766

Our family loves this restaurant!!! Last time we were here we ate at this location twice and the Murrell's Inlet once. It's a fun atmosphere, were there are no pretences, it's comfortable. Of all the places and things to do in MB, my daughter wanted to know if we could go to River City Cafe again.
We went our first night here and we weren't dissapointed. Our waitress was wonderful!!! and the food as good as I remembered. We plan on going back before we leave. ref: 10497

I LOVE River City! I ate here twice on my vacation last week and it was excellent. I think this is the best location. It's ocean front and I enjoy sitting outside. The fries were hot and fresh and the burgers were great. The peanuts were also excellent. My husband and I went here one night on our vacation in August 2007. I had heard others say how great it was and we didn't want to spend alot of money on eating that night. We were handed a "buzzer", but it wasn't long before we had a seat. The seats were a little too close (where we sat at anyway) to the seats at the table behind me and I often had to move up super close just not to be hit in the back. The view was great. We ate inside but others were eating at the tables on the outside but it was rather windy and we were glad we sat where we did. We still got to see the ocean. I ordered a grilled chicken salad and it was very good and hit the spot since I wasn't that hungry. My husband ordered fried clams and french fries. He didn't care for the fries at all and thought they were too soggy. He also felt the place was a little dirty (and not because of the peanut shells, we're used to that since we've seen that in other restaurants). It wasn't the most horrible place I've ever been to but we probably wouldn't go back. ref: 8157

Not a bad place, We were a party of six and a toddler and the hostess was kinda ho-hum. She seated us outside in the corner, saying we were in the shade. Wrong! I was hotter than my burger. The waitress was nice but slow, burgers are overrated. Five Guys Is much better. Nice view of Ocean if you have the chance to sit ocean front not in our corner. Onion rings look good but are flavorless. Probably the last time I eat there ref: 7863

Nothing bad about this place. AWESOME.... and a GREAT DEAL. Any kind of burger you can imagine...they have or will create, as one person in our party did. Hand cut fries...the greatest.

The french fries at this restruant were some of the best I have ever tasted. Our family eats their every summer and we think its the best restraunt in Myrtle Beach. The atmosphere was great. A perfact veiw of the ocean is perfect. The location is amazing too. The pier is right next to it. So you can look around while you wait our go to the beach. ref: 2226

We eat here every summer when we stay in a house near by. The fries are the best. I love the atmosphere, especially when we get outside seating. Sometimes the service leaves a little to be desired but still I go back again and again for the food. ref: 2045

We have visited this restaurant two different times and found both to be very good. I had the hamburger and onion rings on the first visit and both were excellent. The second visit I had shrimp and oysters plus onion rings. My beer was cold and good, my friend had a raspberry Margarita -needed a little more raspberry. We will return. We tried this place because it was close, and we were intrigued by the name. BIG MISTAKE. My husband ordered the chili, it was stone cold---not just lukeware, actually cold. I think they forgot to heat it. My sandwich wasn't much better. ref: 1656

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local as the 'best hamburger place at the beach', I didn't find it so! Soggy, overcooked fries, soggy burger (my bun was so wet it just fell apart in my hand). I felt like I had been served my entire meal out in the rain. I would have enjoyed a McDonalds cheeseburger more. ref: 1294
